201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed COIN -Vote for us on exchanges! on: March 12, 2014, 02:52:39 PM
do we just tell the people who bought FAC for BTC to ask the other guy nicely for their BTC back?

Good luck with that.

This one has lost ALL INTEGRITY!

To all those who call for the abandoning of FAC and creation of a new coin. Do you really trust this bunch of amateurs not to screw it a 2nd time?
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed COIN -Vote for us on exchanges! on: March 10, 2014, 10:16:05 AM
my hashrate is not the best but I'm mining too
Thanks man. Anything that can keep the network running is great. Don't mine too much now because the dev isn't online, and distribution won't start until morning..

It sounds to me that DEV did not anticipate the importance - and the lack of - mining.
They started distributing, blockchains were created and no-one solving them. So wallets stopped synching. There was really nothing to synch-up with: blockchains sat there un-solved/unmined.
So - too embarrassed to admit their lack of foresight -  DEV stopped distribution, issued an announcement on the site saying "investigating a synch issue" and then kept silent since.
Things started to move again after some of us (the REAL heroes of the day here) stepped up to the task and started mining. Solo mining was the only thing anyone could do. No pools existed yet until someone (thank you) created one.
DEV should now reward the current miners (list published above) who saved FAC from oblivion. Send 1 Million FACs (a new one-time special issue of FACs) per MH/s contributed to every miner.
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: How to get Faircoin "to the moon" on: March 10, 2014, 04:26:20 AM
Another idea - why don't we create a real company/corp backed by this coin.

There you go... ideas start flowing and soon we will find a way to create demand for FAC in the real world.

As for me, I am doing my part, mining:

when exactly are we getting rich ?
In about a years time, after we promote the shit out of this coin!
I think that the early adopters should all help promote as much as possible too.

I know it's un-ethical, but I'll say it anyway.
In its beginning, what transformed BTC from an unknown imaginary currency to something people talked about was its use in illicit drug trade (the silk road) and its use on child pornography sites.
Now, the operator of the Silk Road (Ross Ulbricht) is sitting in a Federal prison and will be there for a long time. We don't want any involvement in illegal activities.
But how about we promote the use and acceptance of FAC on porn sites to pay membership and content viewing dues? they are not illegal. and no-one will get in trouble.
At least temporarily until it is widely known, accepted and demand is created for it by millions of porn surfers across the globe.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Individual to Individual Faircoin exchange on: March 10, 2014, 12:45:55 AM

Thanks a lot heajin5921  Angry  Now no-one will bite.
Will sacrifice my 1000 FACs: 1 LTC each.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Individual to Individual Faircoin exchange on: March 09, 2014, 11:54:11 PM
Can someone download the wallet and get coins or is it too late?

Sorry you missed the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

hello fair-cointeam - im wondering who the "faircoin team" is comprised of?  is it just you?
I too would like to know a bit more about the devs?
Yeah , me to Smiley

They are cousins and relatives of Satoshi Nakamoto. Ask them and they will vigorously deny everything:

Does nobody ever solo mine anymore?  It's even easier to set up than a pool, and brings the diff down just as well.  Plus, if you get a block you get all of it.  So why not just say "generate=true" when you start your wallet?

Good idea. Do I need to start Faircoin-QT with the -server switch as well?
No need for CGMiner, or BFGmIner?
In my faircoin.conf file, I have
Gen=1
Isn't that the same as generate=true?
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed COIN -Vote for us on exchanges! on: March 09, 2014, 03:50:38 PM
No one is going to get their coins if no one mines.

