well, people are short sighted. They dont know if they can hold the coin and increase the network hash, WDC could be on btc-e or even mtgox.
As a miner with a 400+ USD per month electric bill, I would assume a lot of miners just want to keep the power on. It seems to me just by tracking the names across various pools that people tend to throw all their hashing power at a single coin. I have dedicated LTC miners that do nothing but mine LTC, with my remaining 10 or so MH/S I can afford to take risks, try new coins, etc. If I had to guess I would say most miners are sticking all their eggs in one or two baskets, and hoping just to break even at the end of the month. In a scenario such as that, you can't exactly tell the power company to hold off a bit so your coin-of-the-week can increase in value lol. Unfortunately for them, operating like that is never going to amount to much more than "keeping the power on". If your saving cant handle 400+ USD eletric bill per month then you shouldnt mining in the first place. LTC was $0.5 for a looooong time which is even lower than FTC peak, yet it gonna hit mtgox. Why? because miner keep supporting it instead of mass dumping. You can sell your magikarp for $0.01 or support it till it becomes gyarados worth %100, your choice. lol, pokemon |

Hey, relax. Just sparking up a Friday morning debate. I haven't sold off any WDC that I mined, just sold off what I bought while day trading it. I have a 70,000 a year job to pay the bills, this is just play money for me.

Phenixcoin had a literally 1 MILLION coin premine. But look at what was given away or used as poker chips. Is that acceptable?
By Phenixcoins design, which is, it is soley used, really, for online poker, the house needs to build up a stake, to be successful. And give aways make sense, so people can try out the poker, and get addicted to it. Phenixcoin, is kind of a unique senerio. |

the problem is i think wdc is easy to mine and even at it's current low price is more profitable that ltc for miner to mine and dump, there are a lot of miners that just want to pay off their hardware so will not wait it out just dump straight away after mining.
Oh you probably right. If only the silly monkeys would use a bit of common sense, and realize, if you let the price rise again, first, and stabalize, they would pay off their hardware sooner, at higher prices. |

I'd ask instead, when is it not acceptable? I think it's only unacceptable if you mislead people about it.
Another question is whether a premined alt-coin is interesting as an investment, and the answer is usually no. I think most alt-coins are created to give its creators an undeserved chance to strike it rich, but that only happens if gullible people are fooled into buying in because they have an unreasonable expectation the alt-coin will soar in value.

Worldcoin vs. Digitalcoin?
Didn't Worldcoin come out before Digitalcoin? They appear to be very similar, aren't they? They also are both right at the top of the mining profitability chart. I think how it allows for fast transactions does add something to the coin (compared to LTC and BTC). I wonder though, why there are these 2 coins that are similar. Is one going to end up becoming more dominant and killing off the other? They both can't live forever I wouldn't think. Anyway I'm pulling for Worldcoin!

WDC was first WDC is faster (15 second blocks for WDC compared with 20 second blocks for Digital Coin). Digital coin is just a slower version of WDC with less community support. It will go through the typical pump and dump phase and end up lower than WDC. WDC is taking a nose dive right now and is worth less then DGC Nope, still 20% more profitable then DGC...I swear, how hard is it to open a fucking website, to confirm the shit, before it spews from your mouth? |

I've always preferred the p2pool's when available. I have one for DGC that has been up more or less continuously since the early days of the coin: http://54.227.253.120:9500/static/I hear Vern's pools are great but my luck, overall, has been hit and miss with the push pools See, it was the opposite for me. I ran into problems, of not getting paid at all, because my slower miner, wasn't able to submit shares quick enough, to the P2Pools. Maybe now that I've upgraded to 1100 KH/sec, I won't have that problem anymore... |

Could this possibly be a problem with these settings i have in cgminer? -s 1 -E 1 -q 0  Could be. I don't have those settings in my bat file. Not even sure what those settings do, tbh. |
