821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX Vega Rumored to Hash 70+ Mh/s on: August 03, 2017, 07:00:56 PM
Holy cow that would be insanely interesting if true! Sadly the "craze" is still very much on so it will pretty much be a zero sum game for anyone who buys these outside of like day one. I confess I would love to get my hands on some but with the difficulty increase that the thousands of these coming online will bring.. it may be pointless. I am not sure why people are all "think of the poor gamers!" - seriously why does AMD care? They sell out of cards they make money. Only a business that is bad at doing business would NOT want to sell out of their entire stock the moment it becomes available.
822  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin: A big ride is about to come on: August 03, 2017, 06:51:44 PM
You say a big ride but I am not seeing it to be honest... the price is moving slowly and everyone is pretty much watching and waiting to see what will come next. Most people have their attention on BCH/BCC and that is detracting from the BTC action. Maybe people are waiting for, the phrase I will choose is "real winner" between the "split." Some people believe in Bitcoin Cash and that may lead to more interesting times.
823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bittrex Takes the Lead in Bitcoin Cash Trading Volume on: August 03, 2017, 06:49:37 PM
Bittrex has worked for years with almost no problems that I have ever seen. Yes it lags on many features and coins that sites like Polo have, however I would argue that they are (hopefully) focusing on stability, security, and all that good stuff. I have never really liked Polo, they always seemed a little sketchy to me and I personally did not like their interface. I never really understood the trollbox, I guess that is what always made it seem like a sub par exchange.
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Lbry real profit? Is whattomine misleading? on: August 03, 2017, 04:49:01 PM
The problem is that there are some large pools that switch around to the current "most profitable" coin every few minutes or hours. This causes massive swings in the hashrate and thus the difficulty. So you will see that LBRY is suddenly worth say $50 per day and the hashrate is -42% and then suddenly a few minutes later it is at $18 per day and hashrate is at +22%. That is what happens when these big pools switch around to different coins. My policy is to mine what I feel is the most promising projects and switch between those as they will most likely perform better in the long term.

I am unable to login today.. is the site down?
826  Economy / Economics / Re: Is trading just educated guessing? on: August 03, 2017, 03:25:01 PM
It really depends on how you look at it I guess. You could call if gambling if you really wanted. They are almost the game. When I look at a new coin, I look at a few things and do some research. If I like what I see, I may consider entering a position in it. If I do not, I discard it right away. So there is a little skill involved, but you could say the same for gambling such a poker. The real trick is having a plan and sticking to it. You can read the charts, read the news, read the developments, but if you do not stick to your game plan and honor stops and sell zones and never take your profit and are always just chasing a new all time high.. then yeah you are really just gambling.
827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do BCC Will help increase BTC Value? on: August 03, 2017, 12:22:50 PM
To directly answer your question: no, BCC will not help increase BTC. Realistically if anything it will detract from BTC's value due to confusion and a larger amount of options. However, this is not just some half baked project in my opinion - they do have a legitimate concern with SegWit and wanting a higher block size, Satoshi himself only made the 1MB size a temporary thing.. or so he thought. BCC's whole closed source and hidden in the shadows thing.. that might be what kills them in the end.
828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HubMonitor - Early detecting new coins which didnt hit any exchange. on: August 02, 2017, 03:39:53 PM
Hi, this looks to be a promising project but I think you have your initial donation tiers a little high. While a tool like this would be extremely useful, it will only be useful and gain traction once the basics are functional.

That said, here is what I would say would be the most useful features:

Sortable columns
Fields for hiding "Algo" options such as hiding all ICO (personally I hate this trend very much)
Restricted length fields such as the description with the option to "view more" so the page has a uniform appearance and does not "flow" all over the place.

I hope this feedback is useful!
829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.8 (Windows/Linux) on: August 02, 2017, 01:01:30 PM
it is possible to mine solo LBC?
Yes you can, you just have to use their miner program and not Claymore which is a real shame. Claymore's miner is one of the best, most stable and feature rich programs I have ever used. The best forks for solo mining LBC just do not compare. You will want to grab a copy of CCminer and solo mine LBC that way. However, AMD cards do not solo mine LBC as well as nVidia cards, the real trick is the dual mining with memory intense algos (Ethash) and core intensive ones to get a small bonus. Don't expect the AMD card solo mining to output as much as you would with ETH+LBC.
830  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-31] Mass Exodus from Coinbase Spawns 12 Hour Bitcoin Withdrawal Delays on: July 31, 2017, 07:22:50 PM
This will not be the first time Coinbase has failed it's customers. In the most critical times their systems crash and people miss

out on opportunities. This is one of the reasons why I hate third party services and prefer to deal with people directly. We

should either stop using these services or continue using them, but only for Fiat conversion. Trade bitcoins directly and not

through third party intermediaries.  Roll Eyes
What other options are there? Especially if you want to trade on a decent platform such as GDAX there is really no substitute. ShapeShift is really the only other decent  have seen and they are for small volumes. Sure cold storage is great if you just want to old on to them but you can not trade or increase your holdings very well that way. Coinbase should probably have seen this coming and somehow accounted for it.. but then again maybe that would have exposed something, maybe they are covering up a hack? Who knows.
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH rally has begun. on: July 31, 2017, 04:50:23 PM
I don't believe that ETH will take off again like it did before. The technological weaknesses have become extremely obvious, the unlimited and uncapped emission is a cause for great concern, and general sentiment has slid on it. All these things mean that the coin is very likely to under perform in the coming weeks or months.
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How many cards can Claymore handle on: July 31, 2017, 04:44:59 PM
I do not believe there is a limit as I have seen screen shots of the program running 10-12 cards. The real limitations you will run into will be motherboard, driver, and OS related. Are you looking at the new 12 GPU board? If so I have seen Claymore running on it just fine.

