This was a horrible childish prank that made me look bad and I have no excuse, just that I won't do anything like this again.
I have settled with mostly everyone who bet in this troll thread and it sucks having this be one of the things I'm remembered for, but I won't let it happen again. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=140654
Don't think pirate will payout as promised? If you truly believe that Pirate is a scam/ponzi, then this is a no-brainer easy money for you.
Post in this thread how much you're committing and I will double that amount you commit (maximum of 10,000BTC in bets allowed in this thread total) if Pirate does not pay out in 3 weeks as he described in his thread.
To make your bets easier to read, please stick to the following format:
20BTC 13dSK4663Ts7j2PwHS1eUVjycKLBwx7PJM Optional comment
The above post would be betting 20BTC that he in fact is not going to payout as described. If I lose the bet, you get 20BTC sent to that address. If you lose, you'll need to send 20BTC to my address.
Anyone (including myself) who renigs on their bets will be labeled a scammer on the forums. Theymos will retain the IP addresses of everyone who has committed here and as you are marked a scammer for not paying, you will also be reported to the bitcoin police and tracked. For this reason, it is important that you do not bet more than you can afford to lose. Considering the high probability of fraud from newbie sockpuppets, only established 250+ post users will be allowed to participate, unless they participate through an escrow who will hold their coins. This is up to them to find the escrow although many posters in this thread have agreed to act as such.
The minimum commitment is 0.1BTC. The maximum default bet for normal users is currently 1000BTC per person. If you would like to wager more, please PM so that I may do a more extensive verification of identity and holdings. Thanks.
Disclaimer: Although I think pirate is a high risk venture due to a complete lack of transparency on his part, I am sorely reminded that the forum needs to be taught a lesson when it comes to crying wolf on things without evidence. It's getting sickening. "SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!". So put your money where your mouth and bet for a better bitcoin forum/community overall.
For the record, the address to remit your funds to if you indeed lose is 13dSK4663Ts7j2PwHS1eUVjycKLBwx7PJM
Thank you and good luck!
I reserve the right to lock this thread and stop accepting additional bets at any time. All existing bets in the thread will still be honored regardless.[/s]

Dear community, I'm putting together an article for the Bitcoin Magazine (October 2012, Issue #5) and I'd like your opinions. One of our greatest and most respected leaders in the USA today has told us to vote our problems away instead of take arms against the government. The ballot is stronger than the bullet.
What do you think about this? Should Bitcoin be defended with guns or lawyers and votes? If ballots were so strong, couldn't Lincoln simply have voted John Wilkes Booth's Philadelphia Deringer to not fire? Notice: By responding to this thread, you give Bitcoin Magazine the right to freely publish your quote in the magazine.

Vladimir Marchenko our Executive Editor has posted a thread already, but I think it was more useful as a progress report thread and did not make it clear (at least by the title) that issue #2 and #3 are now for sale. This is a quick update on status of Bitcoin Magazine.
We have firm date of release of DRM free digital edition of Bitcoin Magazine #1 to our subscribers. It will be done on 6th of August 2012.
We are also working on making Bitcoin Magazine issue #1 digital edition available on various mobile devices including at least iPad and Android marketplaces.
Release schedule for printed and digital issues was altered due to scheduling requirements of our distribution contract with B&N. This was unfortunate and should have been expected, but as mentioned earlier it was our first time releasing something to a distribution company.
We expect issue #2 to start shipping in the second half of August 2012.
We expect issue #3 to be available in some Barnes & Noble stores in September 2012. While we do not have firm data on B&N order yet we expect that issue #3 will have very limited availability in stores, 10 copies or less per store.
Negotiations are in progress to have Bitcoin Magazine on shelves of WH Smith (UK) and Walmart starting October - November 2012.
Thanks to the strong feedback from our subscribers on lost and delayed shipments and helpful feedback about print quality of Bitcoin Magazine issue #1 we have dramatically changed our print and logistics processes. Starting from issue #2 we print Bitcoin Magazine in UK with a very reputable partner and using significantly higher quality paper and print processes. We also have changed shipping process significantly. The changes made shall ensure quick and reliable magazine delivery to our subscribers, worldwide.
The pricing of the magazine has been changed. Starting with issue #2 the cover price for printed edition will be 8.88$ (USD) or local currency equivalent worldwide. This means price increase for US customers and slightly lower prices for the rest of the world. There will be discounts for bundles of 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions.
Please note that due to distribution related print schedule shift, advertisers looking to place ads in issue #3 (the one that is scheduled to be sold via Barnes & Noble) should contact us immediately. There are still a few days to place ads in issues #2 and #3, but after August 6th this will not be possible.
As always, thank you for your support as a community. You have made Bitcoin Magazine a success!
Speaking purely aesthetically, Issue #1 was a deep kiss.
In looking at the next 2 issues I am editing right now, Issue #2 is dry humping and Issue #3 is double penetration.
I have never been prouder to be a part of this orgasmic magazine. See you guys at the conference. We'll be signing special editions there and broadcasting a feed for the people who couldn't attend.
TL;DR? Bitcoin Magazine Issue #2 and Issue #3 are now available for purchase!

