741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An easy way to figure out what you have paid for BTC? on: May 10, 2021, 12:18:17 PM
There's a number of ways to do it. If you have no record of your transactions and no way to ask your exchange or person who you bought from for the data, check the dates of your transactions.

If you made a transaction the coins were transferred to your adddress. Compare that time to the average price of bitcoin at that exact day.

I guess we'd need more information about the way you were buying to help.
742  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why I am confident Bitcoin price will still rise A LOT before the next big crash on: May 06, 2021, 09:51:57 PM
In 2017 Bitcoin did almost X3 after it crossed the red line. Maybe this time only X2, who knows but I am confident we are still far from the cycle top.

X2/X3? try X7 or X8.
back in 2017 when we were stuck in a similar situation price was stuck below $3k and people were panicking that it could be the "end of bitcoin" since there was a huge fee spike and spam attacks were rampant.

This is what I'm thinking too. This bull run is very similar to what happened in 2017 when we broke the ATH of 1000 for the second time and went to 3k right away just to keep falling for more than a month from that point.

People don't remember now that we lost 30% back then which would be similar to a fall to 44 thousand from our current ATH. We fell to 47000 in that last correction. Looks similar? To me it sure does.

There still was no sharp almost 50% decline like when we fell from 20 to 11 thousand at the end of the 2017 bull market.
743  Economy / Economics / Re: If Something is cheap you Buy it Buy the dips on: May 06, 2021, 09:38:33 PM
You don't buy coins blindly because it is cheap so you don't get trap. Many projects are dead on arrival and so when you invest, you go down with it . You need proper research before investing on any project.

He's not talking about a coin project but USD. He wants you to invest in fiat money like they do on forex platforms.

I don't dabble in fiat trading and don't recommend it. The margins are so small you are forced to play on high leverage to get any significant profit. It's a meat grinder for newbies.

I also don't trust Biden. He look's like he could die from a heart attack at any moment.
744  Economy / Speculation / Re: CoinDesk editor believes Bitcoin will hit 1 million per coin. on: May 06, 2021, 09:22:34 PM
@Juggy777. I would call that larping, however, presently witnessing that dogecoin is going to $1.00, I believe him hehehe. This is a crazy cryptospace market we have here. All fundamental analysis is thrown in exchange for the pump.

Actually fundamentals strongly support the price of bitcoin.

If we could go to 20 thousand without Elon Musk, Paypal, all the hedge funds and institutional hype, we can surely be at 60 with all of them in and a new bull market. 1 million is a different thing, I agree, but who knows what will happen in 5 years. Maybe Bitcoin will save some countries from hyperinflation and economic collapse?

When it comes to Dogecoin I'm baffled too. The power of social media is strong with this one.
745  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-04-26 NYP - I took hallucinogenic mushrooms and made billions off Bitcoin on: May 06, 2021, 08:54:57 PM
People try to promote their own products using the general hype surrounding Bitcoin, and this incident is no different. Here the investor (Christian Angermayer) is trying to promote psychedelic mushrooms by using Bitcoin as clickbait. For profiting out of Bitcoins, you just need to HODL. There is no need to do anything else. Cannabis or mushrooms are not going to increase your profits. I don't think that we should give importance for these people, as it will harm the mainstream adoption of Bitcoin.

Precisely.  Anyone who has bought and held (or mined and held) between 2009 and early 2021 is way ahead.  It hasn't been rocket science.

If you were an alcoholic you could say alcohol is responsible for your winning streak with bitcoin because you were always investing while drunk.

If you were a sex addict you could say that you always called a prostitute before trading and it made you even more money.

This guy is pretty stupid to think tripping was the real reason behind it all Cheesy

Most of us here made money on Bitcoin and we aren't blaming it on some random things.
746  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-05-03 EBay says open to accepting to crypto currencies in future on: May 06, 2021, 08:15:51 PM
Great news. Not using ebay a lot since Amazon is far more popular here, but I'll accept bullish news in any form they come Wink

Reading the linked article: "we want to make money off of NFTs while the hype still lasts." I wouldn't expect to be able to bid on eBay auctions with BTC anytime soon.

