1  Economy / Collectibles / Re: First Bitcoin in Space (Casacius Coin) - What to do with it after it comes back? on: August 14, 2022, 07:25:20 AM
I am here to ask the community and get feedback on what to do with this Casacius Coin when it comes back to Earth?

Great project; space, unpeeled cas, athentification by Eliante, what not to like??
Try to get get some kind of media attention to the project, I feel it deserve more than just a thread on a bitcointalk sub section.

Cheers and good luck
2  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Where did all the OG collectors go? on: September 21, 2021, 11:30:04 AM
One thing I've always kind of wondered is where did all the OG collectors go?  We have very few members whom are still active here that were around during the early days of collectibles.  Those who bought Casascius coins and BitBills when they were first released are the type of collectors I'm referring to.  I don't see myself ever losing interest in collectibles completely and just riding off in to the sunset.  I may not be as active as I now am at some point, but I just don't see myself completely being done w/this board and collectibles in general.  Members like Blazed for example.  I dunno, it just seems kind of odd to me that there are probably less than a handful of collectors who were around during the Casascius days who are still active.

I am still lurking in the dark corners of bitcointalk once in a while. I am mostly on closed groups on discord now.
I still have a love for Casascius coins, however trading them is not worth if for me because of the obvious difficulties with shipping.

Cheers ChiBitCTy, see you around, Feel free to PM me if you want to be nostalgic and talk about the good old days.

It's a piece of history!

No doubt about that.
This is a legendary thread!
5  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WoodCollector]Nine Public Coin Collection Completed on: March 29, 2021, 02:54:25 PM
There's an update to the woodcollector saga here:

I'm fairly sure that's our guy. I was going to post it in here but it has names and addresses in it so needs to be Investigations. You should probably shoot him a message on his facebook accounts and see if he's willing to come clean or at least explain some of his behaviour. Doubt he will but it's worth a shot if you're still looking for that other coin  Grin (but I'm almost certain it doesn't exist and it was just some elaborate scam he was pulling).

That is some impressive detective work, maybe you should start working as a private detective  Shocked
There might be a end to this saga after all, I would not in my wildest imagination have thought that he would be found one day.
Some still believe the treasure is real...
6  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you have a Bitcoin exit strategy? on: March 19, 2021, 09:36:48 AM
Hi, just to be clear I'm bullish as hell for the next few months but I think it's generally accepted that this bull run will probably come to an end at some point this year.

I'm wondering if people here are planning on getting out of crypto or significantly reducing your stake at some point this year and if so what your plan is and where you are looking at reinvesting your funds?

Bitcoin IS my exit strategy
7  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Signed & numbered Finnish magazine with Casascius & BLOCKLAND article on: February 19, 2021, 02:43:52 PM
Suomen Kuvalehti (Finland's Picture Magazine) did a 4-page personality profile about me regarding physical bitcoins, BLOCKLAND, etc. for last weeks issue. It is in Finnish, obviously. For anyone interested in collecting that sort of thing, I'm happy to sign copies and send them your way.

The maximum I would do is 21, and I will keep a few of those in any case. $40 should cover the magazine and shipping, prob less if you are in EU. 1 per person.

Is it loaded?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Celsius - The Wallet That Pays You Back on: December 29, 2020, 08:43:00 PM
Celsius has paid out over $8 million in crypto rewards in november, is it really true?? If yes, I think it is profitable to hold this coins Grin

No doubt that the future of crypto offer interest on your savings (something the traditional banks are failing to do).

I am very positive about companies like Celsius, but crypto land is still wild wild west.
Are guys sending thousands of dollars to CEL? And let then administrate your private keys?

How can you sleep well at night? You simple trust the company or you just have big balls?
I would not able to sleep unless I am in full control of my funds/keys.

10  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Original Casascius 1 btc SEALED!!! 2011/2012 From Germany! on: November 02, 2020, 02:24:56 PM
And this is not the "full" list Wink
There are a handful of other addresses that were also used

Not to mention the 2FA stuff and the LTC bar Cheesy
11  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Original Casascius 1 btc SEALED!!! 2011/2012 From Germany! on: November 02, 2020, 09:04:45 AM
Thanks TookDK.

