I backed up my wallet...thank goodness...and now need to restore. Anyone know the steps to do that? I am on a Mac. Not sure how to apply this backup .dat file. Using version 3.0 obviously.

If it were me I wouldn't do anything just yet until we hear from the developer on this issue and it's repair. I've had thousands and thousands of HOdl coins disappear today I mean literally vanish from the wallet and I also had a good sized HOdl coin transfer fail and those coins vanished also. Past that I've had a quantity of freshly mined coins never appear in the wallet as in the immature section or transaction section.

With all that being said, all of your coins should literally be stored in the blockchain and so my hope is that once this issue gets sorted out everyone's HOdl coins will appear/reappear as if nothing ever happened....

I'm pretty confident the issue is being worked on and will be resolved fairly soon Smiley

This morning I did a Hodl transfer of 650 coins from one wallet to another wallet and the transaction processed although a bit slowly. I then did a second transfer for 900 coins from a different wallet but I reused the same sending address and something went terribly wrong. On the sending wallet it shows the transaction completely verified and finished but the problem is the receiving wallet does not show the transaction at all. It's as if the coins have vanished into thin air since they are now gone from the sending wallet and yet nonexistent on the receiving wallet.

Any suggestions on this and I'm guessing this is related to the issues I saw being reported here in the forum this morning...

I have an SSD that is low on space and I don't have room in AppData/Roaming for the block chain.

Can anyone explain how I can store the IncaKoin block chain in a different hard drive and directory where I have more room?
use datadir parameter.

@elbandi thanks for the response could you tell me where that parameter goes? I tried it in a conf file with no luck and tried it in the console with no luck and also tried adding it to the exe line on the shortcut icon so I must be doing something wrong...

@DisasterFaster  Thank you!  I had read a little bit about that earlier in the thread but i thought I needed to find the conf file first, didnt know I could just tell the program what to do by creating one.  Grin

You're welcome and good luck with your HOdl mining!

Also, just in case you missed it our current working exchange is located at https://www.coinexchange.io/market/HODL/BTC and the current block explorer is at http://www.fuzzbawls.pw/explore/HOdlcoin/network.php

Hello All,  I am interested in mining this coin, however, I am having a few issues.  First, how do I modify the wallet miner to use a lower number of cores.  I don't know anyone ... or any computer ... who is cool with running all eight cores 24/7.  Since I also GPU and HDD mine on this machine, I need a core or two free.  I searched the hodlcoin folder under appdata and everywhere else I could think of and can not find a configuration file for the miner.  I'm a novice at code but I know how to create a batch file if someone could help me understand what I'm doing. I did manage to mine a block before it went down so that was nice Cheesy  but I was hoping to wake up to more  Huh

Second, at first, I tried to mine with a pool, signed up at suprnova.cc and the miner was running perfectly... after an hour I still did not see any stats on the website and it did not show my worker as active.  I verified the username.worker and psw were identical... still nothing showed up.  Is the website accurate?  I also tried to mine at http://hodl.optiminer.pl/ but never could get their miner to work, kept saying no response from host.  Were they possibly down yesterday or am I just doing all of this wrong?

Like I said, I'm interested, but need a little help.

Thanks!

@Cannabisdreams have you tried making a configuration file?

If not give that a shot okay...

  • in the main HOdl directory add a file and name it hodl.conf
  • add this command genproclimit=8
  • change that number 8 to the number of cores you choose to run

Now when you load HOdl it should read that configuration file and use the amount of cores you tell it to.

Also you can reduce HOdl's memory usage if need be by adding this other command line to the .conf file...

minermemory=1

Finally after you boot the miner and get it running you can click on the Help Tab and then Debug Window and then Console and then type the command getmininginfo and it will then give you the genproclimit so you can verify your command worked.

Hi all, I'm new here.

Today I bought some HOdlcoin on Yobit but I can't withdraw it to my wallet. Damn it !!!
The price of this coin may be very low right now but it seems less dangerous than ECR where the top 10 addresses own half the total supply. I hope HOdl survives til the end of the bonus period. Then things will be interesting to watch

cheers

Grungie yobit has not been able to allow HOdl withdraws for a while now and I recommend you take a look at https://www.coinexchange.io/market/HODL/BTC as an alternative option Smiley

My SSD is low on space and I need to store the XDN data directory and block chain on another drive with more space.