I hope it will prolong the hype even more. Buying time begins to take literal form Cheesy
747  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: holding is not an easy thing on: May 06, 2021, 07:57:26 PM
It's important to understand that selling to be able to live and continue holding and trading is completely normal.

Say you hold 10 bitcoins and need to sell 1 to pay your bills for another 2 years and be able to stay at home trading. Most of us would do it. Even if Bitcoin goes up and you feel like you've lost an opportunity of holding that 1 additional coin, you have not. If you decided to hold everything and had to borrow money from people it would have been even worse.
748  Economy / Economics / Re: Markets taking profit on: May 06, 2021, 07:31:37 PM
It's normal that people are taking profit but as you can see all lows are quickly bought back.

Profit takers are not going to keep doing it forever. I feel like some traders are moving from Bitcoin to altcoins because coins like doge and chainlink made large gains and bitcoin compared to them looks boring. Traders are following volatile coins and it doesn't mean Bitcoin is losing momentum.

Don't forget that we're still in bull market.
749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Feel Pressed Something while Gambling on: May 06, 2021, 07:12:03 PM
OMG, this looks terrible  Undecided I never thought gambling could cause anything like that, it's crazy.

I love how he keeps gambling with his shit lying beside him. Imagine someone walking in, smelling poo and seeing it lying right next to that guy while he doesn't seem to be bothered. Cheesy

He didn't even wipe his butt for god's sake! People are like animals at times and then they say they're better because they have souls and stuff. Please! Cheesy

I've never been under such pressure to shit my pants or defecate in a public place.
750  Economy / Economics / Re: “You don’t spend money now, you can’t spend after you died” on: May 06, 2021, 06:53:52 PM
"It’s the best financial advice" how on earth can this be the best financial advice when you will always know that you have to save for the future. I pray we don't die young, with this, you must have something to go back to majorly after retiring and all. Not disputing the fact that you should live your life to the fullest and take each day at a time.

This is true because if you die without spending your money you will never suffer from lack of it.

Death is painless, you don't worry about anything and don't need money anymore. It gets worse when you have to live your life in misery, begging for food, worrying about a place to sleep, being chased by debt collectors. We save up to avoid it and spending it all now won't change things for the better.

I'd never call what OP is saying the best financial advice.
751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My feelings after 11 years with crypto. on: May 06, 2021, 06:23:17 PM
I don't know why OP is saying he quit his job and then it went to shit because he lost his job. So which one was it? Were you fired and then started mining or what?

I can tell you that even if I were in a shitty situation I wouldn't sell everything. I'd save up as much as I could, at least 1% of what I had. It wouldn't make a difference back then but now...
752  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you define rich? on: May 05, 2021, 10:40:48 PM
In my opinion you are rich when you can sustain yourself indefinitely and provide for your family.

The main difference between the average people and the rich is that rich people don't count money every time they want to buy something. They don't negotiate with their family members.

In most families and probably also in your family when a child wants a new computer you talk about it, check for the cheapest places to buy, ask what specs the child wants and think where you can do cuts to save money. Maybe a cheaper graphics card? Maybe a smaller drive?

It's the same with houses, cars. You think and talk about it. Do you really need 4x4 or some luxury feature like a sun roof or leather seats?

Rich people just buy things they like. If you see that thing you like in the store and can get it every time, you're rich.
753  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yahoo Hates BTC: "Forget Bitcoin: Here are The Crypto Assets To Follow" on: May 05, 2021, 09:48:50 PM
Yahoo new was up until yesterday owned by Verizon. The sold at a massive loss to some financial company.
Probably why they're hiring uneducated, clueless writers.

This guy who wrote the article basically says that bitcoin is a thing of the past and litecoin and defi projects are better.
Litecoin, a project that was abandoned by its creator who sold everything in 2018 and moved on Cheesy

754  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can Dogecoin reach 1$ soon? on: May 05, 2021, 09:18:52 PM
the doge coin factor can penetrate up to $ 1 because the popularity of this token is very high, and that all makes the possibility that Doge will be pumped to the highest point ..
but the name is crypto we will not know exactly when it goes up and when it goes down..

