821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 31st South East Asian Games on: May 20, 2022, 11:26:50 AM
Crazy domination of Vietnam (although the number of gold medals compared to medals of other denominations looks suspicious). Can anyone explain what is causing this (other than Vietnam hosting these competitions)? As far as I remember, Vietnam does not show anything like this at the Olympics. I heard that this country is actively developing - maybe sporting achievements reflect this?

The competition in Olympics is far from South East Asian games obviously.

Here in SEA games, it's only limited, of course, to South East Asian countries. In terms of sports, no country here is the most dominant in the majority of sports. It's like countries here have different specialties for example PH is the most dominant in Basketball but if you looked at the medal tally, they are in 5th place. We are also dominant in Women's weightlifting but still, rankings don't change. That's because the competition here in SEA is close, different from the Olympics.

Being in a host country is really an advantage as it gives pumped to the athletes to do their best.
822  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eastern Conference Finals (Heat vs Celtics) on: May 20, 2022, 11:14:26 AM
Looks like the Heat need these 2 things.
1. A second or third player that can help Butler offensively.
2. Kyle Lowry

I have to agree that Jimmy Butler is the only player in the Miami Heat that play good even when losing. There's no help from his teammates once they are downed like giving up the game early. If Miami Heat doesn't have Jimmy Butler, they might exit early in the playoffs.

I also noticed in the whole playoffs series of Miami Heat that when they are winning, it's only Jimmy Butler as the reason and no one else. What happened to those young Miami Heat that feels pumped during the NBA Bubble Finals.

I think Kyle Lowry is out for the rest of this playoffs. I agree he will be a good help because of his experience. But even if he comes back, he might be having a slow adjustment because of his long rest.
823  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causing victim to scam his family on: May 20, 2022, 10:57:33 AM
Yes, gamblers should take full responsibility just like shopaholics, alcoholics and other people with addictions. If we start dividing this responsibility between those who advertise (of their product which, when used in reasonable quantities, does no harm) with people who consume it uncontrollably and face unpleasant consequences, we will harm all parties.

Same in cigarette advertisements - "smoking is dangerous to your health"
Same in liquor advertisements - "drink moderately"

Some gambling sites also have a banner or terms pointing to "gamble moderately" or "responsible gambling". Since these companies are promoting their products and services, obviously they won't say stop doing this or that.

We, as a consumer and clients, should be responsible for what we are doing.
824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Any changes experienced within body - Gambling??? on: May 20, 2022, 10:46:13 AM
People may experience:
Pain areas: in the abdomen
Pain types: can be recurrent in the abdomen
Gastrointestinal: change in bowel habits, constipation, diarrhoea, inability to empty bowels, indigestion, nausea, passing excessive amounts of gas, or urgent need to defecate

These conditions are needed to check by medical experts in the health field. I doubt that just being addicted to gambling will lead to that experience. There's no explanation to relate gambling to that status you mentioned.

Don't act as an expert on things you didn't know or are familiar with. How come you conclude those are because of gambling?

You are not in the place to summarize what's happening to you so better have a check-up to know the real score on your health.
825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 20, 2022, 10:33:20 AM
I was wrong thinking Miami Heat will have a 2-0 before Game 3. My guess is, that the Heat and Celtics will take their respective home advantage then they will meet at Game 5 with a 2-2 series then that's the time we will have a headache on what team has the upper edge.

The Boston Celtics take that Game 1 loss as a lesson and look at what they did, defeating Miami Heat by a large margin right at their home court. The Celtics will be back at their home and maybe can get a 3-1 lead before returning to the Miami Heat arena.

For today's game against Vietnam, the handicap is -33.5 @1.84, a very high handicap but I think it can be covered as basketball is not the sport that Vietnam does love.

Unfortunately, Vietnam got it covered as the PH won by 28 points.

Can't really trust that high spread when playing against the host country.

PH team just toys them that's why every play isn't serious at the end. It is called garbage time that's why Vietnam was able to cover the spread. It should be over 50 points lead if the PH remains serious until the final buzzer.
827  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 19, 2022, 11:30:11 PM
If they don't do this, then the series would be 2-0 most probably.

I think it will be a 2-0 lead by the Miami Heat later. Then, later on, the Boston Celtics will tie the series 2-2 on their homecourt. Miami Heat struggles to play as a visitor against a team that they should handle easily like in their previous series. Celtics is hard to handle at their home court and it's like their players are becoming monster when they played at home.

