8401  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Futures and/or Options Exchange? on: January 23, 2013, 09:25:38 AM
As always with uncertain times why don't you buy Gold/Silver? There are plenty of people trading it in Bitcoin right now so maybe that's your best bet until a more long term solution is found.
8402  Other / Meta / Re: Bot attack on: January 23, 2013, 09:12:05 AM
I'd like to be able to better admin tools personally, nothing worse than having 32 spammers popping up all over the place and having to single click them all to get rid of them Sad
8403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using squares, circles and triangles with colours to represent bitcoin addresses on: January 23, 2013, 08:35:36 AM
I like that idea a lot, in case you didn't gather from my rants about math I'm not a mathematical thinker, shapes etc. are generally how I see the world not only that, if these could be turned into QR codes or even our usernames etc, that would be fucking badass!

They remind me a lot of the Japanese clan mons ( emblems ) in Shogun 2, maybe we could have our own unique symbols for Bitcoin addresses Wink I bet this would get quite a bit of attention from normal people too.

Edit: I like this a lot lol! Cheesy I put my username in and it popped out the avatar I put up Tongue
8404  Other / Off-topic / Re: Avoiding main stream news. on: January 23, 2013, 06:37:26 AM
If we decide to insulate ourselves from news because it is always negative, we are insulating ourselves from reality.

but we're talking about 'mainstream news' and you are assuming that represents reality.

Thank you, was just about to think up a response to this and you came out with the perfect one, I made a thread like this OP awhile ago and I was in the exact same situation as you, I am sick of the blatant fear mongering and lies, I will no longer get my news in radio/television form because the so called journalists on there aren't actual journalists, they're just actors who read out the news given to them by their governments in the appropriately scary tone this is why we can get it going on 24/7 because from what I know they have a network of people who will tell them about big events so they can just go there and pose for the camera or cause panic.

Nah, fuck that, I'm not playing along anymore, I have better things to do, I'm also a better person than that, if you still want to get news from these companies you can, I advise looking at it in written form, it actually becomes vaguely amusing after that because you see other people pointing out how stupid they are in the comments section and the articles these people write are a lot less threatening in written form.

Of course you can read the comments until they disable them because it's filled with people expressing opinions they disagree with Cheesy
8405  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bulgarian Politician Attacked With Pepper Spray Gun on: January 22, 2013, 05:16:41 PM
Unfortunately even if this wasn't real ( I'm sure the media will report it that way things seem a bit unclear ) we're going to see a lot more of this kind of thing happening as people get more and more sick of being blatantly ignored.

Current 'Democratic' elections summarised at least in my country the UK and in the U.S:

. Generic Imperialist Party gets elected on promises they will pay for with debt dumped on everyones' children with barely 50% of the overall vote, completely ignores anyone who doesn't vote for them as long as they get into office

. Generic Imperialist Party expands power drastically making it much more difficult for competing political ideologies to get in

. Generic Imperialist Party outright ignores it's own supporters

. Generic Imperialist Party gets either booted out for a 'new' Generic Imperialist Party comprised of people who grew up under the old regimes followers and thought it was fantastic or the Generic Imperialist Party gets elected again

. Cycle starts all over again and the people who suffer the most are the children who have to work far longer than they should have to for less because everything is so expensive because the central banks enable all of this money printing etc.

So yeah, not surprised this is happening, I'm pretty pissed off about it to, but I support stuff like Bitcoin rather than killing people because I know that's the real answer.
8406  Economy / Marketplace / Appraisal Thread on: January 22, 2013, 02:56:59 PM
I'm sure there will have been people like me who are wtfing all over the place about how to price any goods to sell, particularly digital stuff, well I figured now would be the time to make a thread, or perhaps even an entire section? Specifically for asking around about how much people would pay for something, the worst one I think is artwork because you can have a painting that's of the exact same thing worth $1 and then another worth $1000 at least stuff like gold/silver have a mostly set value!

So post photos of your stuff here or anything else that you'd sell to people with an explanation of what it is, I'd also like to see people posting what they think of it and what it might be worth or even if an explanation of why they wouldn't buy it. While I'm sure there will be disagreements and bickering if you think you wouldn't pay anything give reasoning! What would be very helpful to sellers is if you gave reasons as to why you wouldn't pay anything and if that can be fixed that way when they actually put their stuff up for sale everyone will be happy.

So I'll start off first and submit a painting I'm working on, I don't expect this to sell for very much at all but equally I have no idea how to price it, I'll probably put it up on BitcoinDL or some place like that.

Be sure to post your own goods here as well.
8407  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much do you guys make off mining? on: January 22, 2013, 01:24:51 PM
I think anyone who has the slightest understanding of Math knows that mining is a pretty stupid thing to do if you're in it to make money, I'm working on real products to sell for Bitcoin instead Cheesy

Don't mine Bitcoin, make products and get money off the suckers miners who will ruin their computers doing the mining for you.
8408  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Petition the government to declare the legal status of Bitcoin? on: January 22, 2013, 08:09:11 AM
LOL I'd still like to see their response, especially if they ask "What's Bitcoin?" Tongue
8409  Other / Politics & Society / Petition the government to declare the legal status of Bitcoin? on: January 22, 2013, 07:59:54 AM
I'm sure you guys will have already spotted this but have you heard of the We the people government website? It's actually quite a good idea to make the government more transparent, I wish more would do stuff like this, but if you don't know what the site does it's like many of those other petition websites except that if you reach a certain amount of signatures ( Last I looked it was 100,000 ) you get an official response from the Whitehouse.