The default location is AppData/Roaming/ and if anyone could explain to me how to change that location I would appreciate it.

how about the android wallet? no need to download all the data.

@expresso I was hoping to run a node to help support the network Smiley

This coin jumped on my radar and I am going to buy some and sit on it and see what it does. So as you can imagine my step one was to go ahead and download the wallet aka Riecoin Core version v0.10.2.0-gf192dab-beta (64-bit). Just out of curiosity I thought I would fire it up to mine...

I simply opened the console and changed setgenerate to true and then checked things with getmining info and for sure it's mining up a storm.

I haven't mined a block yet and not sure if I will who knows but I would ask the forum members is there anything else I need to do besides change the setgenerate to true?

Thanks for the advice!

I joined a pool, http://ublock.it
and i made 34.2 RIC in 4 days.

@MadHacker I'm not into pool mining I really prefer solo mining but with that being said thanks for your input and if you mined 34.2 RIC in 4 days that is interesting and I'm curious could you share with me your hardware specs? Are you cpu mining and what processor are you using?

Thanks a bunch!

You won't find a block using the wallet miner.  (Or, if you do, you're the luckiest person ever. :-)

Download the real miner instead.  It's something on the order of ten thousand times faster than the default one in the wallet.

@dga thanks for the tip I appreciate it! This is why I ask the experts for advice. So yeah I determined my hash vs. the total network hash rate and did some quick calculation and figured I could mine a few blocks a day but I bet you're right and I can't mine a drop!

Now, I don't care so much for pool mining I really like solo mining and on that note could you be so kind as to let me know the name of this miner you recommend and even better a link to it so I can download it and check it out...

Thanks for your advice I appreciate it!

the price is still down as compared to last year. we need some ideas to attract more people to hodl..like the pizza thing.

I think it would be more effective to do a marketing video on the subject of how to invest in Hodl and why you should invest in HOdl. That video then needs to include links that walk people through the steps of installing the wallet, buying, transferring and locking this coin, etc.

Wow the network hash rate shows 141.24 K/hs on the block explorer!

I see that about 25% of the network is still on version 2.0 so my question is are the coins they mine valid?

I've got a pc mining on version 2.0 and I was surprised to see that it continued to mine after the fork at block 257000.

Also, looking at the block explorer it says roughly 25% of the network is on version 2.

I had thought the v2 miners would be shut out after the fork am I missing something here?

hello could you tell me if yobit deposits/withdrawal works or coinexchange is the only marketplace for hodl?

For weeks now I haven't been able to withdraw HOdl at Yobit but you can deposit and buy it as far as I know. There has been talk on this forum of HOdl being de-listed at Yobit.

At Coinexchange I have bought and withdrawn HOdl and so far I never had a problem. Right now CoinEX would be my best recommendation.

My wallet fully sync less then a hour, without any bootstraps.

mine took 2 hours. The  wallet syncs but it very slow with only 2 connections so i looked for live hodl nodes and add them to my conf file. then restart my wallet.

is this coin even listed on a exchange?

Yes it is you can check it out by visiting https://www.coinexchange.io/market/HODL/BTC

...
Try running in Win 7 compatibility mode. A lot of mining software fails in Win 10.
I have had no issues with the 64 bit wallet on Win10. I have successfully found several blocks over the last few days using the wallet miner. Is it possible that there is a specific piece of hardware that is causing this issue when using Win10?
It seems that i am missing a lot of stuff here. I can see that there is wallet version 3.0 released. Can somebody explain difference ? Do i have to upgrade to v3.0 and blockchain redownload? Thanks

Hello I have version 2 and lots of coins in 1 year deposit. Must I upgrade to V3? I am not an expert so I appreciate a response. I do not want to lose my HODL coins. Thanks - Do I delete old and then install new wallet or just install new wallet. Can someone give me instructions please.

Just like you I was running the Version 2.0 wallet and had some coins in there that had been auto-locked. All I did was install the Version 3.0 and everything went smooth and all my coins were listed just fine after the install. I didn't uninstall Version 2.0 but I did make a fresh backup before installing 3.0. As far as I know numerous people have updated from 2.0 to 3.0 and I have not heard one instance of anyone losing coins.

Thanks for responding - so I just install v3 and then replace the wallet.dat file and open? Is that correct

When I upgraded to V3 I didn't have to replace the wallet.dat file. Bear in mind I did not change the installation directory or location of the HOdl software.
