421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All our base are belong to Chinese on: March 30, 2014, 10:33:04 PM

People on this side of the pond are definitely loading up too.

When this thing gets back up to 800+ where it should be at...
422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bye Bye Bitcoin..... Really??? on: March 30, 2014, 07:47:17 PM
Still hold my bitcoins , but i am panicked now. I paid $800 per bitcoin. Cry

Hold the line.  Noone is buying into the sell orders of the Chinese holders.
423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: March 30, 2014, 07:06:53 PM
Terk: Ignore the haters.  Don't let the irrational minority influence what you already know is best for the majority.  CleverMining didn't grow to 33GHs+ because of poor decision-making on your end.  Remember that.

Comeonalready:  You are a grade A hypocrite.  How do you know what the majority of miners want.  You say Terk should follow your suggestions as if you speak from a position of knowledge about "what the majority of miners want."  But you don't know "what the majority of miners want" because you aren't the majority.  You are one single sad complaining voice.
424  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is the IRS ruling that bad really? on: March 30, 2014, 06:28:13 PM
@Superdork:

The righteous cause would be then reforming the system (voting out the bad apples / repealing/rewriting tax code / removing/remodeling abusive institutions) so that taxation once again is married to representation, yes?

If i pay taxes like a "good citizen" and uphold my particular social contract obligations (re: paying taxes), then the government should hold up their end of the deal too by applying those taxes to the duties/services as outlined in the Constitution.

Unfortunately......there is such amount of taxation without representation that if i didn't risk going to jail for tax evasion i likely wouldn't agree to pay any taxes until things changed.

Nice.

Even nicer if this thread is maintained!

Folks,
Your standard warning about new exchanges applies here -> Tread with caution.
427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI R9 280x Battlefield Edition can't go over 680Kh/s on: March 30, 2014, 05:35:37 PM
I would think nothing.

You should have 2 bioses on that card anyhow...just flash new bios on the second bios chip.

Before you do any sort of flashing, read this thread: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=12369.0
428  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is the IRS ruling that bad really? on: March 30, 2014, 05:33:20 PM
Is anyone really going to pay taxes on bitcoin? Really?

Maybe a few big time investors, but normal people shouldn't be affected by this at all. How hard is it to shuffle your coins around a bit or sell them anonymously for cash?

Anyone paying taxes is choosing to do so. And I have my doubts as to how many bitcoin users will choose to pay taxes.

I don't go to jail over anything...unless it is a righteous cause.

Tax evasion is not a righteous cause.
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI R9 280x Battlefield Edition can't go over 680Kh/s on: March 30, 2014, 05:29:31 PM
Either way, i at one point had a setup with your exact cards and if i was even a mhz outside of that sweet spot of 1040-1070 on the core i would lose serious hash.

The rest of your config is good.   You may want to look into flashing a more optimized bios.
430  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is the IRS ruling that bad really? on: March 30, 2014, 03:47:04 PM
This ruling is good.

Now i know how what i need to do to make my mining business legit.

431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bye Bye Bitcoin..... Really??? on: March 30, 2014, 03:45:13 PM
There is gonna be one heck of a bump on 4/16.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2015 the end of normal scrypt mining with GPU's? on: March 29, 2014, 04:57:20 PM
Vanilla Scrypt is 3 years old.

Out with the old, in with the new.
433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buffet Right, Altcoins=Scam!!! on: March 29, 2014, 04:32:09 PM
Buffet only invests in pacified, anti-competitive, or disruption-hostile markets/sectors so that he can play his long-term game (which is smart).  The lack of volatility in these types of markets/sectors gives Buffet enough time to ROI his investments at the worst and make consistently good returns that amount to big bucks at the best.

Quote
1. The financial sector

During the late-2000s crisis, Buffett bet big on the U.S. financial sector — really, really big. When the financial markets seized, Buffett made white knight investments in banks like Goldman Sachs (GS) and Bank of America (BAC) as well as in financial institutions like GE Capital (GE) to the tune of $24 billion. He traded them cash for preferred stock, which typically paid enormous dividends, as well as purchased warrants for common stock.

