1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Foundry a threat to decentralization? on: Today at 04:10:02 AM
Unless they've got what it takes to keep their miners with them even at a really critical rate then @DaveF is right, it will happen again and then they're going to get sued, another pool will pop up to gather them and then things will go back to where it was, if this fear that you've got with Foundry is going to be real, I hope that the price of bitcoin goes down to a really low level because I want to buy as much bitcoin with my stock fiat here.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts about the person renting an apartment with Bitcoin in Argentina on: Today at 03:34:52 AM
Pretty neat if you ask me but the concern is that they can be targeted by malicious elements given that thieves and burglars at the least have a knowledge about bitcoin and that they might assume that those people investing in them probably have a lot of money in them to be able to get that, there's also the matter of privacy, if you pay your rent with bitcoin, wouldn't you be exposing your identity to your landlord? Including your wallet address, hopefully this is just a concern that won't really happen at all but it's still worth talking over.

Besides my concerns, I think that bitcoin payment for your rent in Argentina might be a big help given that the inflation in the country is constantly growing every single day, you're better off hedging yourself against inflation rather than keep your money that would only serve to go down in value the next day, this is a good step in the right direction in my opinion.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much of my salary should I use to gamble on: May 28, 2024, 01:35:53 PM
If you can do it, don't use any of that to gamble, most cases that you can do this is if you've got a side hustle where you can easily supplement your gambling habits since you've got an extra income. If you're not that person that I'm talking about, you probably shouldn't portion your salary to satisfy your gambling needs, most of the time, you're going to end up with nothing and that money that you will allocate will definitely be not enough for the gambling session. If you're the kind of person that's got a salary that's on the 5 or 6 digit territory already, you're probably good with a 10% of that being used for gambling if you really can't help it.

The thing is that most gamblers would be better off if they simply saved (or even better, invested) their side hustle income instead of using that extra money for gambling.

But I guess the thing that is different is that they are buying some kind of "hope" to become rich, which won't happen if they simply save or invest the money.

Ironically, over time, they might get wealthier if they don't gamble.
That's the dream but you're talking about people that wants to gamble here which means that the only thing that you can do in that situation is to give what they want you to say which just so happens to be the budgeting in their gambling habit, in that kind of situation, you'd probably be better off just telling them what they want to hear since there's no way that they'd listen to you anyway. I guess you could say that, they're hoping that their bet could be the one that would change their life forever but the math is there to tell them that that's not how things work.
4  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Ethereum $25 million Theft: Two Brothers arrested on: May 28, 2024, 11:53:27 AM
Does anyone have a video essay that would explain how they were able to do it, I'm learning a lot of cybersecurity stuff recently and in my work so I'm trying to expand on things that's out there, I think that having an idea of how they do it can help me along the way. Doing it in 12 seconds is a really crazy thing, that would probably took them a lot of preparation to be able to pull this off.
5  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How Oklahoma state authorities are protecting crypto investors on: May 28, 2024, 06:18:37 AM
If Oklahoma improves upon this bill, I can assure you that they're going to be the Mecca for bitcoin investors and miners because that clause about legalization of mining in your home is going to work wonders, the only problem would probably be the neighbors that might complain about your mining farm if it gets too big. Hopefully more state would follow this footstep, who knows what benefits they might get out of protecting bitcoin and cryptocurrency investors and miners alike.