Some more details about your set up and what you are looking at would be helpful if you want a more specific answer Smiley
833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fifth alt coin thread last four got too big. on: July 31, 2017, 03:47:46 PM
It seems VEGA can do almost 40 eth, maybe more with RX / updates we shall see, but the interesting thing is it can dual mine 3500 - 4500 decred at the same time, which is not too shabby.

It is not outright bad. But as quoted below, it is not what we all hoped it would be. Even still with those numbers a return on investment is not likely for quite a long time unless there are severe shortages and you are a lucky one to grab them early. The network hashrate will adjust within days most likely.

I will get one or two but does not seem like a game changing miner
Yeah that is probably what I will do as well, I have plenty of spare slots and I would love to pick up a couple just to play with. Now if only Newegg accepted straight ETH so I could buy them without any exchanging!
834  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BCC market value on: July 31, 2017, 03:44:41 PM
They say that the price is on $400+ which i dont know on where do they get such price qoutations since its not being still yet on the market.
Some exchanges have a futures market section for BCC. That means that it is purely speculative pricing. Futures, as the name indicates, is what you expect the price to be in the future. You are not necessarily trading on the current value, but you are trading on what you think it might be. Positive outlook: price goes up, negative outlook: price goes down. It is just like trading the real thing, expect you are not! I know it sounds weird, but it really does open a lot of opportunities, more so than just straight trading.
835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Zcash price prediction on: July 31, 2017, 03:34:50 PM
Right now I would say ZEC is the BTC of the Equihash/dark coin world. However there are a lot of people that disagree with a lot of decisions that have been done by the creators. Other forks like HUSH, ZER, ZCOIN, do not have these questionable decisions and seem to be growing in popularity. Couple that with the supposed back door inside of the ZEC dark movement features and I think ZEC is not going to recover much. I think we'll see some kind of equilibrium reached between it and its "alts".
836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining with X2 1080TI, one have lower hash rate on: July 31, 2017, 03:30:41 PM
Most likely the slower clock has not boosted its core speed anywhere near as much as the other. Some GPUs just have cooler temps or better quality chips and they clock themselves faster. There are a few nVidia Linux OC tools floating around out there, you'll want to pull the speeds of the cores and then set them appropriately high for optimum mining speed. Also, in all my 1080 TIs I have found some that simply do not mine well. I cannot explain it, but they are just worse quality than others I guess.
837  Economy / Exchanges / Re: who would have thought: Btc-e coming back this soon! on: July 31, 2017, 01:15:05 PM
I thought the coins were moved and or seized. Did we ever figure out who got their hands on the coins? I am glad that they are refunding users and that they were able to fix the situation, it sure would have been nice if Cryptsy was linked to this as well and they recovered those funds as well, I would sure be happy to have those 23 BTC back!
838  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you plan to quit the altcoin world? on: July 31, 2017, 01:12:58 PM
No. The altcoin world is amazing and there are some seriously promising projects out there. Alts are good - they create competition and innovation that BTC can then integrate safely in the future. It is why Litecoin did SegWit first. Satoshi himself it was unreasonable for Bitcoin to a usecase for every single thing and that other coins can fill those niches. Bitcoin can be the backbone of the crytpocurrency world, but alts can ride right along with them.
839  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BCC market value on: July 31, 2017, 12:36:50 PM
it will start with 400$ and in  it will go down to 20-30$ in 1 day.
That's a free money for the bitcoin holders. There is no difference with crap coin. I think that the holder will be starting to dump it soon. And just move it into another portfolio with high market capitalization such as stratis and friends. Because i ready to dump my bcc for free cash. I never hold crap coin like that.

Yes, it is really a very bad idea to keep holding the crap coin because it is released into the market when Bitcoin value is underestimated and also people will treat BCC as another altcoin like Bitcoin Plus, Bitcoin Dark etc. I think it won't secure its position in the market because it has no value.
Maybe maybe not. If you already have BTC and it splits into BCC, BCC has the greater potential for a larger percentage growth. I can see the value of immediately dumping it and then grabbing more BTC, but I am willing to be that if you held onto the BCC for a few months it will have value greater than if you dump it right now. Then again I am seeing a larger and growing anti-segit sentiment everywhere, so I think BCC might have a little more wind in the sails than the other Bitcoin crap coins.
840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fifth alt coin thread last four got too big. on: July 31, 2017, 12:33:05 PM
VEGA looks pretty disappointing in my opinion. Like you said, it will be all about how many SOLs it can produce and the wattage against the 1080 TI. With its Ethash rate almost the same as the 1080 ti it might just edge it out no matter what, and the lower price helps, but I guess the real question will come down to availability. I can still walk into Microcenter and grab a few 1080 tis no problem, I doubt they will have stock of VEGA sitting around ready to be purchased.