Please publish mining pool info (URL, port number) and I will put one of my GPUs on it right now.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed COIN -Vote for us on exchanges! on: March 09, 2014, 03:44:26 PM
Anyone receive any coins yet?  Huh

Not yet!
Waiting for an announcement from FAC Dev:
OK thanks everyone for participating. There will be no distribution of the made-up coin. It was all a hoax. Have a nice day Grin Grin

Other than that, look at the Visits Stats:
China                17,969     31.63%
United States      8,775     15.45%
If FAC gets traded on a CHINESE exchange, count on them to drive it up. Otherwise, I stick by my prediction it will not pass the phase of vaporcoin.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed COIN -Get your fair share - NOW on: March 09, 2014, 08:24:10 AM
The most coins go to the hackers who can hide their real ips, run scripts, and rake in hundreds of shares each.
Fuck you.
I had to stare at the screen the entire time (24h+) and run the thing manually

As a long-time watcher of BTC, I'd like to say that GREED motivates cryptocurrency. It is what sent BTC To the sky. Today BTC sells for over US$640 on exchanges... not bad for an imaginary currency invented by an anonymous hacker who is not willing to reveal his true identity!
But then... "GREED is GOOD". It's what motivates us all to improve our lives.

The way I see it, if FAC takes off and builds-up monetary value, then illiki23 and Co. will be handsomly rewarded for their "hard work"
If - on the other hand - it withers and dies (like NMC), then illiki23 wasted 24 hours of his life.
I predict the latter. But then again, that's what I had predicted for BTC, and I have been wrong so far.

I haven't read the entire thread, so I do not know much, but can someone answer a couple of questions I have:
There exist now 50 Million FACs, they were pre-mined.
Is that the top limit? No more will ever exist? Or can more be generated by mining?
If I understand correctly, the 50 Million will now be distributed among all registrants. Do we know how many registrants exist?
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Faircoin - the first Fairly distributed coin! on: March 07, 2014, 11:14:50 AM
Yeah umm no this coin will fail...

Just like Namecoin. Not self-sustaining, no revenue, no support. Great ides come and go... if they are not financed by some kind of revenue or public interest, they die.
215  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: March 04, 2014, 05:26:18 AM
DO NOT use 1 cable for both blades, use 1 cable & 1 PCIE connector for each blade!!  Wink
Be sure PSU is at least 500 watts,if overclocking use a 600+ watt PSU...............

Hey Unacceptable,
Good advice. So are you saying using this splitter would be... unacceptable?

216  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: March 04, 2014, 05:04:40 AM
I have entered pool information, worker and password, but miner status shows "section has no values"

I ran into that too. Go to System and "reboot". That solved it for me.
217  Bitcoin / Hardware / Hardware buying advice on: March 04, 2014, 04:59:48 AM
Considered the X3 from black arrow but unconvinced I will get a suitable ROI.
or would I be better off with other hardware ?

I am anxious to read the mining veterans' advice on this.
As far as I can tell, the S1 right now is the least expensive hardware. Direct from bitmain, 1.4 BTC for 180 GH/s, works out to less than $5 per GH/s (at  today's BTC price - which - of course - fluctuates a lot).
Compare that to what's available for IMMEDIATE DELIVERY. I suggest you stay away from "Pre"-ordering.
With the only unit I - so far - have bought from bitmain, I had a good experience. Paid for it Monday evening, received it Friday afternoon. Paying with BTC eliminates the hassle of Paypal and bank wire transfers (and that's the power and beauty of BTC, isn't it?)

If anyone can recommend other hardware as cheap (or even cheaper) available immediately (and so convenient to order online), I - too - would really like to know about it.

I hear 1 TH/s units are coming soon from Chinese makers. Anyone knows anything about those?
218  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Question: Powering each of the 2 blades of the S1 with 2 Molex connectors on: March 03, 2014, 09:55:05 PM
AVOID USING THIS

Loos like everyone agrees NOT To use this. Thank you very much everyone for advice.
219  Bitcoin / Hardware / Question: Powering each of the 2 blades of the S1 with 2 Molex connectors on: March 03, 2014, 06:34:46 PM

Hey you all wire experts who've worked on the S1 power cabling.
This is StarTech.com 6-Inch LP4 to 6 Pin PCI Express Video Card Power Cable Adapter (LP4PCIEXADAP)
It sells for only $2.11 on Amazon
Can I use it to connect the 6-pin PCI-e power connector on one of the S1 blades to two 4-pin Molex connectors coming from the PSU?
I remember reading somewhere that the Molex power connectors do not carry as much power (or wattage) as the PCI-e connectors?
But I am thinking all yellow wires carry 12 volts, so this should work, unless the wires over-heat?
Any thoughts? help? Thanks!
