1081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Cryptocurrency Distributed Startup Pitch on: November 08, 2013, 10:29:53 AM
Too late to the party fella, eMunie does all that, and a TON more, and does it better than anything else....

Is never to late.
If there are more innovative alt-coins based on different protocols beter it is
for the communitiy because the it will be impossible for the goverments to shut them all down.
The market the peaople will decide which alt-coin to use.

Thanks to all developers which are trying to implement something new and
innovatie which can help people to gain more freedom
and are not guided only by selfinterest
but want to make this world a better place for all of us.

1083  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt-Coin without having to mine using CPU/GPU/ASIC Possible? on: October 26, 2013, 04:09:34 PM
I would like to find out if it is possible to create an alt-coin that uses an alternative method to mining? Perhaps a coin that is time based or one that is mined in relation to a users activities. Mining to me seems a like a waste of energy so I would like to get an idea of the potential possibilities. Also out of interest where could I go to find a alt-coin developer? I realize there are a few tutorials about but I would rather find someone who knows what they are doing.  Grin
One was already created years ago and still going strong today. Not so much an alt-coin, but more of a totally different concept and technology all together. Basically not a clone of bitcoin/litecoin or how its concepts work.

You'll find it here -> http://timekoin.org/
More info at Wikipedia -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timekoin

There are not so much info on this coin in this forum lately neither it seems
to be traded on the exchanges or widely used within cryptocoin community
Are there any services created around this coin or that accepts this coin?!
Who is using it?

1085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Brand new kind virtual currency - CAPTCHA coin on: October 11, 2013, 05:12:07 PM
It's not a good idea, your coin will be open source, so after it's not difficult to reverse engineer a CAPTCHA.

Are you developer? It's matter of design. Your computer will not produce the image for you, so you will not able to do any reverse engineering. P2P network will produce the images and will distribute them randomly between peers.

Let's think. Is bitcoin changing the system. I think not exactly. Who can buy ASIC- only the rich. If they want, they can buy the most powerful ASIC or quantum computers (I'm talking about banks, corporation as google, apple, microsoft ...), so they will get the coins. It's a lost cause.

This statement is not fully true anymore:
"Bitcoin is ... nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part. "

I agree with you!
The system actually never changes!

People or families that were once in power are always in power.
Look at the eastern european countries "new democracies" who is on power in this countries today!
Same communist motherfuckers ex KGB bastards are the richest and hold every key position in every eastern European country.

Therefore the same applies to bitcoin alt-coin.
Who has or owns more FIAT currency  will also own more crypto currency in future.

Anyway related to the captcha thing I found an interesting article maybe will be of good use.

1087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CryptoAve | A Revolution in Crypto Exchange | USD/BTC/DGC/LTC/ARG/SRC on: August 24, 2013, 11:07:37 PM
The servers being in Panama is for anonymity (check their laws). The important thing is they are not US hosted. MtGox and others used US based payment processors, such as Dwolla; had servers based in the US; or were directly involved in bank/wire transfers. All of which this exchange won't do.

This is only an example, but say https://perfectmoney.com and http://payza.com are two of the processors. They take care of the deposit through wire transfer, western union, or any other method available. You'd use that to fund your CryptoAve USD balance. So a middle man always performs the actual financial transactions through the banking system.

Located in Panama sounds good to me.

I never understood what guarantees someone has that his assets will be secured by
opening a corporation (company) in Panama or similar country.

I mean if I would like to open a company there who do I have to trust?
Do I need to go there to do I it personally or how is this done?
Internet if full of companies that offers offshore company setups packages
so how can I know that this are not scams.

Maybe they can even open a company with a bank account there but when the money
starts accumulating on the account what is the guarantee that it won't suddenly disappear?

Funny thing is - your pension pot can disappear just as easy, nothing is guaranteed in our world anymore

Is not funny but is true Sad
anyway if it does not disappear until I retire I think it will be so worthless that it will be like it disappeared.

1089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] [UBERCOIN] Working on a new coin. Will update this thread when completed. on: August 17, 2013, 01:15:34 PM
Hello all, I'm following this
thread and is see lot of arguing over nothing
lot of bla bla.
It seem that some people don't understand that technology by itself can't
save us form ourselves.

