A friend of mine is just getting started in bitcoin mining... thanks to me, I got him hooked ;-)

He raised a question that I have no answer to... The question is:::

When would bitmain receive the funds if he wired money?

He's asking because he wired funds yesterday, Oct 20 for a couple S7 batch 3's and his order still says UNPAID as of 8am CST Oct 21

I thought he was a friend?
142  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 21, 2015, 01:13:50 PM
I received my first B1 09-09-15 order on Monday and it has been running 4850 since I connected and booted up. That is good.
I am not complaining by any means, but it would have been nice for Bitmain to share what the issue was which held off shipping.

.0021 HW error in a bit over 48 hours.
Temps at 54 - 60
power at the miner connection is 12.17 using a single 2880 to power the S7, along with an S5.

I am eager to see what an S7+ brings to the table along with other competition.
I do believe we will see other miners available, and I would like to see a 16 - 20 TH miner from someone with either prior successful sales to members we all know on this forum.  Say Phil for example. OR, they better begin building trust through transparency ala sidehack and novac.

I hope everyone see's their B1 S7 units ship by the end of this week so bitmain begins shipping the other batches.

While Bitmain lost serious points with many people for handling this situation the way they did, of course many will run to buy anything they sell. Personally it was a big relief to see my 3 kg shipment heading to the USA. I felt a bit taken advantage of, but they did ship me what they said they would.

I also feel like mainstream reviewers are scared of bitmain. When you tell the story of a product, tell it all. This was a serious example of a major fuckup in business.

The saving grace, and this has been their saving grace many times, is they do eventually deliver running systems. Even if you do not like bitmain for many other reasons, the majority of the hardware runs.

Maybe that is the approach of the mainstream reviewer. They do not want to say anything negative about a company, especially bitmain. So, they keep the review strictly hardware related.

In that sense I have to give bitmain great marks on the S7 for some simple things.

They sent a  quick start / rma guide, and while there were a few typos which are unfortunately common with that many words in a doc coming from certain parts of the world, it is a big step for newer and older miners alike. More so for newer.

They have a safety label on the machine, which in turn also makes it look more pro.
Most of us probably have safety information memorized and realized, but it never hurts to have that reminder in your face. I believe this is a big improvement.

The Aluminum chassis is awesome. I am worried about damage to the corner of the hash boards for those of us who enjoy different configurations and prodding. (once out of warranty of course)
They are closer to having a modular miner imo.

The used market will be a mess with speeds ranging from everything which has been posted in this thread.

What do you think is the best and worst about the S7?

Best: I like being able to adjust the fan speed. I turned it down so it's no louder than the S5 now and working fine.  The biggest is the electric savings over the S5.

Worst: the ROI
143  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 21, 2015, 01:11:37 PM
I wonder how they distinguish between batch one, two, three?

In regards to shipping or in regards to testing each board for its quality?  Batch 1 & 3 are the same in specifications with different price and shipping dates.
I got a batch one clocked at 575.
Is there a label on it to specify?
If/when I sell how will the new owner know?

It's quite easy...

All 44 of my S3's, S4's, SP20's and S5's were sold on eBay.  I posted screenshots of the "Miner Status" page for each rig AND the "Network Settings" page for each rig.  This way, they new by the MAC IP ADDRESS assigned to each rig by bitmain on the assembly line is the actual rig they will receive.  It's like an SSN for each rig to identify it.  They also see several days of the rig mining consistently at 4.8+ TH/s at 600 MHz with low HWE's.

I also let them know since this rig is running super as proved by screenshots, that also shows the date the screenshot was taken, there will be no returns for the rig(s) they purchase from me.  I did all 44 of my various models of mining rigs this way without a hiccup.

I also sold all my equipment on EBay starting with my USB miners then BFL and all the Antminers as well. I have over 1200+ feedback as a EBay seller and made sure I did not take any bids from newbie buyers and had no problems at all.

I just checked my Bitmain account and it now shows the tracking number for my order that I received yesterday but also shows the send date as 9/28. Not sure why they still want to post the 28th as the send date but they must be getting caught up to post the tracking numbers now which is a good sign.

while they may say that was shipped on the 28th  here is ups record for it oct 15th.

note I removed info on it .  I suggest you get a few pdf's and screenshots for yourself.

So I figure you get Oct 4 to Oct 15 or 11 days at 7 a day = 77 usd.  This could be wrong.

Phil I thought it had a late day starting after the 10th and Bitmain saying the comp starting the 11th. If so its only like 4 days at most. Maybe like $28 then. Rather be out the couple days and have a miner running at 4.8TH.

Also did you receive the 1500w Meanwell power supply ? Was wondering if it works ok? That seller is about 20 miles from me and may try one also.

Got my S7 powered up as well and doing as expected (4.8+TH) after a soft reboot. Using a RM1000 and a RM850 for power.

By the way, all nine (9) S7's are doing great with very low HW errors and all 9 units are at least 4.8 TH/s and above @ 600 MHz.  I refuse to do any over clocking of these rigs, as I want them to last me a LONG time.

I have 8 of them hooked up to IBM 2880W PSU's.  I only had to reboot half of them to reduce the HW errors from 0.1XXX% to 0.00XX%.  I went ahead and hooked up the 9th rig to two (2) Corsair AX860 PLATINUM PSU's.  The hash rate was low and the HW errors were high at initial start up.  Once a reboot was done, the hash rate is 4.837 TH/s and the HW errors are 0.0019% now after 20 hours and 40 minutes of mining.

