How difficult would it be for one person to offer a bitcoin exchange service? Id like to buy and sell bitcoins. I think one could make a good living from this. How do the middleman exchanges like bitinstant etc work? Where do they buy their coins? I would like to start off accepting moneygram, and money orders to a business type account and eventually credit cards, and other forms of payment.. Why arent there more ppl doing this? What all would have to go into starting up this type of business? I have some capital to begin. About 40 bitcoins, and ~$5000

This is small capitall for exchange business, but you can try. But stay away from credit cards (untill you will have big experience), or your 40btc & 5k will flow to fraudsters very fast

Hard to believe that industry leader will order ddos attack agains competitor with turnouts 20 time smaller. BTC-e has reason to order ddos-atack against MtGox, hoping that some customers will use then as alternative, but not vice versa. So I suppose support was really on drugs) or mistyped somehow))
864  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to get recurring donations? on: October 26, 2012, 10:21:14 PM
We have a subscription payment option that could be used for recurring donations but it is only for Bitcoin

https://walletbit.com/docs/subscriptions

Is this service limited to walletbit users only? I.e. if my customer is using official client, can I somehow create monthly invoice for him, using your merchant services?

е. никак
867  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: CRYPTOXCHANGE ARE CROOKS, WITHDRAW YOUR MONEY NOW on: October 20, 2012, 05:16:03 AM
i agree that it was something supposedly unforeseen, but I agree with BCB, any money you put into bitcoinland should be money you are okay waving bye to in the off chance you get bent over the table

I would disagree. There are some merchants/exchanges, whom you can trust, sending money to exchange is not equal sending them to casino.

It's not a wise decision to trade your rent money though.

I have only few posts, but as you can see from my online time, I'm pretty well familiar with the forum)

I am thinking about bring my flowers selling business online, so I am learning about how to accept bitcoins, and probably will need to ask few questions.

I understand what is bitcoin and how it works, so you will not see stupid questions and spam from my side.
869  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: POLL: What's the *real* reason you ever got into Bitcoins? on: October 19, 2012, 11:59:31 PM
I am just interested in new payment technoligies. Also when I realized that bitcoin community is quite big, but there are not many really usefull services (not mentioning silk road Grin), I decided that I have to create something here)
870  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is mining Illegal? on: October 19, 2012, 11:55:23 PM
Im mining now but my friends ask me: Isnt this illegal?
I asked them why they tough that and they sed: Its actually a program that gives you free money!
It's not "free money", it's fair payment for the useful work you did.

i agree with you The Bitcoin Network pay's you for the work you do.

Even if this will be considered as "free money", there is nothing illegal to take more for free. There are many ways of earning money, that are illegal, but receiving something for free will never be)
