821  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) - New Promotion! on: March 04, 2016, 01:05:09 AM
I started with crypto around November of 2013... had heard about it previously but never really got into it, unfortunately.  Around that time Bitcoin was starting to hit the news because of how fast it was gaining value.  I started with alt coins (LTC and DOGE) because I didn't have any dedicated hardware to mine BTC and could still mine the LTC/DOGE with my GPU.  Finally around March of 2014 I started buying BTC mining hardware.  5 U2 sticks and then shortly afterwards a couple S1s.  Hit my first block on p2pool a couple weeks after I fired up my S1s.  From there, I bought an S2 and an SP10.  Then I sold all of that and picked up S3s, which I ran until a few weeks ago... two of which are actually still hashing, the other 6 are sitting by doing nothing.  Now I've got 5 A6s, 2 S3s and 1 S5.

By the way, if anyone is interested in the S3s let me know.

Thanks.  I've been watching your solar project thread... looks like a lot of fun (and some good old fashioned work, too)!

The new Avalons are up and running.  20TH of my own hardware... If only I had this much power a couple years ago... Lol

Well he is giving away Avalon 6 miners...
825  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Empty blocks on: March 03, 2016, 10:58:33 PM
On AntPool miners don't get the fees anyway, the pool does.  Of course one wonders why anyone mines on that pool at all...
826  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) - New Promotion! on: March 03, 2016, 10:22:30 PM
Speaking of increasing base hash rate... I have just purchased 3 more Avalon 6 to point here.
827  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Empty blocks on: March 03, 2016, 08:50:39 PM
Yes, they've certainly gotten better about submitting empty blocks.  Unfortunately, they still SPV mine and they are still submitting empty blocks, albeit far less frequently.
828  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BCMonster.com Mining Pool Still looking for miners! 3 blocks found. on: March 03, 2016, 07:49:01 PM
Any clue who that stevetrapp guy was posting in irc about me contacting him or he was going to move his miners?  I do not have any emails or anything that I have not replied to.  Not sure what he needs.

edit... Apparently the contact us on the site is not functioning for some reason.  I ask Johnny if he had any trouble with his.  I will try to get on the server and look at it in the morning and see if I can figure out what it is that is causing that to not work correctly.  So please do not use that for the next little bit until I have time to fix whatever is wrong.
Check your PMs... I sent you the fix for the Contact form.

LOL Doc... looks like we were both thinking about the casinos Smiley
830  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: March 03, 2016, 07:16:55 PM
That's how a PPLNS pool works.  The block finding luck plays a significant factor in how much you make.  If the pool is lucky and finds more blocks than expected, you win.  If, on the other hand, the pool finds fewer blocks than expected, you lose.  Over time, things expect to converge near the 100% mark, meaning you should make near 100% of expected earnings.

Thinking about it short term is akin to gambling.  You rent your hash and hope the pool does better than expectations during the time you shares are still in the payout list so that you make extra coin.  If you're overpaying for your rented hash, you're at a disadvantage right out of the gate.  Just remember, when you are renting on NH/WH, you pay 3% right off the top as a fee, so unless you happen to get the rental for 3% or more under expected earnings you're starting off at a loss.

The harsh reality is that renting for profit is typically a losing proposition - just like gambling.  Can you strike it rich?  Sure.  You can also get burned.

So, if you've got the coin to spend and want to try your luck, then go for it Smiley.

832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Third day 0 confirmations HIGHEST PRIORITY!!! on: March 03, 2016, 05:46:58 PM
It's not getting confirmed because whoever sent it only attached 377 satoshi as a fee.  That's not going to cut it when there are many thousands of other transactions waiting for confirmation.

The standard recommended fee for a transaction is 0.0001BTC per kb.  At 371 bytes, the sender should have used at least 0.0000371BTC under normal network congestion.  He didn't.  He used ten times less than that when the network has tens of thousands of transactions waiting.
833  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) - New Promotion! on: March 03, 2016, 05:23:05 PM
So I finally got around to fixing the "Contact" form.  Turns out I had to make a couple changes to the way mail was routed on the server.  Now that the problem has been resolved, the "Contact" form has been re-enabled and is available under the "Other -> Contact" section of the website.

Also, I enabled an IRC web chat as well.  The IRC channel has always been available (#bravo-mining), but now you've got a nice and easy web interface to use it.  You can find it under the "Help -> Web Chat" section of the site.

Enjoy!

PS - we are still looking to grow and add new miners to increase our base hash rate.  The block finder bonus promotion is still running, so come join us!
834  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 162 blocks solved! on: March 03, 2016, 02:37:29 PM
It's the same if you by solo mining you're pointed to ck's pool Smiley  No special configuration needed.
835  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) - New Promotion! on: March 03, 2016, 02:35:08 AM
AntPool continues their empty block crap.  Since last Monday they've mined 44 empty blocks.  Had less than half of them been full there would be no transaction backlog.  Had any transactions not confirm recently?  Blame those pools that don't care anything about Bitcoin and add empty blocks to the chain.
836  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP NEEDED - Solo Mining Rig Problems - Earn Yourself 0.03btc Reward! on: March 03, 2016, 12:01:09 AM
Well... you've certainly auditioned quite a few distributions Smiley.  When I mentioned ckpool, I meant you running your own ckpool locally - not connecting to -ck's solo pool.

I have to be honest with you... the hardware you mentioned in your original post is going to, at best, struggle to deal with this.  Running a full node on a single core processor with only 2G of RAM?  The OS itself is going to use up a bunch of that, leaving you with little to spare to execute anything else.  Adding mining functionality on top of that and you're pretty much in a no-win situation.

I applaud your zeal for wanting to do this; however, I don't know how feasible it will be.
837  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: March 02, 2016, 08:30:21 PM
You can stop mining on the pool.  You can tell your friends to stop mining on the pool.  Post about it.  Tweet about it.  Whatever you can do to get people to stop pointing their hash here.

Since last Monday, AntPool has mined 44 empty blocks.  You know that giant backlog of transactions?  Yeah... that wouldn't exist had AntPool actually included transactions in its blocks.
838  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,JP on: March 02, 2016, 08:03:37 PM
Different payout mechanism here than at slush.  You did nothing wrong - you just need to be patient.  Perhaps you might try reading up on how PPLNS works Smiley
839  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Empty blocks on: March 02, 2016, 08:00:18 PM
So... with the backlog of transactions currently plaguing the network, one would think that the pools would be constantly pushing full blocks onto the chain.  Yeah.  Here's how it is really stacking up since last Monday (block 399383 to block 400871):

AntPool - 44/341 blocks mined are empty (12.9%)
bw.com - 8 of 103 blocks mined are empty (7.77%)
f2pool - 4 of 382 blocks mined are empty (1.05%)
KnC - 3 of 58 blocks mined are empty (5.17%)
Eligius - 2 of 9 blocks mined are empty (22.22%)
Slush - 1 of 69 blocks mined are empty (1.45%)

If we take an average of 1500 transactions per block, which is low by the way, then had AntPool had even half as few empty blocks there would be no transaction backlog at all.  Everybody's transactions would be confirmed.  There wouldn't be pages and pages of questions in the forums asking why a transaction hasn't been confirmed after days of waiting.

For the love of all that's holy - STOP MINING ON POOLS THAT PRODUCE EMPTY BLOCKS!!!

Cool.  Good luck with the Trezor!  I've thought about purchasing one but never pulled the trigger on it.
