861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk is one of the keys to be 100k$ per Bitcoin? on: October 29, 2022, 08:51:58 PM
Although bitcoin doesn't need Elon Musk to be successful on having a much higher price. I think popular person like him might help the price of bitcoin especially he had a significant impact on doge coin in the past, so he may still be able to generate some market hype, but this may only result in a brief pump given the situation right now in various countries, which include inflation and economic crisis, all of which make it difficult for the market to recover and begin a new pump.
862  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bear market likely over? on: October 29, 2022, 07:31:19 PM
Seems the bear market is likely going soonest. Congratulations in advance to those who bought low and those hodling for a long time. There is likely going to be a new all time high to be achieved before this year comes to an end. If you can, fill up your bag but do your own research.

What do you all think about the sudden bounce back and price increase on Bitcoin of lately?

Although it's good that the price made a significant pump, at least this will provide some relief to bitcoin hodlers who had endured the bearish runs for so long. Of course, the bet is on the bulls returning to the market once the resistance at $20000+ is broken. Otherwise, the price may pullback. However, once the resistance is broken and its price retraced and turned the resistance to support, then it will be obvious that the bulls had returned to the market. Still, we need to observe and wait.
863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How mentally prepared are you? on: October 28, 2022, 08:16:33 PM
The rate at which new people are joining the forum and the entire community is very high, which makes me wonder how mentally prepared these new and previous users are for Bitcoin investment. If you are not mentally prepared for Bitcoin investment, it can lead to mental retardation.
First and foremost, before investing in Bitcoin, beginners should learn more about privacy; beginners should start by learning how to secure their files and personal details on the Internet because not knowing or learning about privacy can be a very big risk for them because in Bitcoin investment, you can lose everything with just one single mistake.

After learning enough about online privacy Here, we move on to Bitcoin investment and study how to protect our private keys and seed phrase Here.

How prepared are you mentally as a newbie when the market is on uptrend or down trending?

How mentally prepared are you to be able to survive the market situation by holding onto your coins and not selling them at a loss? Being patient is key since, no matter the market situation, 1 BTC is still 1 BTC.

Before investing in Bitcoin, serious considerations must be made, rather than simply following the trend that Bitcoin investment is a get-rich-quick scheme; this is not the case. Before you begin investing in Bitcoin, you must first learn about the market by observing, analyzing, and examining it.
Be patient enough to study the market so you can know when to buy, hold, and sell based on your investment strategy.

Also, please do not borrow money to invest in Bitcoin, and only invest what you can afford to lose.

They must first get knowledgeable about Bitcoin by learning about it.  Individuals will start to believe in Bitcoin after they have a fundamental understanding of it through the use of sources like the Whitepaper of Bitcoin and Bitcoin Wiki. Most of the time, people are unable to comprehend the need of learning the fundamentals of bitcoin investment before getting started. They have little to no knowledge about bitcoin and ultimately suffer significant losses, regretting their choices in the process and calling bitcoin a scam sometimes. They should also try to consult on some friends who are into cryptocurrency, I think they will help you to start and they can share some knowledge about bitcoin.
864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you Consider the Price of Bitcoin to be More Important than its Purpose? on: October 28, 2022, 06:17:48 PM
There are two types of price movements: bull markets and bear markets. In the bull market, the majority of bitcoin investors are buying, demand outweighs supply, market confidence is at a high, and prices are rising. On the other hand, they are the opposite of the bull market. Bear markets are defined as a period of time where supply is greater than demand, confidence is low, and prices are falling.

In his paper, Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System, Satoshi Nakamoto states that the purpose of Bitcoin is a purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash that would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution.

So far, I would like to think that bitcoin has been living up to the expectations of Satoshi Nakamoto despite the numerous challenges it has encountered. Nevertheless, the price volatility has been a huge concern to so many people all over the world. I want to know your thoughts - Do you consider the price of Bitcoin to be more important than its purpose?

Bitcoin was made for us to send money over the internet. This cryptocurrency was intended to have an alternative way of paying system that operate without the central control. We can't deny that one of the main factors in the massive acceptance of Bitcoin since its beginning has been its price; for most people, the price of Bitcoin trumps its function as a medium of exchange, because of these bitcoin's purpose was being satisfied.
865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will digital dollar be a threat to bitcoin? on: October 27, 2022, 09:57:31 PM
I came across this on the news today, and I wonder if this will be a challenge to the growth of crypto in the united states with the government beginning to consider the digital dollar.
Quote
The White House is particularly targeting the proof-of-work transaction-validation process used by many blockchains, including bitcoin. This mechanism consumes huge amounts of energy because it requires a lot of computing power.

