161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet.dat too big on: June 13, 2018, 08:20:15 PM
Try running Bitcoin Core with "-upgradewallet" argument as well, since it appears it is an old wallet.
And as HCP suggested "-zapwallettxes" should reduce the size of the wallet since I doubt that those are private keys that make up that size, after that try restarting the app with a "-rescan" argument to get a correct balance.

It is pretty suspicious though, to have a wallet of that size. If those are wallet transactions that are taking up so much space, you alone would be responsible for 0.5% of the blockchain size.
162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My transactions and Balance Missing after upgrading my wallet on: June 13, 2018, 08:09:23 PM
If your wallet still contains your private keys, you could just run Bitcoin Core wallet with a "-rescan" argument.
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Time locked transactions on: May 30, 2018, 06:00:38 PM
I assume you are referring to nLocktime. It is simply a parameter in every Bitcoin transaction that can be set to zero.
Yes, the nLocktime value means that the transaction can not be added to a block that has a lower block number than the one specified in the nLocktime filed.

Hvala lepo  Grin.
I will try it out today and I will let you know. By the way, I am planning to use it from home (my ISP is Telekom Srbija). If there are some settings I should change, suggestions are welcome

You should check your firewall/antivirus to see if it is maybe blocking the internet connection for your wallet.
You might want to consider switching to Linux if you are using Windows. It is risky to keep your money on an insecure OS, so I always advise anyone who deals with crypto to use Linux.
165  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitsquare.io - The P2P Fiat-Bitcoin Exchange on: May 30, 2018, 05:30:10 PM
Why there is no cash option? All the payment methods I see are centralized/KYC.

There is really no good way for arbitrators to verify that a cash payment has been made, so it is hard to implement.
Maybe in future we will think of something.
166  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Belgian authorities are investigating the killing of two policewomen on: May 30, 2018, 05:27:01 PM
I don't know why people are getting so upset and scared recently.
Life was never safer than it is now. When you consider that there are hundreds of millions people in Europe, you get a picture that these cases are very rare.
Perhaps this is simply because we live in an information era and we can get a lot of information about any bad thing that happens in the world in real time.

Yeah, policeman get killed. It is dangerous job. They kill and get killed, it is a brutal nature of their job.
167  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Mandatory Rules for all Cryptocurrency Communities on: May 30, 2018, 05:12:34 PM
People should be free to transact value whenever they want and however they want.
These crimes should be punished when they are caught in the real world and put in jail, not to abuse their value transfer system to punish them.
168  Other / Off-topic / Re: What kind of Art medium do you like most? Why? on: May 30, 2018, 05:03:16 PM
Using a pen is by far the simplest and cleanest.
Whenever I feel like creating some art, I draw using a pencil or a pen. I don't care much about colors, so that is perfect for me.
Though I would like to try graffiti one day.
169  Economy / Services / Re: ★☆★ 777Coin Signature Campaign ★☆★ (Member-Hero Accepted) on: May 30, 2018, 04:52:11 PM
There is always a limit to how much trust this campaign gained over the years.
This is subjective, but I would say that 2 months without a payment is getting close to that limit.

It is not surprising for people to get uneasy when they need to think about if they should've joined another campaign 2 months ago.
Not to mention that the rates of this campaign are relatively low for past few months, since they were decreased when the price was rising.

This users just bumped a post from last year that has very little to do with the discussion, just so he can advertise the project.
He seems to be doing this in all of his posts.

“Report to moderator”

Already did. Just making sure that the moderator doesn't just delete his latest post, but actually addresses this issue on a user level.
171  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A lot of people seem to hate the US without knowing anything about it on: May 24, 2018, 05:52:31 PM
The United States is very kind to its citizens, and you can see the President of the United States personally greet three Korean American hostages released by north Korea back to the United States at 3:00 a.m. local time!

This is the United States, as long as you are an American citizen, the United States will defend your rights!

Sure, they will protect you as long as you pay them their protection money in form of taxes.
They are great to their citizens when they are paying them taxes, but they will just about kill anyone in other countries.
Since people from other countries don't pay them taxes, they don't care about their lives.

