8981  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No Shares When Mining on: November 15, 2012, 08:34:23 PM
GPU mining is better but I think that it's becoming obsolete now for profit taking at least, soon enough I suspect only people mining for fun will get anything out of Bitcoin mining because of the ASIC's that are supposed to be coming out but maybe that's for the best because then it will be used more as a currency.

If you're new don't mine bitcoins under the assumption you'll get a lot if you put enough computing power into it.
8982  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anime predicts the future of Bitcoin? on: November 15, 2012, 08:39:19 AM
Satoshi: <watching anime>
Satoshi: <pondering>
Satoshi: <serious voice> "I will build it."

Hahaha. I like that theory. It'd be funny if that's how Bitcoin was inspired.

If he was Japanese that could well be true being the nut cases that they are Tongue

Wonder if its true but only an idiot thinks they can hide behind a PC.

Oh it's entirely true, anyone can figure out who you are if they have hacking knowledge and a lot of time.
8984  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: PREDICT BIT COIN VALUE. on: November 14, 2012, 09:56:44 PM
I'm waiting for 47 days to see what will happen next with Obama's negotiations with the Republicans before I make any sort of prediction on the value of Bitcoin, my guess is that will make a dramatic difference in how fast and how much Bitcoin will rise because everyone will be running for the hills with their wealth.
8985  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: November 14, 2012, 04:57:46 PM
Finally! A normal looking store that doesn't immediately look like a scam or a ponzi scheme!

You should also give away a free pink shirt and a can of beer for joining.
8987  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello everybody :) new to this and have no clue what im doing on: November 14, 2012, 06:13:57 AM
I think IT is a spammer.
8988  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello everybody :) new to this and have no clue what im doing on: November 14, 2012, 05:53:12 AM
LOL! Oh well frankly I thought you were the scammer, there are a couple of places I know of like MTGOX and Dwolla? ( think that's what it's called ) what you'll want to do though if you don't want to use them is wait until the newbie status is revoked and post a request for Bitcoins in the marketplace.

If you look at the lending section we've had people posing as girls in the marketplace to try and scam bitcoins off people Tongue

They can collect 50 million signatures -- if they attempt to secede in any practical way, anyone doing anything to support that end goal will no doubt be slaughtered like pigs.

That is the unfortunate reality.  Never bring a signature to a gunfight.  :-)

People have fought for independence before, I think it is pretty naive to think it won't happen again just because of the era we're in, all that's needed is for one of the states to call themselves a republic and then the federal government will throw a fit.
8993  Economy / Economics / Re: What if gold is produced in lab? on: November 13, 2012, 02:03:04 PM
You know what this means don't you? Time to go out to space to find a new even rarer metal! Cheesy

OK so that headline isn't exactly accurate.

No shit, if Bitcoin users were so intelligent then why do I keep reading complaints about getting scammed?

Also, don't try and influence the way free market economics works, all the other currencies are doing that and look what's happening to them, just leave it alone and the market will grow.
8996  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Somebody in Washington is not happy on: November 13, 2012, 09:27:47 AM
More specifically, Sean R in Washington is not happy.

Honestly, I think it'd be best if the US split into two - those with liberal values can have one half, those with conservative values can have the other.  Strictly speaking economical values here.  But it'd be an awesome experiment at any rate.

The problem is whether you're talking about conservatism or 'neo-conservatism' as I'm sure Americans who actually look at politics will know the stupid and crazy evangelicals have hijacked much of the conservative movement.
8997  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much can we stand? on: November 13, 2012, 08:36:50 AM
Use your common sense! If someone is offering something that seems too good to be true then don't bloody go for it, it's the same with the usual currencies I don't know why idiots are so blindly thinking Bitcoin will be any different.
8998  Other / Off-topic / Re: John McAfee on: November 13, 2012, 07:39:24 AM
Really, dude, when is it that you gonna stop trying to link every alleged murderer with bitcoin when no such connection exists or was ever hinted?
What's your agenda?

He's a news journalist?
8999  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Somebody in Washington is not happy on: November 12, 2012, 08:48:47 PM
Rome will fall.

I seriously hope they manage this, I need to double check things but I'm pretty sure it's entirely within the power of states to do this.

Tongue I still have things to learn about that sort of thing, I did watch a very interesting video just recently, it has a lot of emotional argument as you'd expect but it did make an interesting point about the trauma that physical abuse from parents causes to children as well as actual damage to the brain?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NrVMGmsHmo

I'll have to look up more stuff about this, it was about the Judge William Andrews case where he beat his disabled daughter allegedly for filesharing.
