561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 22, 2016, 08:43:55 PM
Clicking the link to chat with the transition bot doesnt seem to be working for me..? Undecided

There are 2 software versions on that page.
One is for [new testnet] and another is for the transition.

Check which version have you downloaded.
You need to download the 2nd version to participate in transition.
562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 22, 2016, 10:58:58 AM
has someone compiled the wallets from src and checked if the apps ( android / win / linux ) from the release matches?

I have compiled from source on linux 32 bit only the [new testnet] version.
Haven't checked for other platforms than that.

563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 21, 2016, 08:21:05 PM
Hello

Forgive me for my ignorance but if I compile the version from source
I get the [new testnet] wallet version.  Undecided

How to I compile from source the wallet version to take part in the distribution for the future livenet?
Both links on the page seems to lead to the same github source code?!  Huh

Can I participate in this process using blockchain.info wallet?

Yes.

That exactly Balance (network) and Balance (nembex) mean in xem blockchain explorer?

... bitcoin too outdated 5 years ago...

yep, 100gb blockchain and obvious segwit fail make me think that now we see last bitcoin pump ever Sad

I Don't think the price will fall in near future even if it does
it 's still and it will remain an entry point to any other altcoin for long time.  Sad

566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 21, 2016, 11:38:50 AM
i don't know if it was discsussed before, but what about unlinking addresses? is there any option?

If i undrstood well removing some or all BTC from the linked address will unlink it.
I'm notsure.
Try it to chek if it works.

567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 21, 2016, 07:07:32 AM
I'm sure somewhere in the thread is a solution to my problem, but if someone would be willing to help me out here. I can't link my BTC to ByteB because the link on the site does not work. I have tried both the win32 and win64 client.

I you tried also the links to to test the wallet receve some test byteballs and buy pizza.
DO they work.

Your problem looks similar to mine.
Please check this post:

or this:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1608859.msg17230736#msg17230736

Maybe this could help you.
I was neither able to open the links on my desktop computer until i have done the last thing described here.

Now the worst part will be to find someone willing to borrow me some BTC before 25th of the month.
I hope i will manage this too before is to late Lips sealed

Just an idea, you don't have to actually borrow, just convince them to sign your BB address, but don't tell them what for!

I had this idea too Wink and  I have  tried to convince someone already, unfortunately without success so far Cry
570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 19, 2016, 04:14:38 PM

Please use nwjs v0.14.7 and node v5.12 (they match).  You can use nvm to have multiple versions of node at the same time.
After you rebuild and start for the first time, it will complain about node_sqlite3.node again.  Find this file in the neighboring directory and just copy it to where nwjs tries to find it, it'll work next time.

Hello.

Thanks for the advice.
I managed to reinstall the sqlite3 for the platform before I have read this post.
Anyway it seem to work now. I have synchronized the wallet in less then an hour.

For those who could need it this is the specification of the my environment:

linux 32 bit machine
node.js  v6.9.2
nw.js v0.19.2-linux-ia32

I have executed the following commands:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/byteball/byteball.git
cd byteball

npm install -g bower
npm install -g grunt-cli

npm install jasmine-core --save-dev

bower install
npm install
grunt

sudo npm install nw-gyp -g
npm uninstall sqlite3
npm install sqlite3 --build-from-source --runtime=node-webkit --target_arch=ia32 --target=0.19.2

Now I wanted some bytes to play with but when I click the link on that https://byteball.org/
it cant open it.
link:
Code:

byteball-tn:AxBxXDnPOzE/AxLHmidAjwLPFtQ6dK3k70zM0yKVeDzC@byteball.org/bb-test#0000

or

byteball-tn:AzG28EqBgI9OkDa5yka9gYTqqrfuwt+7mUAUuhaAXLAT@byteball.org/bb-test#0000

or

byteball:A2WMb6JEIrMhxVk+I0gIIW1vmM3ToKoLkNF8TqUV5UvX@byteball.org/bb#0000

I receve a message box with
"Error Loading Extension"
Failed to load extension from: Manifest file is missing or unreadable

Is there a way to opet links byteball-tn: or  byteball: on a desktop machine?

Great, this is also a valid way to build.

