341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some People Cannot Stop The Urge To Sports Betting And Gamble Even In Pandemic on: May 12, 2020, 02:05:45 AM
A gambler will always find a way and means to gamble, here in our country you cannot stop some gamblers from gambling they will always find ways, our government is giving a dole out and implementing amelioration to those people who are badly in need of money, but unfortunately, there are people who receive dole out from the government and receiver of amelioration, gamble the money they received and bet cockfighting and card games, so many of these people are caught and reported on the media.

You really cannot gambler they always find a way even in the worst-case situation like the pandemic, how about in your country do you have some people who cannot stopped to gamble even when your country is in lockdown

I don't know anything about the casino goer people most of it all of it are closed even in the no infected, zero cases areas. Anyway going back, the traditional gambling here in my country, is having native chickens fight or cockfight matches and crowd can place bets on which chicken would win (it was called here as sabong), it is now temporarily illegal here to operate. And havin' it missin' so badly by some people, there were some matches held secretly in various location. It is funny that, here in my residence a group of around 6-7 people got busted, and they got detained, heavily fined, and the worst thing on top if all is that, their chickens had been confiscated and cooked to be served for policemen and some frontliners. That must be hurt a lot, losing their chickens and having it cooked right away rather than getting caught, and having them heavily fined.

Sabong here, is more like a culture. And it is the most favorite game by elderly here. Well, there were still some busted cases here but it ain't have much of an impact, you know card games and such.

Recent news from a facebook page NBA Buzz. Kai Sotto just signed into NBA G-League pro program, and he's the very first international player to do it so. Meaning he's the first person born outside the America who did it.

As a supporter, I like what he did. Not trying to be sort of an analytics here but college basketball in US is entirely for an exposure of American guys. He can still be draft in NBA, either way, he just need to improved and develop his way out. So pursuing his career in G League is, IMO not a bad decision. He's making some money now while developing his skills with NBA caliber guys 'cause G League players is more skilled, tough, and physical than college dudes. Unlike Kobe Paras, who pursue college basketball and had benched was really unfortunate. Maybe Kai, and his family saw it coming though media have him too much hyped.

To add, Kai would get tagged with Jalen Green in a new team. This indicates that he might have a lot of time playing on court with a talented and potential number 1 pick player for 2021 NBA draft, and more young fellas. You know, kind of young guys bringing up the fire for a new team.

I admire Kai Sotto for his dedication go overseas and pursue his becoming the first pure pinoy to draft in NBA. Do you guys think it was a good decision for him? Instead of pursuing college then getting in the line up for future draft picks?

343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayor Of Las Vegas wants the whole city open, including casinos and stadiums on: May 11, 2020, 09:45:43 AM
it will only put people at risk if they do that, they don't know what this virus is capable of doing, maybe they are being pressure by the establishment since they are paying taxes, i suggest they consider it before giving an order to reopen, if that happens, many people will die, and they will eventually suffer a big blow , and might lost bigger than before, this is not a joke many people die because of this pandemic, they should think about it.

It still depends, the risk depends on accurate count of numbers of infected, even though we know the risk of spreading the virus, we also know that the main business running in Vegas are casinos and stadiums, their economy will suffer if they don't open as there might be no alternative option to gain income aside from these two. But if they think they can handle the number of cases and they know they have already secured the virus, I think they have the right to open up these establishments again and put more precautionary measures and increase sanitation.

I just look at Las Vegas virus statistics, and they recently passed 6k mark of total confirmed cases having a total of 306 deaths, FYI. I can't see the total number of recoveries in the said place hence I can't say drastically whether that such place is worthy of allowing businesses to reoperate plus I am not any of an authority to decide it, it is for the sake of discussion lol.