Miami Heat should do their best to take the 2-0 lead as entering the Celtics arena with a 1-1 series, they might back again at the Heat home with a 1-3 deficit.
828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Commentary and commentators in sports. on: May 18, 2022, 11:22:33 PM
I totally agree with the op, a football match without commentators would be super boring, I've had this experience one time when my television audio system was bad, at my relaxing hour, I decided to just watch a football match thinking I would enjoy it like always since I don't need an audio to understand the game.
I turned on my television and switched to the channel, as I was watching, I felt something was off, the feeling of excitement I used to have when watching football was not there, just then, I realized how important the audio was, and then, I began to imagine a football match without the commentators, and also without the supporters chearing and shouting, how boring and uninteresting such a match would be.

As you said, your television does have an audio system problem therefore when you are watching, it's partially mute or the sounds are crashed. That's really bad.

But I'm sure if your audio was fine and working well, you will enjoy the game without the commentator since you have an interest in the game.

Of course, like anybody, it's really worst to watch with the sounds crashing or muted. It's really boring. But here in your story,  your issue is not on the commentator's problem but a simple audio problem. Smiley

The risk of animals getting tortured is actually the same with ones who are just racing with each other just like horse racing, these horses are trained in harsh conditions in additional of using some whip to discipline the horses. So, it's still an animal cruelty but does the people or government care about this? I think the answer would be, NO.

These horses are trained in a well-developed environment. There's no way the horse owners who are putting big money here and in the end, will do some bad treatment on their horses.  Contrary to what are you saying, they will do everything to make these horses fit in the race.

You as an owner for example and spending lots of money on your horse, do you want your horse to be trained in a harsh condition? Of course, no.

How can you win if you will treat your horses badly during the preparation time?
830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: May 18, 2022, 10:54:57 PM
Spence vs crawford looks like pacquiao vs mayweather way back on early years which the prime of pacquiao that didn't happen not until in 2015 this fight is dubbed as fight of the century. Idk what this fight will be dubbed since both are great and undefeated.

I can't compare it since Mayweather is really dodging Pacquiao during that time. All his requests and demands were being granted starting from a drug test, 60/40 split, and everything else by Pacquiao but still, the fight didn't happen in their prime days.

Here in Crawford vs Spence, the latter didn't dodge him but Crawford's former promoter isn't giving him a big title fight. No choice for Spence but to ignore Crawford and move forward on his own target fights. Now that Crawford is out of the shadow of his former promoter and Spence only has 1 task to finish at their weight class, they will really soon clash no matter what.
831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causing victim to scam his family on: May 18, 2022, 10:43:18 PM
I think both the bettor and the Boyle Sports were in the wrong.

You should also share your own view on why Boyle Sports were also wrong. Technically, they didn't do anything wrong unless they have terms on their service that they will stop any promotional activities on their users if requested. In the story you have shared, the gambler just didn't use the account and decided to stop but emails won't be stopped sending because there's no unsubscription action done by the bettor.

The bettor is wrong here because if the dedication to stop gambling is serious, whatever promotional emails they received are supposed to be ignored. The bettor wasn't able to fight the temptation and now ended up with the worst result.

What a handicap for the Philippines. Cheesy

This just tells us how large the distance of the PH basketball team is to their neighboring countries in the Southeast Asia region.

They have won by 68 and 51 points against Cambodia and Singapore respectively and I think that -33.5 against Vietnam might be covered.

Vietnam won by 32 points against Cambodia though in the event opener.
833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PH banned online cockfighting - Worst gambling-related cases recorded! on: May 17, 2022, 11:57:12 PM
I have read somewhere the newly elected president and its administration will still ban the online sabong just like what the outgoing administration did. Sure the Philippines need the revenue but they cannot afford the consequence.

Before there was no E-Sabong here in the Philippines that's why I think the revenue coming here will be easily covered by the government. Supposed to be one of the good sources of revenue for the government during the pandemic but ended up in a worst result to the lives of people.

I don't see a declined revenue here because like I said, the hype of e-sabong was just around 2 years in operation here.

People here already accept that there's no e-sabong right now because there are still lots of e-gambling here as an alternative.
834  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Mark Magsayo vs Rey Vargas WBC Featherweight Title (July 9) on: May 17, 2022, 11:47:54 PM
I think Magsayo will prepare stamina, defense pattern and whatever preparation he considers to cover all the shortcomings of every boxing match, I'm sure Magsayo is aware of his weak record from previous boxing fights so maybe for the next match he will deliver impressive wins.
Hopefully he would do that, but it's still too early to tell, he has to convince us first and that is by winning this fight without a controversy. A KO would silent people who still have doubted his capacity, so he has to go for that.

