but,it'll be more interesting if it go back to $1 and do the whole thing all over again!   Grin

Not really, if it goes down to $1 we'd all have to turn our miners off, we are pretty close to that already at this price, wouldn't be good.

Ps. What's improving someone's trust? Can someone explain how this forum works?

Since this has not been answered yet.

#1 you click on someones name, which shows their profile
#2 at the bottom is trust, which opens the trust page [1]
#3 at the bottom of that page you can leave positive or negative feedback. Its intendet for trading, but I occasionally use it to remind myself that I dont want to deal with certain people here. There is a lengthy part about it in the unofficial faq [2] if you want to know more.

Thanks Shorena! Still learning my way round this forum Smiley x
903  Other / Off-topic / Re: Any musicians on here? on: September 19, 2014, 01:30:03 AM
Play the flute (used to be pretty good, now not so much from years of non-practice).
Also dabble in electronic music production, here are a few silly drum n bass remixes I made a few years back (before I knew much about mastering hahahaa):

Flash Gordon Theme (Dobbo's "Stick Your Hand in my Tramen you Blonde Motherfucker" remix
Diagnosis Murder DNB remix
Show Me Your Genitals (DNB Remix)

Cheesy Cheesy

not bad, cool remixes.
ps. flute? you didnt happen to play the 20th century fox intro flute fiasco on youtube, did u?
904  Other / Off-topic / What are your HOBBIES? on: September 18, 2014, 10:36:24 PM

..mentioning that you're female is always met with distrust and naturally considered as bait in a userbase where majority is male, hetero and got used to scammers.
btw stuff like r/girlsgonebitcoin and history of several supposedly female users in here manifested the golddigger prejudice even more.

I know the majority is male, but everyone needs to make an effort to let us participate, the first step being non alienating us when we join. We need to kill that golddigger prejudice ASAP, for good. Donations are fine, everyone's free to spend their btc anyway they please, and I'm not even against those guys going on girlsgonebitcoin getting naked pics in exchange for btc, boys will be boys (although a bit dumb to part with their hard earned btc when they can get naughty pics from pretty much every girl on tumblr for free. Guys, take note!).
I just want everyone to sort of understand that girls involved with btc doesn't necessarily mean they are beggers, scammers, or taking naked pics, some of us are nice girls who don't like being associated with that sort of behaviour.
908  Bitcoin / Mining support / DUST building up inside miners! on: September 18, 2014, 01:49:12 PM
Not sure if this has been asked before (I'm new on here, sorry). But my miners are gathering a lot of dust inside. Does it matter? Do you guys vacuum them, is it safe to do that? If you do, how often do you clean them?
Thanks!

I always finish emails/messages with x. It doesn't mean I'm sending a virtual snog, it's just a friendly thing I always do with everyone who's been friendly/nice. Most girls do this, if you communicated with girls you would know this! <BURRRN> Smiley lol jk. Even though most of you were mean to me, I'm not gonna be mean to you and call you geeky or antisocial or anything, I just want you to be welcoming to girls, that's all. I didn't even start this thread for that purpose, I wasn't like "I'm a girl, welcome me!!!". All I wanted was to know if there are other girls on here since I cannot find any girls interested in btc in real life and none of my girlfriends care. It's worrying because we need everyone on board for btc to go forward, not just guys. And if you guys make it impossible for us to even participate in a forum then I don't see how that's ever going to happen. Just remember, girls are better than guys at some things, I think you could really do with our input and help, it would be really good for btc, think about it.
910  Other / Off-topic / Re: Am I the only girl on here? : ( on: September 17, 2014, 11:32:45 PM
Unfortunately, this is way in most internet forums, and especially in BCT.  9 out of 10 (being generous here) posters that have female monikers usually are out to scam other posters, by preying on the weak and impulsive.

Nothing sexist at all in being safe and smart.

I don't know the stats -- I don't frequent the boards where most of these types of scammers hang out (only where the Trojan-peddling scammers hang out), so I'll take your word for it.

I am equally cautious, but there are certain criteria that immediately sets alarm bells off because they're commonly used by scammers. It's not about judging someone because they are female; it's about the same old tired tactics males use to try scam. Is it unfair that we scoff at Nigerian Princess & Nigerian lottery winners? Is it unfair and racist to state that they're likely not a Nigerian and are likely trying to pull a scam? No. Neither is it unfair to state my suspicions are aroused on this case because everything that is happening here is exactly what men who are pretending to be females say and state to make their point. I actually have more respect for women to think that they would behave this way, and it's the pathetic male scammers I am shaming here, not women.