Well, anyway going back, Nevada governernor, had mentioned that there will be a reopening of non-eseential businesses on May 9, on the other hand this will turn out to be a sort of a test, evaluation of its impact, and decisions whether they should remain prohibited on opening or just temporarily open for public would have on the latter. Still health matters though. In addition this kind of thing risky decision of an authorities ain't happening in Las Vegas alone, it is just that public needs to have such businesses be open, at least. And oh... they are limiting people to accomodate at 50% capacity while maintaining social distancing. So, the thing that is worriesome here, is that, are citizens disciplined to follow guidelines here? 'Cause if they are not, then, there's no reason on imposing those rules, and in effect they have to remain shutdown so there will be no additional disturbance for health workers. You can see businesses that would be allowed to open here.
344  Economy / Gambling / Re: My urge to go to land base casino in this lock down and how I fight it. on: May 10, 2020, 03:02:11 PM
Both 1 and 4 the most beneficial, IMO, and it must be done by everyone here. Number 3 seemed so tough to do, I can't even think of myself without being distracted by anyone I am with or by the urge of picking up my phone, in other words I am always preoccupied by something, so it is a good thing for ya.

Anyway, in my case, tbh I ain't a typical land base casino goer but I like being there, I mean, the ambiance, the excitement, the vibe is entirely different than playing it online, and it hooks me. Well, anyway, I love sports betting, so with today's environment having sports being highly discourage to resume the game specifically the NBA league, I find playin' with my brother, sometimes with my cousins if they have spare time(cause they are front liners), the video game version of it with a bet on the line or some consequences, was kind of exciting. I just saved myself from the moment of missin' watching the game live and upto betting, it was really a great opportunity of mine that I can treasure in this problematic time. Try it guys, it may not be the same as the real one you do, but at least it can cover up your inner desire or more over your typical routine on gambling.
345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: May 10, 2020, 09:44:11 AM
legendary NBA center Shaquille O'Neal says league leadership should cancel current nba season and prepare new nby season.
He believes that player safety is the most important.
Also, the disruption of the competition has disrupted everything and many players have fallen out of the competitive rhythm so the continuation of the competition could result in unexpected results.
Source: https://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/shaq-treba-otkazati-nba-sezonu-sto-ako-pobijedi-netko-tko-nije-trebao/2181759.aspx

With around 17-20 games remainig to finish the season, and for the playoffs to start may conclude over a couple of weeks/months. They can still have breaks after, till new season starts. So resetting it, would be a total waste of an effort for those teams, players and the entire organization on attaining their current spot. It ain't a problem to reset such season if the league haven't reach the half of total games a season has but this? Is kind of a thing that should not be approved, not even considering, IMO.

Talk about rhythm and so whatever it is. They can get it back with the remaining games plus an extensive practice but to lose their current record specially those in top list, and closest to clinching the playoffs is kind of a big deal.

I think Clarkson's contract will expire this year, and with the way he played with the Jazz, I think a lot of team will be going for him, one of them might be the Lakers as they really need a good 2nd unit and Clarkson can lead that 2nd unit and give some explosion while James and Davis are resting.

He might be going nowhere except Jazz. He did better in his start though so I don't think Jazz with let that man go easily. Clarkson is kind of a player who's reliable off the bench. He is an asset, and with Conley playing rough a lot lately, he might switch off to Clarkson as a bench player, who knows he might get the spot for a starting line up. In addition, AFAIK, Clarkson is a candidate back then for NBA Sixth Man Of The Year.
346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: May 10, 2020, 07:11:44 AM
That's basketball, no one stays forever in a team, if he is not as effective as expected, the team will look for a replace or probably to trade a player to get a player that they think will help to improve the team.

Kuzma's minutes have dropped and so his stats. maybe because he was injured and he is still finding a way to get back to normal or his old self
but the stats would never lie.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/k/kuzmaky01.html

Good point.
Although there will be teams that would like Kuzma.
Yeah, I might take him in exchange of a role player.
He is young and can still be forged to a better player. Even a star someday. He have the height and good shooting percentage. Just lacking in strength and experience.

Look at Clarkson, thrown into different teams but still growing. Hard work pays off.

