Lessons learned from Lisk:

- Have clusters for the web wallet. Assume it will be attacked.
- Have a windows wallet ready.
- Have a docker image available with directions that work.
- Have great DDoS protection

What measures are you taking to have smooth launch? Sold half my Lisk, ready for Waves.

Wallet hosted on a centralized server is like asking to be attacked.

While keeping you busy with ddos they try to open a breach.  Once they are inside they inject malware and try to steal private keys, passwords, whatever.

We will know in few days if they succeeded...

Ok someone help a newbie out.

How in the hell can this guy Roach and Spoetnik hurt a coin?

Fear? How do you scare a coin?

Enlighten me, I find this subject interesting.

~BCX~

I think you didn't understand what op was  saying.

He wants to create an index of how much r0ach & spoetnik are scared by a coin, not the opposite
523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Spoetnik and Roach are Bitcoin maximalists and you can use this info to... on: May 25, 2016, 02:30:54 AM
Spoetnik and Roach are Bitcoin maximalists and you can use this info to....determine how threatened they feel by any altcoin. If they praise or ignore the coin, then it is no threat. If they attack the coin, they feel threatened by it--you can see their level of fear raise or lower by the coin's popularity in threads or the growth of marketcap. While I feel that roach's attacks are more technically sound, they do move towards emotional appeals as the threat level increases. Spoetnik's attacks are usually of a prodding/provoking nature and are generally of a low quality to noise ratio--classic trolling.

If anyone could create a spoetnik/roach fear index based on the correlation of their positive, negative and combined post output, I'd be interested. Seems they put most of their effort into ETH and XMR currently.

Let's punish them by creating a super scammy ico coin named r0ach&spoetnik that will never deliver anything  Cheesy

Any proof of your affiliation with TPTB?

They better drop off the radar for a while, get rid of the phone (it's bugged) and avoid any possibilities of this shady dude finding them.  If they're dumb enough to take this trip, then the rest is on their hands.

Why not hire a private investigator?

I've bought few coins lately and wanted to know how soon can a coin be pumped just after the ICO? because it seem like its going to be tied for several weeks.

there's no rules.
anything may happen
534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: May 13, 2016, 02:28:09 AM
And defending the ico price with buywalls is unreasonable anyway. Let the price move. Better put the money into developement

There is a whale who owns 10% of all the waves: https://wavesplatform.com/contract_stat
He can make laugh of any buy wall
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: May 12, 2016, 06:39:55 AM
there was a rumor that developers gonna place a buying wall at the very start of trading waves. How big'll be this wall? And how long will it exist (one day? one week? month?) If they will see that there is not enough buying power, will they dismiss it?

Was the rumour by any chance started by you?  Stop spreading bullshit.  If you have don't have the balls to buy into the ICO don't buy it.  Otherwise grow up and don't expect the world to catch you if you screw up.

Actually, I've spent nearly 31 btc and now got ~ 300k waves, so I'm not sure what are you talking about balls etc. You better to check Russian thread where Sasha35625 is saying that there will be a buying wall.

here is the quote:

Подождите, а разве не обещали часть собранных миллионов потратить на могучую бай стену? По цене не меньше предпродажной?

Где была такая инфа?
будет стена, да.

Translation:

-wait a second wasn't there a mighty buying wall? with the price not less than the ico price?
- Where the information was submitted?
- sasha: The wall will be placed, yes

This is not good news for people hoping to buy some cheap coins after launch

I thought about it hard, after watching youtube video of The Flash TV show, I thought our race wont survive to see Time traveling tech because if that was so, then someone from the future would had visited us already.

You obviously never watched Doctor Who
537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So what's the deal with smart contracts? on: May 11, 2016, 08:44:58 PM
Everyone talks about what can be done with Ethereum et al and the power of decentralized application technology. What I insist not understanding is what makes those applications superior to their centralized counterparts.

I don't claim that Dapps are not important. I just want to learn what's deal with them.

Transparency

I can make my centralized app do obscure things, I can modify it at any time without telling you.

Dapps don't need trust instead.
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: May 10, 2016, 08:17:15 PM
Not sure why people keep saying the more btc that gets dumped into waves, the higher the price of each wave will be.  Yes, that is maybe true but if you guys really think each wave is worth $1 minimum, wouldn't having more waves be better?  The higher the price of each wave is when launched, the harder it is to make a nice profit on it.  It is much easier for the price of a coin to double or triple from 1 cent than from 1 dollar.  Anyways, that's my opinion and there's really nothing anyone can do about people investing in waves.  It is what it is.  Good luck all.

More BTC = More Hype = More people buying = More FOMO = More Demand = higher potential price per Wave

The downside is your staking power going down

in Cthulhu we trust

in God we trust but has God any trust on us?

There is a lot of excitement these days about ICOs, and with the big run up in Etherum prices this year, lots of people are flush and are looking  for the next big thing to invest in. http://cryptohustle.com/are-the-crypto-markets-in-an-ico-bubble With all of this money going into ICOs, people are expecting a big return and are waiting to sell when the price rises. With this long ICO period, some people will want to sell their waves on the first day of trading, and if the price starts to sink,  investors are going to sell. It could be snowball effect out the gate. That doesn't necessarily predict the long term price of waves, but I've seen lots of coins sell hard on the first day of trading. Waves has an ICO lasting 6 weeks. That means lots of speculators have plenty of time to get in. The more people are involved in waves ICO speculation, the more likely someone is going to sell as soon as they can, and that could lead to cascade of falling prices.

I'm not saying it's going to happen. I think a lot will depend on BTC prices and the health of alt coin markets on the day that waves start trading. But definitely with this looooong ICO there is a risk of price plummet.

I would be happy to buy more waves at a lower price.

I'm in for the medium/long period