That's a straw man. I'm arguing that calling a woman a scammer because she mentions she is one is not sufficient cause. You're arguing that individuals who obviously have no legitimate purposes on this forum (Nigerian princes) should be called out as scammers (about which we all agree).

The analogy is inaccurate. Exactly 0% of the world's population today qualify as Nigerian princes. Just under 50% of the world's population are female, and so such a claim (of "I'm a girl") made on the Internet should not be met with such exceptional scrutiny.

In my mind, it comes down to three things.

1. How sure should you be that someone is a scammer before accusing them (or loudly warning others)?

In other words, is it OK to accuse people if you're 90% sure (ChuckBuck's stats, not hilariousandco's) if that also means you end up falsely accusing the other 10%? Should it make a difference if the accusation also has the potential to alienate a lot of others?

2. What kind of evidence is acceptable to use? Simply being a female is clearly not acceptable evidence. Claiming to be a Nigerian prince clearly is acceptable. What about claiming openly to be a female (different from simply being one)? Is this acceptable to use that as evidence?

3. What are the wider implications?

I don't know or care if fabiola! is a scammer or not, but:

Regardless of the scam%, what does it say about our community if we state that it's not acceptable to claim openly you are a female here on these forums? (of course, nobody cares if you claim openly you are a male)

Is it important that we, as a community, attempt to be welcoming to the "other 50%", especially given the current imbalance?

What if, in our attempt to be welcoming, we ignore potential scams? What if people lose real funds because they fall for scams about which some of us could have warned them?

There are two sides to this. I don't think hilariousandco (or most of the other individuals in this thread, obvious trolls excluded) are sexist. But I do think the line is often drawn in the wrong place, in a place that that makes Bitcoin seem like a nerdy-guys-only club, and that will benefit nobody in the end.

btchris you're a legend, thanks so much. x

If I was a girl I Would post pics of myself naked for BTC, its that fucking easy if you have a good body.
Meanwhile as a man I have no fucking other ways to own BTC beyond risking my hard earned fiat money. T...thank you bitcoin.

Stop being an idiot, don't objectify women. Women are important both inside and outside the crypto communities. The success of the payment protocol and further adoption relies on it.

Exactly. Thank goodness there are some decent guys on here not just sexist idiots. This has restored my faith in the btc community a lil bit : )

most of the women I know are escorts who accept bitcoin  Cheesy

That's the main problem.

This is how it is
Guys interested in btc = early adopters, technology driven guys, etc.
Girls interested in btc = escort kind of girl who see btc as a new way to get sent free ££££ for naked activities of some sort

How can we turn it around so girls interested in btc equals girls interested in btc? (Just like it is for guys)

@hilariousandco
Wow It seems scammers are really good nowadays and I can see that you guys are tired of them. And yes, I've seen a few girls on fiver who are selling signs etc, pretty awful.
Yes, Fabiola is my real name, if I was a scammer I would have chosen something more popular or girly or sexy sounding or whatever, no?

-snip-
This is not a trade, this is not a loan request, its just a questions in "beginners and help".
-snip-

Not that it would be smart or even normal behaviour to demand a picture of the person selling a good or requesting a loan. Anyway I think this thread perfectly answers the question by OP.

Shorena, I second everything you said, you're absolutely right.

i m not agree that there are no girls in bitcoin community
but they don't like talk about gender, they are busy talking about bitcoin

I've been busy talking (and mainly reading) about btc on here and it's a great forum.
However, I need to defend myself if someone accuses me of being a scammer out of the blue just cause I'm a girl.
919  Other / Off-topic / Re: Am I the only girl on here? : ( on: September 17, 2014, 01:54:03 PM
Fair enough, I get it, I'm reading the "I'm in love" thread right now.

Ps. Who the hell is King Vod and how do I get him to verify me as legit?

You can click a pic of yourself with your username and some message on a piece of paper. You may or may not reveal your entire face but show off something so that it looks legit and members can trust you. This is just a suggestion.

And yeah my friends (boys cause I am a male) also listen to the whole BTC thing and act as if they understand everything but at the end it always turns out that they didn't even listen to even 1/4th of the lecture.  Wink Wink Wink Wink

I'm not gonna take advice from a newbie who joined 10 seconds ago and has 1 post. If a senior member asks me for a pic, I may do it, however, if those are the rules, I want every guy on here to take a pic to prove who they are as well, fair is fair.
920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin’s future depends on public acceptance on: September 17, 2014, 01:46:15 PM
It needs more time.

It will widely get accepted soon.

I hope it does.
But I think until it goes up significantly, people will still disregard it as a potential flop or whatever. Non-early adopters and wet blankets everywhere, sadly.