Definitely, man. Problem here is that fans are taking the game as important as their feelings, well not bad for loving the player but the game ain't kind of personal bonds, he should play what the team needs otherwise doors are widely open for a deserving spots, might be harsh at some point but it is what it is. And if so, if Kuz can't play what he supposed to do, and barely contribute to the team objectives anymore then he must be send out in exchange of a player that can fill in what the team lacks off, it is for the good after all. And the boy might improved to his new team. Less drama, more chances of improving.
347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Celebrities Will Have Seat in Poker Tournament for Covid-19 Charity on: May 09, 2020, 03:48:56 PM
Poker tournament for a good cause is really great idea I just wish it will continue regardless if there is a pandemic or not. Celebrities playing poker, ain't against the project but the celebrities if they really want to help then they can even make charitable works through their own ways and not only through a poker tournament. The project will only serve as an advertisement promoting poker that will entice everyone to play it with them since celebrities do.
Perhaps, they did it already, and this might be another form of helping out. It is somehow alike of what NBA organization did then to help charities although they can give it directly without any kind of gimmick. Well it was sort of same story above they did it through a mini-tourney (NBA2k20) and the winner would've the chance to choose which charity will benefit the prizepool. Anyway going back, it maybe an odd gesture of 'em but still, it is a good footstep, it can lead in to some branches of connection to whoever want to provide help as well and it can pique the interest of gamblers (at least once for a while, they can bet for the good, so what's there to lose). Lastly, this must be encourage, I think, or people needs to think of any humanly possible way to reach, and lend a hand to the needy even though it's uncommon.
348  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: May 09, 2020, 10:19:43 AM
For sure it will that's why we cannot see any games running right now and if they insist to continue this still the president will not allow since he know how dangerous this plan is, We know our president will not let any gatherings to happen so we should really expect anything back to normal once this vaccine will became available.

There are potential came out already and I think we are near to have a cure and provably we will have that in next following months.
Definitely, worst is that they might get fined for insisting on resuming the league although the President's decision were sometimes odd, so we can't be certain, IMO. But whatever, best bet that remains here is having the league to remain shutdown at all cost until as @Russlenat mentioned, vaccines became available and be released in the market, and/or when the virus die since there were no transmissions anymore which would be very difficult to happen but possible by ordering strict rules and having a disciplined and law abiding citizens (high hopes for it to happen lol). They might be able to fulfill the interest of missin' the game but when they mistakenly let a single player, staff or whoever it is get inside the stadium unknowingly that it carries the virus, it would be an end game for 'em, and they must fixed as soon as possible.
349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vaccine against Covid-19 should be made before sports events will take place? on: May 08, 2020, 03:55:33 PM
I'll go with B too. Slowly resuming games/events with a limited number of individuals that can go. It would turn out tix or whatever pass needed to enter become a first come, first serve basis having a certain amount amount of people to accomodate while still following guidelines of the authorities, but before getting in, one must show no symptoms, temperature must be ain't nowhere near at risk of having a fever, and lastly ain't sick. It can be handle, in some many ways, events need to have strict rule to abide that would control viewers on maintaining distance to one another, and some conditions to at least avoid getting infected. This kind of conditions should only be allowed to a places with the least number of infected, best if it doesn't have any or a virus free due to number of recoveries, of course. The other problem here that should be look at and reassess, is those people who can't be measure by those materials if it is sick, or what and doesn't even show symptoms but carries the virus, in other words asymptomatic. It is still terrifying, since one slight of mistake on maintaining distance, or forgetting to cover faces when sneezing or coughing, touching someone or random thing, can lead to bringing someone's life near death, and that is the biggest dilemma whether to risk it or not. But anyway, if it were to insist on continuing the event, those thing I mentioned must be met. Otherwise, they would be in letter A.

Watched CNN just now and they are letting Portland Trail Blazers to have some practice provided 4 players only with social distancing.

So I was not able to watch it as I don't have time but I am expecting that the kind of practice is just more on shooting.
With this practice they are doing, will  this hint that the season will not be cancelled and will come back soon with a different set up?

No, not, if that practice were a hint social distancing won't ever be a condition, IMO. On the other hand, Portland may be wanna maintain posture while NBA games are still cancel.  But whatever, who knows lol.

A healthy Oladipo. That is the crucial question about the Pacers.
If only that injury didn't happen they could one of the top contenders in the East.
That is why I am a little shock about that Turner trade conspiracy theory. They have a chance of course, they will just need to wait for Oladipo to get back on his feet and also be mentally ready.
Their defense is one of the top because of Turner and Sabonis. The missing part is fire power which was Oladipo before the injury.

