61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Downloading the blockchain over public WiFi on: April 29, 2023, 06:26:43 PM
I thought I would set up a new node using Cafe/restaurant WiFi as an experiment. Some Cafes block Bitcoin, but the one I'm in at the moment seems toi support Core. The one I am using at the moment has a link speed of 173/173 mBits. Core is stating that it will take 13 weeks to complete, and that is with a 24 hour connection. Obviously it will take far longer with intermittent connections. I can see me getting bored in a few days, and I may scrounge a cable connection to speed things up. I'll try to resist this, and keep this as a digital nomad project.
I think it's not advisable to use a public wifi downloading the blockchain because of some risk. Public wifi networks are typically unsecured and can be easily compromised by hackers who may intercept your connection and steal your private information.

Downloading the blockchain isa resource-intensive process that requires a lot of bandwidth and time. Doing so over a public WiFi network increases the chances of the download getting interrupted, resulting in wasted time and bandwidth. and also could potentially violate the network's terms and service, which could lead to legal consequences.
62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What things do you study while choosing a wallet? on: April 29, 2023, 05:34:11 PM
There are a lot of cryptocurrency wallets to pay and receive payments. While you choose a wallet, what things do you consider first like technical support, transaction fees or blockchain technology and why and what is the most important thing for you? We should discuss that!

I've been using crypto for years and tried almost all kinds such as hardware, physical and those that can be created online. Among all these thing, I like my hardware wallet more than others because of its security  it is not too convenient because you need to enter your pin and password every transactions but it is good you can see the number of layers of the security before a transaction can be approve.
Ya the security is very good but i think they need to improve that kind of security. Instead of entering your pin and password for every transaction, they could use 2 factor authentication or use " stay log in for 30 days" type of security. I like they type of security is that using a seed phrase to import your wallet, hard to memorize and also you are the only one should know your seed phrase added also by your custom password.
63  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Need marketplace on: April 25, 2023, 04:45:58 PM
I'm looking for a gift card marketplace with lower fees than buysellvouchers for trading with crypto. Any suggestions?

I think I know some that you can check out like bitrefill, paxful, and coincards. Bitrefill is very popular platform that allows you to purchase gift cards with cryptocurrencies. The platform has a wide range of gift card options available and charges a relatively low fee for its service. https://www.bitrefill.com/

With the shutdown of Paxful, I'm afraid there are no other good alternatives. Most P2P platforms left don't support gift cards.

as he/she said paxful already shut down. The platform charges 1% fee on all transactions, which significantly lower than buysellvouchers' fees. but i can still drop the link if you are gonna check it out. https://paxful.com/

lastly, coincards a platform that specializes in selling giftcards for cryptocurrencies. But this platform charges a 4% fee for their service unlike paxful for 1%. still lower than buysellvouchers. https://coincards.com/
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which one is important? Knowledge or Experience? Or both in Bitcoin Learning! on: April 25, 2023, 04:28:28 PM
I think Knowledge is theory, experience is practice.  I will be more inclined to experience to succeed because everything has experience, right or wrong to change and improve, you can respond to any market situation with what you have experienced.  Over time, skills will also be accumulated and that is experience.  To gain experience you have to accept "pay" for them.  I think knowledge will be required but it will not be an option in this regard.
Same, both are needed to improve your bitcoin learning. Knowledge helps you understand the fundamental concepts and principle of bitcoin, including how it works, it's benefits and drawbacks, and various ways it can be used. Knowledge can be gained through reading articles and books and engaging in online discussion with experts in the field like this community.

Experience, on the other hand, allows you to put that knowledge into practice and gain deeper understanding of Bitcoin through first hand interactions with technology. Gaining experience can be buying, selling, and trading, setting up a Bitcoin wallet, and mining.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gas station payment with bitcoin. on: April 25, 2023, 04:19:47 PM
Is your government pretty lenient with using cryptocurrency as a mode of payment? They cannot deduct it or something automatically or is there a different payment processor that does it automatically with you? Isn't it a hassle to do? I'm genuinely curious about your experience, OP.
I think government will involved interms of business that the op is building. If not, there might some risk that OP encounter since cryptocrrencies are not backed by government or financial instutions, and transactions are irreversible once they are processed. This can make them a target of fraud and hacking attemps, which can lead to the loss of the OP's funds. also Bitcoin transactions often involve transaction fees, which can add to the cost of the buyer's gas purchase. Fees can vary depending on the network congestion and the size of transaction.
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What things do you study while choosing a wallet? on: April 24, 2023, 05:17:18 PM
In terms of selecting a wallet you should consider some of this general information while choosing a wallet. The first one and the important one is the Security of the wallet, you want to make sure that your wallet is secure and your funds are safe. Look for wallets that have two-factor authentication, strong encryption, and back ups. Make sure that the wallet you choose supports the cryptocurrencies you plan to use. Some wallets may only support certain coins, so it's important to check before you choose your wallet.