Buffett's position in the financial industry didn't begin with the crisis, though. Berkshire first took a position in Wells Fargo (WFC) in 1990, and that position has since grown to be the company's largest holding. When asked about his stance on the financial industry, Buffett's response is generally characteristically straightforward.

"The banks will not get this country in trouble," Buffett told Bloomberg's Betty Liu early in 2013. "I guarantee it. The capital ratios are huge, the excesses on the asset side have been largely cleared out." At the time, Buffett had multibillion-dollar investments in four of the seven largest U.S. lenders by assets. "Our banking system is in the best shape in recent memory," Buffett told Bloomberg.

Taking a big bet on individual banks can be risky, but if you believe the industry as a whole is positioned for outsized returns then you can make that bet through ETFs like the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF), which actually owns a sizable portion of Berkshire stock and runs an expense ration of 0.18%.

The Bitcoin protocol technology and its derivatives are about to obliterate Buffet's cash-cow machine.

Either way, the man is 83 years old and about to heel over.  He will most likely take most of his secrets to the grave with him.  Greedy people are like that.

435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin 2.0 - "The internet of money" (Bloomberg technical phrase) on: March 29, 2014, 02:10:30 PM
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-03-28/bitcoin-2-0-shows-technology-evolving-beyond-use-as-money.html

Well well well, the media appears to be catching on.

Never thought i'd be linking a popular media outlet article regarding bitcoin, but they do a pretty decent job of highlighting Bitcoin protocol technology potential and just how fundamentally disruptive it is to the banking establishment profit model.

No wonder Warren Buffet hates bitcoin.  He has always made his money investing in the most pacified sectors he can find....and the Bitcoin protocol is about to completely obliterate the very base of his profit machine!

436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is titan kncminer profitable? on: March 29, 2014, 11:38:51 AM
All it takes are devs to spend a day or 2 making their coins ASIC hostile...and there are always enterprising minds out there ready to do that.

GPUs may/do not ROI nearly as quickly and they sure are a pain to deal with, but they definitely retain innate value far better.

If i learned anything from the bitcoin ASIC scene when Scrypt hit, it was that one does not want to be caught with a device that is unable to interface with the shifting landscape of profitability.

You would most likely make your money back on a Titan, but past that...

KGW/DGW/et all difficulty schemes that correct difficulty after each block are the death of ASIC profitability.
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2015 the end of normal scrypt mining with GPU's? on: March 29, 2014, 11:27:58 AM
If i wasn't completely out of room to add more rigs, i would totally build another 7950 rig.

5 7950s for ~$1250? Sign me up!
438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2015 the end of normal scrypt mining with GPU's? on: March 29, 2014, 03:21:36 AM
Some mighty cheap 7950s on Fleabay!

Now is not the time to be buying one trick ponies when the game is changing.
439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Impending doom... how close are you to turning off your rigs? on: March 28, 2014, 11:50:54 AM
Only .105c / kwh on my end.  It's still quite profitable to mine...and all my hardware is paid off and has been paid off since December thanks to that altcoin explosion.  In fact, given all the cheap 7950s i see on Ebay (MSI TF3s for $200!) i will be expanding even.  Grin

I don't see the cup half-empty on this one, but rather the other way around.

BTC will weather the reactionary effects of the world's governments because the bitcoin protocol is quite excellent for increasing the liquidity of money movement around the globe.  In the same way that the internet revolutionized communication, so will digital value transmitters revolutionize the money transmitting process by removing the croonie middlemen who artificially inflate / slow down that process.

Bitcoin may be the first, but it won't be the last...and that is why it is a mistake to sell your farms off!
440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Titan update from KNC <- 250mh / 800-1000 watts on: March 27, 2014, 03:02:22 PM
A 2-3 quarters left for GPU miners.

Umm.....no.  In fact, in another 2-3 quarters GPUs will shine yet again.

You ASIC people will be the ones who get screwed in the long run.  Have fun with another arms race and resulting struggle to make ROI.

We'll just go to a variation of Scrypt or not-Scrypt-at-all.  Plenty of those types of coins.

Have fun  Grin
