There was 30 min downtime. PPC memory leak bug stroke again Sad
862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [Pool] Coinotron - pure PPS and RBPPS workers ( LTC: 3.5% and 2% fee ) on: November 13, 2012, 10:16:36 AM
FYI
Usage of PPS and RBPPS workers:

          PPS     RBPPS

PPC     45%      55%
TRC     63%      37%

863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Network hash rate for Terracoin? on: November 11, 2012, 09:37:39 PM
So TRC is in Coinotrons hands?! if you really wanted to control the network you could right?? ok so TRC NEEDS some more pools

Oh Lord Coinotron!

hehe
It is only just guestimate, nothing else Wink

PS
FYI Being the only TRC pool is quite risky!
They may DDOS Coinotron once again as they did it before Smiley
864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Network hash rate for Terracoin? on: November 11, 2012, 06:33:36 PM
Another way of calc total network hashrate:

During last hour Coinotron's TRC pool solved 20 out of 25 blocks working at 54GH.

That gives approx. total TRC hashrate = 54GH * (25 / 20) = 67.5 GH

To the guy with ~70Mh that isn't sending any blocks, your a dick.

I had "pleasure" of dealing with such douchebags in the past. He might be using another accounts with much less hashrates as well.

I have question regarding your PPC pool. Did you collect any PoS blocks?
I didn't. It looks like all coins are withdrawn before PoS threshold period.
It's collected a total of about two since it's been in operation and this is primarily due to initially having a largish PPC balance to handle the startup of the pool. It does seem the turnover from withdrawals prevents POS stakes from having a chance of happening.

Thanks.
In some way it is good news. There is no urgent need to code support for POS coins distribution Wink

Can you merge the TRC pool with the BTC pool?  There's no reason you can't merge mine the two currencies.
If TRC is a clone of bitcoin it can't be merge mined alongside bitcoin. It'd need chain breaking patches to do that. You could merge mine it with namecoin and others however.

Ah. OK. Good to know Smiley

Probably yes. It would require quite a lot of programming because Coinotron's pool software doesn't support merged mining.
And to be honest I'm not a big fan of mm. Let alternative currencies live their lives.

I've added new columns ( PPS share value, Block value, share diff. ) to "Reward System" description.

FYI

I've enabled PPS worker in TRC pool. So now you can use RBPPS or  PPS worker.
Details of Coinotron's reward system you can find here: coinotron.com

TRC speed 15.8 GH miners 17 blocks found 10 already!  Shocked

BTW, BFGMiner is occassionaly - from few to 30 minutes - printing message "Pool is issuing work for an old block". Any known fix?

Maybe it is happening because of those 2 minutes blocks. Faster the network = more cases when your BFGMiner receives info about new block before Coinotron.
Did you try Cgminer?

It's fixed. I had Coinotron and Terracoin server running at same time, and even though Coinotron was utilizing 100% of available
GPU power, Terracoin server was still running in background, reporting block changes to miner. Since LP from your pool detects
new blocks faster, and server still sends data about changes - and some more, I guess - it was neccessary to disable server to
stop seeing mentioned messages. Long story short, it's up to server, not your pool.

Is there any chance you'll add info about TRC earned per share per difficulty on website? It's not like I'm suspicious, but having
that info shown helps remove any doubts about if RBPPS for TRC is really 2% or some other value.

I'm glad that you fixed this issue.
Regarding PPS share rate - I just run out of space Smiley
I must figure out how to add one more column to overcrowded info section.

I've just started TRC pool at Coinotron Smiley

We have started a Terracoin pool !

1. You can use any BTC miner
2. On our website choose worker type TRC. Point worker to coinotron.com, port 8322 or 9322.
3. Depending on worker type you can have PPS or RBPPS rewards

Disclaimer
This is experimental pool. Currently there is no TRC exchange. TRC network is small and prone to 51% attack. You are mining terracoins at your own risk.

PS
Currently only RBPPS worker is available. I will enable PPS one soon.
876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ANN] Solidcoin pool has been closed. Please withdraw coins before 2012-11-11. on: November 02, 2012, 07:17:59 PM
Probably announcement in Coinotron's thread didn't get enough attention of former SC miners.

There is still a lot of Solidcoins in pool's wallet !

Please withdraw your Solidcoins from Coinotron until 2012-11-11.

After that date I will shut down pool's SC client.

5 min downtime in PPC pool to workaround memory leak issue.

Yesterday I introduced few improvements to Long Poll support.
They seem to reduce stale rates quite substantially. Especially in LTC pool.

After 12 hours I measured following stale rates:

BTC: 0.6%
PPC: 0.4%
LTC: 1.1%
LQC: 1.9%

Andy I seem to remember you were testing with some pool software earlier and also observed memory leak issue. Is there a simple way for me to set up a pool software and reproduce this situation? Can you all (Chris, coinotron, Andy) confirm my observations? How fast is ppcoind leaking memory in your production system? Is the leak speed roughly proportional to the number of getwork requests?
It does seem proportional to the getwork requests. When my pool hashrate was greater than 100Ghash it was losing 1GB of memory a day. Now that it's low I only need to restart the ppcoind once a week or so when it reaches 4-5GB of memory.

I confirm. Relation to the total pool speed seems to be proportional.

I prepared list of rpc methods pool calls:
getwork
getblockcount
gettransaction
getdifficulty
