The board Im currently working on has controller 1.3 in it, I now want to get the glasswalker bitstream controller in there, but spiprog gives me an error and suggests that I have incorrect dip-switch settings, miner are as they are guided in the pdf accompaning the glasswalker controller. SW1 all on SW6 2nd off rest on. Other positions "any setting". What am I doing wrong this time ?

If someone compiles cgminer with the proper baudrate, I'd like to leech a copy off him, I hit my "learn new softwares per day limit" some time ago for today : /
pretty please.
844  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Quad XC6SLX150 Board - Initial Price £400/$640/520€ on: July 26, 2012, 06:29:30 PM
Glad to hear you guys are getting positive results!

Can you post a screenshot of your miners in MPBM?

Also is MPBM reporting hashrate correctly? (I hoped I had fixed that but have yet to test it). If it is that's awesome.

Well so far so good!

I've just finished the rewrite of the UART code, it should solve the 4th slot problem (I hope). This build will be 150Mhash, but it's better than an idle chip. (so flash the 175 on the 3 that work, and on the 4th flash the 150).

It's still synthesizing and could be up to 24h for me to close timing on this one, but I hope it will be quick.

This one also has several more improvements. So once this is working, and tested. I'll hit it headon with all my compute power to optimize and push for a higher timing (as high a hash rate as I can get out of it).

We're getting closer!

EDIT:

Also those of you who have it working, can you post your board serial numbers with success? I hear from Enterpoint that boards under ~50 will possibly have more issues than the higher number ones. My dev board at home is #1 so it's the "worst case", but would be good to know if all of you so far are in 50+ boards, or if anyone is having success with an early board.

Thanks!

Im getting the same exact results with cgminer an glasswalkers bitstream. I suppose this is the point where I  need to learn how to compile crainsmoreworker... there isnt a windows build out there, right ?

okay, loading makomk 140 bitstream: no success, only f#1 doing sth, but not reaching cgm or mpbm Sad

now trying to load into flash first...

what about the idea of grabbing an irc channel? #cm1 #cairnsmore #enterpoint or sth?
#cm1 up on freenode

Isokivi,

when i start cgminer or even bfgminer, i get that error different COM's when i try to start it serval times. I was lucky and got it after 14 start tries start up propably. But that is why i'm using mpbm with my cairnsmore worker. It get the boards at 3 try in the worst case.

I use the testing branch of mpbm.

Update on the makomk bitstream:
140: Is working on 9 of 10 boards without problems. Invalids <1%, combined MH/s per board is 560Mh/s. Pool rate is ~5,62GH.
150: Is working on fpga pair 0/1 without problems, but on pair 3/2 invalids >15%!

Will test Glasswalker's bitstream later on one board, because it's slower (525MH/s).

eb
The problem I had with mbpm is that the wep-interface used to configure it is distorted for me. I cant for example even push the button for worksourdes, I found nothing of this in mbpm's thread and no one is replying in the irc-channel so Im going to test glasswalkers bitstream in a few minutes.

- Use enterpoint commandlines to flash the 4x matrix chips (from original document) using the .bit file I posted (in the zip).

"No JTAG Chain found"

Im stuck here.

Take a look here -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=78239.msg1055321#msg1055321

I hope it helps.

Thank you once again, it does help.. wonder why I missed that, I was using the same image at enterpoints support page as reference.

3 ppl agreeing on the escrow is just not enough, imho. I have nothing agaist zephir, nor can I say anything for him. Just havent paid that much (or any) attention to he's doings in the bitcoin world. So ramp up some more support and I'll change the post.

Hi Isokivi,

sorry if I got it wrong: you as the thread owner and bounty initiator should have done the escrow, but AFAIR you refused to do that and since some of the folks here know and trust me, I took the initiative. That might have been premature, but anticipating the bitstream to be ready this week it was not too early. If you changed your mind and want to take the responsibility, I'll be glad to send you the collected coins or give you the private key to the existing address.

Otherwise (as already stated somewhere) having 50 CM1 boards I have a personal vital interest that the advanced bitstream shows up as fast as possible and the bounty gets paid. If you need to check whether you want to trust me, just visit my mining bond thread (see my sig) and read the second post.

Thanks, Zefir

All I would like to see is that the majority of pledgers agree that you are "ok" to do the escrow, got no other problems with this.

nice it's working for you now!  Grin

Please try it with mpbm, cgminer works too but sometimes it gets the error when started 0x... should be 0x....

Cgminer is failing on all com-ports. "Icarus Detect: Test failed at \\.\COM20: get 00000000, should 000187a2"

Guess this is what you were talking about.
What version of mpbm are you using ?

I had some trouble (cant remember what it was) with mpbm some weeks ago, so I'll prolly try it with cgminer because Im know the program.

Isokivi,

I know you need to flash to the SPI, but first try the temporary mode. If this works, we can look to the SPI thing.

Please use: xc3sprog -c cm1 -p0 BitstreamFileHere.bit
Use it for p0 p1 p2 and p3. Then test.
The problem I had was the space between -p and the position number, I rammed one trough before I read you post so Im going for all four on the permanent flash now.

