841  Economy / Speculation / Re: GUESS LIST CLOSEST TO ATH @END OF THIS YEAR on: July 21, 2018, 09:30:22 AM
I will guess $4,000.

Only because if it is that low I will be very sad and will need a few mBTC to cheer me up.

this game is about the highest price between now and the end of 2018.
this game is NOT about what the price will be at the end of 2018.
842  Economy / Speculation / Re: GUESS LIST CLOSEST TO ATH @END OF THIS YEAR on: July 20, 2018, 08:15:44 PM
please write me down for $49942

thanks micgoossens for making another game

good grief...

well, with that last abominable call I think it is fitting that I drop off the edge of the earth for a bit.

Don't put 'er in the ditch while I'm gone guys.

$7400 was a good call, you just made a typo.

Alright, head count!  Is everybody okay?

I'm not sure. Where am I? What's going on?
845  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 17, 2018, 05:39:11 PM

Haha I’m not sure my link is better

It turns a crypto currency address into a unique 3D coloured seashell so you can instantly compare two addresses to see if they exactly match.  A slight tweak to the address gives a sea shell that looks completely different.

that's a neat idea for comparing addresses. comparing only a part of the address is not really secure. thanks for the description.

This guy wrote a random sea shell generator

please explain what this is. I wasted my time drawing this quality image instead of searching for a definition.

Schnorr to be biggest change since Segwit:

Looking forward to some quality Schnorr FUD from Jbear and crew.

segwit and schnorr, we are doomed. I better keep my fiat money. anyonecanspendschnorr!

There’s this thing called a difficulty adjustment.  It can go up, but relevantly can also go down.  With low enough difficulty the entire network can be run with a single laptop from 2009.

I still have a laptop from 2009.  We will be fine.

PS the miners were never intended on being a separate group from the users. Satoshi didn’t foresee ASICs.  Live and learn.

Next difficulty adjustment will likely be a small negative one. That did not happen often in the last year (scroll down):

Interesting.

that's really interesting. Some investors see a loss in hashrate/difficulty as signal for a true bottom.

Buddy, $50 - $60 is not a PUMP.

6280 - 6380 is $100 as promised Smiley

bitcoin looks like it will jump for at least $100 in the next hours. $6500 would be neat

pump signals, get your free pump signals here, top quality wall observer pump signals, pump signals, fresh hot pump signals

guys trust me, I'm in this business for a few months now. I don't read charts or make TA's. bitcoin asks me what it should do next.

boom, you are welcome Smiley

this pump was brought to you by DQMIKWIMD (don't question me, I know what I'm doing), the SOMO alternative

are bots allowed in this forum? We need a bot to report if the mempool reaches a critical predefined level. bob does a good job but he has to sleep at least 8 hours per day. so we need a bobbot.

Bots are allowed, so long as they aren't spammy or malicious.

Part of me really wants to learn how to write bots for these forums; start monitoring my node mempool activity stats, and start barking out posts upon an x% rise over y time.

Or learn how to query market APIs, learn how to use graphing libraries, and spit out graphic posts, but, TBH, my IT/Network/Coding past is behind me.

I want to pursue artistic passions.

Bitcoin/Lightning related matters keep me limber enough - staying up-to-date with tech - so as not to completely atrophy those skills. Fucking around with the official LND release now after upgrading my Bitcoin node from 16.0 to 16.1. Haven't built bitcoind from source, with support for esoteric libraries, in quite a long time.

I will write such a bot and publish my bad code. stay tuned Smiley

edit: well, I stumbled over my first problem. login requires a captcha test where the bot has to prove it's not a bot, haha Smiley
most likely it's possible to login in manually the first time and copy the cookie, I have to try that.

Did my comment the other day start all this mempool talk I have been seeing lately? I don't remember anyone replying to it so I thought it had no impact but I also don't remember people talking about the mempool so much before it so maybe it had more impact than I thought.

So far, it would appear increasing mempool size is a bullish indicator.

At least IMO, FWIW.

The way I see it is that it just tells whether people are moving their coins to an exchange. So what it really tells you is that the price is about to move. Look at other factors to figure out, if you assume that the price is about to move, which direction would it move.

could also mean people bought bitcoin on exchanges and are moving them to private wallets now. or increased adaption. or just spam, who knows.

No I don't think so. Spam maybe but the only good reason I can think of for a random burst of spam is to spoof people who are watching the mempool as an indicator. Possible, interested in what others think about the possibility of this. But if we remove spam from that list I don't think the other things can explain a random rapid surge in the mempool size very well.

Adoption is a gradual thing, I mean even if Trump him self came out tomorrow and said "I'm ordering the us treasury to buy bitcorns hand over fist!" All the investors who came running to sign up for exchanges wouldn't all be getting on at the same time. And they wouldn't all be trying to withdraw at the same time. Many would leave funds on the exchange for a while, some forever. Their withdraws would be staggered, it wouldn't show a big spike in the mempool size.

A sudden spike, I still think, is an indicator of panic. It could be FOMO panic or panic from crashing prices but it has to be some sort of panic. (or maybe spam if that is actually happening)

Who would have thought that you could take down two skyscrapers with a bunch of box cutters?

Not me. I am of the opinion that the governments official conspiracy theory is one of the least plausible of the many conspiracy theories I have encountered regarding that event.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuC_4mGTs98 Their story is actually rather comical when you lay it all out.

you are right, (FOMO) panic is also very likely. but there are no actual news which could cause such panic, we are sideways for weeks now.

I'm also interested in other possibilities for such an increase.

And there we go; breaking yesterday's mempool high.

Holy wow. When they ban someone for life they REALLY ban them. Every thing he ever posted and even posts that were a reply to him; vanished.

Yeah, that's at least the 4th time he's been banned.
Even if you don't care for him or his ideas, it's hard to argue that he's not a net benefit to this forum.

to be honest I hope we don't make the mistake to overhear and underestimate warning comments. We should avoid living in an echo-chamber, accept critical opinions and reavaluate our knowledge from time to time.

Played with different SMA intervals, until 3 bottoms lined up perfectly (at 56-hour SMA):

I don't think we will see it take its course. I feel like it will end abruptly and just leave everyone behind hoping for 5.6k but they will never get their way! Smiley

Huge buyout coming soon! Cheesy Cheesy

the triangle is almost pointing to a possible breakout at the ETF decissions day on 10th august, just 20 days off. considering the long timespan of this graph, they did a good job manipulating the market and choosing this date. *conspiracy*
