141  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Changenow.io Scam - 4100$ in BTC! Never send money to this cunts!!! on: April 12, 2024, 05:24:57 PM
This is my first time of hearing about this exchange...
Idk about you but it runs many years already and selective scamming its users too, it has a like service the changelly that has the same track record

They had already several scam accusations against them and I think they are not listed on Bestchange (I have not found them on BTC to usdt.
They are actually in there[1], changenow admin and bestchange admin already replied the OP's complain there and the coins sent by OP is considered as high risk (gambling, stolen coins), as its against their TOS, it looks like changenow has the uppe rhand on this case.

About the refund request of OP i don't think it will be sent too soon.

142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good bitcoin security starts with strong PC and mobile device security on: April 12, 2024, 07:03:16 AM
Seeing this phrase, I had a desire to categorically disagree with you. I won’t even read the links you provided, since I know from my own experience that using Linux systems most often requires minimum requirements....
I'm talking of computer and laptops that has Linux as default OS (Linux based OS in the market)  that's why i said they are on higher specs and only rare produced based on the link i provided if you may read. I'm not talking of the minimum requirements of Linux to be installed because you're indeed right of those info, no doubts about it
143  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Attack on freebitco.in account on: April 11, 2024, 11:48:02 PM
It looks like you're not the only one who experienced this since march, some of its users too complained on their ANN thread[1], you can make a post there too linking this thread. But as long as there's no response from TheQuin, this will not be cleared. Maybe this is just a technical issue of not reflecting the new address's balance or what, lastly the site might be hacked that way, i hope it's no though. But for the mean time, what you need to do is to wait and don't try to deposit again on the site.

144  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Uptime Website Status on: April 11, 2024, 03:43:54 PM
Update:

Chart bar will only turn red if the downtime is 5 mins and above but it will still show the downtime in minutes if hovered, the same thing downtime records will be showed in the activity section.
145  Other / Meta / Re: Where can I discuss tech issues for the Lightning Network? on: April 11, 2024, 12:33:24 PM
If it's more in discussion, i see it more discussed in bitcoin discussion board based on ninjastic.space[1]. But technicalities are asked in Development & Technical Discussion

146  Other / Meta / Re: Option to Allow / Restrict merits on the OP Posts on: April 11, 2024, 04:18:40 AM
You mean if the user has enough merit, so the user doesn't need it anymore?

Well, merit system was introduced so quality posts (some for appreciation) will be rewarded regardless who the poster is, its rank and so on. So restricting posts to receive merit contradicts its purpose.
147  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How can I anonymously get Monero with Bitcoin or Ethereum? on: April 10, 2024, 11:30:54 PM
This exchange that you provided is not to be trusted. Are you their agent.   Grin
Looks like both newbies are here for make-story-believe drama, the site used is supposed to be a phishing site from the site mentioned of @RickDeckard.
With all the replies above, the OP only cares and replies the replies of the newbie. So yeah, it's suspicious enough to think that these newbies came here to promote that site both verbal/written and google ways of SEO.
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: wallet on: April 10, 2024, 03:23:32 PM
The errors is obvious. Do you have any device aside from android? Because obviously it has an error based on your screenshots. Try to use desktop. If you don't have any desktop/computer. Import your seed on Myetherwallet (MEW) app on android it will work the same.
149  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Freelancers to hire: Coinlancer.net. Anyone? on: April 09, 2024, 11:55:58 PM
Their brand is actually familiar to me because I can still remember there was also Coinlancer project that was promoted here years ago during the time when ICO was very popular. And it was also a freelancing site. If I'm not mistaken, their ICO was even pretty much successful. I remember trying to look for a freelance job there. There was a decent amount of available tasks to do, although I ended up not applying at all.
That was the .com and .io domain here's their coin details[1]. The .net is just a team of freelancers who offer their service.

I'm currently planning a new project so I will give it a try and share my opinion  Smiley
Try to offer them to escrow your fund for security, if they will do, you can choose any on this list[2]

150  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Unable to Send Bitcoin because there showing "Insufficient balance" on: April 09, 2024, 11:46:16 PM
I really wonder how these users managed to use such buggy wallet for all these years?
It depends on what keywords OP used to searched to find his first wallet and that makes blockchain wallet comes first on the results to make him choose it, newbies does that thing, either in google search or in google play store. Worst if the wallet are phishing or fake.
151  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Uptime Website Status on: April 09, 2024, 05:17:00 PM
...it looks a lot like ninjastic.space status page.
Actually most uptime status page looks like the same Smiley

My suggestion is the same like I said about alternative forum, you should increase time interval for checking if website is available or not.
I am not sure how other similar services are doing this, but I am sure they are checking more than 1 minute time frame  Wink
Yes, i take note that and will consider this on the next update. Thanks Smiley

...but what will happen if somehow your server goes down for some minutes? Does that count as a downtime for Bitcointalk in the charts history? Or it will show a delay in chat?
It means it cannot record the uptime or downtime of bitcointalk on that specific time.

...
Talking about the epochtalk[1], the last commit of that project was 3 years ago i don't know if theymos or devs still have the plan to continue that development.

