1  Economy / Reputation / Re: 🍕 Bitcoin Pizza Day on Bitcointalk on: May 30, 2024, 12:46:40 AM
I've seen some tasty looking pizas. Good job!

Edmund77 should get a ban for trying to cheat in a contest.
I don't know what's more pathetic - his photoshop skills or the fact he actually thought he could pull this off with these pictures.

2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The difference between gamblers and real Bitcoin investors? on: May 30, 2024, 12:35:42 AM
The way legends make money is not mainly from buying and reselling transactions, but from "waiting".

It's not even the waiting that's important but recognizing the true value of what you invest in. When you own something you know is cheap now you feel confident and can wait for a long time.

When you have a piece of land or a house that someone offers you x but you know it's worth 5x you're not going to sell and you won't be bothered by low offers. It's the same with bitcoin. Know the value and you will go far with that knowledge.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Runes are now worthless and have killed Ordinals too on: May 21, 2024, 09:16:30 PM
It's great that bitcoin is in a way purifying itself of all that useless stuff.

I can't say I'm unhappy because the fees went back to normal and all the people who were overpaying hundreds of dollars to put ordinals or runes into the blockchain lost. I appreciate the effort but you guys lost and bitcoin won.

Nobody is going to miss ordinals and runes but people who thought they'd do money from it, just like nobody cares that NFTs are worthless but people who still own them.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: I believe Bitcoin will surge to new heights after this dip on: May 21, 2024, 09:02:22 PM
Basically everyone thinks the same way, that is why it didn't drop all that much and right now trading around $70k levels after the dips.

Situations like that where everybody thinks alike are usually traps because that attitude pumps longs and it doesn't take much to start a liquidation cascade. When rich people see this it's an opportunity to liquidate overextended levered retards, which is why bitcoin has to increase slowly but surely. When you see a FOMO rally its time to get out or cold storage and get ready for the bear market.

I also think we'll get a new ATH this year, but it could go to $80000 or 85000 and end it there. Don't wait for it to hit a new high to buy because by that time it will be too late.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Samurai Wallet co-founder pleaded not guilty, released on $1m bond on: April 30, 2024, 10:00:37 PM
Nowadays you need a license to make software. Next thing you're going to need a license to trade with other people.
-hey man, I have a bike for sale
-wait, I want that, just give me a month I have to apply for a purchaser's license

Fucking clown world!
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MemoryDealers aka Roger Ver Arrested! on: April 30, 2024, 09:35:48 PM
We live in a clown world where you can be a citizen of another country and the US can get you arrested and extradited there. They can also imprison you for alleged crimes committed against its monetary policy which is another joke of a law.

Think about a scenario where you live in some remote country and one day local police arrests you and says you're going to the US because you did something that's forbidden there and they want to prosecute you. You don't even speak English and don't know US laws. This is how dumb this can get.

I'm not going to pity Roger because he did some shady shit in his life with that bch - sv fork and spamming bitcoin to show BCH is cheaper to transact with but he doesn't deserve prison.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Platforms Where You Get The Same Level Of Enjoyment Like You Do In Gambling on: November 27, 2023, 11:13:26 PM
I'd say video games are probably the next best thing.

They offer some degree of thrill and can pump you full of adrenaline. That's true especially for horror games and battle royale type of games like modern warfare where you feel alone on the battlefield with other players looking for you.
They allow you to relax if that's what you need.
You don't have to leave the house, so it's accessible 24/7.
When you find the game you like they allow you to immerse in the world and forget all your troubles.

The downside is they're also addictive, especially MMOs, so if you have trouble with gambling addiction it's possible you'll turn one into another.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Many Bets to Know How Good Enough You Are? on: November 27, 2023, 12:31:10 AM
Funny question because let's say I tell you that it's 100. Will you believe me? Will you feel confident in your skill when after 100 bets in dice or slots you are in profit? Will you tell everyone that you're a good player after that?

If I tell you that it's a million bets, will you play long enough to try it?

This thread cannot answer your question and even if it does, you probably won't do anything with that knowledge.

Please response with the TX ID once it is done. Again sorry for any inconvenience.

Hi Royse777,

I made the return days ago but due to mempool congestion, the transaction is still pending.
Code:
f64883539536f0715bc561cd5d445528227e319089c8afb1e4aa48405de6d5bd
Please let me know if I have to complete it with current mempool congestion. I much appreciate if you allow me to let it there for a while, when things are better, if needed, I will bump the fee.

I think that you've made a mistake in the transaction.
You were to return 0.00024118 and your transaction is for 0.00238039.
In other words you owed $8 and ended up returning $80

The fee is also below minimum, which means the tx is going to be stuck. The minimum for confirmation at the moment is 35sat/vB and you paid 15.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Winning big amount after watching streamer on: November 16, 2023, 08:59:08 PM
Good job! I guess some of the streamer's luck became your own.

I don't do such things but I understand how watching a streamer win can make you feel more confident and push you to try it out yourself. That's why all these companies that sell stuff have sponsored streamers and youtubers who make content for them starting with food producers sponsoring cooks, supplement makers sponsoring bodybuilders, shoe brands sponsoring soccer players and so on.
People think that by wearing a brand they'll look more professional and play better.

12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid trading crypto in real person. You can see this now on Binance. on: November 16, 2023, 08:51:24 PM
I've never been afraid of going out into the world and exchanging bitcoin. I do it in public and I've never had any problems.

Most of the time bitcoiners are really friendly. We exchange opinions about the market and joke around from funny situations, even talk about memes and tell bitcoin jokes.
I've never become real friends with any of these people because we're both cautious, but it was always a good experience.