Over all, I'm VERY pleased with the performance of the S7's.  I will post snapshots of the "Miner Status" for all 9 rigs [After 24 hours of use] to show what those who order in the future can expect in regard to performance.  I cannot hook up to a watt meter, as my meter went "cur plunk" on me about 3 months ago.  However, my "metered" 240 Volt PDU's read 10 Amps for each breaker on the PDU.  I have two (2) S7's hooked up to each IBM 2880W breaker of the 30 Amp PDU's.  The amp meter reads 10 Amps for each 15 Amp breaker.  [The 30 Amp/ 240 Volt PDU's have two (2) 15 Amp breakers built into them.  If we multiply 240 Volts x 10 Amps, we get 2400 watts.  Divided by 2 [S7's] = 1200 watts.

EDIT:  I did have a high pitched wine from one of the S7's after about 7 or 8 hours of mining.  It was hard to make out which one was making this noise.  So, I ended up doing a half to full turn on the screws to all the fans [Front and back] and the noise went away after about 20 to 30 minutes.

dmwardjr that is great to know. I didn't know you received your miners...(I guess I missed that but am glad to hear your happy with them) will have mine Monday the 19th.

I have been running 5 batch 1 for a little over 2 weeks.  2 at 4.7th/s and 2 at 4.5th/s and 1 at 4.4th/s.  They are running and I am happy with that, but I don't see the 4.8th/s that everyone is getting.

That is the reason we all have been waiting so long for our Batch 1 miners

I think you will be very well pleased with their performance, aurel.  I certainly am!!!

I will be posting screenshots in about another 2.5 hours to show the performance of all rigs after 24 hours of use.

Yes, BITMAIN, has had its up's and down's.  However, without them, we would not have the opportunity for decentralization in mining we require to keep the blockchain healthy.  I'm thankful for their contribution to the bitcoin community and look forward to supporting them further in the future.

Cheers...

I agree as Bitmain has been a great supplier to the home miner with great equipment. I am so looking forward to receiving the miner Monday but am also very thankful for Bitmain to say he will compensate us for the couple of days it was late. What most need to remember is if Bitmain can not make a profit then he most likely will not be selling equipment to the home miners and then what?  Cheers to you sir as well...

All nine miners and nine power supplies were scanned at 3:00 am CST, so I got eighteen texts one after another and woke everyone up at my house.

Still shows unshipped on bm.com, but it's waiting to clear the custom agency in China. At least progress at last....

Thats good news.... mine is in Alaska now..but also shows "Unshipped"

Our packages are definitely traveling together so far.  Mine were scanned in Alaska at 3:26 PM also  Cheesy

Miners are now in Kentucky.

Just checked and my order has made it to Japan which is a different route than most other times which took the miners thru Alaska. But so far so good and UPS says it will be here Monday the 19th.

The global distribution networks have 2 paths between almost all destinations, a slow and a fast one. The slow one is cheaper and more efficient because you can guarantee near 100% utilisation at all times, redundancy and volume. The fast one takes many fewer hops but the plane has to leave regardless of if its 40% or 80% full.

In the case of a package that is predicted to arrive local to the destination a Saturday via the fast route, they'll drop it to the slow one. Its going to be delivered on the Monday regardless, so why increase the cost for everyone? My Chinese packages take about 6 hops when they'll arrive locally on the weekend, else just 3.

Thanks for the explanation as I was thinking along those lines but was unsure of it.
152  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 17, 2015, 03:38:10 AM
I envy you guys. I've got absolutely no shipping info. I called FedEx today so that they could do an "advanced" search. Nada.

For grins I checked the other carriers (in case Bitmain arbitrarily chose a different shipper). Also nothing.

So I ordered on 9/5 with BTC and there's absolutely no sign of shipping whatsoever. I wrote to Bitmain 3 days ago and got no answer.

I guess I should't spaz since Bitmain is supposed to compensate (such as it is). But I'd rather have the hardware in hand and under my control.

One nasty thought is that Bitmain did actually ship, but it's stuck in some customs delay that's not searchable by FedEx. Since I have no tracking info, I would never know and have no ability to resolve it.

Where's that whiskey...

My suspicion is they are shipping out the orders that had more units to reduce their compensation amount.

My order from 9/8 was for only 1 miner.

It only took a couple of hours to get clearance...they are on the way again!  It is funny how BM is confused with the whole shipping notification.  First, the order said shipped and nothing.  Then it ships and the order status switches to Unshipped.  The packages are slowly circumnavigating the globe and the status stays Unshipped.

I hope this does not slow things down too much!

EDIT: I did get a phone call from UPS for a tax ID or SSN because the value was over $2500.  I have 4 in this order.

No phone call here but only have one miner coming my way.

Did you folks with 3.0 Kg orders also have Power supplies? There are reports that Bitmain will ship PSU's in advance of the miner itself.

I would think 3.0 Kg as being "light" for the miner.

No PSU ordered here just a miner

I'm pretty sure UPS will send me a bill in the mail for a "brokerage" fee of maybe $35 to $40 but we may also have to make up the difference in weight.  Only time will tell.  I'm not going to worry about and just wait for the bill to come in the mail from UPS.

Really?? I have never had UPS bill me before on miners. I am having this one dropped off at my local UPS Store as not to miss the delivery. It will be interesting if they try and collect anything from me.

Really,

I had a shipment of 6 x S5's from Bitmain in which I had to pay a brokerage fee of $39.29.  I've had other shipments from Bitmain with no brokerage fee at all.  I think it's kind of a hit or miss thing.

Thanks for the reply on that. Its not something else I want to look forward to. I have a hard time understanding how it would be our fault if UPS didn't collect enough from the shipper?
