1121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: July 17, 2017, 11:55:36 PM

Dumb question, but I managed to order a L3+ with PSU from bitmain. Won't it come with a power cord? Or do I need one of these too?
You'll have to purchase your own power cord. the reason they don't include it is, they sell to several different countries with different voltage set ups on power grids. You need to purchase the correct power cord for your setup. Eg; USA = 110 v. They are easy to find and not expensive.
1122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Live test; BTC Transaction versus USD Wire Transfer on: July 17, 2017, 10:34:42 PM
Nice test, but I think it is not really fair.

There are faster ways to make payments across the globe.

If you would've used a credit card (mastercard, visa), you probably would've had your payment go through instantly.
The Vendor does not offer those options for remittance. Those options expose them to further fees from the CC company and also exchange risk in currency conversion. Agreed, a better option, but still costly and cumbersome for all parties except the intermediary.
1123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Live test; BTC Transaction versus USD Wire Transfer on: July 17, 2017, 07:08:33 PM
Every USD transaction you make between banks is recorded and monitored by the FEDs. If it looks suspicious (the gov can find many things suspicious), you get questioned and your money is seized unless you prove that you are clean.

If you make a bitcoin transaction however; your transactions are recorded  and can be monitored also but you won't get questioned (at least till they figure out who you are) and your money will make its way to the other side no matter what happens. No bullshit.
This is an excellent observation. In addition, don't you just wonder who is getting the "float" on that "Limbo Money"? We all know that traditional banks and fiat systems basically, temporarily steal our money and hold it hostage for inordinate lengths of time. Even though interest rates are negligible, if they do it in serious volumes, ( and they do ) it's just risk free, free income off of our dollars. It's legal theft. There is so much abuse and corruption in this system that people just basically accept it. My money was held captive for almost an entire month and there was not a thing I could do about it. It's time for this to stop. Most of us have to work for a living. Not banks and government. They just steal it from us!!
1124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Live test; BTC Transaction versus USD Wire Transfer on: July 17, 2017, 04:10:55 PM
Just for the fun of it, I decided to run a real life, real money test to compare the efficacies of a BTC Wallet based transaction versus my old world, USD Bank based wire transfer.

Within a matter of days of each other, I purchased two pieces of mining hardware from a reputable manufacturer in China with a solid Customer Service record. On June 19th, I bought one unit and used a USD Wire Transfer to make payment to the overseas Co. Then on June 21st, I purchased another unit, same machine, but used a BTC transfer from my wallet. After 25 days the final results are in.

USD Wire Transfer;
The cash was immediately deducted from my US bank based account on June 19th. It then went into "banking limbo" for 21 calendar days. On July the 10th, the Chinese intermediary bank acknowledged receipt of the funds I sent on June 19th. On July 15th the Chinese Co. acknowledged the receipt of the funds to their Co. account. On July 17th, my account and order were updated as " Paid pending shipment".  After much nervousness, emailing, stopping in the bank and updating "transfer info" with the recipient company, almost 1 MONTH later the transaction was completed.

BTC Wallet Transfer;
Upon placing my order online, I received the BTC address to transfer my payment to. I entered it into my mobile phone, put in the exact amount of the purchase and hit "send" from my BTC wallet on my mobile app. ( of course I only keep enough on my mobile app to complete immediate transaction ). Literally within 10 minutes, my payment was received by the recipient Co., Confirmed as received and my pending order updated to " Paid pending shipment". 10 MINUTES!

While there is still work to do, I think it is highly unlikely that such an archaic, clumsy and inefficient banking system can survive the ensuing block chain onslaught.

Death to traditional banking!

Long Live The Block Chain!!!
1125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Segwit2x gains 90% support before Aug 1st, will BIP148 still go live? on: July 17, 2017, 03:45:33 PM
SegWit (the original proposal which I believe was BIP141) needs 95% to activate. it is the well thought plan, tested, needs the majority to support it to activate. it has practically no risk of any split or any danger to bitcoin.

BIP148 has no percentage. it is rushed and in my opinion not even well-planned. it is forcing the miners to switch by rejecting their blocks if they are not signalling. it doesn't need much miner support and the higher support it can gain the lower the risk of a split will be.
so far it has so little support from miners and there aren't that many nodes running it either.