In my opinion there is no anonymity
like there is no democracy,
like there is no free market,
like there was never communism etc..

this all are man made inventions which never worked.

To be truly anonymous you should exclude yourself from society
live somewhere outlaw grow your own food produce your own electricity
not buying food in stores and use energy from distribution line
otherwise there is always a record somewhere of your existence.

If the government wants to find you they will find you actually if they want
they can put on a law on that everybody using bitcoin are terrorists and
that they are threat to national security and for that reason
should this people be all locked up in jail like guantanamo.

Then some of you will say but I would be able to use bitcoin (alt-coin) anonymously by using i2p tor
or other technology but I would say to you that they can also fake to be bitcoin or (crypto currercy) users
an put up false merchant pages false announcements false profile on forums and other pages
to catch people that uses cryptocoins like they do now to catch pedophiles or like
they catch prostitution clients on the streets by putting fake whores (female police officers)
and wait for people to hook up.

So bottom line technology can't resolve this issues that are mentioned here
instead only the "majority" can make the change by change I mean real political change.
As somebody mentioned "No Money Exists Without the Majority" i say
"No Change Exists Without the Majority" and to change all this things
the Majority should become aware of the the situation but currently as I see the Majority
doesn't care to much right now.

Cheers.
1090  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone into code breaking i.e. decryption? on: June 09, 2013, 01:34:00 PM
I have few questions too but about rar files security.

1) Does somebody knows if is it possible to unlock a locked rar file
and change for example a file name or directory name in it without
corrupting it ?

2) Is it possible to crack a password protected (encrypted) rar file if
let say 20 to 30 characters  random password was used to secure it?
If yes how long could the cracking process last on a computer grid?

1) Yes. You just gotta brute force the password with the specific software.
2) Maybe, depend on your luck as the password can be any type. Depends on the characters though. A password with 20 random letters would take a desktop PC about 157 billion years to crack it (to go through every possible value). This was tested amaturely by me on the site howsecureismypassword.net by simply typing 20 random letters. Don't know if it's true but you can test it for yourself if you want.

Thanks.

For question under point

1) for locked file I thought of an unencrypted file
without password protection that was locked by using rar locking option only which
prevents the user from changing the content or the rar archive.
By using only this option the content is still readable or extractable without the password
but can't be altered by the user in the rar archive itself.
I tried to alter a file name in the archive by opening the archive in text editor and changing the file name
and then saving the file again.
After I have opened it again in the winrar I receved an error that the file is corrupted.

2) so actually there is no threat from a normal pc user but could it be from a corporation or government
which could have a lot of computing power?

1093  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The point of using testnet and not another bitcoin clone on: May 29, 2013, 09:08:34 PM
Nice idea.

But how to test alt coins that for example are not forks of bitcoin and don't use
the blockchain and the POW for validation?
Actually I wonder how the functionality and resistence against attacks
of a p2p networks is tested in general.

1094  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt-Currency Idea on: May 29, 2013, 11:49:35 AM
Having only started into the world of crypto a few months ago I am completely addicted.

The only problem is the amount of copy/scam coins etc coming onto the market. Its very hard for a newb to all this to sift through what has potential and what doesn't. I'm sure there is a lot of people who can relate to having more clients on their machines than actual coins they have managed to mine.

I have an idea for a currency which came to me in my first few days of mining which I believe has the potential to be not only credible but also be fun to mine. I'm not going to go in specifics just yet.

My problem is I have fcuk all dev experience, I'm more on the tech side of machines, I can build em no bother but other than what I have learned mining thats it.

I'm looking for someone who knows what they are doing to come on board with me and help bring this idea to reality, thats if its even possible as I've seen nothing like it yet

Also from the community I'm looking to know what you want in an alt currency. Your suggestions where possible can be in addition to my own idea.

