61  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: So was Monarch development the cause for BFL being so slow ordering 65nm parts? on: October 28, 2013, 12:37:34 PM
Well...you can get one of these for 3k off ebay right now.  But would you? Even if they said it ships in Jan/Feb?

I thought eBay forbids selling preorders. If you spot such an auction, report it to eBay.
62  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Did BFL mine with my unit for 3 weeks before shipping it to me? on: October 28, 2013, 12:32:52 PM
Yeah, if I posted the kind of crap you do, I'd want to remain anonymous, too!
<more insults and the like>

You're way over the line. Do you even understand your behaviour is even way outside of what is considered rude by most standards?

This forum can't be rid of you too soon. You've poisoned the atmosphere with your trolling and still continue to do so with your personal attacks, lying, defrauding and stirring unrest. Seems the only reason you're still allowed to post is because you buy adspace here. Too bad the admin likes money more than integrity.

65  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Where are the new Custom Hardware vendors? on: October 26, 2013, 12:27:35 PM
I think Avalon is working on something big

YiFuck's ego chi, maybe?

Anyway, I'm having the same thoughts that the next few months will decide which ASIC companies will be left standing. The race to the bottom has already started and soon we'll see how low $/GH will go.

Maybe we won't see so much "next gen" ASICs but just more energy-efficient respins of older designs. There seems to be a sweet spot between the 130-110 nm and 20-28 nm designs that is efficient enough, and cheap enough to make... just stick more of the chips on the same PCB, and they might still be cheaper to churn out en masse than the ones made with 20-28 nm process.

The next half year should prove to be interesting.
66  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Where are the new Custom Hardware vendors? on: October 25, 2013, 08:16:35 PM
Surprise!  It actually requires skill, commitment and dedication to create a new product and bring it to market.

That explains then why BFL is the laughing stock of the ASIC market Grin

How's the PayPal refunds going btw?

@cryptx Any plan for future boards sale again?

I would be interested too, albeit at a discounted price  Wink

Would almost have to be less than 40% of price this time to be attractive at all, I'd say...

If the price reduces by 40%, then you'll have at least 40% more buyers.  You can't win either way.  Too many miners involved now fighting for fewer coins.

If the price doesn't offer at least breakeven at slightly pessimistic estimates, I'll just skip it. If someone doesn't do their math and buys regardless, that's not my loss. *shrug*

Seriously, I don't think we'll have too many suckers left with any spare cash/bitcoins soon.

The vendors will just have to accept that they're in the race to the bottom, and make less profit than they used to in the first batch(es).

just got my stuff - 6 boards
puted it together
and connected with 1 usb cabel and a CAN cable
What need i do to run them all, just one unit works

CAN bus terminated at both ends with jumpers?

Anyone have a problem with the Bitburner boards crashing raspberry pis?
[...]
I'm at a loss as what is left to try. Anybody have any other suggestions or seen this error before?

If you have changed the Raspis and SDcards, the only remaining problem source is power. Please check the Pi's power supply is ok.

Oh, another possibility is that the SDcard connector pins could be slightly bent too low and won't make good contact. This is very apparent with certain SDcards that are slightly thinner than others, and will work most of the time, but cause intermittent problems. So, check the SDcard connector pins too.

And Cats. In Boxes

Your cat looks quite a lot like mine :O

72  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitburner Fury - Hashrate Protection on: October 19, 2013, 07:27:49 PM
Yes, both boards have terminator jumpers on the J7 and J8 jumpers.

Make sure you have the jumpers in the correct orientation too. They won't work if you have them sideways.
73  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitburner Fury - Hashrate Protection on: October 19, 2013, 09:16:44 AM
And performance wise I see he had a few extra gig

The increase was only because I increased the clock freq from 280 to 290, and started cooling the boards directly with cold air. If the temps creep over 50 deg C, hardware errors again increase a lot, making the frequency increase practically cancel out. I haven't ran the boards alone, but maybe I should. Then I could tune each board separately and maybe gain a few GH/s more. Seeing as the CAN-bus connection is still fragile as a glass vase, using separate USB cables might still be "better"...
74  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WTF Avalon? Ship the Chips! on: October 19, 2013, 12:37:58 AM

From the eBay description: "I have purchased these bulk from China and are expecting them within 4 business days. They are in transit with DHL. I test them for 24 hours and will reship them to you."