It's also best to research the wallet's reputation before choosing one. Look for reviews from other users and read about any past security incidents. Choose a wallet that has a good reputation and a track record of keeping user funds safe. In case you have any issues with your wallet, you want to be able to contact customer support. Look for wallets that hav good customer support and provide multiple channels for contacting them, such as email, phone, and live chat. You might also consider the transaction fees or monthly fees. Be sure to compare fees and choose a wallet that offers fair pricing.

67  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Need a trust Site Cloud Mining on: April 24, 2023, 04:13:31 PM
I want to start a cloud mining any cryptocurrency
I think I know some of these sites like genesis mining, hashflare and nicehash. Genesis mining offers mining contracts for various cryptocurrencies such as bitcoins, ethereum, litecoin , and more. You can choose between different mining plans with varying hash rates and durations.https://www.genesis-mining.com/

while Hashflare is another cloudmining platform also offers mining contracts for various cryptocurrencies including also bitcoin, ethereum and i think zcash is included. you can also purchase hashpower contracts for fixed duration and mine cryptocurrencies without having purchse and maintain their own mining hardware.https://hashflare.io/

lastly, Nicehash is a marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of hashing power. You can rent out their own mining hardware or purchase hashpower from other user to mine cryptocurrencies. Nicehash also supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies and algorithms, and you can choose between different mining contracts with varying hash rates and durations.https://www.nicehash.com/

Reminder from a friend that while these platforms are popular and reputable, cloud mining can be a risky venture and there is no guarantee of profits. ; )

The price of Bitcoin is really dropping from 31k  down to 27k base on the current price fluctuating while is still good to buy more Bitcoin and hold, because is an opportunity and good to invest and keep holding Bitcoin for future return profits.
It's the trader another risk to take, cuz it can fluctuate rapidly in short periods of time. The factors that can influence the price of bitcoin, such as market sentimen, regulatory changes, global events, and technological advancement.

as a trader also its better to know that it involves significant risk, and it is essential to conduct thorough research or its better to seek professional advice or friendly advice before making any investment decisions. It is crucial to consider your financial goals, risk tolerance, and investment time horizon before investing to bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies.
69  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Intel Discontinues Bitcoin Mining Chip Series on: April 23, 2023, 11:08:14 AM
Who compared the characteristics of Intel Blockscale 1000 chips with competitors?
Their video cards have not conquered the market either. Intel talks about cutting costs, but the product has already been released and tested. It only needs to be sold.
It turns out that they have an expensive production?
The intel blockscale 1000 is a high-performance computing platform designed for data centers and other large-scale computing applicators. It is based on Intel's Xeon Scalable processor and is designed to provide scalable performance, high reliability, and ease of management.

as for intel's cost cutting measures, it's not entirely clear what specifically they are referring to. However, it's worth noting that Intel has faced increasing competition from rivals such as AMD and Nvidia in recent years, and has been working to streamline its operation and reduce the costs in order to remain competitive.
70  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: SIM Registration: Anong Dapat Ipag-alala? on: April 22, 2023, 06:33:45 PM
Kasi di'ba, paano nalang yung mga magkkaaron palang nf bagong sim card at/o cellphone after April 26? Di'ba? LOL.

71  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How much do I need to start mining? on: April 22, 2023, 06:29:47 PM
I know huge capital is required to meet up huge financial expectations, what's the minimum volume of income one can use to start mining? In a situations where you trade with different strategies and still hits wrong targets, if you apply or use same trading knowledge for mining won't one still loss in mining too? Because I don't have enough money with me, so am trying to cut losses if mining too will not favor me I will decided to venture into mining too again.

Can I start mining with $300 and grow from there?

I think the first question you need to ask yourself is at what price you will pay for electricity when you start mining. Then you need to run some basic math to understand if it can be profitable or not. Actually, mining operations, big or smal are quite intensive and competition is always around the corner. Mining with profit is hard, requires some initial investment and requires loads of time, availability and anothet shit load of stuff, even in very small scale.

Even if you want to purchase a single miner, put it at your home, you need a spot where you have electricity, internet connectivity, where the miner can scream and nobody bothers or you have to account for soun isolation. A part from that you should also consider proper ventilation! Just to start!
It's also a miner risk to take like the cost of the equipment. Mining requires specialized hardware, ASICs ( Application Specific Integrated Circuits ) or GPUs , which can be expensive to purchase and maintain. You also have to problem energy cost, bitcoin mining requires a significant amount of electricity, which can be costly depending on where you live and the cost of electricity on your area.

Mining a bitcoin involves storing a large amount of cryptocurrency on your computer or in a wallet. This can be a security risk if proper security measure are not taken.
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advise to a friend on: April 22, 2023, 06:12:41 PM
Ordinarily, I don't like asking questions like this because I feel they're personal questions that should be answered by myself alone but it has been on my mind for a very long time and I have not gotten a solution for it.

