61  Other / Meta / Re: why there is no notification of at least 3 days for new rules on: September 17, 2018, 10:28:35 AM
there is no notification 3 days before demoted to newbie my rank JM

I don't know of any other cases where rank has been demoted, but you were likely punished for some behaviour.

I don't know where did you get such a specific number of 3 days for notifications, but on this forum there are rarely any notifications before something happens. Very often decisions are retroactive.

63  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 16, 2018, 03:45:52 PM
My gf is pretty angry at me regarding bitcoin to be honest. If I’d cashed out at the ATH I’d have become a millionaire. At the current prices with my HODLED stash, I’m not.

She keeps telling me ‘bitcoin is finished, it must be over, you should have cashed out, we’ll never get another chance like that’.

It’s times like this I look at different charts from the past that show % drops from ATH’s & then look at the subsequent recoveries & new ATH’s that makes me smile & know everything will be ok.

Look out for 6-12 months after the next halving, that’s when I believe we will be wealthy bulls Cheesy

Tell her your in it for the movement, not for the money.
You aren't here to get rich, but to make a difference.

She'll stop bothering you and might even respect you for it.

Accept, are you OK with full member rates ?

And for others, thank for applying but decline.

I worked my ass off to get 150 merit to become a Senior, but I don't have much of choice.
I don't like these other campaigns, so I will take what I can get.

I will be a lot better motivated if I get good rates.

Ima li neko da mi posudi 17€ btc ?
Vracam naravno uz kamatu ...

Nikad ne treba pozamljivati random anonimnim ljudima na Internetu.
Bukvalno si juce napravio nalog.
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: con a ransomeware maker on: September 16, 2018, 02:21:57 PM
A lot of people here will instruct you to not pay the ransom.
I disagree, if you don't have a choice. If the data is worth to you more than double the amount that you will pay for example, you might want to risk it and pay the ransom.

In future please be more careful and for god's sake, don't run Windows on important systems.
Especially not outdated versions like Windows XP.

Best you can do is inform yourself more about the specific ransomware that you got infected with and inform us so we can try to help you.
Do not come here expecting that you will get out of this without paying for your mistake.

Anything interesting in the debug.log file?

You should share the log here if there is anything suspicious about it.
Otherwise it would be a very weird problem.
68  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: why sync not continue after 81% (446128 blocks height) #598 on: September 16, 2018, 12:46:30 PM
Could be that your CPU is very slow.
Bitcoin Core, for example, has hard coded hash value of a block at certain height that it assumes is valid, so it doesn't need to verify the transactions up to that point. This value changes with each version.

You might have just hit that limit and your CPU is clogging up now, since it started to verify it.
That could be the case with some really old or weak CPUs, so check your CPU performance with a Task Manager.

I am leaving now.
10 weeks is really enough.
71  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What is school for? on: September 12, 2018, 10:52:20 AM
ideally education is for acknowledgement of your understanding of the subject.
In practice it is rarely valid, a lot of people learn something just for the test to forget it afterwards.
So it is possible that eventually, due to imperfections of the system, people started accepting it as a proof of patience and discipline that is often wanted by conventional employers that want you to listen them and follow their directions as a superior.

Educational systems haven't been about actual education for a long time.
Most can learn whatever they want by themselves whenever they need it.
There is no need to take tests in order to learn something, but these tests and scores are what defines education in schools.
School does not exist for the knowledge, but for acknowledgement instead.
72  Other / Politics & Society / Re: We need more moral education on: September 12, 2018, 10:30:07 AM
Moral education is not about train people to obedient, but more of respect the culture and how to behave in society, it got nothing to do with scientific things and you won't find any moral education in scientific book

And if the culture is to listen to the government officials then what do you do?

I think anything that makes any sense has to do with science. Maybe for a lot of people moral values aren't something that they make a lot of sense of, but for me it is very clear and simple that honesty and good intentions are crucial for almost any life goal that most of us have.

Financial troubles with the business I would assume.
Hoping that paying the staff is a priority.
74  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: A 9 bitcoin coin (apparently) on: September 12, 2018, 10:18:27 AM
0 means there's no interest. You can't buy or sell coins on exchanges for zero.

I can honestly say I have no idea what you mean...

The link's yobit, what's your problem with them?

Well if there is no interest and they are worth zero. You could buy it from someone in person (if exchanges prohibit trading for 0) and simply sell it for whatever price you want. As long as you can acquire large sums of it, you can manipulate the price to whatever you want.

PS: I don't click on any links I don't have to. I wouldn't click on a facebook link if you posted it.
75  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Brazil Presidential Candidate Jair Bolsonaro Is Stabbed on: September 12, 2018, 10:12:51 AM
You are right, I spoke too soon without fully understanding the situation.
It is not about him personally, but about the context.

I would still have hard time believing anyone's intention, but since this seems like just a symptom of a bigger and wider issue, I will not make any rush judgements.
76  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What are the steps to take to publish the solution for blockchain scaling? on: September 12, 2018, 10:06:53 AM
This claim has is just one of the pieces of unsupported nonsense pumped out by paid shills, it's so sad that so many people have just accepted it because of the number of sock accounts that have constantly repeated it. Sad

Well this is very surprising to me.
If it wasn't for stopping the blockchain of getting too big, why was it implemented then?
77  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Brazil Presidential Candidate Jair Bolsonaro Is Stabbed on: September 09, 2018, 11:11:37 AM
I don't care about his political views, but I am never 'very sad' when a politician gets hurt.

Keep in mind that he still almost certainly took money from big companies in return to look after their interests when he is in power.
I am not saying it still isn't a bad thing to hurt someone, but it isn't really a tragedy, in my opinion.
78  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: A 9 bitcoin coin (apparently) on: September 09, 2018, 11:05:07 AM
I don't like clicking on the links, but if it was worth literally 0, than that answers your question on who has the money to do it.
Literally everyone.

You just need to buy all the coins for 0 and offer to sell them not bellow 9 BTC each.
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: strange bitcoind reindex and txindex on: September 09, 2018, 11:00:25 AM
Seems like that particular transaction wasn't indexed for some reason.
The configuration should be fine.

Try starting bitcoind with -reindex option to reindex the transactions again.
80  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What are the steps to take to publish the solution for blockchain scaling? on: September 09, 2018, 10:55:01 AM
There was never an issue with figuring out the way to scale a blockchain, there was just a debate on which solution we will implement.
That debate resulted in a fork as people couldn't agree.

I am glad that you have another solution, but this is a 'problem' that even Satoshi gave a simple solution for.
It is a kinda of a virtual problem, not a natural one. The block limit was purposely implemented for spam protection.
So it is very simple if you just want to solve it simplest and quickest way possible, but off-chain solution ended up being followed by most.