Isokivi,

is the LED on the controller flashing/blinking? Or is it off or on permanently? With my dip settings?
It is on, constantly. Could you take a look at the command im pounding in, I guess the problem lies there.
Code:
xc3sprog -c cm1 -p 0  -Ixc6lx150.bit makomk_icarus_cm1_150_test.bit
855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Quad XC6SLX150 Board - Initial Price £400/$640/520€ on: July 26, 2012, 02:44:55 PM
HowTo for Makomk bitstream 140:
Controller rev. 1.3 is tested be me. Please update to it and don't forget a powerdown after flashing it.

For temporary mode:
SW1 #3 off  others on
SW6 all on

SW2 and SW5 all on
SW3 and SW4 #2 off   others on

When you have these settings, the LED from the controller is no more flashing, it's on or off completely. EDIT: if it is still flashing, something is wrong and you will get errors.

Then flash it with this command:
xc3sprog -c cm1 -p0 BitstreamFileHere.bit
xc3sprog -c cm1 -p1 BitstreamFileHere.bit
xc3sprog -c cm1 -p2 BitstreamFileHere.bit
xc3sprog -c cm1 -p3 BitstreamFileHere.bit

This is all, now switch SW1 #3 on again.

I hope it helps a bit.
eb
Thank you

I am however attempting to do a permanent flash because my physical setup makes cycling power on individual boards nearly impossible and becase of this yor guide results in the same 2bitfile propably not loaded" Ive been seeing so far.
[edit]
swapping switch 6 off like the controller 1.3 picture says is not the solution.
856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Quad XC6SLX150 Board - Initial Price £400/$640/520€ on: July 26, 2012, 02:32:38 PM
Quick update, I'll push up the bitstream file later tonight. I have yet to test my bitstream with this new controller from Enterpoint (before now I was only able to get it running stable on one position at 175Mhz). So I will test it as soon as I get home tonight (probably not until about 8pm EST) and as long as I can get 1+hr of 175Mhz on 3 of the positions I'll push the .bit file up.

As I posted in the bounty thread, I'm also working on further improvements on the bitstream (I'm re-writing the UART core from scratch to toss out the "flaky" one that ngzhang used in the icarus bitstream).

Anyway, so provided my test goes well, I'll have this bitstream out later tonight. Sorry for the delay folks.

After this release I'll continue on my next iteration of improvements, in this version it will be a 150Mhz build which should have many improvements (which could be installed in the poorly performing slot for now) which I will then push up to 200Mhz through further timing optimization.

I'm also working to remove the need to use any third party tools besides Xilinx ISE to compile the bitstream, so in my final release, it should be fully buildable with only the base Xilinx ISE.

Thanks for your patience!

I'll gladly start testing this if you can give me the dipswich settings and make sure my command:
Code:
xc3sprog -c cm1 -p 0  -Ixc6lx150.bit new bitstream neme here .bit
is correct Smiley

Does this refer to porogramming or running settings: "  Set SW1 and SW6 according to the "Twin Build (Icarus)" diagram on http://www.enterpoint.co.uk/cairnsmore/cairnsmore1_support_materials.html and SW2/3/4/5 according to the "Initial Shipping Build (low performance) diagram. Load firmware, start your mining software and cross your fingers." ?
I think you should be able to use those DIP settings for both programming and running the mining FPGAs.
The programming failed, in controller rev 1.3 swich 6 needs to be in a different position to allow the spi flash, trying it now.
[edit] failed again.
[edit2] it's just me failing prolly, I swear the god I'll celebrate the day when I never ever have to touch those annoying dipswiches ever again. (have I mentioned I've positioned my boards and psu veri high and that I get to climb on a kitchen-stool every time I need to do anything on them?)
[edit3] no, cant program with these settings, ebereon please jump in and tell me how you did it!
[edit4] hmm, perhaps my problem lies here (because i dont fully understand why the command should have 2 bitstreams:
Code:
xc3sprog -c cm1 -p 0  -Ixc6lx150.bit makomk_icarus_cm1_150_test.bit

OK, ebereon seems to reckon this works so let's give it a go. http://www.makomk.com/~aidan/makomk_icarus_cm1_20120726.zip contains two Icarus-style bitstreams clocked at 140 MHz and 150MHz that should run on all the FPGAs of the Cairnsmore1, effectively turning it into a pair of slightly slow (280 Mhash/sec each) Icarus-like boards that you can use on your existing miners. The 150 MHz one's untested so I'd recommend starting with the 140 MHz bitstream. 560 MHash/sec per Cairnsmore1's certainly not all that bad.

You want the normal (non-Glasswalker2-alpha) controller for this. Set SW1 and SW6 according to the "Twin Build (Icarus)" diagram on http://www.enterpoint.co.uk/cairnsmore/cairnsmore1_support_materials.html and SW2/3/4/5 according to the "Initial Shipping Build (low performance) diagram. Load firmware, start your mining software and cross your fingers.

Source code is... ahahahahah. It's included as required by the license, but unfortunately a lot of undocumented manual fiddling is required to get from there to the bitstreams.
Controller 1.2 or 1.3 ?
