says 16 connections to clam network but no progress bar or syncing its blank

anyone else? was ok last night

Q

I've got 45 connections, and up to date.  On block 208597

for some reason mine says out of sync and the little spinning circle is missing.. and no update bar , very strange

Do you have the latest version of the wallet?

Clam Version v1.4.2.1-355-gf36c215

think this is latest didn't see a recent update after the change.

Yup, Same as mine.  I'll have to defer to one of the more technical folks.    Another thing just for grins.  Which block are you stuck at?  Should be on the debug>info screen.  up to 208832 now.

want to write article about MCL but not sure if it is a good idea. What about the dev? he disappeared?

I wouldn't write anything yet.  Dev is around, but not as much as some would like.  I would hold off on anything till the beginning of the new year.    I believe this is pretty much a one man show.  Things are not happening as fast as some would like, but he seems to be making forward progress.  Once he gets the bot market place figured out, this should really explode...

Ok I am throwing out the updated release today. I was hoping to fix some of the painful syncing problems that lead to syncing requiring the wallet to be restarted a few times, but still don't have the bugs worked out all the way.

HyperStake Version 1.0.7.2

- Adjust the stake predictions to be more accurate
- Fix DNS seeding, this means that you should be able to fire up a brand new client and not have to add any nodes
- setstakesplitthreshold RPC call - this is an important change. By default your wallet will only split your stake if it results in each block being larger than 1,000 HYP, so you would need a total value of larger than 2k for them to split by default. You can adjust this 1k HYP threshold to be whatever you want using this RPC call.  It will need to be set everytime you open your wallet, or else it will go back to default. Consider this feature in beta stage. I confirm it works on my wallet.
- reduced nLimit to 1,000 blocks at a time so that limited RAM systems don't get memory errors as easy
- adjust max connections to 25 peers
- fix some bugs with the block splitter

https://github.com/presstab/HyperStake/releases/tag/v1.0.7.2

Please bootstrap for the fastest sync (if you are syncing from scratch). Bootstrap details can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=678849.msg7695751#msg7695751

Enjoy! And as always, don't be hesitant to report errors, I can't fix them if I don't know about them! HyperStake is not perfect, but each release gets us one step closer  Wink

Can you explain the setstakesplitthreshold RPC call a little more.  I don't think I have anything that would make that call, maybe I'm wrong.  With just the windows wallet in default mode, will I automagically split?  Can I control the split size from the windows wallet?  Are the RPC calls done through commands on the debug console?  If these are commands, and they're not already explained in the help, can you explain them?

Sorry for what might be stupid questions.   Smiley

Not stupid at all. If you have a block of 5,000 HYP that stakes with a reward of 1,000 HYP after 10 days, the network will take your original 5k block and destroy it, and give you two blocks of 3k HYP, thus splitting your stake.

In version 1.0.7.1 I attempting to switch the logic up, but coded it wrong, and this resulted in blocks not splitting at all when they stake, so you would have received a new block of 6k instead of two blocks of 3k.

In version 1.0.7.2 I added the ability for the user to define when they want their wallet to split their stakes. By default it is set to not split the stake if each new block is less than 1k HYP. So in the case of this 6k stake, it will still split them into two blocks of 3k HYP.

If you were to enter into your debug window "setstakesplitthreshold 4000", then that would mean your wallet won't split the blocks if it results in each block being less than 4k HYP. So in the example above, it would have produce one block of 6k and not split them. If you set the threshold to 2000, then it would have split them.

This is more advanced staking theory, and might be difficult to understand for those that aren't veteran stakers. If you don't understand why or how this works, simply don't use it until you do. I set the default to be a number that will optimize staking fairly well for those that don't want to mess around with this technical aspect of staking. But I do believe that allowing advanced users to craft their staking portfolio exactly how they want is essential.

Perfect....   setstakesplitthreshold was what I was looking for.  I think I know the answer to this question but just to be clear.

This will only split the staked block in 2.  It won't divide it into multiple blocks.   Correct?

And lastly, what it the current felling for optimal block size?  In the past I've heard 4K, but with the difficulty rising I'm sure that size is getting scaled down.

And now just minutes later it drops 100sat on the marketcap. Hmmm, interesting....   Undecided

just bought a few, pushed the price up to 600 again

Well now that I have you on here for a moment. I'd like to ask you, okay this is Adam right? lol and also if you'd like, I can do some foot work for you in AZ. That's if you haven't covered all dispensaries in this state. Just wondering. I'd like to help any way I can.

I'm not Adam or affiliated with Maryj, I just hold the coins and post some pics from twitter onto here because not everyone goes there.

Do you ever talk to Adam? I don't think it's just me, I'm sure there are many people on this forum that want to help him in any way we can, but I just need a little more communication. Thank you for clearing that up though. lol. Winner is not Adam Garrity. Smiley

he's usually in the irc

What's his nick in the IRC?  I've been in there for a few days and not much going on there.
829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Snowballs | Do you have the BALLS for 5000% PoS | Custom Multipool is LIVE on: November 12, 2014, 02:44:28 PM
Just si i understand correct.

Every time we add new coins to the wallet the stake time resets itself back to square one? Say I buy coins and send them to my wallet, the 24 hour stake time resets to the point they enter the wallet?

