21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO 19 JULY] AVENTUS - ANTIFRAUD ANTI-SCALPING EVENT TICKETING ON ETHEREUM on: July 07, 2017, 07:26:40 AM
This might have already been posted, but is the ICO structured with any maximum buy limits? Im afraid some whales might just snatch up all of the tokens..

I've checked up the medium article, they aim to gather 7.5m on public ICO. If there will be too much interest, it will sell out very fast...

I remember when this would have been considered a huge amount. These days in this ICO environment that can be gathered very quickly by a decent project like Aventus. Hopefully it will sell out on the first day.

I hope this project gets the interest it deserves, the coins and tokens of the future are going to be the ones that solve real world problems.

First day bonus: 40%
First week bonus 80%

I think you made a typo here, I would assume the first day bonus is higher than the bonus for the rest of the week.
24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How I made 1 BTC in one night from a gambling website on: June 27, 2017, 01:39:32 AM
From the title I originally assumed you earned 1 BTC gambling, but either thats quite some earnings. How much exactly does an affiliate have to gamble to earn you 1 BTC anyway?
25  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will be back in $1,000 ? on: June 27, 2017, 01:35:26 AM
I think 1000$ dollar is a bit drastic, this few days the bitcoin price is falling quite big, but now it is still hanging above 2000$ I do believe that bitcoin won't fall below 2000$, I just a bit worried about how people will react when the august is coming, most of them already panic and this is not too good for bitcoin since the price already dropping

August could bring about a big pump instead of the dump that people are worrying about.

I think for sure bitcoin won't go below $2000 again anyway.
26  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: 400 Bitcoin on: June 27, 2017, 01:34:26 AM
400 btc! you can go with a trusted exchangers or localbitcoin or if you live in coinbase buy/sell supported country then you can buy with them.

I'm guessing he is using it for some illegal purchases or money laundering which is why he wants to do private deals. Just speculation on my part though.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CVC] CIVIC Tokensale :: 21 June on: June 27, 2017, 01:30:59 AM
How will Ethereum's inability to scale affect Civic's longterm plans? The rate of increase of ICOs that is using Ethereum as their backbone would only mean things will get worse. Are you then willing to use Ethereum classic? That could be the trend in the coming months.

Check out this article here Smiley
https://www.reddit.com/r/ethtrader/comments/6iklta/please_boycott_vinny_linghams_civic_ico/

We never know, he might go Rootstock day 1

If it is better for Civic then I do not blame him. I do not know why a lot of people praise Ethereum. It is the most risky platform to make a dapp in because it has yet made the switch to POS which requires a hard fork.

In case some of you did not know, a hard fork in the cryptospace is very risky because of chain splits. It already happened once, it could happen again.

How does a hard fork affect token ERC20 token holders? I wasn't around during the ETH/ETC hardfork so I'm unfamiliar with the process.

I hope this project succeeds, one thing I hate more than anything is ticket scalpers making it difficult for us to buy regular priced tickets.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Segwit opens the door for mining cartels on: June 19, 2017, 05:56:37 AM
Can't say I'm technically competent enough to know if this is true or just FUD, but as far as I know segwit has been extensively tested already and is activated without problems on many altcoins.

I'm very much in favour of segwit + blocksize increase with a look towards real scaleability because both are just temporary solutions as the number of transactions increase.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Good Altcoin for longterm investment on: June 11, 2017, 10:01:43 PM
Aragon I think is one of the best because it will go up with ethereum while building value on its own too.

Read the whitepaper, I have never met anyone who read the whitepaper that couldn't see the value they will be creating for ANT holders.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy LTC now to avoid missing out on: June 11, 2017, 09:57:42 PM
LTC is taking advantage of bitcoins weakness and could become the new bitcoin but I also see risks involved especially if bitcoin comes to a scaling solution then ltc will be back to being the silver to bitcoin's gold.
32  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin improve the economy of a country? on: June 11, 2017, 09:56:34 PM
Bitcoin is great for the individual but I fail to see how it directly improves efficiency in any way which is what drives economic growth.
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: June 11, 2017, 09:55:13 PM
I think, banks will not be disappear. Instead, they'll start using bitcoins instead of fiat currency with some regulations like in fiat.
That has a possibility to happen but making bank disappear that is impossible. Bitcoin is not that powerful to make that happen. But if you want to save your money like in a bank you can used different wallet.