I have a friend that works hard. He does two jobs and he makes a lot of money. Most of his money is in a savings bank account where he saves them. He doesn't have any use for it right now so the money is just sitting pretty in that account. Lately, I've been having the urge to advise him to buy Bitcoin with like 40% of his savings and HODL. Holding won't be an issue for him because he has the patience of an old man. He has left the savings in his account for over two years without touching it. Now imagine him transferring that energy to Bitcoin.

The problem is, someone has convinced him to buy altcoins before now, I think in late 2021 or thereabout. He bought three different altcoins for about $500 and now two out of the three coins he bought are worthless. one is worth about $0.045. The price ain't the issue, the issue is these coins are not like Bitcoin that will rise again.
I have explained all he needs to know about Bitcoin to him and he understands. He understands how Bitcoin is not a get-rich-quick scheme, the risk, and the patience involved.
He buys into the idea but I'm still having doubts. I don't want to look like a fraud when things don't work out. I mean, I can speculate about the market all I want, but I can't be sure what tomorrow brings.

So should I go ahead and advise him to buy Bitcoin or I should leave him to come to me himself? Because he will buy it if I ask him to.

I don't advise anyone to buy Bitcoin. I just tell people how it works, why Bitcoin is better than any other asset, I tell them I'm all in, I tell them I trust the technology, etc an also that they should only invest what they can afford (not to lose but to invest)! If they have spare few bucks at the end of the month, why not?
I also like to focus that I cannot teach them everything and that they also need to WANT TO LEARN and that they need to do their own research.

Sometimes happens that I am talking about Bitcoin to my colleagues at work and they start asking me: but how I buy it? Tell me? Where do we buy it, etc and I tell them that they should not buy it like blindly. That they should always learn at least the basic concepts, etc an then they get disappointed. But yeah, they need to want to learn. This is not easy money!
It's just like you are not encouraging someone to try what is you are doing. They only know they will gain something but they don't know how risk will they have to try just they heard about the money that some people earning. Without knowing the technicals of Bitcoin they will only lose a lot of money.

It's also best to suggest to the people that WILLING to learn about bitcoin, is to read the whitepaper https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf .If they are going to invest its best to spend what they are willing to risk to Bitcoin, not only bitcoin and also to other type of cryptocurrencies.

74  Economy / Economics / Re: Is budgeting still effective in tackling the need to constantly withdraw money? on: October 10, 2021, 02:34:18 PM
Budgeting can only work for a steady salary income at least you know and can plan with how much coming and how much to spend.
Not really, even if you don't have a stable income when it comes to this kind of thing, you can still make some plans or budgeting although you're going to budget weekly if not daily since you have an unstable income.
75  Economy / Economics / Re: Fuel prices hitting an eight year high on: October 10, 2021, 01:53:32 PM
That's alarming because we're running out of it and the alternative solutions are still useless because there's no support and the intermittence of the alternative meaning that they're not as reliable as a standard fuel and many other things.
76  Economy / Economics / Re: Just because prices are high, doesn't mean that is a good investment. on: October 10, 2021, 12:31:07 PM
Don't let this negativity discourage you from investing, the price will get more expensive than what it is right now and you don't want to wait for that time to happen, remember that investment is expensive already, why wait for it to go to that point.
77  Economy / Economics / Re: Ways to avoid being scammed!!! on: October 09, 2021, 06:22:52 AM
In general, keeping away from strangers who give big offers is the best solution, nothing else. The more we got in touch with them, talk with them, the more likely it drags us and become their victim. We should have to bring aside money but focus on what might be their intention of getting close to us. Thus, if we keep that ignorance and being a fool, we surely know what will happen to us or just to realize after.
Anyone who gives you money and asks for a collateral that has some sort of value is definitely going to be a red flag if not yet a scam so tread carefully, these people social engineer you into believing that you're helping them and in favor they're supposed to help you.
78  Economy / Economics / Re: When will the role of fiat currency disappear against crypto. on: October 09, 2021, 02:58:54 AM
Maybe another century or probably when the humans become extinct, I don't think that we're going to lose our dependence on fiat, Romans and other ancient civilization used a form of fiat currency and they all collapsed as a civilization and here we are still using the same thing.
79  Economy / Economics / Re: Are banks needed for crypto? on: October 09, 2021, 01:21:23 AM
No way that crypto needs banks, I've been using crypto for a long time and I don't use banks just to convert or buy some crypto. Banks are a different kind of entity, it may coexist but merging isn't the best for both especially for cryptocurrencies.
Totally agree, I only use online payment apps that can be connected to Binance to get my fiat that came from my converted crypto profits. Definitely bad for crypto to merge with banks since the people at the top of the bank is definitely going to do something so they can fully control crypto when they merge.
80  Economy / Economics / Re: Will we see new ATH this year? on: October 09, 2021, 12:46:45 AM
With 2 months left, I think that there's still a lot of possibility that bitcoin will be able to reach another ATH, plus we don't have to spend a lot of time worrying about that, if you have faith in bitcoin, you will know that it will go down that point eventually.