I thought maybe this would be a great idea for publicity, I can't do a thing because I'm not a U.S Citizen but maybe someone who is could make a petition on there to get the attention of the white house since we have so many people now wondering what they're going to do about it.

8410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the need for Litecoin's shorter blocks? on: January 22, 2013, 07:47:29 AM
Need: Send my litecoins faster to and from the exchange...and sellers and buyers of goods.

I hate waiting for bitcoin....so slooooooooooow.  Cheesy

Granted the wait times are a bit of a nuisance, but it's still better than waiting for a bloody bank to do anything LOL Tongue
8411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I predict we will soon be pricing everything in satoshis. on: January 21, 2013, 05:46:23 PM
Yeah, what the hell is the point in calling them Satoshi's? There's nothing difficult about writing 0.000001 Bitcoins, this is reminding me of silly overcomplicated bullshit that financial people try to use to confuse people and I already see it happening with these survey sites who say it to try and make you think you're getting a lot when you actually aren't. Talk about it amongst yourselves if you like, as for me? I don't like making up words for things we already have words for in the first place, not when it comes to business anyway because it is pretty dishonest.

Next we'll be seeing people re-invent mathematics to make 1 + 1 = 3 and 2 + 2 = 6

Also, while it is possible Bitcoins will be insanely valuable, as people have said in conversations with me that would take an insane amount of printing for that to happen in reality, 1 Bitcoin by itself is already worth quite a bit when you consider other currencies out there.
8412  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keep a low profile, and hide your identity to be safe. on: January 21, 2013, 08:20:50 AM
lolz Cheesy should be careful about that though because then it might just turn into a stupid popularity contest, I've always felt that the internet is one of the best resources you have as long as you check over things properly, I swear I've learned more here than I have in most 'official' places of learning, it's also helped me recognise the bullshit so I've found some pretty good teachers.
8413  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keep a low profile, and hide your identity to be safe. on: January 21, 2013, 08:13:52 AM
lol I got that kind of bullshit when I was in primary school and onward, teachers don't like it when you make them look bad in front of their peers because of course the schools are all ranked etc. in how well they do and if they have to report cases of harassment etc. publicly to the government it won't go down well with their superiors, then later on I started getting really fed up with what I was being taught when I actually decided to learn about it properly.

The right thing to do would've been just to fix the issue, and thank the student. Sadly, not everyone reacts this way.

This kind of bullshit is precisely why I'm staying away from universities, internal politics have no place in learning and that's all this is, it's pretty obvious someone didn't like the blatant flaw he found in their coding.

Greed .... AGAIN (as we see in the religious ASIC WAR  today).

The hilarious thing is if you look at the numbers they're spouting for the ASIC it isn't actually that impressive, like with anything Bitcoin mining, I think the objective is entirely to acquire Bitcoins, it isn't to profit from them like with real life mining, in fact, a pick axe and some Geology lessons would probably serve all these guys better in the long run than paying for ASIC's.
8416  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: RPG MO - an indie mmorpg on: January 20, 2013, 06:07:50 PM
MMORPGs aren't really my thing anymore unless something amazing comes along but it's nice to see new stuff get made, if I could offer a suggestion? Make sure you don't let it get anywhere near pay to win, put some advertisement up instead or something like that, I've seen way too many games go to the route of getting players to pay for in game items and stuff lately which are basically cheats and it makes the game suck for everyone else.
8417  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'd like to ask for some help. on: January 20, 2013, 05:50:11 PM
Taking a $1,000,000 bet on the internet seriously is a bit like taking Mitt Romney's $10,000 bet seriously, either way you're all going to end up looking like pillocks, it's a bit like taking a troll seriously, you can't go back and say "WE THOUGHT YOU WERE SERIOUS BURN IT! BURN IT!" and come out of that looking intelligent when you were just as stupid as the person who said it, I've seen it happen though lol. I don't know what happened precisely but if he did owe people money, then he should pay it back, that's a given and completely unrelated to such a stupid sounding bet, but if he didn't owe any money at all, then you guys are screaming drama and I'd be wary about even selling Manga to you for 0.5 BTC like I plan to let alone anything pricey like hand made Jewellery because this is actually looking a bit like the same situation that johnniewalker had with people trying to profit from internet drama and blackmail him into paying up without any proof.

I'm hoping this is just one or two scam artists I have to be worried about that have snuck into the community and won't be back, not what Bitcoin will be made up of in the entire future.
8418  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin over $15, what does it mean for you? on: January 20, 2013, 04:05:10 PM
personally it makes me anxious because i'd like to be very heavily invested in bitcoins, but don't have any spare fiat to pump into it yet.

if i had a spare $500k, that's about how much i'd be willing to dump in at this point.

That's a pretty ballsy move...

half a million dollars may sound like a lot, but it sounds a lot less when you say 32k btc.

i'm sure there's still a few people around who are sitting on at least that much.

I am still trying to wrap my head around inflation, I had no idea how cluster fucked everything was until I saw real life examples of it happening before my eyes, Bitcoin is jumping like crazy!
8419  Other / Off-topic / Re: I think I spend to much time on this forum... on: January 20, 2013, 03:56:13 PM
Hopefully when I get money and move out I'll get a life.....

Nahhhh too much fun not to Tongue I know what you mean though, maybe you need to occupy yourself with something productive? Problem for me is my work involves a lot of thinking so I find myself posting on here out of boredom whenever I hit a mental wall.
8420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should the exchanges close on the weekends? on: January 20, 2013, 10:05:31 AM
It's entirely up to the exchanges themselves, that's the beauty of a decentralised currency, I for one would be incredibly interested if Bitcoin businesses chose to stay open on traditional holidays compared to the conventional ones.