To make the links work, please run "grunt desktop" (you might have to edit the Gruntfile.js a little bit to enable 32 bit version) and run Byteball once from ../byteballbuilds.  It will set up the proper protocol handlers for byteball-tn:.

The whole process was a PITA Smiley  but I have managed to make it work. Cool
I hope i will not have to bother you a lot with questions in the future Wink
Thanks for the help.

Is something related to sqlite3. :-/
I had errors during install phase which I have already pasted here in my previous post
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1608859.msg17215344#msg17215344

I have stopped the application and then run
"npm install sqlite3" within the byteball directory

during install or sqlite3 i have received again this output:

nothing helped.
I still have this error of missing module.  Sad

just saw the Skycoin official release thread ! is this the one to follow up ? Is there a release roadmap?
Any news for lang-time follower ? Wink

Hello.

Can you post the link to that thread here?!
Thanks?!

I have installed the nw.js package trough npm globally and run the
Code:
nw .
within the byteball folder.

The window opened but the content is a white page no buttons no any content.
Do I need to wait for some time for something to appear or  this could be some kind of error.

Can you point me where should I look in case of error. which files should I check?

It must be some kind of error.
Right click, then both Inspect page and Inspect background page.  Look for errors in the console.

Thanks.
It seems I can't do any of that. I googled on the internet
I had to install nw sdk version not just nw to use this console within the window.

i have tried to put    "toolbar": true in the package.json under "window" to show toolbar
but this also does do nothing!

can't do f12 neither right mouse button click to view the console or the page source.

I will try to intall this nw sdk and check then whats up with the app.

Linking to my previous post i have installed the sdk version.
From the console it results that it can't load multiple resources(files)

I will try to intall this nw sdk and check then whats up with the app.

is this on a normal exchange yet? or is it still in distribution mode? have we fixed the problem with rich bitcoiners claiming all the coins?

The distribution will be done in multiple rounds.
This will last for several months.
The 1st round will end 25th of December 2016.
I think this is all written in the OP at first page of this thread.
Please check there.

Unfortunately the distribution will remain tied to BTC. :-/
All coins have more or less distribution problems this one is not an exception.
Nothing is perfect

Pity I haven't seen this thread earlier it seem like a very perspective and innovative technology.

Thanks for the info.

I went to the byteball-tn directory within my .config folder to check if i can find something.
Doesn't seam i can find any meaningful info there.

The only file that seems to be change once in a while is "Local State".

here the content from that file:

Hello.

Maybe you could use NEM for your project.

You have here the API documentation available:

http://bob.nem.ninja/docs/
https://www.nem.io/ncc/index.html

I hope this can be usefully to you.

Bye.

What a contentious issue everyone!  And glad that there are so many interested bodies in learning more about protecting one's privacy and freedom of choice.

As mentioned by many other folks, the larger issue at hand is the freedom of choice to do what one wants with their employment earnings.  You can invest in almost anything in today's day and age, and try and earn a profit on it, including Tickle Me Elmo's Dolls, Barbie Dolls, and even Postage Stamps, Hockey Cards, or whatever you want.  The main idea is that you get to choose what you want to buy and collect without having people breathing down your neck about your own particular purchasing styles.

The problem with Crypto is that it got a bad rep early on by people who abused the system, but this also happens in the regular commercial banking industry, where big banks are continuously being caught in white-collar crime and fraud activities, so the issue is really a moot point.

Have you heard about Alcurex exchange?

It is no AML/KYC and links to Poloniex, Bittrex, and offers high liquidity trading for US residents, and people all over the world.

alcurex works for me

The system is made so that it can be abused but only  by some people not all.
Usually when banks or such institutions are found to be guilty of something they find scapegoats to sacrifice.
The master minds are always safe. Is like in politics when some minister is found guilty of something
they resign or is "replaced" but usually after some time they end up on another function (position) again.

I do not think that any AML/KYC can save us from anything its just another form of control of the masses so that the "elite" can
stay safe in position of power.

Regarding the exchange I never heard of it.
It don't see there any option (information) how to deposit USD or EUR therefore they don't ask for any AML/KYC data if
a customer does not use any FIAT currency.

In their terms this this is clearly written that they could ask  AML/KYC data if USD or EUR is used by the customer.