This is a serious post if you can help me I am willing to give you 50%
Red flag. Sounds like a holder of a bitcoin core wallet.dat file either from buying scammers or one of them. Especially of those 50% offer, it looks like the wallet.dat file has lots of bitcoin in it.
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance NFT Marketplace is stopping support for Ordinals and Runes on April 18th on: April 09, 2024, 02:35:29 AM
I regret this because I believe that unlike Inscription on other blockchains, Inscription and BRC-20 tokens on Bitcoin can open up a new application possibility for the Bitcoin blockchain, such as storing non-fungible tokens. I also hoped that Binance's participation could support the existence of Inscription on Bitcoin until BRC-20 tokens find their rightful place in the market.
Because it's not necessary especially on why bitcoin was created. Unlike on ETH, BNB networks was made for such tokens, it's just a loophole that was abused. They can migrate to any existing bitcoin forks for the same thing they do unethically or to these blockchain networks for tokens.

Quote
and the $4B fine may have left them with insufficient funds to take risks with Inscription
They can pay that amount, it's not that they will pay it in one-time payment only.
154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance NFT Marketplace is stopping support for Ordinals and Runes on April 18th on: April 08, 2024, 11:29:38 PM
Good. Because it's more like Ordinals are spamming the network since then although i observed fees become so lower started just last week. That ranging 12-18sats/vB for fees snd didn't go high. Plus the plan of the core devs, it will be smooth to make transactions soon.

156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good bitcoin security starts with strong PC and mobile device security on: April 08, 2024, 11:22:25 AM
Let's look at reality and evaluate what's going on. If Linux is really so easy to use and so good, why do the majority of computers in the world use Windows and Mac? We even have to spend money to buy the other two operating systems, while Linux is completely free.
Do you know what computer or laptop brands or models has default Linux OS on it? Of course, there is, computer brands has models with Linux based OS, but only a few. Most sold or selling computers and laptops are in windows only because it's the default OS (as the market trend[1] since then) that can you buy in the market, 60-70% of them are in Windows then next is Mac because of Apple laptops and Mac books, etc.
On the other hand Linux based OS in the market is just rare[2], mostly are high specs that only techy people can use, and mostly personally installed from techy peeps.

Also, if we use Linux, is there a guarantee that our bitcoins will never be stolen or attacked by hackers? What percentage is guaranteed that using Linux will never be attacked by hackers? Don't worry too much about the computer factors we use, what operating system, what brand of computer, the most important thing is how we use it.
Regardless of the computer OS, if the user doesn't know and has bad practice of doing things while online, you will get attacked, lost funds, scammed, phished, etc. But talking about malware, most malware are for windows system since there are a lot of them to target in the first place, Linux based are "very well-protected" against malware but it doesn't mean it's immune.

now develop a tool for Preev.com with an alert option for the people that are maintaining it.  Grin
I added preev to be monitored Smiley You can check it here[1]. I'm thinking if what tool i will use for notification, i can do telegram notification as well as email, but didn't added email configuration on my site yet though.

I bookmarked the URL and added it to my monitoring tools to troubleshoot my sites that I access regularly.
Thanks Smiley

Timezone is added, it shows in GMT for bitcointalk uptime page particularly in the "Recent Downtime Activity" section.

158  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: illyvoip.com accepts bitcoin payments for voip, did and sms on: April 07, 2024, 11:56:44 PM
Although the domain is from 2020, I did not find many reviews about this service. The domain does not contain active visits, and there are about two negative reviews about the service. https://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/illyvoip.com
I do not advise anyone to use them.
Aside from them having 3+ stars only in Trustpilot, there's no other information for them to check, probably because of few user base. Most are only article blog, business directories, nothing about user review. So i'll be wary using them. Plus this thread, OP probably just a marketing person fore hire to post here.
159  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Exodus + n.exchange = SCAM! 1 BTC Stolen! on: April 07, 2024, 11:46:40 PM
I have not used exodus wallet but I am assuming you are talking about those tabs, or links to swap or exchange using a third party. I do not see exodus has anything here to do for you. It's between you and the exchange.
Yes, exodus probably get a load of portion on it being the affiliate who redirected their users to those shitty exchange. Idk if there is a warning first before the user getting redirected to external links outside their wallet. The worst part is the exchange ask KYC in which most instant exchange from those wallets never ask, well, we're talking an none DEX exchange so what do you expect.
160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good bitcoin security starts with strong PC and mobile device security on: April 07, 2024, 11:28:35 PM
Linux may be better for security than Mac or Windows but learning to use it is not feasible for the average person which is 99% of the population.
There is not really much to learn, installing one of the many Linux distributions is more simple than installing Windows these days, as all the drivers and most common applications are installed by default when you install the OS, and even if it was true that decades ago you needed to use the terminal for almost everything, this is not true anymore, and you can install, remove and use the majority of the software through a GUI, which most users should be extremely familiar with already.
This is true. And that's one of the misconception of having linux as there desktop main OS. The pros of mac and windows are only because of its UI and looks, while most linux distros are more in simplicity and speed but some of them already good UI. And some of these OS are beginner friendly like Linux, MX Mint, Ubunto, Zorin, many to mention.
