266  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I have intel with NVIDIA and what is easiest cheapest way to start mining? on: October 08, 2013, 05:02:27 AM
As I said, bitcoin mining is not profitable using video cards anymore, you can try just for fun though.
I switched to litecoins, because it is 2.5 times more profitable. Then I exchange litecoins to bitcoins. I just wish I switched earlier. Lost a lot of time mining bitcoins. Still my video card is not completely paid of.

Erupters can not mine litecoins. Video card can.
Erupters can not do anything except mining, and good luck to sell it when it become not profitable. Video card can be useful in games and you can also sell it if for some reason mining would be not profitable anymore.

I can mine LTC.

So, the cheapest and easiest way for me to start mining litecoins, is what?

So I need to get a different video card. What video card will mine 10 litecoins per day for me?

Thanks for your help

It is not completely true that nVidia card will not work, but it is true that nVidia cards without support of OpenCL will not.
For example, if you try nVidia GT240 it will work.
You have to check if you card supports OpenCL.
Other thing is that architecture of AMD video cards is much better can be used for mining, so even very powerful gaming nVidia cards have lower hash speed than mid range AMD cards.

P.S. I recommend you to mine litecoins, as mining bitcoins using video card is not profitable anymore.

My nvidia care has no support for OpenCL, and cannot use CUDA either.

I was reading about these raspberry pi things that cost $25-$35 or so, and use very little electricity.
What about those? ( I noticed that these raspberry pi things don't use windows operating system though, so I would need to get a different operating system it seems in order to use this for mining bitcoins).

I don't know much about the block erupters. I read a bit about that too.

If I exchange my Nvidia card for one of the amd ati cards that is good for mining, would my pc then be able to mine bitcoins, with just putting in an amd ati radeon graphics card?

From reading about mining, it seems that the NVIDIA will not work for mining.
When I did try mining, the GUIminer program said there was 'NOTHING TO MINE ON' and would not mine.

So what is the easiest and cheapest way for me to sample or try out mining?

I want the easiest and cheapest way to actually do some mining for a beginner.

thanks

So does that mean that I won't be able to mine with my current NVIDIA card?

270  Bitcoin / Mining support / Getting message 'Nothing To Mine On, Exiting' using NVIDIA and no OpenCL on: October 07, 2013, 03:20:21 PM

Hi. I have been reading a bit on the forums, and it seems that I may be wasting my time, trying to mine with NVIDIA.

I am using

NVIDIA GeForce 7050 / NVIDIA nForce 620i

(I don't think I can use CUDA for this)

and also using the scrypt version of GUIminer to mine for LTC

I joined a pool.

I tried to follow instructions as well as possible, though most of the time the instructions leap about all over the place, expecting me to know what they are doing I suppose.

Nonetheless, I click on 'Start Mining'

but I get a message that says: 'NOTHING TO MINE ON, EXITING'

And I theorize that it isn't mining, even though I clicked the button to start mining.

Can anyone help?

People can make their bitcointalk.org Avatar into a NetCoin avatar.

You can link to this image, in your FORUM PROFILE INFORMATION, to make your avatar a Net_Coin avatar:

Just copy and paste that link into the 'I HAVE MY OWN PIC' radio button text box, and your avatar should be a Net_Coin Avatar.
Or you can just copy this image and upload it as your own, rather than linking to my avatar, and this might be a better choice.

Don't you think there may be upside because of starting off lower by trading with XPM to start?

Why did you remove some coins exactly?
Which coins are you asking about?

Netcoin (NET not NTC)

NetCoin ( NET ) is trading on cryptsy.com today

I just got the GPL wallet, and am waiting for it to synch.

Anyone got some GPL coins to give away ?

Here is my GPL address (hope it can receive while it is still synching)

FECoeHxFU3UqTqDUfqPyTJRPqHz3AHJPGU

(GPL address starts with 'F' ? how come?)

GPL is most commonly associated with the Ferengi Alliance. So I am thinking that was the reason for the address version 35, which will always produce a uppercase F for the prefix.

Although against the spirit of just about every Rule of Acquisition I will send you one blocks' worth of GPL (0.2)   Wink

Thank you Dreamwatcher. I received some GPL

279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [KGC] Something is coming to Krugercoin ! on: September 08, 2013, 11:39:09 PM

Krugercoin has recovered and dev's have resumed the development on something to make your coins work for you!

Keep 'em peeled!  Roll Eyes

What are dev's working on at Krugercoin? Is it a secret? How do we keep coins 'peeled' ? Are coins like potatoes , to be 'peeled' ?

Has anyone heard from the dev of BitGem lately? Has 'Mineral' simply dissappeared for unknown reasons ?

Where is the BitGem dev ? The coin is going down in price, and needs the dev to restore confidence in the people again.