Yes I agree.  Bitcoin cannot make banks disappear.  Like what you said, maybe they will try to adopt and open their banks to accept bitcoin deposits and withdrawals.  Things that fiat money can do.  You can loan bitcoin and invest.  But it is hard again because of its unstable price.

With time when people realize giving themselves the power instead of letting the bank have it is a far better way to live. The bank will just take you money and loan it out making fat interest on it yearly.

Only if peer to peer technology replaces the loaning facilities that banks provide to users will they disappear. Most people don't store their money in banks already, but they do use them for home mortgages and business loans and the like.
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you own your private keys with Desktop Wallets? on: June 11, 2017, 09:52:53 PM
From what I have heard Desktop Wallets are supposed to be good because "you are in control of your own keys". But I have never seen a private key when I have downloaded a desktop wallet. Sometimes you get to make a seed, which I think is the same thing (?) , but often you only get to backup a file. Is that file your private key then?

Yes that backup file has the information for your private key embedded on it and usually encrypted with a password in addition. Its also possible to get the raw private key (string of letters and numbers) but depends on which wallet you use.
¨

But that backup file only works with that particular wallet? Or could I extract my key somehow from it to use in another wallet if I needed to?

Yes if its in a standard wallet format then you can use the backup file with another wallet if you needed to.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to keep altcoins/crypto alive on: June 11, 2017, 09:51:05 PM
Hi guys,

I have my bitcoins since about a year. I fully support the concept of stateless currency, thats why I bought my first bitcoins.

now, I see other coins start growing a lot. My concern is about Bitcoins status as leader. I believe we can have a major crash and developers run away if Bitcoin is not the "gold standard" in crypto. First question I have: would you agree with this concern?

Second question: what needs to happen to make Bitcoin a secure #1? I dont think we even need to do payments in btc, but at least make it relevant.

Your concern is very much valid and in my opinion the only way to get a secure #1 is for a scaling solution to be accepted by the whole community like right now. Otherwise ethereum will overtake bitcoin very soon.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Aragon Speculation on: June 11, 2017, 09:49:08 PM
OK, BTC was once pennies, now is $3000

I get it now, Aragon will be $500000000000000000000000000000.

HODL guise. We all gonna make it.

Ok so how about you give me your reasoning why Aragon should perform worse in the next 6 months than ETH did in the last 6 months instead of some worthless sarcasm.

Sounds like he is sour because he didn't buy in during the initial coin offering.

The only scenario I see Aragon not moving much higher than its current level by the end of the year is if ethereum crashes big time.
What do you mean about the ethereum crashes big time. I don't ever see the ethereum gets a big dump or massive crash till this time. Your word didn't make sense for me. The ethereum trend is always getting green candle and the correction never happen. The reason aragon will move so much in the future caused by the team and the development result.

I didn't say I believe it will happen i said IF.

The reality is that aragon is worth their current holding of ethereum plus the value in all the development they have already done which i think is quite undervalued currently since it hasn't yet pumped substantially above its ETH ICO price.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this normal and safe to invest in? on: June 11, 2017, 09:43:45 PM
Edit: ^^Brother man wrote almost exactly what I wrote, beat me to it.

Its nice to see we think alike  Smiley

And I agree with your point about corrections being healthy, they are much better than a full on panic ridden crash.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How much $$$ do you have "Awaiting Approval" at Polo and how long? on: June 11, 2017, 09:40:36 PM
Props where due- the coins are released out of the waiting pen, under 48 hours.  I can't remove my ow thread apparently but I can say my issue was resolved quickly and I hope the same for you. Maybe  they are getting through the backlog.
Thanks

Good to hear, I moved my coins to bittrex a long time ago when the first server issues started but I'll consider polo again if or when I stop hearing about their problems.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this normal and safe to invest in? on: June 11, 2017, 09:38:36 PM
There's no easy answer. Some people think it will get to 500b before a crash and others think one is due now. At the end of the day its not that its being overlooked its that people have differing opinions on when and some people on if it will happen.
40  Economy / Economics / Re: If bitcoin price is $10.000, will fiat be worthless? on: June 11, 2017, 09:37:06 PM
Well bitcoin could already hit that price this year but I don't see fiat going anywhere in the short term. In 20 years though who knows, but there would need to be some form of offline payment to replace it too.