I'm writing this from a bus at 3:24am. I was scrolling through the staff forum and found "error"'s original request to give me a scammer tag back when I was 3 weeks old to Bitcoin and already developing useful and interesting shit. Anyone who reads the ridiculous thread where I was trying to purchase a GPU in Korea and didn't have bitcoins as fast as I thought and owed someone 1BTC who decided to go on a libel campaign instead of actually PM me and ask when I could pay, and how even the mods were quick to stomp on me and tell me how they'd never do business with me, no moral fiber, etc (this is actually where I first met Vladimir!), will know just how serious I have always been about developing bitcoin. Many people know me as a troll, but I think it's time to come clean--- I've only trolled because of how much everyone trolled me when I was just an innocent and extremely interested newbie. The paranoia here from users on in these forums has jaded me something serious, and looking back at the way I typed so passionately in defense, I have a renewed spirit in being useful and making more mistakes openly. I've heard trolls here peg me as being self important (they even think this thread is) but it's that I truly love leading, sharing ideas, building and overall being useful however possible. I digress, I have been defending myself here since day one and have said the same thing over and over again. People seem to have a short memory though, so not as a self-promotional rant but rather as a healthy and hearty "fuck you" to all those non-believing bullies who doubted me and were so sure I was up to something, I present you as celebration of 5000 posts, a look back at when I was "born". It's really entertaining, regardless of which camp you're in. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28004.0I hope I can continue proving you cockwads wrong (like the 12 people who have me on ignore) year after year until you start learning that your formulas for "figuring people out" are broken. Sorry for the ramble. I tend to ramble after midnight. P.S. thank you senbonzakura. You changed my life in a way. So did Maged. And most definately Vladimir too.

Pardon my ignorance, but I just downloaded bitcoind for the first time on a laptop it it took 3 days to catch up with the blockchain. Is there a way to download the client with the blockchain already "loaded"?
Note: I'm aware of lite clients but would like to store the blockchain locally, but update as little of the blockchain as possible from install

Dear tinfoil hatters, So bankers hate bitcoins huh Fuck you. They love bitcoins and they think it's really cool. Not everyone who works at a bank, owns a bank or has money in a bank account is against human rights, freedoms and decentralization. They do their job because the free market (read: you) demands them to. You want to bark about the existence of banks? Yell at yourself for still using one. Paypal for bitcoin? MtGox? Are you fucking kidding me? P.S. I got a free piggy bank and one more subscriber to the Bitcoin magazine.

I know we all know this is a scam, but it's worth having this resource on the forums and Google's listings to show people who have half the sense to do some checking up on things before they buy into them. The owner of easzpay.com has been spamming this forum under dozens of fake accounts, is permabanned, creates another account, process repeats dozens and dozens of times per week. As shown in this thread, Theymos states: I don't know why he bothers. His posts usually get nuked pretty quickly. No need for a sticky, IMO. These are the IPs he's used, if someone wants to try tracking him down: 1.221.78.82 1.230.127.68 1.234.36.113 1.234.4.166 1.234.45.44 1.234.7.147 1.249.123.196 1.252.226.252 101.66.61.191 108.62.199.13 108.62.199.136 108.62.199.17 108.62.199.19 108.62.199.20 108.62.199.229 108.62.199.23 108.62.199.230 108.62.199.25 108.62.199.28 108.62.199.31 108.62.199.33 108.62.199.36 108.62.199.38 108.62.199.40 108.62.199.43 108.62.199.44 108.62.199.46 108.62.199.48 109.169.66.205 112.2.5.11 112.216.145.91 112.217.232.118 112.220.234.195 113.21.246.42 113.97.240.27 114.108.137.73 115.207.62.169 115.68.21.186 115.68.59.83 116.213.132.18 117.135.140.11 117.135.140.39 117.52.82.63 118.216.255.63 118.32.191.162 118.46.219.200 119.155.21.57 119.30.38.5 119.30.45.34 119.30.45.35 119.30.45.58 119.68.237.117 12.20.60.12 120.193.52.86 120.199.224.88 120.199.228.50 120.40.134.96 120.43.12.157 120.43.12.199 120.43.19.103 121.0.112.199 121.125.74.76 121.153.22.11 121.78.131.214 122.173.181.204 123.143.189.98 123.153.69.201 125.136.130.20 125.140.193.228 125.141.224.71 126.114.231.205 126.15.1.93 14.145.73.155 165.132.224.15 175.210.203.179 180.149.7.204 180.149.7.213 180.211.195.127 180.234.245.49 180.246.107.8 180.67.207.50 180.69.254.158 182.178.204.41 183.2.151.207 183.96.230.24 184.95.41.7 202.201.253.61 203.228.64.162 205.164.3.144 209.73.144.188 210.118.15.190 210.127.210.5 210.222.130.2 210.56.59.179 211.118.151.252 211.154.133.174 211.175.36.125 211.195.108.240 211.196.157.24 211.238.108.115 211.36.8.130 216.172.158.11 216.172.158.13 218.108.89.46 218.200.212.197 218.200.50.68 218.201.241.251 218.203.211.34 218.204.135.206 218.206.231.57 218.206.45.243 218.23.145.60 218.232.109.227 218.234.17.238 218.38.13.37 220.161.103.75 220.161.98.168 220.71.120.215 220.76.56.125 220.90.206.11 220.94.105.71 221.143.48.71 221.145.226.7 221.176.168.29 221.176.189.22 222.100.14.247 222.122.47.254 27.159.234.63 50.117.117.23 50.117.117.25 50.117.117.45 50.117.124.148 50.117.124.150 50.117.124.153 50.117.124.154 50.117.124.155 50.117.124.156 50.117.124.184 50.117.127.169 50.117.127.170 50.117.127.172 50.117.127.173 58.187.95.122 58.49.57.98 58.8.151.70 58.97.209.175 58.97.226.21 59.174.46.17 59.58.148.9 59.58.151.34 59.58.155.251 59.60.122.120 59.60.125.171 59.60.127.241 60.196.35.188 61.235.87.236 66.79.161.239 66.79.161.245 67.60.233.57 69.195.157.41 69.195.157.44 69.195.157.45 69.195.157.53 69.22.174.157 69.46.82.226 70.154.161.78 70.89.136.52 96.226.119.132 Several people from the community have already tried buying Bitcoins from this service just to test it and none to date have received any.
