862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum mining still profitable? on: October 06, 2016, 12:33:17 PM
I've got lots of questions about this and I don't even know where to start.
Usually I build bitcoin mining farms and get % every month for just paying attention to them.
Couple weeks ago I got the order to maintain the ETH farm where already are installed 60+ GPUs (r9 380, r9 470x 480x) and they want to expand, maybe 100-150+ GPUs.
I don't know about profitability, because after Litecoins I simply switched to BTC.
Honestly I really don't care if they will loose all their money invested in GPUs and ETH itself, but can I give them some kind of advice maybe?
Until then I have some technical questions (and I don't know ask them here or somewhere else but I'll still ask):
What is the best OS to to install on SSDs? (ATM they have mixed versions of windows). I tried to research but found nothing. Will ubuntu do it's job or win7 professional is better? I didn' liked the EthOS..
What is the best software or any technique to monitor (not control) all the rigs at once? Remotely or locally?
that's it I guess for now (:

The Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 are all fine with the Etheruem mining. For the new AMD cards, they work well with 7 and 10.
thanks for your answer, after some research I thought the same and what about the monitoring software ? Is it possible to monitor all my GPUs at one host computer ?

If you use the Claymore miner, it has built in monitoring software. You can also use the pool to monitor.
I saw the monitoring software I guess Ill build a VPN connection on site to use monitoring system outside the facility.
I'm also stuck with wallets and dwarfpool and maintaining mining config itself, if I won't find out how to miself I'll post here again, anyway thank you for your answer

865  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN Tech WARRANTY SCAM ! WILL NOT REPLACE DEAD ANTMINER S9 on: September 26, 2016, 04:04:31 PM
Guys I'm going to send my two boards to Hong Kong for repair under warranty.
I didn't find any tutorial or something like that for my ticket to be completed and here's the question:

I think I should enter here the tracking number that DHL gave to me right ?
Sorry for my English and not understanding of obvious things.

Yes.

For shippment Tracking Number I use EMS.    Their shipping  form number are also tracking  number. So I write in field traking number before shipping.
Thank you a lot, I'm going to use EMS also. It's cheaper than any other carrier from my country to Hong Kong

868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: September 19, 2016, 04:18:09 PM
I have a mining farm outside my town. There are mostly S9 antminers.
I'm interested if I can use this software in only monitoring purposes, on the place at a farm there are only miners and network equipment no PC or other host devices. Is it possible to use Awesome Miner remotely ? Or I need a host computer at a farm ?
Awesome Miner needs a Windows computer to run and a network connection (either local LAN, over Internet or some kind of VPN) to the miners. Either you need to put a PC on the site, or you need to setup VPN and connect to the farm over Internet, while running Awesome Miner somewhere else.
thanks for your answer, I guess a normal VPN router will do the job
Lets say I have a host on site, is it possible to monitor from anywhere without using rdp or vpn? Just with AM?

same story with my S9 B13
I ordered 7 S-s, 5of them are working great, some temperature issues, but still they are all good. Only two of them has dead boards I guess, the strange thing is that on freq 300 all three boards on those two miners are working great, but when I try to change freq on above 500 only two boards are working on those miners, now I'm thinking to replace boards to run only on of those two and send two "dead boards to warranty till I have their support.

873  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: September 18, 2016, 06:10:41 PM
I know this questions was asked millions and millions of times, but I need help with my farm.
The first one is about temperatures of course, on Bitmains official webpage I red that the chips shouldn't go above 115C, but I haven't found anywhere anything saying that some temperatures are normal some are fatal, can you please help me with this ?
first pic shows the miner on frequency 500 and the second on 600. What is the optimal temperature to mine on frequency 600 ?
I.

II.

And the last question is about one of my S9s. All three boards are working properly only on frequency 100 (I checked almost every frequency to 600). When I change freq to 100 and above miner status shows this:

If I can fix it myself that would be great, if not I have to send the faulty board back (if it is faulty) to Bitmain warranty.

can someone pleas etell me what temperature is normal for S9 to hash on ?
for PCB and CHIP of course
thanks
Nice pretty picture here of normal temps Tongue
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1615319.msg16231298#msg16231298

Temps good.
Chain-4 (board 3) is on its way out.... Nice "Real Time hashrate eh? Wonder what BMminer is looking at  'cause it sure aiina right Wink

thanks for showing me this. On freq 600 mines are running on 98-102 and I think this is bit high, I left them on freq 300 which gives avarage temperature 80-87. I need to work on cooling system for mining room I guess.

878  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 Hashing Board Issue on: September 12, 2016, 09:44:20 PM
I used to have same issue with one of my S9-s B13.
I tried to restarting, reconfigured it couple times, did a reset couple more times, but nothing was helping, I messed with frequencies as well but still nothing, only two boards were hashing. I didn't messed with firmware at all.
After a while ago the dead board showed itself and now it is hashing without any issues. I don't know what happened but as long as it is working I won't mess with it.

880  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: September 07, 2016, 05:13:42 PM
Hi all,

Recently I bought some of the S9 B12 miners. They seems to be pretty unstable and some of the miners require restarting and rebooting.

The other problem I have is that on few miners only 2 out of 3 boards are beeing deteted, one board is not shown in the stats at all. I'm using Bitmain PSU and I tried replacing the PSU as well as rebooting the miner and updating the software. Does anyone has any solution to this problem ?

Also on one S9 there're not boards detected at all and in the Hardware Version it shows: "   Socket connect failed: Connection refused"

Thank you for your help

you were officially owned by bitmain.
think twice next time buying crap with 3 month "warranty"

To be fair  problems did not show for most people until two months in.

So if you purchased from June 1 to Aug 1   you did not know this gear would break easier then the older s-1 s-3 s- 5 s-7 broke.

If you buy after Aug 1 you kind of asked for it.

I had 5 machines running fine from June to August and I purchased a sixth on on August 9th  since then a lot of problems.

recently I bought 7 s9. 5 of them are working fine, one of them is hashing is only on two boards caus I'm getting only 8THs and the other one is configured properly but it kind of restarting itself, the interesting thing is I have no time outs during pings when I can't log in into second one. And whats the max temperature of PCB and chips to run on ?