Now I'm just wondering how accurate this site is for keeping accurate counts of each item and has anyone tested it to see if say when a coin of any year and version of these Casascius coins gets peeled that the numbers are reflected in the status section of the site? Here would be an example of some of the more rare versions but I'm curious to know if these numbers listed are accurate for all series and years etc...

Here on this page....

If say 2 5BTC coins (a S1 and a S2 were peeled) and three 10BTC coins and lets say two 25BTC coins (a S1 and a S2 were peeled) would it be reflected properly in this section of the tracker? If nobody knows I can try reaching out to Rusbitcoinuser myself and see if he can explain how he set it up etc....Cheers all!

In that case I don't belive that tracker is entierly acurate.

Eg. a "1C" can both be a 1 BTC or 5 BTC coin, obviously it would be easy for a tracker to determine if its a 1 or 5 by looking at the blockchain, in the same way determine their year, however here is where its inacurate, the year it was funded does not necessarily reflect the actually coin production year (that much is certain).
I am not even sure its possible to make an acurate database, without some degree of manual work (see prefix explanation below).

I am more oldshcool I use:
I have written to Uberbills a few times for error correction, mostly regarding 1 BTC silver/gilt was listed as all-silver, he then corrected it manually in the database.

Ultimately the trackers get their info from:

Quote from: Mike
61,560 addresses are listed.
The first 11,000 belong to series 1 coins with inkjetted holograms with the "CASACIUS" error.
The next 1,000 addresses belong to series 2 coins with windowed holograms.
The next 17,000 addresses also belong to series 2 coins, but also start with a prefix that
suggests how the address might be used.
1C is used in 1BTC, 5BTC coins. Many were also given away with "roll-your-own" coins.
1G is used in gold-plated items including bars and 25BTC coins.
1Au is used for fine gold coins.
1Ag is used for fine silver coins.
The next 9,900 addresses (prefix 12) are for 2013 0.5 BTC coins.
The third character is one of these 33 characters: 123456789ABCDEFGHJKLMNPQRSTUVWXYZ.
There are exactly 300 addresses with each unique third character (33*300=9900)
Production of 0.5BTC coins starts from the beginning of the set (121, 122, 123, etc.)
If the entire set is exhausted, will use 13Z, 13Y, 13X etc as available.
The next 9,900 addresses (prefix 13) are for 2013 1 BTC coins.
The third character is one of these 33 characters: 123456789ABCDEFGHJKLMNPQRSTUVWXYZ.
There are exactly 300 addresses with each unique third character (33*300=9900)
Production of 1BTC coins starts from the beginning of the set (131, 132, 133, etc.)
If the entire set is exhausted, will use 12Z, 12Y, 12X etc as available.
The next 12,760 addresses (prefix 1Ag) are for 2013 fine silver coins.
The fourth character is one of any of the 58 characters legal in a Bitcoin address.
There are exactly 220 addresses with each unique fourth character (58*220=12760).
Production of 1BTC coins starts from the beginning of the set (1Ag1, 1Ag2, 1Ag3, etc.)
  Production of 0.5BTC coins starts from "a" (1Aga, 1Agb, 1Agc, etc.)
Production of 0.1BTC coins starts in reverse from "z" (1Agz, 1Agy, 1Agx, etc.)
If lowercase set near exhausted, may resume 0.5BTC coins from "Z" (1AgZ, 1AgY, etc.)
12  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Original Casascius 1 btc SEALED!!! 2011/2012 From Germany! on: October 29, 2020, 12:22:26 PM
Anyone know why does this say 2012 on Mel's site if this is indeed a 2011 S2 and not a 2012 S2 coin?

Anyone have any ideas? Also has anyone monitored the Casascius Tracking site to see if coins when redeemed get updated to reflect that many less available once some are peeled?
Another way of putting it is can we be sure this site is very accurate and as upto date as possible? Would love to know just for the community's sake as this is a great tool but I want to confirm it's accurate etc,....

I would guess that its because it was funded in 2012.
Funding was in block 189 493 which was a 2012 block.

There are many examples on this, the actually year of production was not always the same as the funding date. Another example is the Cas 2013 "late funded" these bad boys was funded in 2016.
Here is the message from mike for the people interested in historic documents:
13  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Original Casascius 1 btc SEALED!!! 2011/2012 From Germany! on: October 28, 2020, 10:06:34 AM
So these are 2011 coins, but not error coins, so Series II, is that correct? ( Ie Casascius is spelt Casascius and not Casacius on the hologram)

They are actually more rare than the error coins, only 1644 was produced.