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $1,200 stimulus check in 2020 = $12,392 in 2024 on: May 28, 2024, 04:29:46 AM
Imagine if that was the thing in my country too, people would be celebrating, I guess some people just don't really trust the process with bitcoin investing. I can understand why some people don't even do it too, I mean there are people out there that would have more use of that stimulus check at that moment rather than using it for investment. I hope that this will also be another reminder of the fact that bitcoin is going to be going up and never going down, any doubts will always led you to regret in the long-term.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTCPay Documentary: My Trust In You is Broken on: May 27, 2024, 04:12:43 PM
BTCPay Server is an awesome sovereignty tool, I use it to run my own coinjoin coordinator. I watched the movie, the backstory behind Nicolas' vindictive application of his talents is inspiring.
Right? I mean, Nicolas is the biggest hater of BitPay because there's no way that someone of this caliber would be fixated, he really doesn't like the idea that there's a better way but no one's doing it, I guess in some way, spite and hate is a good motivator, just don't go overboard or something like that I guess.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Every possible wrong crypto advices on: May 27, 2024, 03:32:34 PM
1. You can probably hodl until the next bull run, you don't have enough bitcoin to sell during the current bull run so make sure that you should take the greedy route.

2. Jump right into trading, don't learn the basics because "experience" is the best teacher, don't do demo trades because it's a waste of your time.

3. Never question any advice that's given to you by people that have been in cryptocurrency game longer than you.

4. A crypto project that's got a good standing in the community is probably not a likely cause for worry that they might scam people and pull the rug under the people that trusted them.

5. The haters of bitcoin is wrong, all of them don't make a valid point, bitcoin when used as a tool is a never do wrong.
10  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you prefer getting a loan for a startup or getting an investor? on: May 27, 2024, 02:57:20 PM
The issue with having an investor is that they will definitely try and meddle with your business decisions, that's why you don't see a lot of small entrepreneurs trying to get in with the investor way of growing their business because that's one of the causes and if the investors try to pull out their share, they might cause damage to your business. I guess it's a matter of which business are you, a big business or a small one because one can benefit a business if they're properly in the right place.

If you've got a good business and you know that a growth is what you'll need, I think that you'd benefit a lot with loans because that's basically making sure that you're doubling your profits as quick as possible.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: First they ignore you: Are we (the Bitcoin/crypto users) about to win? on: May 27, 2024, 02:12:49 PM
That's almost the trend for revolutionary stuff, the concept, idea, theory, and the method is so radical to the norm that it's almost always that the majority of the population will have a hard time believing that something so novel or new will change the world and so they just always go with the safe side that it will pass and that it's just not going to last for a really long time but then they're all proven wrong and so they end up having to get into it a bit too late.

Isn't that always the case with most disaster movie tropes, they ignore the scientists because they can't believe that something like that can happen and then it happens. It's the same thing with bitcoin, people think that it's a scam and that it's really stupid that an Internet money has a value, they can't open their mind to comprehend that bitcoin is here to stay and being a hater will just make you the loser at the end of the day.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Double your money and quite on: May 27, 2024, 01:26:13 PM
Casino will not lets you wins many times and will trying to beat you. We knows that is easy for the casino doing that, especially we are in their place and they runs their business.
Even if we wins and not stops ourselves from gambling, they will gets our money and beat us until we don't have money. We will lose all of our money without a chance to double our money from gambling.
They don't have to try and beat you, gambling is always leaning towards the house and most of the games in there have an odds that's always stacked against the player so I'm sure that there's no need for them to try so hard, the only thing that the casino owners have to do is to just watch out for cheaters and players that are playing in games that don't have a really good house edge for them and those players are winning. It's no secret that they're going to end up like that, the more you try to chase losses and the more you try to hope that you will eventually win big, then the more unlikely that you're going to win it and your losses would go even more.
We must realizes about that and only use gambling occasionally to have fun. When we realizes that we can not double our money in gambling, we must trying to playing gambling moderately to prevents the big lose.
I don't think that realization should happen during the gambling sessions, that should've happened the moment before and you should know about it before you're even playing, playing moderately should've been the thing for someone before they gamble.