And with everything else, the administration is pushing for a digital dollar, a kind of digital twin of the dollar, at a time when China has taken a step ahead on this issue
Read here
Do you think with the level of civilization in the united states, that the digital dollar will be successful?

Since many individuals view Bitcoin as an investment or asset rather than a payment method that can compete with the established ones offered by centralized platforms, like Visa and Mastercard, it won't be a complete threat to Bitcoin. As an investment and tradable asset, Bitcoin will continue to have high liquidation. It is also important to note that businesses that take Bitcoin do so because they believe in the concept of a decentralized means of exchange.
866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think China will lose by banning Bitcoin? on: October 26, 2022, 06:38:21 PM
I am bullish on the future of Bitcoin as a technology.

We all know that China has a total ban on cryptocurrencies, including but not limited to no mining, no circulation, no trading, no banking services, no listing on exchanges.

What do you think countries have to lose by making this choice?

I think there is nothing to lose on China in banning bitcoin on their country, the thing is bitcoin is a threat to government of China. China wants to control, bitcoin is uncontrollable. The ban on cryptocurrencies is to curtail financial crime and prevent economic instability argues by the People's Bank of China and cryptocurrencies were facilitating capital flight from its markets, bypassing conventional restrictions.
867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is deflation considered to be an admirable feature of Bitcoin? on: October 26, 2022, 05:09:16 PM
Even in cryptocurrencies, there are inflation and deflation in nature. Some have an unlimited supply of tokens like Dogecoin that created in late 2013, making them inflationary while other crypto have fixed amount of tokens in the circulation, making it deflationary. Deflation is considered to be an admirable feature of bitcoin, it impacts consumers positively because it increases their purchasing power, allowing them to save more money as their income increases relative to their expenses.
868  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin Survive A Nuclear War? on: October 25, 2022, 06:06:53 PM
What do you think about it? I read this article in the Market Times https://markettimes.co.uk/cryptocurrencies/would-bitcoin-survive-a-nuclear-war/ and in my opinion I don't see a future 'cause to have access to the bitcoin you need internet

I agree with the content of the article, especially with the quotation “The only way to kill Bitcoin is to make it obsolete… like through nuclear war!”. We all know that if there is war like nuclear war, money is useless, no amount of money can save a life in the right place at the right time. Bitcoin and Crypto needed people for it to circulate, if people died and go extinct because of nuclear war the circulation of crypto will be cut off.
869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Impact of Bitcoin on: October 24, 2022, 08:31:02 PM
Today, bitcoin and other cryptocurrency can be converted into other forms of money and deposited into user's accounts in an instant. Most crypto can be transacted anonymously, generally safe to use and difficult for malicious hackers to break.

Here are some impact that I observed, many governments restrict remittances made from other countries or vice versa making the charges too high, with the use of bitcoin and other crypto, it reduced remittances.

More consumers are using bitcoins. Some legitimate businesses and companies have started accepting crypto as a form of payment. Online shoppers, investors, even some banks are using bitcoin regularly.
870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How important are exchanges? on: October 24, 2022, 05:08:55 PM
Bitcoins can exist without exchanges, but would you support the argument that the existence of exchanges are among the factors facilitating the popularity and accessibility that people have to bitcoins?

Before the development of cryptocurrency exchanges, consumers could only purchase cryptocurrency by mining or by setting up transactions in different online and offline forums.

For me, exchange is important for bitcoin because it is not necessary for bitcoin users of decentralized exchanges to transfer their funds to a third party. As a result, bitcoin users may be sure to be more secure from hacking, fraud, or theft.
871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do You Think Bitcoin Mining Will Be Banned Due to Fears of Climate Change? on: October 24, 2022, 11:18:59 AM
In a world increasingly worried about climate change and its effects on our planet, everything our leaders deem unwanted could be in trouble. We have heard numerous stories about how much energy Bitcoin uses. Those against Bitcoin often say that it requires more energy than whole countries.

But Bitcoin’s Proof-Of-Work consensus algorithm relies on that power to keep the blockchain safe. This will not be a discussion about PoW, its advantages, or disadvantages. It will also not be about how much renewable and clean energy is used in mining bitcoin already.