So it's not YiFuck selling these anymore, but someone who bought these @2.3 BTC or so from the Tradehill trainwreck of an auction, and is reselling now for 7-8 BTC approx.

Oh, and LOL at the "testing for 24 hours"... best mining time, better to squeeze now Tongue

This is with '--avalon-options 115200:64:10:d:290 --bitburner-fury-voltage 1100'. I'm cooling the boards with outside air at 2 deg C currently. HW errors are 4,8%, the lowest I've had them at was 3,3% @280 MHz. However, 290 gives more WU/m (2880 or so vs 2810), so it's still better.

EDIT: at 300, hardware errors rise sharply to over 10%, so it's not worth it without more core voltage, which is impossible without hardware mods.
76  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: YIFU IS AUCTIONNING? on: October 17, 2013, 01:35:52 PM
now the 60mh/s machines are in the yifo onlineshop for 6BTC  Embarrassed
4 module machines are now 12 BTC

no more word about tradehill relationship Wink

far overpriced!

Poor Yifu, he didn't get a fraction of what he expected from tradehill auctions. Wonder how's his chi doing.

Serves that cocksucker right, trying to fleece even now as much as he can from ppl with auction.
77  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: October 17, 2013, 01:28:13 PM
Hello everybody,
today I got my Bitburner. But it seems that it does not work. I connected it with the power supply, but nothing happens. The fan does not move and the leds do not flash. What can I do? Is it corrupted?

Have you connected pin4 (green) of your ATX PSU to ground so the PSU will actually power itself on?
78  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: YIFU IS AUCTIONNING? on: October 17, 2013, 01:29:37 AM
Congrats!

9 of those give more power than a Jupiter for less than half the price. Yey for pre-orders!

9 of those will also have over 5000 watts of hungry power supplies. Hope you live at the north pole.

9 of those will stop making a profit based on power usage around late december / early january when most, if not all, G1 Avalons should be turned off unless BTC price increases.  Oddly, KNC machine will follow that pretty fast.

I'm looking forwards to that, when I can buy nice space heaters for pennies. Even if they don't make their running costs in electricity, they'll convert _some_ of that energy to "money", instead of ordinary space heaters that are just waste heat.
79  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitFury 16 Chip Boards 41.7Gh/s 6.3BTC or $999 on: October 17, 2013, 01:19:49 AM
AS for ROI... same for all those USBs, ASIC Blades etc. You dont see them not selling. If you dont like the price, please feel free to move
on.

Good luck on sales. You'll always catch some people unable to do math Wink

We don't offer investment advice or counsel. We are a hardware provider. Considering the inventory levels of Bitfury available in the United States, we believe that this is a competitive price based on the fact that BFL is always backlogged and other hardware is pre-ordered for delivery several months away. We encourage you to compare ours price with other inventory that is not backlogged and in hand.

When a hardware provider feels the need to defend their pricing, the cause is already lost Wink

Besides, price parity with your competition doesn't matter squat if you all are unprofitable in the end. Look at the latest network difficulty increases, then ask yourselves "for how long can we keep finding the suckers unable to do math".

Thirdly, you're listing your prices in euros too, but import taxes from US to EU will add around 20% to the price.

Fourthly, you're advertising "in hand" products, but... "Board will Ship by Nov 1st or FULL REFUND" and "Im looking at a arrival of ~80% of the boards by next friday, October 25th". So it's not in hand after all...

I know Avalon has burnt a few bridges

Understatement of the year...

... at that price, he must have made a loss IMO...

I might shed a little tear for poor YiFuck.

Nah, I lied.