However, OP starting price is very optimistic in the current market (no matter who win the election).
14  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] is a SCAM on: October 26, 2020, 10:51:53 AM

The scam page:
is now finally closed down.

That is both good and bad.

I expect they will re-launch under new logo/brand/webpage.

I learned my lession, please dont make the same mistake as me, follow the advice from LoyceV.

I checked the site, and it doesn't offer a Letter of Guarantee. That should be reason enough not to use them. I know only one mixer that has a good reason not to give a LoG (because they give you private keys), any other mixer should provide one.
Unlike a signed message, screenshots can never be conclusive evidence.

I've seen this scam before, and because of the lack of LoG, they can create a smoke screen about phishing. If they'd be honest, they could have prevented any fake scam accusations by providing for a LoG. But they didn't.

They copied the 4 step design from ChipMixer.

Quoting myself:
Others have mentioned it already, but you really need a Letter of Guarantee signed from a Bitcoin address mentioned on your site and archived here on Bitcointalk. That's the only thing someone could use to prove foul play without any doubt.
I'm pretty sure selective scamming was the plan from the start. I'm considering a neutral warning on any new mixer without LoG from now on.

Have a good day out there, and remember to HODL.
15  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] is a SCAM on: September 11, 2020, 12:33:23 PM
I'm using the for a long time because they have the lowest minimum transaction to be mix and right now I'm getting shocked because the minimum deposit must be

0.0044 BTC and the funds I already sent are 0.001864 only and now I experience this.

At the start, I think it looks like a scam now because I don't have enough funds to make an additional deposit but BTC is BTC so I borrow some money just to complete this transaction. I'm glad I got my BTC.
It should probably be the last time you use them or else you will be the next victim. You were lucky because you mixed small amounts of BTC.

OP I insist you report the domain for fraud giving details of how you were scammed. pulled off the same scam tactic, the domain was reported and it was taken down

Well if you insist...  Cheesy
PM send.
16  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] is a SCAM on: September 10, 2020, 11:16:08 AM
Sad to see this OP, I hope the 2.6BTC wasn’t a lot of your stash. There's nothing you can do except help to try & ruin their reputation so they can’t keep doing it to other people.

I will be OK, thank you Smiley however I would rather have donated this money to charity than to some scammer.

Can you start a flag against them?

Go to their profile, click trust, click add flag, then follow the steps for a type 3 flag ——>

Make sure you provide the link to this thread as evidence. Let us know when you’ve done it so we can support tye flag.

I have supported your flag - thanks!

However, it looks like they have abandoned their account in May 2020, so it will probably make little difference.

Thanks to, for removing another article that promoted the scam site
17  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] is a SCAM on: September 10, 2020, 10:43:56 AM

As I also wrote, I did 0.5's with no issues so I did not expect to get scammed, I had a larger amount to mix so it would go too slow with very small batches.
Looking back I am just happy I did not loose more.

What can I say, we all make mistakes - its how we learn from them and how we move on in life that counts.
I have accepted my loss Smiley

However this thread will be kept alive as long as scam site is operating.

18  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] is a SCAM on: September 04, 2020, 03:58:17 PM

Great job! Thanks for the support.
19  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] is a SCAM on: July 28, 2020, 11:01:32 AM
I tried using this website for small amount of transactions and I didn't encounter issues or any problem.

But I guess when it comes to big transactions like this there are so many problems that you encounter, Maybe because of its a good opportunity to scam since its a big amount. I'm not going to use this mixer again.

Yep, I did maybe 40-50 small transaction this year on the scam page - with no problems! I even mixed 0.5 BTC without any problem.
After I mixed 0.5 I really started to trust them - its a clever scam.

Money is lost - but if I can save others from loosing money to them, then will I be happy, so happy to hear you will not use them again  Smiley

Yes looking back it was stupid to mix 2.6 in one go - I was actually about to mix a larger amount, but then I decided to divide it up - at least I was happy about that decision  Cheesy

Shoutout to

They had an article about bitcoin mixers where the scam page was mentioned, they removed them from the article after I made them aware they are scammers, good to see some responsibility.
