you can put whatever you want, it just has to be at least certain amount of characters
I got an answer here:

An own password, like you suggested would be much better but didn"t work.

822  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Brainwallet - which - how? on: August 15, 2017, 07:18:27 PM
I wouldn't recommend you doing that. Brain wallets can be very insecure and could put your coins in danger.

Yesterday, I answered a guy that was claiming losing 1BTC with his Brain wallet after someone probably cracked the seed he created. Here is my answer:

I'm sorry for your lost, but there is nothing you can do to recover your coins.

This is why you shouldn't use a Brain wallet. I have seen several threads asking about them, and every time I answered that people are bad at creating randomness, which will always lead them to choose a list of words that are easily brute-forced.

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/41618/why-are-brain-wallets-not-secure-people-keep-saying-it-but-explain-to-me-why
Many thanks for your warning.
I was just thinking about that, because, when I choose a seed and then import in wrong order, what would happen? Would I accidentally import the wrong bitcoin adress?
I need a mindwallet. Isn't there a more secure way to generate? Or I could just choose a paper wallet and memorize the private key somehow?
823  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Brainwallet - which - how? on: August 15, 2017, 05:40:37 PM
IMO you can't do that since there are only specific word list for making address for this recovery seed. Upon searching you can see the wordlist here https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt

You can choose your own 12 recovery seed in order and paste it on the wallet like mycelium, blockchain.info, electrum. Note that paste this words in order, once it mispelled or exchanged of order on importing you will get different set of address.
.
Many thanks. Really awesome, that you found the list for me. Smiley
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think will be the number1 coin? Bitcoin or Etherium? on: August 15, 2017, 04:32:51 PM
Bitcoin and Ethereum have different aspects. Bitcoin was created as decentralised money. Ethereum offers a basis for projects and apps and even has its own programming language. Developers aren't dependend from third party to offer their apps and many crowdfunding projects are realized on Ethereum.  So both are for me the number one.
825  Economy / Service Discussion / Brainwallet - which - how? on: August 15, 2017, 04:25:44 PM
I tried out to make a brainwallet on bitaddress but didn't work because I don't know the allowed seed words. I generated one with my own words (names) and tried to import to mycellium, but couldn't give in my words. Didn't recognize words end and it is not given a space bar.
826  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is hashflare scam?? on: August 15, 2017, 04:18:33 PM
It works fine for me. Did you try password recovery and did you look into spam folder?
Maybe your account is hacked or you used another email? Search also for earlier hasflare emails in your email account. You should get a notificarion, if one changed the email. If all doesnt help ask support once more.
827  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitaddress.org - wallet question on: August 15, 2017, 04:03:09 PM
is there any website I can check how much the fee averages for a certain amount of BTC?

I am looking to buy some BTC now, but the seller is asking around 10% which is ridiculous to me.
Coinmarketcap https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/ is a good site to watch the prices. It shows all relevant markets.
is there any website I can check how much the fee averages for a certain amount of BTC?

Are you asking about bitcoin transaction fees? Or are you talking about the profit that a bitcoin seller wants you to pay him when he gives you some of his bitcoins?

Bitcoin transaction fees are "per byte" and NOT "per bitcoin".  You can get a good estimate here:
https://bitcoinfees.21.co/

If you are talking about profit for a seller, then it is up to the two of you to negotiate a price that you both find acceptable. If you cannot agree on a price, then you can look for another seller.

I am looking to buy some BTC now, but the seller is asking around 10% which is ridiculous to me.

How much more than the generally accepted market price you'll have to pay will depend on a lot of factors.

What markets do you have access to?
How fast do you want the bitcoins?
How convenient do you want the transaction to be?
How much privacy do you want in the transaction?
How much security and/or trust is involved in the transaction?

All of these things have value and have an effect on how much you'll have to pay for bitcoins.
Yes, that is the point, why you have to pay more than the bitcoin price.

Now back to the topic:
I tried to make a brain wallet on bitaddress, but don't know which words I may put into the seed. Is there a database for seeds?

It seems to be still on the way, if you provided the right transactionsnumber.
You can look here

And on blockchain you can watch all your transactions. Just go to the search field.

830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase the Bitcoin Dumpster on: August 14, 2017, 08:16:57 PM
You are absolutely correct.  I lost my phone and now I cannot access my account, and Coinbase could care less.  Looks like I'm going to lose my coins.   Leave this exchange before you lose your coins.

LOL! I thought this was just us. The miss broke her phone in a non repairable way some time ago, she has essentially been unable to access or use her account since then. What compounds the epicness of the situation is the fact she's holding 30ish dollar ETH because of this. We can't even remember how many she purchased; she was switching some Coinbase USD to btc and brought a few with the extra money on the account. So every time ETH goes up, I get sad, then I remember we will access it one day.

Ok, i need an education, how does breaking your phone make it impossible to access your account? I assume it's die to the 2fa, how is getting the 2fa code not possible without your phone?

I just had a service issue with Coinbase on July 29th. I requested service, so they temporarily locked my account. I was shocked. The issues wasnt even a susoected compromise or hack. And the fact that i need to get my BTC out of Coinbase before August 1st made this a very tense situation for me. They wete in immediate email contact with me, unlocked my account on the 31st and i was able to get my Bitcoin out (so as to collect Bitcoin cash elsewhere) easily that same day.

If there is a risk with using 2fa...why should we use it at all?!
Broken phone needn't lead to coin loss, I think. Did you try to login at coinbase.com instead of app? Or are you also locked at their server?