This is about why Bitcoin is scrutinized while other industries aren’t? For example, a report from 2019 shows that electronic devices on standby in the United States alone consume more electricity than the whole Bitcoin network would in over 3 years. Yet, nobody is talking about their impact on our environment.

If you want to read more about this, Bitcoin’s use of clean energy, PoW, and myths about Bitcoin’s energy consumption, check out Bitcoincleanup.com.

Soon after US President Joseph Biden took office, he signed Executive Order 14067 - Ensuring Responsible Development of Digital Assets. This document mentions words like “environment,” “environmental impact,” “pollution,” “climate change,” “climate impact,” and similar terms dozens of times.

Both the EU and the US are discussing new crypto regulations. One of their agendas is, again, the crypto economy's impact on the environment. Let’s not talk about how the actual goal is to further restrict their citizens from using unregulated and decentralized assets they can’t control or adequately tax through their institutions and puppets in suits.

With all this in mind, what do you think will be the future of PoW and Bitcoin mining?

1.   Do you think it will be banned entirely after scaring people with climate change concerns?
2.   Will they find ways to make it harder to mine Bitcoin? More regulation, bigger taxes, regular inspections, overly complicated paperwork, and heavy fines for not complying with CO2 emissions are some of the ways they could penalize entities involved with PoW mining.
3.   Do you think the world governments could incentivize those still mining with fossil fuels to transition to clean energy?
4.   Or will all this calm down one day, Bitcoin and its POW will be left alone, and world leaders will focus on other, more important things?

Please vote in the poll and share your thoughts and ideas below.

Comparing the energy consumption of bitcoin mining to other innovation, it is lower than the others such as Aviation Industry, Marine Transport Sector, and Air Conditioners & Electric Fan (Source: CoinShares). Bitcoin mining industry consumes less total energy than other industries and it has more renewable energy. Bitcoin miners are starting to use geothermal and solar energy when mining.
872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Crypto Education on: October 23, 2022, 03:23:05 PM
Bitcoin was the first decentralized cryptocurrency, which first released as an open-source software in 2009 but didn't reach public attention.

Now, crypto education becomes a priority for world-class education institutions such as University of the Cumberlands (United Kingdom), University of the West of England (United Kingdom), University of Toronto (Canada), University of Warwick (United Kingdom), University of Waterloo (Canada), University of Westminster (United Kingdom), etc.

Learning cryptocurrency will attract you towards the digital world and internet technology. It will prepare you for the future, since digital world is here to stay, and technology is progressing and evolving rapidly.

Is it time for the whole world to embrace, adapt, add it in educational curriculum and teach cryptocurrency to the youth?
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Crypto-assets can have significant environmental impacts on: October 22, 2022, 04:36:04 PM
The mining of crypto-assets can consume a lot of electricity, which can result in greenhouse gas emissions, besides purchased grid electricity, crypto-asset mining operations can also cause local noise, electronic waste, air and other pollution from any direct usage of fossil-fired electricity, and additional air, water, and waste impacts associated with all grid electricity usage that can affect on nearby communities.

What are your thoughts?
874  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Cryptocurrency and Gambling on: October 21, 2022, 04:08:54 PM
Many people still think of cryptocurrency as gambling. While gambling relies on chance, cryptocurrencies rely on arithmetic and cryptography.

Given the parallels between cryptocurrency and gambling, this makes sense. Both are fast-paced, the value of crypto is unpredictable.

Cryptocurrency is chance-based, rooted in exceptional circumstances like influencer opinions, values might drastically change.

And both crypto and gambling (online gambling) are accessible all day and night.

879  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs Donaire II discussion on: June 09, 2022, 07:43:23 AM
If the fight will be happen Inoue vs Butler, I'd say Inoue will won via KO again since Butler is weaker than Donaire. Honestly I'm surprised Donaire loss via KO on the second round, I thought he will loss above 9 rounds via KO or UD.
Donaire should retire after this fight. I do not know if people would love to watch him in a fight or not, but for his own health he should retire. What you need to understand is that even if you are a sports person, when you are 39 years old, your body is not holding up together like it did back in your 20's, meaning that every punch has a lasting affect more than usual.

Couldn't agree more on this one. The Filipino Flash Donaire should retire after this, he should realized that not all 'aged' boxers can still fight the youngins. I've watched  the very short fight, and I can tell that Donaire wasn't really for Inoue. He's too flashy for Donaire. Donaire on the otherhand can enter another profession in line with boxing. Maybe a coach or trainer would do.