This could be conclude once Oladipo got his chance to play once again. I mean, the usual time he has and everything else would be measure then, like if he's still capable of dominating the floor or what. It might be a huge gamble at somepoint but they could widen the cap, and they could fill in their desired player. (This is from Oladipo's case).

While to Pacers big mans (Turner and Sabonis thing), well, Turner might get traded to KAT the thing is, KAT got a better career record than Turner hence, it might turnout Pacers givin' in 1-2 guys including Turner to get KAT. This solely base on the players alone, though Minnesota is currently a mess it doesn't drag down KAT's decency as a player. So, that might be it.
351  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Ang tatlong posibleng scenerio pagkatapos ng Bitcoin halving on: May 07, 2020, 04:21:56 PM
Naniniwala talaga ako dun sa FOMO event after ng bitcoin halving. Maybe in just a week duration kung saan maraming mag cecelebrate dahil tataas ang price ng bitcoin.

Medyo confusing 'yong ganito if makiki-ride ka rin (I mean 'yong dilemma between buying na agad or wait till market goes down then hold hanggang sa mag-take effect na 'yong halving na kadalasan ay isang taon bago mag-occur). Since sayang 'yong opportunity sa time na 'yon the problem is, nagFOMO in ka na rin, pero it seems not a problem naman if good 'yong magiging result nito for short term since you can sell right away naman. Going back to OP, likewise I think first scenario are more likely to happen here. Hence, may bahagyang pag-taas na possible mangyari for short term basis. Medyo ironic if ide-deny ko pa since I feel like buying a couple of BTCs rin for short term intentions due to hype na rin considering na mas lumawak na rin ang crypto community, and the likeliness na may mga babalik dahil sa trend, siguro 'yong may kakonting kaalaman na mapapa-buy rin.

Quote
Dylan Jackson put together a great hypothetical trade breakdown for Timberwolves fans at Dunking With Wolves looking at how Myles Turner could be the Wolves’ third star if they trade for him.

It's just a blueprint if ever Pacers will ever trade him. But I doubt that.  Grin

Pacers looking strong with their current rosters. If this kind of trade be at function it might be Oladipo be at risk if he can't play the same thing he was before, IMO only. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Oladipo being traded, fans really loves him though.

We don't even know exactly whether Jordan is great as a dad. That is beyond our interest and care. What I mean is Jordan has made a legacy in Basketball. He's a true legend. I am not sure if everyone else does, but I greatly admire the man as a basketball athlete. So whether he is an addicted gambler, a drunkard, a loggerhead, batters his wife, fathered a lot of children with different mothers, etc, that's a different story I don't care about. My appreciation for Jordan is his being a legendary athlete and not something else.
How I wish for people to think, and appreciate the great athlete the same way as you 'cause that's really good, isolating unrelated stuff, and look up to him as an athlete alone which unfortunately some people don't. And that might be bad for Jordan hearing some kind of label solely based from not credible, exaggerated and sometimes fabricated stories.

Well, with today's environment some kind of bs doesn't work well. Specially if the athlete on the hot seat knows how to speak, and validate things with their socmed account. Might not be enough, but at least people who knew how to check stuff in the net won't be manipulated by a ridiculous stories. Moreover, it would be just like a clickbait.
353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: May 06, 2020, 12:26:33 PM
^ Dude lost his father and he wanted to play baseball in his loving memory, why did anyone made that about gambling debts I would never know. I mean think about it, let's say Michael gambled more than he can chew, he owed some mafia people some money for losing a lot of games, in tunes of millions of dollars let's say, how does Mike quitting basketball for 2 years would really solve that issue? How could he pay them back if he quits?

What is the reasoning behind saying that Jordan had a gambling problem and he quit basketball? Like what is the connection? Shouldn't he played even more and get a lot more endorsement deals, accept all the money he was offered just so he could pay the gambling debt if that was the case? Quitting basketball and gambling addiction really has no connection in my mind what so ever, like literally zero connections.

Great summary. I am sorry I don't have the merits anymore. Could have gave you some.

Father's death.
Media making fuss that it was the Mafia which hit them.
Media made MJ the apple of their eye.
Gambling issues which should just be normal but was exaggerated by the media.
Exhaustion.

