281  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Ckpool Solo Setup mark 2 - An alternative on: May 29, 2015, 04:55:43 PM
It's a neat idea, but I'm not to crazy about the whole "group solo" mining thing.  You're basically running a pool inside a solo pool.  Since Ck doesn't seem to mind then it's a non-issue I suppose, but all in all I'm not a fan.

I do like it if you have the right people that you trust. It allows a group to size the risk to reward as you want, and have some fun doing it together. Depending on luck you can come out a nice winner (or a loser) as we have seen a few have some insane luck. But I guess for me it's a way to scratch that gambling itch some.
282  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Ckpool Solo Setup mark 2 - An alternative on: May 28, 2015, 03:06:15 PM
I understand that but u have to remember version 2.0 usually has a few thing taken into consideration that 1.0 hasn't...

Like i think phil had worked with ck to send the coins direct to miners for a small extra fee, Which would mean he wouldn't have to be trusted with this at all..

I'm sure in the time it takes to get 10 people on board i can have the same arrangement.

Its already in my list of things for 2.0 (Takes the worry trust things out of my hands) Problem solved..

Ck made it known that he could provide a secured wallet to mine to but also  that he was not to interested in having to pay out to a lot of miners as that just makes it seem to much like a regular pool ( also not sure he wants to spend his time doing so).  Can you pay him to make payments to 5 miners for a small fee? ...most likely but I know of at least 2 other people trying to put groups together and I would think there will be a limit on how much of this ck will wants to do. The other persons problems are trust issues and not having things very well planned out, which I don't think they understands.

Picking the right person to run something like this is important and without that the "worry and trust thing" would not stop until the rental contract and any coins due to be paid out to the group is over.

Just seems to me some are ready to just rush at it without fully thinking it thru.
283  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Ckpool Solo Setup mark 2 - An alternative on: May 28, 2015, 12:10:16 PM
Trust not only that the coins sent will be used to rent miners BUT that any blocks found will be paid out to the group. As Phil pointed out within mins he was responsible for 2 blocks and it could have reasonably been more before we were done.
284  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 60 blocks solved! on: May 27, 2015, 10:10:51 PM
Hey -ck would you consider displaying the biggest share found up to date?
Which best share? User's? Worker's? The pool's? The current round's or all time? None of that pool data is exported in any way I can display it at the moment and would require a code update and pool restart. Plus there's no long term record of shares like that currently so the best all time share is whatever the biggest diff block solve to date has been (which I don't keep records of but may be somewhere in this forum thread).

Well I will start it until someone shows something bigger than the CK solopool group's block at 296,381,689,520

[2015-05-18 18:28:45] Possible block solve diff 296381689520.696350 !
[2015-05-18 18:28:45] BLOCK ACCEPTED!
[2015-05-18 18:28:45] Solved and confirmed block 357022

Ugh.. Killing it for small renters. Cry LOL

not really how solo mining works..

we are fighting the difficulty, not other people.

I know it's luck, but still, your 'luck' is much more prevalent when you have 100 miners vs 1.  Cheesy

As long as those miners are hashing BTC it really does not matter where or how they are mining. It's you against the overall hash rate of BTC.
286  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Ckpool Solo Setup mark 2 - An alternative on: May 26, 2015, 09:17:00 AM
If anyone is worried about this idea email me, The said security concern around this seems to be the people in the other group have popped lots of block & earned lots of coins therefore making them a target. With a little thought we can make sure this doesn't happen again. My email is at the bottom of this if u would like to keep it out of the public forum.

1. Myself

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

7.

8.

9.

10.

9 More players required for this round.

I had an idea of when to start a round too & was thinking of running this every 2 weeks...

Start a 24 hour round on either side of the diff change depending on which side was going to be easier..

As for the email idea, i was on top of that already. My email for this is - ckpoolsolosetupmark2@gmail.com

please PM me here after u drop me an email as i dont know at this stage how often ill need to check that email address.

I'm online nearly all day every day too so i should have a better chance to run things than the other party did.

A lot of trust goes with a project like this. I approached philipma1957 about doing solo mining as a pair because i trusted him to pay me if we hit which I never had a worry that he would, so I let him hold the coins and do the setup on his Nicehash account.
287  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 59 blocks solved! on: May 26, 2015, 01:51:09 AM
Wait, I though the pool thing didn't start yet and then the forum was down and I had no way to connect to anyone to even know it was running or when to pay, etc?  Embarrassed

That last round was concluded before the forum outage, I'm pretty sure.

round three was it and that was the one with 2 blocks.

After the hack I said no more.

As of right now I need to review all my security. As I have more posts threads and pm's then most forum members.

I am mining with ckpool on my own

http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje

wish me luck

Going to do the same as I am moving coin now for some rentals. Its hard to have a large group of people and balance being transparent and secure at the same time.

The other day my 2 basement miners did have a 5,000,000,000+ share. Just need it x 10!

EDIT: started my rental.http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1er2uXFihELDtgy9nnFXh9CX5xncEUK8f  Already have a best share of : 1,604,110,618.1421304}

You're getting close! "bestshare": 39338376636.940102

Yes that was close... and the rates went up and my order is sitting.
Just raised my price so I am back at it now..

