Its simple... in Soviet Russia you don't license Gox, Gox license you.

I think GLD has some potential, maybe. I think the value of it is lower than most coins, because the rewards are higher, and a lot was mined on day 1, but so what. I think most people got a decent amount of coinage in the first day. This coin could be honest because it knows its of less value OR possibly I need a damn coffee this early in the morning LOL

make offers please
Lol, there was no GLD premine! there wasn't a pre-mine. anyone who saw the post could have scooped up a lot of coins even with minimal hashing power with that difficulty.

While this is probably true, if they started at a difficulty of 1, or .25, and the coin became popular, very quickly, it would be impossible to get coins, and if it was traded, the coin would be unprofitable to mine. So that means basically anyone without 10 - 30 MH's rigs (for litecoin variants) would get scraps, where as currently with some of the new coins, anyone who sees a release quick enough,m even with minimal hashing power, can scoop up a few thousand coins and possible a nice profit if its traded. I say something like .025 would be a better start than .25 or 1.
What was Bitcoin's original starting difficulty, anyone know?

Now that World coin has been launched and more people jumped to it, it seems these are the current coins of the day, what is your opinion? which is the better investment of time and resources, will any of them even manage to trade on the forums?
GLD's first 2 million coins(around 1/3rd of all coins out right now) were mined in the first 200 blocks. Add on that the coin wasn't even posted in this section of the forums when it launched, giving the dev the opportunity to scoop up those huge bonus blocks, and you have a pretty scammy start imo. Worldcoin looks a bit more professional in it's presentation, which gives me more hope for it's potential for long term success. It could easily fail as well however as more coins will be released daily. I got a few of the 10K blocks last night when it first posted but got a lot of stales and orphans. He gave away a lot of coins today too. He was sending people 5K just for posting their address. But who knows.

GLD = Gold likely in reference to the Gold ETF or something. Could be wrong though

Hey I already got it done! And mines way better. Not some copy paste BS. www.gldcoin.tk for the win. Is it down? I can't seem to hit it.

Coin is dead, most of it was premined.
LOL where do you guys get this stuff? it wasn't premined by anyone but those (like me) who saw it last night. To boot the guy was giving out like 5K to everyone who posted their address.

Massive premine. Stay away from this coin and please do not buy any for real money
There was no premine, the guy announced it last night in the noob section and some of us actually got some of those big blocks until everyone started mining and I got nothin but stales. When I started mining last night there were on like block 48 or something

Just saw the difficulty increased a bit. Still sub < 1 though. Good thing at least is that the reward looks like it stays pretty high for a while. Still getting a block here and there.

Looks like I'm going to have to wait for a decent pool to be created.
Even with my 7 Mhash/s I'm getting no where.
I have only like 3MH dedicated to this and I am getting a few blocks every so often... you get any blocks yet?

I am getting lots of stales etc is that because the difficulty is so low?
You have to adjust these: --expiry|-E <arg> Upper bound on how many seconds after getting work we consider a share from it stale (default: 120) --queue|-Q <arg> Minimum number of work items to have queued (0 - 10) (default: 1) --scan-time|-s <arg> Upper bound on time spent scanning current work, in seconds (default: 60) scantime & expiry should be somewheres near the block time and queue zero... Cool thanks that works a lot better!

"Good faith"
First blocks worth 100x more than later blocks. I lol'd.
edit by good faith, I mean the guy just handed out coins when big miners jumped on I didn't mine those big blocks FYI, I didn't start mining until maybe 3 hours after the posting. I only mined 1000 blocks. Only block I pre-mined or insta-mined was the worthless (in coins) genesis block...

So for reason's that I don't want to get into, I created a private Alt coin with just under 1 million coins to serve as a private currency for an organization. I modified Litecoin code to change the difficulty, block rewards, difficulty, ports, and created a genesis block on 1 node. Because I have miners in several locations
The problem is that I have miners in several locations. So I hard-coded A records into the code that point to the initial node that mined the genesis block, and is now running the updated (with the new genesis block hash I found) daemon, so that they can talk easily via IP.
Problem is, on the Windows Qt version of the wallet, it downloads the blocks, but never stops saying "Out Of Sync". So obviously it is connecting to the other node, but something is just not right.
I didn't change any of the protocol stuff in the code other than the IRC channel names and servers, and the all ports - I just touched the mining portion of the code (rewards, coins and difficulty).
My question is, what would cause something like this, and also is there a minimal amount of nodes/clients that need to connect in order for the wallets to be "in Sync" and to be able to mine. Or, do I need to run the initial node I have sitting on the internet (one the A records point to) as server, and mine some blocks on it after mining the genesis block?
Or maybe I'm missing something on how communication works - but I thought if I had DNS and IRC at least, it should function.

Wonder what will happen to the $1000 USD I tried to transfer to dwolla... Really hope its not seized or anything.

is it getting money into gox? or out of Gox? or both?

fixed by changing the deps path to the correct location - though again, it worked in the bitcoin build and the same deps are in the same exact location.
