2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Avast quarantined Bitcoin-QT.exe 0.13.0 binary on: August 25, 2016, 02:42:26 AM
I just upgraded to Bitcoin-QT 0.13.0 on Windows 7 64 bit.
Before anyone asks, yes I verified the download signature against the SHA256SUMS.asc file, whose signature correctly matched that of Wladimir J. van der Laan's PGP key (that I downloaded long ago, before the recent threat announcement).

When I tried to run it for the first time, Avast did a deep scan and quarantined the binary.
Is anyone else having this issue or found a solution?
Could a file that passed signature verification still have an infection?!

You're running into an issue with whitespace and HTML.

Try again http://pastebin.com/raw/PWcYtqi3
3  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Univalue on: May 20, 2016, 04:35:57 AM
Is univalue compatible with json?
I have been trying to use a miner for solo on the new version of bitcoin with no success.
Univalue should be _strictly_ compatible: strictly producing and strictly enforcing.

Many things that produce JSON produce incorrect encodings, and many things that consume JSON will accept incorrect encodings. That may be the case here, or there could be a bug in univalue.  Without seeing your software, its hard to say.

I was using the standard software that comes with a 1Th dragon miner. afterwards I tried with both cpuminer and an older version of cgminer. nothing worked.

If you have time, please try any of the above and tell me the results.

Which versions of cgminer did you try?

What was the command line provided for them? (censor private info out of course)

Anyone know if the trustee filed a claim?

The Sixth report (which all creditors should have gotten) says they did.

(I'm posting about the invoice jars in this thread because it's the only thread on bitcointalk that mentions it)

It's not just cloudhashing.com, it seems as though somebody got into the mailing servers (or at least spoofed them, but it looks legit) of various large/largish bitcoin websites, i got one from btc-e.

I got an email from both btc-e.com and cloudhashing.com with this invoice_772.jar

Actually, cloudhashing.com was invoice_773.jar

The "From" header in an email is not authenticated in anyway.

These emails are being sent from compromised servers through the smtp.com email service.

Please forward the phishing email to abuse@smtp.com

The .jar file contains a packed (ie disguised) trojan.

Whoever is doing this is rapidly modifying their technique and constantly changing the packing format.

It takes about 2 weeks for major AV products to update their signatures each time the attacker updates it, which unfortunately makes them basically useless.

tl;dr dont execute email attachments ending in .jar antivirus cant help you with this one!
13  Economy / Securities / Re: Cloudhashing ASIC mining contracts, UK LTD company - Now Mining & Paying Bitcoin on: September 15, 2014, 02:12:51 AM

Unfortunately whoever is doing this is constantly updating the jar file.

The latest version of it isn't detected by any virus scanners.

(Indeed I would bet that they're using virustotal.com to verify their changes worked :/ )
14  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New Virus/Malware! on: September 15, 2014, 02:10:23 AM
Jar files should have been blocked and
One more... Smiley This bastards never stops.

Dear Users

we make program Google Authenticator security For Cloud Hashing .

you need to setup the program in computer then make Google Code

we attach Google Authenticator Program

Sincerely,

Cloud Hashing

google@cloudhashing.com

Google Authenticator.jar

I also got an email that appeared to be sent from Cloudhashing :

Quote
Subject: Invoice 764
Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2014 02:19:01 +1100
From: CloudHashing <no_reply@cloudhashing.com>

Invoice Payment Confirmation

Kind regards

Mobile: +1 (510) 973-1050
Phone: +1 (530) cloudhashing
Fax: +1 (510) 573-2760
Technology IQ Ltd. 11130 Jollyville Rd. Ste. 304 Austin TX 78759

The email contained a so-called invoice payment confirmation (Invoice_764.jar) as an attachment. I immediately deleted the email before my system getting infected

If you check the headers you'll find that the email was sent from smtp.com.

The email does NOT come from cloudhashing.

Please forward the email with a complaint to abuse@smtp.com

Is anyone else's Terraminer throttling often? At first I figured it was caused by the high temps but now that I have the temps down it still throttles.

What temp does it reach before it throttles? what's the performance before/after?

I'm running on ICdiamond for about 2 weeks and I haven't had any throttling so far.

Previously the MX4 was good for 3 weeks, so I'm not sure how long the ICdiamond lasts. (the MX4 degraded into "dust" after 3 weeks).

When it disables/throttles the core(s) the temps go down obviously so it might not be evident that it's caused by the degradation of the thermal compound.

If a pump fails then it also disables the cores ( I had one pump fail on me - it produces weird noise before failure)

Having said that, I'm interested in buying problematic Terraminers. Pm me with the stats if any of you consider selling them.

I am down to thinking that I may have a bad pump. Anyone know how to test that? Obviously something is telling the board not to start.

Bad pumps show as 0 RPM in the admin panel, iirc the boards will start with a pump failure.

Ofc, I am talking about the price rather than the coding error.

I hope that guy didn't lose his bitcoin in an old HDD. Tongue

He sold them for $4,000.00 immediately on mtgox.
18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra Terraminer Half Speed PSU/Board problem?? on: June 09, 2014, 09:31:57 PM
but the other board has the same layout, what makes you think that will make any difference?? I notices that if the power cables are not connected to the main board there is 12v going thru the wires but as soon as I plug the wires to the board there is a spark and the psu goes from all green to green and orange :S

It looks a bit closer to the orange component.
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra Hardware Support **Unofficial on: June 09, 2014, 08:42:13 PM
Thanks for creating this thread as I'm sure many owners (like me) have ongoing problems with these supposedly multifunctional paperweights.

It's been a few months since I've turned on this miner and in the beginning it worked fine hashing at 1.6TH with temps in the range of 75-85C (core).
My troubles started when CTA1 started to report inconsistent temperatures usually +15-20C above CTA0 while ambient temps have not been changed.

Shortly after this anomaly CTA1 started to throttle very often. I have cleaned the original thermal paste and reapplied a known quality brand.
This seemed to fix the issue for several weeks and CTA1 was within 5C range and I was a happy miner (my overall temps have gone down considerably too).

Next I encountered the "dead core" cointerra disease, as half of CTA1 disappeared. I was reflashing and restarting this diabolic device multiple times and disconnected/reconnected all the connectors inside to resolve this issue.

Couple of weeks after I'm again seeing CTA1 throttling very often meanwhile the reported hashrate is 1.3-1.5TH (temps in the 80-95C range).

I'm thinking about ordering quality thermal pads due to the unevenness of the chips surface and using a proper wc loop ("luckily" I have spare parts - will report back when it's done).

Do any of you found a permanent fix or tried something else with success?

What is the intake/exhaust temp?

Try replacing the metal washer in the center of the power board with a non-conductive washer.

It looks like it could be shorting.