If people were to target you as a bitcoiner, wouldn't they simply go to a bitcoin conference and follow people who attend?
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will it Hold? BTC Targets $40,000 on: November 15, 2023, 11:03:22 PM
I'm confident that we'll break above 40k this year, but short term action is anybody's game. It could go down again and then up, or simply get to 40 in one move by the end of this week. Nobody knows that.
What I know is it will happen eventually because the price action looks very strong and bullish.

That said, watch out for manipulation because analytics firms say we have the least coins on exchanges ever which means liquidity is at all time lows. We could expect small amounts of money to create giant waves on charts, so be safe, don't get liquidated and don't panic. It's only a matter of time before we get to ATH.
14  Economy / Economics / Re: "I saw my salary on a bottle of perfume today" on: November 15, 2023, 10:39:20 PM
He didn't even take it to the extremes. Think of something bigger like a minimum age worker vs a gold watch on some rich man's wrist that costs more than the worker makes in 10 years. Or about a single meal of a rich person that could buy a month of meals for a whole family. At least the perfume may last many months if not abused, which many people do.

I have a rich friend and he uses good perfume, but every thing of his smells like that. His whole car, his coat, phone. He once visited me and sat on my coach and the whole room smelled like him for 2 days straight Cheesy

I bring up this to talk about financial freedom. What is financial freedom to you? Is it about having a certain amount of money that is required to have financial freedom or to have an amount of money which can potentially give you freedom in the future?

For me financial freedom is having enough money to be able to afford a normal life, nothing fancy, for many years straight, even if I get sick, or be unable to work.
In other words financial freedom is financial safety.

If I need 1000 dollars a month to live, financial freedom would mean that multiplied by 20 years, located in a safe investment like bitcoin.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some rich person not interest about bitcoin for following reason on: November 15, 2023, 10:25:45 PM
Example: Cz. Craig wright & Michel Sailor etc.
The fact that your "friend" thinks a scammer like Wright has a lot of bitcoin shows how little he understands of the Bitcoin world. They are probably better off not having any bitcoins at all. Wink Such people can be easily fooled and be taken advantage of.

Exactly. He knows as much as he reads in the mainstream media.

Craig doesn't own the 1 million bitcoin he claims to own, otherwise he would've used the money to pump his SV shitcoin long time ago.
Michael Saylor doesn't control bitcoin in person. It's owned by Microstrategy and that company has a board.
Most of the coins associated with CZ is again owned by Binance, not him in person.

If Black Rock buys bitcoin for the ETF OP's friend will probably say that its another whale owning bitcoin that can dump it all.

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: J.P. Morgan Thinks the Big Crypto Rally Is Overdone on: November 15, 2023, 10:09:27 PM
Looks like JP took a chance with this prediction trying to slow down bitcoin and bitcoin showed JP the middle finger. Not literally of course.

Banksters are getting desperate watching bitcoin do its thing. I bet their trading desk went short before the article was published. I hope it was a leveraged short that just got liquidated.
No love for banks here.

News like that matter only to traders. If you're the average Joe who DCA, or you're a long time hodler who saw 16k and below, you don't care. So who are they trying to scare away? Institutions don't read JP reports.
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 15, 2023, 09:56:47 PM
The higher it goes the bigger the dump.

$5000 - $10.000 red candle would be appropriate.

hahahahaha

You been saying that since $30k.

Funny dat..

He watched too much of idiots who sell their courses on youtube.

Some of them use the attention they get by posting ridiculous predictions to get more sales and make some poor souls join their VIP trading group.

so honey badge woke up and will be eating  snake very soon.  39k anyone?

It needed to cool the fear & greed index a little bit before adding some wood to the boiler.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you rather make your investments in FIAT or CRYPTO? on: November 14, 2023, 09:50:49 PM
Based on my experience I'd choose cryptocurrencies because I did well in this field over the years and I know a thing or two about it.

This is a pointless question to be frank because most of us are already invested in crypto. It's like asking someone driving a car if he'd rather walk right now or keep driving Cheesy

If you'd give me a million dollars now or a million in bitcoin I'd choose bitcoin, if that's what you're asking. I'd prefer bitcoin over stocks as well and my dedication proves it. Over the years I kept holding bitcoin instead of converting it to fiat money or anything else.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hot take: Your crypto portfolio should have more than just Bitcoin. on: November 14, 2023, 09:34:51 PM
I think those missing the most from the Blockchain industry are the Bitcoin maximalists, they have decided to shut out all avenues of exploration just because of their belief in Bitcoin and this is evidently visible in their portfolis. It is a disaster to have a portfolio filled with just one type of asset, this is not just applicatble to blockchain alone but investung generally.

Tell that to people who only own stocks. That's a single asset type.
If you own Tesla stock and bitcoin that's a 2 asset portfolio.
When you own investment real estate, gold, bitcoin and Tesla that's a 4 asset portfolio.

Stop telling people what to do with their money. Warren Buffet would tell you that holding crypto is a disaster. I think that people who have dozens of altcoins in their portfolios and have to waste time to keep track of all of them are causing themselves problems. Doing something like that instead of holding bitcoin is a real disaster.

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixing is NOT money laundering, per se on: November 14, 2023, 09:23:28 PM
Centralised exchanges are a central part of the bitcoin ecosystem so if they're surrendering their users to American regulation they'll see smaller profits. If they push them away they'll use decentralised exchanges setting a different way to trade so it's going to hit their profits.

I think that these exchanges are going to risk losing a part of their clients if that's what it takes to be able to transact in the country.
What choice do they really have? Give up users or shut down. They can also fight the government in court but that could take time and be expensive. Only the biggest exchanges will try this.

Do you think the governments don't know it that people will run away from centralized exchanges if they start sharing information about every transaction with the IRS and other 3 letter agencies?
It's great news for them because less legit exchanges means less legitimacy for the crypto ecosystem and slower adoption. In other words less competition for CBDC.
