Why is the case just by itself cost $1200.00?

They already said they're running pretty tight margins on boards, and are looking to make more profit on the cases, and especially on complete turnkey mining units ready to run with PSU, case, etc all together with the board.

For those of us who already have a PSU or want to get one of our own, maybe do our own case or fabricate some mounting hardware to mount in something like a rack mount case, this is perfect.
The case they're offering looks nice, and if I had gotten into bitcoin sooner and had a ton of BTC laying around I'd go for it.  But I don't really *need* a nice fancy case and psu and fans and all that.  I have tons of spare parts laying around so having the option to save money is nice

Do you mind sharing on how you will be housing the boards?

I am sure that includes the PSU and fans but i believe it is still steep for 12BTC

just curious

if someone orders the assembled boards how do you plan on housing them?

The case on terrahash site is 12BTC

2 x 18 Ghash board will cost 14BTC I would rather spend the money on a board instead of a case

Any suggestions?

We have sample chips, a few K16 boards, and all the components. We will assemble a board for testing by this weekend.

This is great news

and when will you have the chips to start selling units?

1473  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] 100 BFL 4 GH/s Chips @ 0.9 BTC. 5 chip minimum - US ONLY on: June 12, 2013, 08:19:42 AM
How do you propose distributing the chips to participants of the group buy? The chips in a lot of 100 from BFL are not all the same:

Chip grades:  Chips come in four grades of performance.  Chips are sold in mixed grade lots.  A grade has 16 engines, B grade has 15 engines, C grade has 14 engines and D grade has no less than 12 engines.  All chips run at a minimum of 250 mhz.  Higher grade chips will run up to 294mhz.  The percentage distribution in each lot is 60% Grade A, 20% Grade B, 15% Grade C and 5% Grade D.

There are 2 possible scenarios:

1. The chips arrive unmarked/unsorted leaving me no choice but to send chips 100% randomly. Since only 5% are class-D a random selection should leave everyone with well over an average of 4 gh/s in any 5 chip batch.
2. If the chips arrive marked with quality/class I will simply send owners as close to the split of chips qualiy provided by BFL in the product statement.

That sounds fair
