Lets say the developer rented a server farm got 1M coins and sold at market high 0.0006BTC. He only made $70k minus expenses. He developed something real in rising N value and memory requirements which mimic natural progression of computing power.
If YAC stabilizes at difficulty 1-2, block rewards 25 and block intervals at 60-120 sec then I consider this coin a success.
Market high? I sold at 0.00199... And, you are assuming the dev, didn't have a botnet of his own, which would explain why he created a CPU only coin.

1 last thing, sorry. Do you truely believe, that, in this day and age, someone, somewhere, has not figured out, how to mine YAC using a GPU? It's being mined by GPU, the few people doing it, are kepping it secret, as long as they can turn a profit doing it
Not that big of a secret, from the homepage of Yacoin lol: YaCoin is the first Internet crypto currency to guarantee long-term protection against GPU and ASIC mining. This enables all peers to participate equally in the network, regardless of their financial backing. Whether you have a few Intel i7's or a ATI Radeon 5790 GPU, you can share in mining profitability. So, this is mineable by GPU? How??

So, instead of a premine, he just takes %50 of the miner's coins You can look it another way, half of all newly minted coins go to the miners, the other half go to coin development. Or 50% go to operations, 50% go to development. Miners enable the coin to operate on a daily basis. Development creates new value for the coin over time. I don't know you. How do I know, you won't just dump that %50 on an exchange, and laugh your way to the bank?

|
|
And, lets not forget, YAC's dev, flipped a switch, and disappeared. I'm sure he dumped what he had, at its high debut price, and laughed his way to the bank.

WDC had more votes and it has a bigger community behind. I would be very surprised if Vircurex decided for DGC instead.
Vircurex stated, that the vote, did not mean, that's which coin they would add. There has been a lot of issues, regarding orphans and stale rates, surrounding WDC. DGC has a large community as well, they are just confined to Cryptsy, atm. DGC has shown more stability, in the last little while. There is also, considerably less DGC existing in the world. And, DGC's Dev, is very active, and working hard, to secure our investment. They are both good coins, in their own right, but I believe, DGC may come out on top.

I also heard that SEWAGE is the new GOLD! The big advantage of sewage is that its MUCH easier to mine than gold, so opens itself up as an opportunity with people who don't have expensive mining equipment! Finally, something that's easy to mine!
And this isn't even true. Last I checked, a 7950, was much cheaper, then a server, with dual XEON proccessors...

Except it's owned by people with server farms. Whats the real difference here?
Anyone can mine Yacoin with its desktop computer unlike all other altcoins... I do not have a server farms, only 2 small servers, and I can mine and make a little money... this is the real and obvious difference. I only have 2 7950's, in my Desktop PC, and I mine other alt coins, just fine.... Have you seen the hashrate, of the top guys in your YAC pool? You could use your CPU to mine any coin, makes no difference

Puff, puff, giiiiiivvvvveee Lol, I'll have to install the client, when I get home, to get a wallet

Fun coin, and best launch in a while. Very niche market though, bit of a novelity. do I see the masses, using weedcoin, to buy coffee, in the future, probably not. But, smoke it, if you got it, this could have value.

Not surprisingly, only the price of one altcoin with real innovation (new algo) continues to rise.
Yacoin has achieved what has Litecoin fail: to develop a altcoin really GPU resistant.

Long life Yacoin!!

Finally, somebody really IS on glue...

If my computer wasn't melted I'd mine it. SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE A SHA256 ALTCOIN +1 I'm ready for some more SHA256 Why? Itll just get raped by asics. Pretty sure, people with Asics, are not going to stop their garrenteed income from BTC, to mine your coin dude, sorry. You'd be surprised. All it takes is an hour at most of an ASIC pointed at it for the difficulty to reach a level that it can never realistically come down from. If a coin ever got popular, it would happen True. But right now, anyone lucky enough to own an ASIC, is making ungodly profits from BTC lol

Well WDC is probably hitting Vircurex soon, so that will be its second chapter.
Think so? I think, perhaps, it will be DGC...

Just couldn't bring yourself to name it HydroCoin, eh?