I also had a transaction that looked fullfilled but never appeared to balance. But I think, it was senders fault. Think he returned somehow the BTC because also another wallet did not provide the amount from the same sender.
Coinbase answered me and asked me to provide more info. But it was a quite little amount and I didn't investigate further.
But with one LTC, you should write to support again and again until they will answer. Maybe they are still busy with BCH.
831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about Casino with 0% Edge? on: August 14, 2017, 11:03:25 AM
Yes, there are several opportunities for serving 0 percent house edge. F.e. entry, deposit and withdraw fees. Main games as multiplayer variants, tournaments with ranking, membership fees and many more. With house edge on zero, players will not win or loose in average. So if one wants to permanently win, he will loose automticly. So with professional calculatings a casino will also earn enough with no house edge.
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Trading altcoins - looking for a good website to start on: August 14, 2017, 09:09:20 AM
Thanks guys, I've registered on bittrex and so far it seems fairly understandable. Plus, a minimum order is 0.0005 which is quite all right. One has to send some btc from the wallet onto this exchanger to start, am I right? 'cause obviously I see that I have zero balance right now.  I sort of understand how to get the money onto the website. But what is min withdraw from it? I can't see it anywhere.
You need not send BTC for starting at bittrex. You can send any altcoin that is supported at this exchanger.
There is no withdraw minimum. But it must be higher than the transactions fee.
To get money out of bittrex, just go to wallet balance and click on the "-" of that coin you want to withdraw.
833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need explanation about collecting bitcoin on: August 14, 2017, 06:23:57 AM
I didn't join any campaign, as I was newbie, junior member and member, I followed the recommendations for services here, asked my questions and read in the forum. I learned inside and outside bitcointalk long before I was registered. To read and learn is good but also make own experiences are important to be a worthful poster for campaigns. Some bring technical skills on cryptocurrencies, some have their bussiness, some learned by reading or practice , some learn faster or slower. It is hard to say, what is making more sense for you. If I could decide for me once more, I would join also a junior campaign. Earnings are not high but you take more attention to your posts and read maybe the forum with more interest as you would do without.
834  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the best trading site now? on: August 13, 2017, 09:59:37 PM
Also bitfinex and cryotopia are interesting exchangers. Bitfinex is similar to poloniex with its features (exchange, trading, lending) and cryptopia has many interesting altcoins in its portfolio.
But I would recommend only to put an amount to exchangers with what you will trade soon and hold the other amount in wallet.
835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Alt Cloud Mining Services on: August 13, 2017, 09:54:36 PM
I know there's no use of investing into a bitcoin cloudmining service but what about some alt-coins? Something like ETH or any other alt-coin. Anyone invested in it or had any kind of experience with it? Is it even profitable at all and does it require some huge investments or even some smaller amounts that would accumulate over time would do the job aswell?  Thanks.
.
I know eobot, where you can "mine" several altcoins. In reality only btc is mined but they exchange to your alt, that you choose while mining. But at the moment the ghs is expensive there. You could use their faucet and look a bit around. Also hashflare and genesis offer contracts for altcoins.
836  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! on: August 13, 2017, 07:10:54 PM
The fees are changing within minutes. When they are to high, i wait a few minutes, until they are much smaller. Maybe the fees will go down or at least become more stable in november with lightning network.

On the 05/08 to 12/08 period, I did 20 posts, so im not sure why it says 18 now on the spreadsheet for the second week?.

05/08 to 12/08 is already the third week Smiley That will be counted.
838  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitaddress.org - wallet question on: August 13, 2017, 09:34:04 AM
You just have to import your private key into a wallet, that supports importing private keys. Maybe there is also an easier way to send bitcoins from paper or mind wallets
839  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin Attorney Will Answer All Questions: on: August 13, 2017, 06:35:53 AM
If one earns bitcoin f.e. via signature campaign, when should he pay tax? At the moment he cashed in Bitcoin or when he cashes out to fiat? In Japan its clear, he should pay taxes for the date, he earned the BTC, but other countries f.e. in Europe or USA ?
Many thanks for your awesome thread.

I am not a tax expert but I do understand how confusing taxation is for Crypto-Currencies. There are 2 different taxes. Income tax and capital gains tax.

Income, to the best of my understanding, happens when you turn BTC, into fiat. It is considered income for that year and claimed in that year as part of your entire income, for income tax return purposes.

Capital gains is a bit more complicated. It has to do with the gains you have made on investments. This type of tax is one of the most disliked. It's basically the difference between what you bought an asset for and what you sold it for.

The calculating of capital gains in the crypto-world can be quite complicated. If you buy a coin  and it increases or decreases in price, did you keep track of the price you bought it at and the price you sold it at? Is your trading platform tracking that? Then you use that coin and buy a different coin, then you sell that and buy another coin and so on and so forth; then you add some more funding to the account at the trading platform; are you tracking the added funding separately? Then you continue buying and selling the same coins which are all then grouped together in their own trading platform wallets. You get the drift.

A C.P.A. will understand these things and be able to answer more specifically.

I hope that helps.

Many thanks, your answer helped me really. Although it is very complicated, your answer clarified the both taxes for income and capital.
So as soon as we change btc or cryptocurrency income to fiat, we have two kinds of taxes.
But would exchange to another cryptocurreny already be handled like exchange to fiat, so that already also income tax for that amount would be calculated? Lets say one earns 1 BTC and exchanges half of BTC to ETH. Has he now half BTC also income or only as soon as he pays out to fiat?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWlAl8ZTX3Y