It is weird how governments have so much in common with organized crime.
So much so, that I would claim that there is no real difference. Government is just really big organized mafia.

173  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Criminals in South Africa wants bitcoins on: May 24, 2018, 05:29:47 PM
It is harder to trace cash than Bitcoin. I assume criminals still prefer cash, if they are smart.
I guess the benefit of Bitcoin for criminals is that they don't need to physically show up to pick up money.
Although it is harder to cash in those bitcoins later without compromising your identity,

To be honest, there are smarter ways to do this.
I would assume professional criminals will always prefer cash, since they can send somebody to pick up money for them, but it is hard to say.

There are benefits both for cash and for Bitcoin, when it comes to privacy. It is hard to say what is a preferable way for criminals in general.
174  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA Verses Russia-Military power on: May 24, 2018, 05:17:16 PM
After Putin harnessed Crimea from Ukraine, and it remains with him till date, nothing happened just only sanctions by the west. So am asking the this question: Should Russia take US head on in war battle, assuming the NATO and various allies backed off from the war, who will emerge victorious? Remember Russia boasted of Satan 11 nuclear missile that could wipe out France or Texas.

Nobody wins in a nuclear war...
175  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Zimbabwe’s announcement about the use of Crypto. on: May 24, 2018, 05:16:09 PM
Cryptocurrencies have the potential to change some of the world’s poorest countries for the better so why has Zimbabwe’s central bank announced that the use of Cyptocurrency is not allowed in the country? I’ve heard this and don’t completely understand the notion behind it.

Because it is a central bank. Bitcoin literally takes away the entire job of central banks.
Their job is mostly to print money and figure out how much to print.
If you use Bitcoin, there is no printing of money, practically no inflation.
Governments don't like that, they want to be able to tax people in a covert way with inflation.

I guess Zimbabwe's central bank got scared that people will entirely switch to Bitcoin and take away all of their power.
They probably got scarred that people are losing faith in the central bank.

I am not familiar with this however, I am simply stating a reason why governments and central banks in general don't like Bitcoin.
It takes away their hard-gained power.
176  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Blockchain and Data Protection laws on: May 24, 2018, 05:08:18 PM
I don't see any reason why this solution would require a blockchain.
You can create all of this with a P2P network with same benefits, without the costs of using a blockchain.

Seems like many people really want to use blockchain for every problem, but it isn't reasonable to do so.
Blockchain is really useful for really few problems, to be honest. Not ever decentralization needs a blockchain and it is costly to do so.
177  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Missile that downed Flight MH17 was Russian - New Magnitsky Act? on: May 24, 2018, 05:00:57 PM
I rarely think that hostility is a smart answer to problems in life or politics.

Lack of cooperation is fine, if people can't agree to work together under same rules, but hostility never really makes much sense.
In my opinion, if these people were reasonable and mature, they would either try harder to find an agreement with Russia or slowly cut their ties with the country in a least damaging way possible to both sides, probably over a span of couple of decades, maybe centuries.

All of these rash decisions based on anger and fear seem very pathetic and immature to me.
178  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Why has China banned BTC exchanges? Communists. on: May 24, 2018, 04:54:59 PM
I assume that it is all about control.
Bitcoin is very hard to regulate and control, since it was built in such a decentralized and permissionless way.

Governments like to control things, especially communist regimes.
They are centralized by nature and decentralized technologies don't really fit their agenda.

I guess it those exchanges will open up in China again eventually, but I don't think this has much to do with gaining favor.
179  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Does modern civilization is currently progressing or declining? on: May 24, 2018, 04:49:09 PM
Even failure is a progress. Sometimes you need to try something and fail to learn from it.

I doubt there were many things better in the past than they are now. There were more diseases, more wars, more violence.
Life was more physically challenging for most people, since more jobs required physical labor.

These times might be more psychologically stressful now for some people, but worrying about basic needs in the past could be considered even more stressful.
Rarely do people worry about survival these days.