From what I read I think you can finish a area inside your shed to house some miners. I think what I would get enough to use half of your electric on mining and get credit from the electric company for other half. Then you can use your credit at night or during shorter hour days in the winter.

Edit: I see you posted that this is what you where thinking.
290  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: spec thread on how to do the ckpool-solo club on: May 21, 2015, 09:21:51 AM

I think I went from
me and aurel57 with 3.5 btc each  = 7 coins  no ckpool solo club
to 5 guys with 1 btc each              = 5 coins  first ckpool solo club
to 7 guys with 1 btc each              = 7 coins second ckpool solo club
to 10 guys with 1 btc each            = 10 coins third ckpool solo club  2block winner

I was starting to wonder if we were ever going to get a block then we hit 2! If only me and phillpma1957 could have hit on our first attempt .... but was grateful  to get most of my coin back.
291  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: spec thread on how to do the ckpool-solo club on: May 20, 2015, 10:45:15 PM
doesn't coinbase have an option to make multiple users confirm the payout to a certain person?

Also I believe in the bitcoin code there is something like that a multi-input option where after a certain group of people confirm, the payment will be sent.

Pretty much a majority wins thing.

I know its just you and ck, but it might make it harder for an address to be compromised.
Multi-signature addresses are what you're describing.  Those are addresses that start with a 3.

@philipma1957 - you're proposing that people either use the BTC address part of their profile, or to put what you did in their "other contact" slot, right?  I'll keep my solo club address in my BTC address on my profile as it is currently because the nice folks running the bit-x signature campaign require me to put my bit-x address in the other contact info portion of my profile.

Same for me with the bit-x campaign. Are we worried about someone hacking my forum profile and changing the address?
292  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: spec thread on how to do the ckpool-solo club on: May 20, 2015, 05:40:42 PM

Thanks maverick.  The reason we're doing it this way is for transparency.  Having the BTC address attached to your profile insures that there's no scamming going on.  Nobody can inject a fake user with a bogus BTC address this way.  Too many times we've all seen people get ripped off because somebody created an account very similar to another.  Here we track your user profile (which you can't change) and a BTC address attached to that profile.  In all honesty, if I were running this, I'd make you sign a message with that BTC address - an address I can verify by looking at your user profile - quoting a PM from me.  Heck, I'd probably make you PGP sign it, too Tongue.

Gosh I just had flash back of me trying to sign a message to Canary for my 15 USB miners, only to find out I could not sign one with the wallet I had sent my 30 BTC from... Tongue Had to drive to Chicago and pick up in person  Shocked

yeah if was a safe method but what a p.i.t.a ……

I remember canary was doing 20 000 stick orders.  He was pretty good at getting the gear to you.

This is the easiest way I can figure how to do a safe payout.

People don't realize how things can go wrong maverick has a privacy concern that I respect.
I wish I could figure  a better way, but he can make a new address and transfer once paid.

I did not really see the security issue until I had the 49.9 coins in an online blockchain.info wallet. I used a really good password with many copies of it in my home.

I was then fuck I owe 9 guys 4.9 btc and I have to just watch the wallet until I can cash and transfer coins out.

Next rounds the coins will be secured by ck. and we will distribute them using the list. Much safer method.

Sounds like a good plan.

296  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: A bitcoin miner in every hand on: May 19, 2015, 08:26:31 PM
I think this would work on space heaters. Need to pack at least three S1 boards in a unit with a wifi. Give the space heater to people free and make it so they have to sign up to unlock the unit and get paid a monthly credit back the more they use it. If you had 3 boards in it then you could have a low, med or high heat by running 1,2 or 3 of the boards.

Then what about a whole home heating system made out of asics?

298  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why is Discus Fish so popular? on: May 19, 2015, 07:03:35 PM
I think the name is what really intrigued me to get started here, F2pool and it's alternative Discus Fish. Very unique.
The 'less is more' styling the website has is also appreciated and the PPS reward system that hasn't been late for me has been exceptional.
And given their existing market share it seems possible that F2pool could continue to grow in size and influence the network,
but if you look at what happen to Ghash.io going from hero to zero in such a short period, who knows what could happen to F2pool next.

How true ...what a fickled bunch we miners are.

*confirmed first payment, awaiting second*

Thanks for running this phil, I might sit out this next round just to give someone a chance. Then come back in after.

Also do you have a donation address?

If you want to donate just tell Phil how much and he will deduct it from what he sends you. Much better that way than him getting sent a bunch of small payments

Okay paid out 2.5 btc to all ten of us.

we have 24.922xxxx in the next block

I am giving ck  .250   which is a match of his fee

so 24.922 - .250 =  2.4672 each.

I know 2 people said they would tip me 0.09 each

I will look back to  figure out who the were.

TheAnalogKid
mavericklm

each offered a 0.09 tip

as it stands   we all would get 2.467 after I tip ck   0.25 btc

So if anyone wants  2.4 and give me 0.067 as a  tip  let me know.

@ TheAnalogKid and mavericklm

I will send each of you 2.4

Phil I am fine with the 2.4 payment as well