If so next question.

Wouldn't the daily payouts from the multipool reset the stake time? And if so then we would never stake.

The reason I ask is I had stakes showing in my wallet within 4 hours. I sent some Balls from BitTrex then the wallet stake went away. I hover over it and it says "Not staking because I don't have mature coins."

Doesn't reset stake time when you send coins to the wallet.

People you need to learn how PoS works.. I hear some outlandish shit lately.

I understand completely how staking works.

Still doesn't answer my question why I went from 4 hours expected to no mature coins and now 2 days till staking, which I know will decrease as time passes so not a full 2 days.

Don't answer if you can't help with the specific question, it does no one good.

I think he answered your question.  The answer was No, sending coins to the wallet does not reset the stake time.

because the answer was No the second question doesn't apply.

So your reasoning is somehow not correct.  I have yet to see a POS coin with a good estimator for staking time.  Take it with a grain of salt.

Hi folks!

I have a few questions;

1. Can i make an extra address in my snowballcoin wallet and move my coins from the old address
to the new address in the same wallet?

2. Will this help to mitigate the splitting up of the staked coins that happens everyday?

3. Can i repeat this process every few days to keep the staked coins mostly together and stake as one block, or will it slow down my staking process?

Thanks in advance for answers, appreciate it!

1. Yes
2. no they will still split, but you will have them in a bigger pile.
3. Yes and no. You can repeat every few days to put your piles back together, No it will not slow down staking.  Remember you lose whatever stake time you had before the recombine (merge).  And you will pay a transaction fee.
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MCL] MiracleCoin | No ICO | Proof of Faucet distribution | Traders Coin on: November 10, 2014, 06:20:07 PM
This post was inspired from a recent tweet I saw. You guys think magically it's going to rise in prices? The only way it is going to rise in prices is if there is a whale in it who will put buy support to pump the prices. Or if there is no whale, then the community has to put up the support. These alt coins don't rise in prices out of nowhere guys. The dev can put out as many features as he is able to, but if there is no buy support or whale games in the coin, it will be doomed. That goes with every other coin out there. People complain about pumpers and whales, but they dont realize these guys have been the livelihood of alts.

Right now, there is no reason to buy the coin.  I'm guessing soon there will be.  Once that happens the price will rise as the demand increases.  The only reason to provide artificial buy support is if you don't feel the coin will rise in value.

This is not a day trading coin.  As was said before this is a marathon coin....  If you can't wait, or don't feel the dev will deliver then you should get out as soon as you can.  But a lot of folks see the vision, and have seen what the developer has produced so far, and are now willing to back the coin.   These folks, the MCL Community, won't be dumping coins for a cheap price.  As least I hope not.  They are always free to buy more, but buying to force the price to rise is just another way of saying pump.

I was in the faucet payouts early, I still have my original coins staking.  I have not bought more coins.  So I'm in a no lose situation.  I've been in contact with the dev.  Nothing mentioned that I haven't already shared.  I can see the potential in the coin, and feel the dev can too.  So I'll just sit back and see where it goes.

If you see the vision, then why haven't you bought more coins though? Btw Im just curious, I still hold my faucet payouts as well.

That's a good question.  Basically, I don't want to put all of my eggs (coins) in one basket.  I hold a few coins for the long haul.  I'm not sure if I would have bought, had I not got in early.  There is nothing pulling me to this coin.  I don't need a trade bot, I wrote my own.  Also I'm not a whale by any means.  I hold maybe 8-10 different coins, some quite a few other not as much.  I own quite a few different coins, but those are used by my trade bot.
And I'm a firm believer in "Don't trade, what you can't lose".  Crypto currency is not very tasty or filling....

There are currently 1,001,103 MCL's in existence.     I hold > .1%.  A drop in the bucket really.   But if the dev plays his card right I could see this going to .01 BTC.   Which would give it a market cap of $3-$4 million.      It's a penny stock I think could be a nice long term play.

Just my opinion....   Take it,  for what it cost you.....

There's also no reason to trade.  The current bot does not require that you even hold coins.  You can just download the wallet and try the bot...

You need to have patients.  Once he starts delivering things that require either holding/ or paying with MCL, we should see the price start to climb.

Maybe we'll all get a Christmas present.  Or have better luck in the New Year....

having problems with my wallet

Assertion failed

Program: c:\users\blitz78\downloads\qibuck-qt.exe
File: src/kernal.cpp, line 372

Expresion: pindex->pprev || pindex->GetBlockHash() == (!fTestNet ? hashGenesisBlock : hashGenesisBlockTestNet)

can anyone help with this problem as i have lost all my coins otherwise Sad

First did your system crash while the wallet was staking?  I had the same problem with 3 wallets, twice now.  Your coins are safely in the wallet.
Back up wallet.dat.  Then in the Appdata/Roaming  Delete all of the files, except, wallet.dat Qibuck.conf  and peers.dat (this one is optional).

Make sure you delete the 2 folders.  Then restart the client.  It will have to re-download the blockchain, but everything should be good to go.

I think something gets left in a weird state when the client just goes away.

Peers.dat has the latest ip addresses of good nodes.  I've run into problems in the past where I couldn't reconnect to the block chain.  Deleting that file has fixed it.