Magsayo should convince us to win this fight without a controversy? What do you mean? Is it Magsayo's fault that he fought an injured Gary Russell Jr?

Should we just underrate his performance in that fight? Just because GRJ is injured, Magsayo is supposed to have an easy win on that fight? Everyone is wrong. GRJ is tough and if you expect Magsayo should have an easy fight during their fight, then you guys just degrade the capacity of GRJ.

Like I said, whether Magsayo struggles in the fight or wins, in the end, a win is a win.
835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mind Over Matter In Gambling Using Pendulum on: May 14, 2022, 11:18:23 PM
Sorry for my own view here but predicting based on these stuff is the useless thing I have heard of regarding gambling. Predicting thru experience is what I prefer of. Even without putting a heavy analysis, our experience will tell us where to place our bet.

If your friend do have a good winning chance rate using that pendulum then good for your friend. But don't bring it to the fact that it affects the result. There is no such thing as that and I will just call your friend lucky.

I read the story ad it's all about just magic. Not sense to put magic in my gambling experience.
836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eastern Conference Finals (Heat vs Bucks/Celtics) on: May 14, 2022, 10:53:53 PM
I still think the Heat have the best or complete roster in the East but the Celtics are not that far behind.

That was the impression on the Miami Heat last playoffs but ended up on a embarrassing 0-4 result and eliminated in the First Round.

I understand that last playoffs and current is different but I think Heat is overrated even they clinched the 1st spot in the Eastern Conference.

I'm not with the Boston Celtics though but I will favor Milwaukee Bucks to win and advance to Conference Finals.
837  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Mark Magsayo vs Rey Vargas WBC Featherweight Title (July 9) on: May 14, 2022, 10:34:00 PM
My honest opinion though, Mark Magsayo is now 26 years old, I think he will move on the next division somewhere on his 30s because his body mass will be more fit and much capable on the next division. Just my opinion.

Or maybe much early. He was averaging 2 fights a year and for sure, his promoter won't work on giving Magsayo always in a title defense doubt. If he continuous winning, maybe at 28 he can moved up weight as no choice in the first place but to do that as it's not forever he will just defend his title.

If successfully wins all his title defense, his body might be ready and prepared upgrading on Super Featherweight or Junior Lightweight. Then after 2 years if he remained successful on that weight class, he can now finally take a shot at Lightweight division. That would be his maximum weight class that I think he can handled.
838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: May 14, 2022, 10:18:46 PM
Yes, somewhere in the end of this year or 1st quarter next year is indeed a good schedule to fight if they can agree on terms as soon as possible. Spence is not that heavily damaged in his last fight as well against Ugas and actually, I'm seeing it as a flawless victory on his side.

I think that would be 1st quarter next year. My reason is, they don't want the fight to be held close to the date of the possible trilogy of GGG and Canelo although since the latter loses, there still a match planned involving these 2 greats around September like GGG against an still unknown boxer and Canelo vs Bivol possible rematch.

They maybe don't want people to spend money consecutively on 2 big fights to make the full possible revenue on PPV. Just my 2 cents.
839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 14, 2022, 10:03:56 PM
What's your parlay bet on the upcoming do or die matches on Monday?

Doing parlay is risky in a game where they end up both in decisive series.  Much better to do single pick at those teams who will fight for the semi-finals slots. That's the common approach as a bettor. Although to boost odds, nothing wrong if you will do a parlay if you really like to test your chances.

Did you do these bet on actual or just a simple statement prior the actual betting? Good luck on your bet especially including Bucks and Celtics at your parlay as their series don't have a technical analysis involved but rather, they are just doing their best to win.

This might be a new ERA or Ateneo will bounce back next season? This is actually exciting since a lot of veterans already graduated for both school this year so technically, next season will be more different. I believe some players already able to have a good offer from PBA Teams and the draft today can be more exciting since players from UAAP and NCAA schools are also joining PBA for this year draft.

UAAP and NCAA are also joining? Like these are new thing? No mate. It's usual that most PBA draftees will come from UAAP and NCAA. It's the always case. No other sources where these rookies will came from unless being in a special draft or being scouted by PBA teams.

Ateneo will surely bounce back but it seems that statement is not applicable to them since they have known to dominate the UAAP for long. I'm even more interested that Ateneo will have the same losing rally next season for a change. Tongue