Whatever the Dogecoin factor is, it is valuable. Dogecoin turns out to be a great investment, but I can't mediate any truth about it. Invest your money wisely.

It's a great thing to trade. I wouldn't call it a great investment because its pump was unexpected and unwarranted.

This coin slept for many years just to be awakened by Musk which is such a random event that you can't rely on it and doge is not something you should be putting your money in for long term profits or even store of value. It's the very definition of a bubble as it's a coin that isn't used for anything but speculation and it as all altcoins do depends on Bitcoin.

Bitcoin's crash will mean doge's crash, but doge's crash won't mean bitcoin's crash. Think about it.
755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Charlie Munger hating on bitcoin on: May 05, 2021, 08:37:56 PM
"I don't welcome a currency that's so useful to kidnappers and extortionists, nor do I like just handing over billions and billions of dollars to someone who just made up a new financial commodity out of thin air," he added.

Here's a wake up call for Charlie. Most extortionists and kidnappers in the world use cash and the most popular cash in the world is the US dollar.

Do some math Charlie. How many kidnappers were paid off using bitcoin and compare it to the number of kidnappers who were paid in USD. I have no idea what the numbers are but USD is going to score 100x in this one.  Grin
756  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You could die from trading. on: May 05, 2021, 08:12:08 PM
You can literally die from everything. I read once that someone died from drinking too much water.

You can die from not having enough sleep, lying in bed too much, eating too little, eating too much and so on. Surely you can die from trading.

There were people who died from playing computer games too much, there were people who died having sex because their hearts gave out.

If you sit watching charts 24/7 you'll probably die too Cheesy
I don't think this is something you have to warn people about.
757  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: bitcoin for cash on: May 05, 2021, 07:44:38 PM
Selling bitcoin for cash.  I have between 40-50.  I am looking for cash only.  Come meet in our office.  We are in the united states

If you're trying to advertise this isn't the place for it. Try "marketplace".

You forgot to add any details like the location of your office.

This looks like a post written by a child not someone who runs a business and has 50 bitcoins.

I bet currency exchange is the best place where you can find someone on such deal, you can move this thread instead. Since its a meetup transaction better do it near in the police station or inside a establishment for security reasons.

Not necessarily. There are physical exchanges all around the world where you really go to an office with cash and they wire Bitcoins to an address of your choice.
If it's in an office building that has its own security and a car park the transaction is pretty safe. If you're planning to trade a lot just take some friends with you.
758  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving asset in bitcoin is much more better than saving in banks on: May 05, 2021, 07:32:00 PM
But of course, any FIAT money is doomed to monetary inflation.

Need to buy a house? Cash out BTC and buy it.

Need to buy a car? Cash out BTC and buy it.

But never cash out all your BTC to keep them in your bank account, that's the most stupid thing you can do Smiley

I'll make it simple for you. Never cash out to keep cash Cheesy

It's a joke of course. Cash is still better than electronic fiat money in your bank account.
IMO physical goods> Bitcoin> Cash> Money in the bank. Physical goods first because all forms of currency ultimately lead to buying what you want.
759  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how many more years our bitcoins will be save from quantum supercomputer on: May 04, 2021, 10:12:46 PM
The problem is not with quantum computers breaking a code. The problem lies in coding the existing software into a language understood by a quantum computer and then translating the results back from quantum data to binary.

If you could do it fast and easy then a quantum computer would already be a threat to every single encryption available in the world.

Don't you think that there are more important things for countries to protect from quantum hacking like missile launch codes, satellite controls and intelligence messages?
760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Doge Success Force Bitcoin to Improve on: May 04, 2021, 09:56:05 PM
I really hope Dogecoin will reach $1 so I can convert my last Dogecoins to BTC once for good and forget about this pump and dump coin.

I had some doge and did exactly that when Bitcoin dumped a week ago while doge remained at ATH. Doge is fine as a joke coin but it will never be a top market cap coin.

OP said that Bitcoin started the same way because finance people thought it was a joke. The difference here is that everybody think doge is a joke, even its supporters and the crypto community.
You think people will dump bitcoin and pay with doge just because of transaction time and cost? If this was the most important factor they'd be using BCH not BTC since 2018 and we wouldn't be talking about Doge at all.