SegWit2x needs 80% support to activate SegWit, I believe they are going to use the same version bit for signaling and this means if SegWit2x gains the support it needs BIP148 won't do anything because it sees the blocks as signaling what it wants.
the support is so far between 85-90% but it is only in their text that they include in the coinbase transaction. they have to start with the version bit. which I think will start on 21st.
True but segwit2x if I recall correctly will also include a 2MB fork that will be done some months later, that to me is not the way to solve the issue of scaling bitcoin but it seems that no one is willing to compromise.
I thought that WAS the "compromise"? Regardless, it would appear that "scaling" challenges will be with us for a very long time. This will not be over after these dates no matter what the outcome. Has the internet ever conquered "scaling". It seems to immediately utilize all new capacity very shortly after it comes online.
1126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will split in two coins | 100$ per BTC | Fork Plot | 40% Miners Bribed on: July 17, 2017, 03:37:15 PM
This is not a coin that is then centralized, it is run only by blockchain.info. They can at any time block any transactions, or freeze accounts. They also have certain ability to move any coin in any account. Try blockchain.info interactive charts now, they are unavailable...

Can someone please explain this...
I would rather explain the ramblings of Timothy Leary.
1127  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Baikal New Giant+ A2000 - Ready For Sell - Stock Product on: July 16, 2017, 02:01:56 PM
These are available from Baikal directly but they have not published the price. Anyone know what these cost from Baikal?
The unit is $7,000.00 USD from Baikal directly and are available. Personally I wouldn't even consider that price as close to what would be fair. Your yearly profit at .07 cents electric with it's specs is around $9,000.00. Not a chance I'd purchase hardware in this environment that takes almost a year to return my investment. No thanks.

Hi guys . Nice to see a small but growing community here. I had the time to read 90% of all of your posts ... and  I was looking for some alternate coins to mine ... The truth is that i need to get my investment back as i build up some 6x rx470 rigs , with a loan from the bank Smiley Stupid me ... i wish to be apart of something (even a small community , but to make my investment back as well Smiley)  ) . I am interested if you know , how much h/s i can get out from a 6x rx 470  rig because... i have 6 of these Smiley) .. and i reeally need to put myself on the road again .
I also googled UTC mining calculator and some info like that , and didn't find something useful (you should make something like that in the future to put it on the UTCtalk )
Thanks in advance .
       best regards

Welcome DjLittle! Well UTC prce is very low atm, and this coin have a lot of potential, 6 sec / tx is awsome. Maybe in the future with some developements the price will rise. I'm sure if the team will integrate masternodes (because this is the 2017 trend) with 2x intrest the price will go up. Glad to see the community of UTC grow. Cheers!

EDIT: Also we need more nodes and more exchanges.
Lose the POS. It's a death nell. Handing power and preference to people with the most power and money is what the crypto currency community is trying to eliminate. We already have a system that affords the richest and most powerful the greatest advantage. It's called Fiat. Myself and MANY other supporters will never be involved in POS Crypto's. They are a centralized scam.
1130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin Difficulty jump on: July 14, 2017, 01:16:52 PM
.....and yet I am completing purchases and transactions with LTC with ease. I'm not sure where this "coin fandom" comes from or why people think there is only going to be one Crypto currency. I assure you, there will be many. All with different Niches to fill. Until they are ferretted out and identified, we all can benefit by supporting their eco systems through mining and rewards. It's not likely an accident that LTC is the highest mining profitability of all coins currently. Apparently there are a large number of participants that see a unique utility in it. After all, it is the one that has successfully engaged Segwit. BTC, not so much. I have no doubt it will, but truth is, LTC already did. Without any issues.

Well let's say, litecoin is still trading, getting pumped and dumped like any other coin, so is pretty much alive. I would never invest on LTC but that is me, and as long bitcoin is around, ltc will stay very much alive and with believers. The problem will be if bitcoin dies if it will ever die then ltc and all old coins will die too. I still think as technology advances, the market need new coins to cope with them, sha256 will likely be cracked if it wasn't yet, so is a matter of time. if bitcoin is to survive, it will have to change its algorithm, the question is, is even possible for bitcoin to change it? See that is the problem.