My main aim is to create a currency which will last, which is different and is not just a re-branding of an already existing coin

Stig

I want a currency that has following features:

1) should be used as medium of exchange for real goods and services
2) should NOT be used for speculation , investment, hoarding and similar crap
3) should be environmentally friendly that means should be minted(mined) on old PC machines
so that people with less resources can also participate in the network
4) should be multiplatform (win,Linux, macos and so on)
5) should be open source
6) should be decentralized
7) user friendly - easy to install and configure
Cool secure against hacking and take downs
9) should grand user anonymity

what else? Smiley
1095  Economy / Economics / Re: Money is Not Needed with Energy Abundance on: May 29, 2013, 09:27:58 AM
You underestimate the need for blow and hookers.  Even with energy abundance, picking crops in the tropics and going down on schmucks will require money.

actually not becaue there won't be hookers then I mean women that are hookers
out of necessity to survive.

1098  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Proof of Human" Coin ? on: May 19, 2013, 07:42:29 PM
Nothing wrong with that. BUT in this life, EVERY TIME some1 becomes richer some1 else becomes poorer. When you mesure wealth with countable things like land, gold, oil or bitcoins THATS HAPPENING.
More often "legal" is the way of the rich people fucks with poor people life.

I really hope you're a teen because that's the only excuse for saying something like that.
No, economy is NOT a zero-sum game.

If X person invents a new technology and gets rich from it, nobody got "poorer".
THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE: everyone gets RICHER because the innovation helps everyone

@Praxis:
I can't agree what are you stated here.
Here is an example:
Imagine that you work in car factory assembling car parts and you get paid for this.
Let say person X invents a robot that does the same job you do but it can do it 24/7 and
faster then you. Then the investor (factory owner) will pay to person "X" bigger
amount of money to buy the robot.
Person "X"  will becomes RICHER , the investor (factory owner) will also become richer soon
but what will you become in this case?!

Did the innovation help everyone?! Wink

1099  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] HazardCoin, a unique scrypt based coin based on time on: May 17, 2013, 01:43:12 PM
Development update:

From the outset, the main problem with this concept was figuring out how to combat the timestamp manipulation vector of attack. As it is decentralized, there is no centrally agreed upon time in the bitcoin network. There exists a network mean time, and the bitcoin client will accept a block as a valid if the timestamp of a new block is within 2 hours of the network mean time. This is obviously an unacceptable window. It would be possible to decrease the window from 2 hours to something more reasonable, say, 30 seconds, but this would require every client on the network to synchronize their system clocks. Not exactly an elegant solution.

Development may shift towards a difficulty oriented method of deciding how many coins are minted if the community deems synchronizing times as an unacceptable solution.

Thoughts?

Can't you use existing time services to sync the clients something like this maybe: http://www.ntp.org/ ?
1100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CureCoin to be released soon. on: May 07, 2013, 09:25:04 PM
Marijuana already cures cancer, this is a scam

Yes I also think that this could be a scam.

Sorry for my ignorance but I wonder how this folding@home works?
I have few questions which are maybe off topic but I'm curious to know.

1) How you know that this folding@home is used for the purpose stated "to find cure for cancer" and
not for other purposes like produce biotech weapons or similar evil staff?

2) If this is really used "to find cure for cancer" how are the users that
participate in the project rewarded? I have read that some point are awarded based upon
calculation performance but what can a user do with this points?
can they be exchanged for real goods and services or fiat money?

3) If the answer to the above question 2) is negative then I wonder why people are participating in this?!
maybe they are motivated by the noble cause to help scientists to find cure for cancer but
from this new questions arises and seems that people don't ask themselves like:

Will the cure for cancer (medicine, drug )
once found will be free of charge for all people to cure themselves as we
gave resources (cpu + gpu + electricity) for free or they
will have to pay astronomical amount of money to buy it?

If this above would not be the case then the following workflow will be achieved:

step 1) people give cpu+gpu power free of charge
step 2) scientists payed by universities or PRIVATE COMPANIES take this power to find cure for cancer
step 3) when the cure is found the patent is registered end sold to a pharmaceutical PRIVATE CORPORATION
         which will produce the medicine
step 4) to cure themselves people will pay for the medicine
for which they already had paid (electricity + CPU + GPU power) by participating in the project

step 5) profit goes to PHARMACEUTICAL MAFIA and they all LOL how they fooled the people with noble cause
         and make profit on them.