Sum it up. It is like 70 percent of it is the media's fault.
2 years out. It could be a strategy or he was just really tired. Again with just conspiracy theories. We don't know what he is feeling back then.
He could be devastated with all that is happening around him. He just want to have fun with all the money he made.

Despite all of this we all know he love basketball more than any sports.
He still came back and made history.
All that negativity around him should be buried. I think that is what he really want to say.
He used all of that emotion to strengthen him and proved it on the basketball floor.

Yeah, I agree, and this is nothing new. Media have been always like that, and won't ever change, you know, in media popularity counts as money, and so whatever gets eyeball and eyeball would bring them dollars even if it is uncalled. And in addition, even the individuals always make weird stuff in the net, on whoever gets popular at a current time. They exaggerate everything, they pull claims that sometimes doesn't even have a single connection, make a story and all. The bad thing is that sometimes, the community gets easily swayed by such false information without even checking the real narrative behind.
354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Michael Jordan’s gambling history revisited. on: May 06, 2020, 01:35:36 AM
Perhaps there was a time when he just don't know what he will do with his money.  Grin
I hope I could be at that same foot.
Maybe, he came across to a dilemma to where he would spend his money. It is funny to think about it when you have a lot in your bag, your only problem is how to win without thinking on how much you lose, more over, it looks like a battle against your own satisfaction lol.

Online gambling? Hmmm, I doubt that will waste time for that and it is the gambling of the new era.
But, I also doubt this man could still think about that with his kids growing and then his cute six year old daughter is there.
He might be having the best time of his life.
Well, who knows, he might be going back to play for a little while maybe for killing some time. As mentioned above he still has money, and he still generates it upto now, it won't be a problem for him to gamble though he would be a bad image for his children at some point. And on the other hand, online gambling is the closest possible scenario to happen here, since going on in physical casino is as problematic as countless of people would go after him which is so much stressing on his side, you know he can't even go anywhere without any interruptions.
355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never Before Experience On Gambling...!!!! Stay Safe. on: May 05, 2020, 12:15:36 PM
Your borderline going closer to addiction with that mate. Gambling is purely a form of entertainment at it's core, you have no need to put any more time in it than what it is normally needed. You have quite a lucky situation tbh, since your gf was beside you and managed to luckily advise you to stop early on. Those who weren't able to stop would surely just drop dead a few weeks after or maybe even start doing shady stuff just to manage their finances. Waking up in the middle of the night and wanting to gamble cause of that is already a sign tbh. I mean, anyone who wakes up in the middle of the night and wanted to do something would consider it as bad. Once or twice maybe it's fine, but if it were to happen multiple times per month, then better check yourself up before it turns into something much more worse.

It's a very thin line between addiction and passionate gambling and unfortunately many players or their families don't recognize it on time.
In.case described above I think it's time to turn on the red lite and ask for some help otherwise this might go into wrong direction. Hope that his friends and family can help, support is the most important

Yeah, he must seek some help otherwise it would be difficult to get out of it specially when he's all alone, and worse it could cost it a precious life. But anyway, I kinda think that nightmare he had was really frightening one that lessons and fear shot his head really hard that bullet of fear would hunt him everytime he wake up in the middle of the night even though having no inentions to gamble. Down side of this thing is that, it can't be a metric to measure confidence to stay away with gambling, never at the very least. It must be look at by someone who can take care things with this life-threatening norm. And he himself must practice not picking up his phone whenever he suddenly wake up, best bet is to lock it up and get it the next morning, lol.
356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: May 05, 2020, 09:12:36 AM
We cannot rely on thermal scanners since it cannot detect accurately since there are asymptomatic which is not showing symptoms and we have several cases here that's why this virus spread faster than we though, And its a big risk since this could contribute for the spread.

And besides I don't think social distancing will be implemented since when people got into the climax of the game for sure they will forget the distancing things.

That's a huge gamble for the org if they'll insist on considering the continuation of the game allowing the fans to watch live. Though having such prior requirements to enter the stadium itself, it isn't effective as we imagine it would since there were cases that can't be seen by a given materials. Hence, if number of cases blows out after the event, there are several things that is for certain would happen here, and that's total cancellation of the game or still resume but no fans are allowed to watch the game. So apparently, it would just go air on TV or online.

