Neither of those look close to official release yet but it is nice to see project is moving in the right direction. The git repository is not ready yet seems like work in progress. compiled it like any other crypto coin. then xxxx@cryptocoin:~/yacoin$ ./yacoin-qt yacoin-qt: src/main.cpp:2547: bool LoadBlockIndex(bool): Assertion `block.hashMerkleRoot == uint256("0x01222b30def82d9b2ddae9f11e5860e0ce7506bac0ac58cb0703b3d0c578b")' failed. Would be mining possible on WNR3500L router? If yes I'd very interested.
I dont see why not... If you can plug in any usb device (like hard disk, dongle, etc), you should be able to mine from it.

Looks more like Klondike Sudoku.
What about fitting them into a server rack? Thoughts?
rack dimensions is 48.26 cm x 44.958 cm . You could have 4 * 20x20cm boards per layer. If you have to use a case (hosting in a datacenter) i guess a 1U case should be sufficient for 1 layer(by removing fans from heatsink and placing them in front/back of the case). Otherwise just stack em up using spacers.

These "people that invested too much in Application Specific Integrated Circuits for Sha-256" will have the biggest part of hashrate. They simply don't let change the algorithm.
That isn't really something miners can dictate. Mi bedaŭras memvola, sed vole aŭ nevole ministoj havas la povon ;-) It the miners with the highest part of HR don't switch, the blockchain will fork, with the SHA256 blocks as the main ones, and the others simply orphaned. NO. Its upto each client installation to decide what block they will use and validate. If bitcoin issues a new client with new algo going forward, the fork used by most users (especially exchanges and traders) would be the prevailing one.

USB 3 would be fine. Even my laptops have USB 3. Is using a hub that can provide 1 amp and running the whole thing in USB 2 asking for trouble?

Cute.
The correct price is what people will pay.
I'm not buying at this price because I expect the price will drop a lot.
Yes and no. The correct price is the price that maximizes their OVERALL profit (not per-unit) and gives their investors the greatest return. 2BTC is a 'get-rich quick' price that will quickly taper off into irrelevance. I imagine their plan is probably to sell at 2 BTC for the first couple of weeks, until they've swept up all the 'tards who can't do math, and think buying NOW will make it profitable. Then drop the price to 1.5 BTC to pick up the 'tards who think they can turn a profit at that price. Then drop to 1 BTC and pick up the fence sitters who don't mind if they ONLY break even. Then they'll drop to .5 BTC and sell to people who can do math... Or maybe we will just mine with the ones we don;t sell for 2 btc... Organizing a group buy in Thailand?

Would you ship to Asia?
Ill wait a few days to see if an Asian group buy pops up or not. if not then I would need to participate in a US/EU group.
id like ~20 pcs... (a mini group buy in itself)

I was thinking about FC , what do you guys think? Is there a room for btc-gold ltc-silver fc-bronze ? Or should I go for ltc? I am looking at http://dustcoin.com/mining here and it shows I can make decent return on FC but I am not sure if its easy to sell it that easily:D selling is easy. both vircurex and btc-e accept it.. simply convert them to whatever currency u wanna hoard in. But srsly... dont cpumine on your laptop... ur going to ruin it.

Hey Cuz! I dont think ud get anything substantial in local stores for $250. The connector for connecting a GPU to laptop (asuming it exists and works well), would have to be ordered online anyways, no way ud find it in a random store. Then add price for the GPU... Even if u find a setup for $250 .. it would use so much power that waiting a couple of weeks for the usb dongle thingy from ASICMINER would still be cheaper. No way is anybody gonna sell u FPGA @250. They seem to be selling out like hot cakes... maybe in a months time they get cheaper.
|
|
|
BTW, I will buy 10 if it prices at 1 Bitcoin. As 2 Bitcoin, at most I can afford 1 USB.
Quoted for those who think ASICMINER is charging too much. Of course everyone wants them cheap, but these are the only ASIC devices available right now, and there is a limited number that can be produced. They are going to sell out @ BTC2 as fast as they can ship them. Nothing is free, this isn't a get rich quick scheme for customers. I guess I shouldn't be surprised if they actually sell these out. The world is FULL of idiots... Oh well. Your money... Reality check: There are people in this world who have real jobs and are not mining to feed their families. They just want to be part of something awesome like bitcoins.

Would it run on a Raspberry Pi?
I don't see why not. My goal is to run it on raspi What if I would only like 1-2? Am I screwed?
Small ppl like us we need to wait for the retail sellers (or group buy arrangements).

i get this error, someone know what it is? since i am fckin retarded i am willing to pay 0.01BitBar (i have it in my wallet but dont know is there any fee for sending) and 5FTC for someone who help me to get FTC p2pool completely functional do you have any files matching C:\Windows\System32\python*.dll ?

Looks good, i see it has a seed. Will try it tomorrow(past bedtime). But i see incompatible changes in this version, i.e. it mungles up some litecoin things. (example: https://github.com/skralg/p2pool-feathercoin/commit/bb5b1edbf0e95565bed127281a88a13df8d7cf77 ) Would it be possible to keep it clean, and just add feathercoin things, that way the changes can be pushed into the original p2pool repository. That would be most convenient, rather than tracking forks and debating over which to use. ^ If answer to above is no, then let me know, ill fork the upstream p2pool, use your identifier, prefix and seed and redo the changes such that it doesnt mungle up other coins and apply for pull request.

ok, just seen you are using linux. Use wine or a virtual machine with windows to get your gpu going.
7950. Virtual machine wouldnt work since then id have to figure out a way to get PCI-e pass thru to the VM. Not sure if its possible. Even if possible, my setup wont support it cause it would surely depend on intel VT and i have ancient CPU. That and i wont touch windows, even if it cures cancer. The wine instructions all seem to be for Nvidia... and the thought of using wine scares me.

You need to slide the bar to "full"...otherwise it will not use your GPU while your on the computer more or less.
Nevermind. Just figured out they don't support GPU folding on the linux client (in spite of the option being there). I am not going to install Windows for this.

Python 3.3.1 ... The most current from Python's site over the weekend.
the script worked fine on linux with 2.7.x You may want to try 2.7 ... There are big incompatible changes between 2.x and 3.x , and most people still develop for 2.x unless they explicitly state that they require(or support) 3.