14  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Heisenberg63 is lyer/scammer on: May 26, 2024, 11:34:11 AM
This just makes the Internet strangers less trustworthy than they already are, it's a sad thing that people are still doing this kind of stuff where they try to make you let your guard down and then suddenly pull down from under the rug the trust that you've given to them, it's such a sad thing that this is happening, hopefully OP finds the will to pursue legal action or do an investigation regarding this matter, I'm sure that it's not a bad idea to do it, at the least keep this scammer on his toes, make this person pay his sins with paranoia and anxiety, I'm sure that he will love that kind of thing and that's the best that you can do in this situation until he gives up and brings you back the money.
15  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Does a newbie warning flag about this need a lot of explanation? on: May 26, 2024, 10:46:37 AM
It's a too good to be true scam service, why would you doubt yourself about that kind of problem, in this situation, it's okay to doubt at first and then have the issue of taking back the flag later, I mean it's smells fishy already so why can't we just trust our guts that it's definitely a scam, because sometimes, gut feeling is right. Regarding the explanation, people aren't stupid, you can just put in the reference and then in the remarks, just say that this person is promoting a scam, don't trust them, concise and direct to the point sometimes is enough to deliver what you're trying to say.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling bad to the society? on: May 26, 2024, 09:51:50 AM
Well, a lot of things could happen if society encounters gambling at an early age then it could seep into the parts of relationships, health, social interactions, and just pure mayhem just because of the addictions. We all know that it's addictive and could lead to deceit like what the other people have said.

As members of society, we all know the overall effects but it's up to the person whether he will have control.
Which means that it's not the gambling that's causing something bad to a person but rather it's the society where that person grew up in that is at fault, if that's the implied meaning here then I do agree because if you grew up in a society that values money even more than the individual then it's bound to happen that people would resort to something that would care about them even if it's fake and temporary and something that will promise them a light at the end of the tunnel, people will go to that thing and use it, that's why addiction is still a prevalent things, it's never going to be different if we continue to conform and follow what the society that we're living in tries to shape us into.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If we lose in gambling, what do we need to do? on: May 26, 2024, 09:14:53 AM
This thread needs to be closed, I don't even know if there's anything that's not yet discussed that's in this thread, pretty sure that what you can do when you're losing in gambling is not a lot of things, it will complicate your life and at the same time, you might not even arrived at a conclusion. Here's a simple thing that you can do when you're losing in gambling, stop worrying about it and move on, do the logical thing which is quitting while you still have some funds that you can spend on other things and while you still have some self-respect in you.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your gambling life could affect your relatives lifes. on: May 26, 2024, 08:32:30 AM
Gambling has negative effects by age especially for those below 18 years the negative effects of gambling will be more because gambling can seriously affect their career development. But for those who are old and living a lonely life, life can be one of the main sources of entertainment because gambling can be a pastime to pass the time in their lonely life. But the guardians of the family in which the father and son live together should basically refrain from gambling because the younger sons and daughters of that family may develop a kind of gambling interest in the children after seeing the participation of the guardians in this gambling, and those younger sons and daughters will also become one of them later.
There's no especially, everyone gets the same effect, we're just biased with the amplification because we think that age has anything to do with the intensity when there's really no difference, addiction hits everyone the same, the difference starts when they're affecting people that's beside their closest relatives and friend. Definitely a good thing to always teach by example, that's basically how you will make sure that you're not going to make things worse for you and your children because when they see that you're not gambling, that would also mean that you're not gambling thus lowering the chances of you getting addicted.
19  Other / Politics & Society / Re: All in my head.. on: May 26, 2024, 07:21:40 AM
You're not wrong, if they hate crypto enough, they will want it gone but the real problem that's plaguing those cryptocurrency haters is that even with all those influence and power at their disposal, they're still going to need to make sure that there's deniability available to them and that no one would be able to stick things to them because they don't want the backlash that will definitely be coming when they start their war with cryptocurrency, they don't know the implications yet and they dread that feeling.

The wonderful thing is that if there was something to happen in crypto that impacts it negatively including the community, they're going to be the first in the list of suspects especially if they suddenly are benefiting from it, there's no way that they can't be involved.