They can't just risk lives over the love of the game. So no matter what would it be, if vaccines are yet to be created, if the community isn't virus free, fans still would always end up staying indoors.

IMO, it is not the stats of Seth for me. It is how he moves on that floor whenever there is a call for defense.
That cannot be seen on records but scouts do take note of that.
Keep him, that is all I wish. Make them the new generation of splash brothers.  Grin
Yeah, man I agree. It is not about the stats that define the entirety of the player, well, stats really are a huge factor but sometimes the effectivity can be seen and judge by your own eyes on how you see someone play the game.

However, Mavs doesn't need a new generation of splash brothers the way I see how Luka play, he seemed like LeBron, not literally as solid as Bron but he got somehow the picture of it, the way he pass and how he drives, and the IQ. Seth on the other hand is reliable downtown, and in defense as well but the right side kick for Luka is Porzingis. But whatever these 3 man can shoot anyway. It is just that they have to discover their own chemistry, and on how they can maximize each other capabilities without bothering themselves to be as alike as splash brothers.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: All your entertainment things must have an external limiting feature, agree? on: May 04, 2020, 10:46:08 AM
Great idea but I don't think it will work well there's nothing to lose if we try. Anyway, IMO this kind of limitation stuff should be a personal problem that should be addressed personally. Online houses are apparently doesn't have anythig to do with it. Addiction in some way can be resolve by a little initiation of practice of setting time to stop till it become a habit. It sounded easy yet really hard but it can really be done by simply doing it. That's how simple it is, that it doesn't even require someone's interruption. Or if possible, you could've set up your boundary, like some sort of pc/gadgets will automaticallly shutdown at a certain time, this is just an idea but if it were to exist then why bother someone if you could do it alone. Atleast by this, you'll be forced to wait that might lead to sudden shift of you attention else where.

Your investments to go back here, learn, and contribute are now paying off. I just saw you back then the same rank as mine, and then a few months later I just saw you as a Sr. Member I wasn't so shocked since I came across some of your threads which really deserves merits. What really surprised me was your capability to do those stuff regardless of your current level. You seemed very confident to contribute since you knew really what you are doing and that's really inspiring. And right now with your latest S2F model translation/discussion in our local board, it makes me feel out of reach but it pushed me on the other end to work myself up, and invest in self-learning as well.

You just proved this saying, man "He who climbs the ladder must begin at the bottom". It's funny that I saw this line from some video out there and here you are right now sharing your fruitful journey. Anyway, don't ever forget to keep on what you are doing here; contributing to the forum even though you've achieved your desired rank already. And lastly have fun while staying here, and don't ever let the bad feeling of not getting merited spoil your mood (simple message I get from reputable member here and I wanna share it to you as well). Congratulations, and thank you for your contributions, cheers!!!

He already serve the country and giving chances to new young stars are better instead of placing yourself into international competitions where speed is really needed. He's mentality is not replaceable but he's not getting any younger and new players coming from other countries will add more difficulty for him to stand up, he should now focus with his local career before retiring his jersey. He will continue be known as Asia's best point guard.

I agree with that, maybe he needs to give it to the young stars, castro have already proven himself, they were able to qualify in the FIBA world, that's a big achievement already since we are not really good competing with the big guys or big teams in the FIBA world, that's why to qualify is such a big achievement already.

We're good, man. We just lack of some sort of an offensive as caliber as the intertional teams. There were teams who closely the same height as our players but had managed well to compete against big guys. It is not that big guys rules the game, it is IMO how robust the defense, and how solid the offense the team executes.

Well anyway, going back to Castro. Yeah, couldn't agree more, he had done enough for the team, he made a name in the league as well, and he needs to rest and watch over for the new, young guys who'll be next faces of the team. And talk about new guys, new faces, I just can't wait for Kai Sotto and Kobe Paras to be in the roster since these two are the most mentioned name and had show-off skills before, not to mention Jordan Clarkson who compete well though he's totally new with gilas playstyle.
