Don't you think that using Bitcoin is much smarter than using fiat currency?

whatever model we choose - I suggest we try to run it on top of NXT via AM; this architecture is BCNext's actual goal for NXT. CfB has stated he would consult for free for someone attempting this
I guess I need some more info about this AM thing. What is the practical use of this?  Huh
Can someone please explain this to a newbie Wink
I have little knowledge of these extra features of NXT...

It would be nice having a type field in AM and standardize some kind of messages:
0 - cleartext
1 - encrypted with algorithm xxx
2 - encrypted with algorithm yyy
...
Special purpose 1
Special purpose 2
...

We should keep as much flexibility as possible in early stage

The first chunk of work will be around building all the classes that comprise the blockchain.
- I'm planning to change the signing algorithm from NXT's non-standard curve25519 based implementation to ed25519 (https://github.com/geir54/ed25519-java/blob/master/ed25519.java).
- I will also change the account numbers to be more bitcoin-like

This is a good start. Few more ideas:

Provide a meaningful white paper with algorithms description.

Avoid collisions in addresses (a la NXT)

Allow optional message encryption so that only receiver can read it.

Hidden alias addresses for mixing/privacy/identifing customer...

Reserved aliases: only owner of address xxx can register an alias straarting with "xxx_". This allow sharing of any piece of information I desire.

What are you guys gonna do about it? I'll tell you what, nothing.

Come on down to Wichita and let's see what you got. My wife is a lawyer and she said I've done nothing wrong, so it looks like I get to keep the neptune. Thanks for the funding Wink

You misspelled company name... I guess you are a fake

975  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NXT setup problem on: January 24, 2014, 05:30:17 AM
-I noticed when I start the NXT client (java -jar start.jar) I get a warning (WARNING: System properties and/or JVM args set.  Consider using --dry-run or --exec) but more annoyingly, it end with 'NRS 0.5.9 started successfully.' and 'freezes' the terminal.(no more user@HOST:~)
Edit: I found out when copying the warning: ctrl-c brings back the 'user@HOST:~', but also stops the client...

To start NRS use:

nohup java -jar /path/to/start.jar &

You can place this command in /etc/rc.local to make it start automagically at boot

979  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Nxt] Instant transactions with guaranteed confirmation on: January 17, 2014, 10:26:09 AM
Instant means not waiting at all.

Instant transactions will be implemented after the Messaging feature.  That is how it will work:
1]  You publish on the blockchain a message saying that your account becomes a special account.
2]  You use the account for instant transactions.
3]  At some point you decide to empty the account, so you publish a message saying that the account becomes an ordinary one.
4]  Now you can't use instant transactions and have to wait for 1440 blocks (~24 hours) to withdraw all the coins.

You can send 1/10th of the balance a zillion times, but all the transactions except one of them won't be included into a block.  The odds that a peer will see only 1 transaction are negligibly small, if a merchant notices other transactions that exceed the daily limit they will not sell you anything.

I guess point 1 takes the same propagation time than a normal transaction.
So this is not what I'm looking for if I'm in a hurry. Correct?

Still have the signature after 30 day

have you gotten paid before? cause I`m getting confused on others have.

Yes, they are paying.
But they are not so quick as before.

You can verify yourself transactions done five days ago to the addresses of people who posted before payments.