Too much money invested by the asic company and mining farms that control bitcoin to allow an algo change.

Someone briefly mentioned an algo change a while back in core devs I believe and it wasn't even a serious comment mind you.  Some big money guy that runs asic mining company or something started foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog that needed to be put down.  He started screaming at everyone, tweeting like a pissed off Trump and threatening people with lawsuits.
That's awesome! LOL!!
1131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin Difficulty jump on: July 13, 2017, 10:23:13 PM
I would just hope value increase.  I don't mind people jumping in to mine.  We need more users than investors and miners.
LTC="scamcoin"? Hmmm. Interesting. First I've heard of it.

Not only him, I have been saying that since it was launched in 2011, ltc is just a copy cat of btc with few added lines of code. Devs did that for marketing purposes anyway. Now that we have many coins that are 100x faster than ltc, the good thing is, ltc scammers don't keep saying, ltc faster than btc cause if they say that many will say the other many coins 100x faster than ltc. So LTC was, now is just another trollcoin like many around. Well yes, ltc was a scamcoin, now is just a trollcoin.

There is a cat on Amazon that has sold several of them at $5,700.00-$6,000. Even at double the current difficulty you can justify a $2,000.00 purchase price. $5,900 a unit? I think not. I suspect that after these folks take a beating on these irrational purchases they will be available at decent levels. Eventually the froth will bleed off the market and irrational exuberance will resume it's rightful place in the US stock market.
1134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin Difficulty jump on: July 13, 2017, 12:54:17 AM
Yeah the ltc miners are very lucky, cause once it settles it never jumps again. Now for eth is different, it jumps every day and forever as long as stays pow hehe
Yes ETH definitely looks like a rough arena. POS seems inevitable so us rookies are probably best served to not even get into that "pool".  Smiley
1135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin Difficulty jump on: July 13, 2017, 12:47:51 AM
So it has begun.   July 8th, LC hashing difficulty = 250k, July 9th 275k. This is a new high by just 3k, but probably an indication that some of the new ASIC Scrypt miners are finding homes in Mining farms across the land. I suspect by October the LC profitability Calcs will look dramatically different.

For you salty old mining vets, how do you think the evacuation of GPU miners in the face of the ASIC assault, will offset the hashing difficulty jumps? If any?

Don't complain. At least you are not mining ETH. That difficulty doubles every month.
There was no complaint. Just an observation and question. It is what it is of course. I was just curious as to how the more experienced miners viewed the effect of ASIC's on the viability of GPU's going forward. It would appear that there is an almost certain obsolescence now built into GPU systems. Does the departure of their Hashing power even begin to offset the new hashing power of the ASIC's power and efficiency?

1137  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Commercial Mining Hardware on: June 28, 2017, 01:37:06 PM
Hey Guys,
I need some help, we are bunch of investors interested in setting up a commercial mining setup. We have a lot of prime land available and enough expertise to get a data center, networks, security etc to get this up and running. We are looking to invest close to 2 mil into this venture. There is however one thing I need some guidance on, so any help will he high appreciated.
We need to help in procuring or talking to companies/people that sell commercial mining equipment. I am not talking about about the Antminers, Dominators etc, stuff that we can buy in server rack forms so we can scale up well and quickly.
Any pointers thanks, happy to even hire someone as a consultant who has a previous background with commercial mining.
thanks

Welcome to the new High Tech Global Arms race. Currently ASIC hardware is sold out with all three of the reputable manufacturers and Pre-Order is the only option. It is seemingly impossible to buy 8-10 of the newest rigs let alone $1m worth. Very frustrating. In all likelihood, once the manufacturers have spooled up to meet demand, difficulty rates will change the game board dramatically. There is one seller on Amazon, ( reputable being the critical phrase here ) who is selling the L3+ for $6,000.00!! He'll probably sell those out to.....

Is this the favorite word of the current society?? "Bubble, bubble, bubble". WTF?? The US stock market has been in a "bubble" for 11 years!! All things are relative! Stop the knee jerk chicken little crap. IT's a MARKET!! They fluctuate!! Too many amateurs in this space mounting soap boxes and claiming legitimacy. It is what it is.
