121  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: November 07, 2015, 10:35:19 PM
So now the rest of the network has to live with pools that don't do their fucking jobs, causing longer transaction confirmation times, because miners are too stupid to stop mining on pools that are actively hurting the network.
So 100% totally this.

The real problem is that miners keep right on mining on these pools.  AntPool, F2Pool and company care nothing about the network - they care about lining their pockets.  I created a thread about empty blocks here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1085800.0.  The data is old, but you can see how each pool fares.  Just for fun, here's the data on empty blocks since this past difficulty adjustment:

AntPool - 27 of its 270 blocks have been empty (yes, that's 10%)
F2Pool - 22 of its 341 blocks have been empty (6.45%)
Eligius - 2 of its 25 blocks have been empty (8%)
BW.com - 5 of its 68 blocks have been empty (7.35%)
KnC - 4 of its 96 blocks have been empty (4.17%)
Slush - 3 of its 92 blocks have been empty (3.26%)

All told since last difficulty adjustment, 1459 blocks have been found.  64 of them were empty blocks (4.39%).

I hate to sound so dumb but are these empty block like dead end roads were you have to turn around after traveling down them and go find another route?

1) upgrade to the latest firmware.
2) Try another PSU
3) Check boards/Fans.

Hope it will help you.

How can I upgrade to latest firmware as I can't even access the machine through IP or LAN.
I have checked with several PSU as I got 22 Antminer s7 from first batch.
Fans and Boards seem to be working fine but can't access the machine as it doesn't connect to the LAN or doesn't assign the IP to access the interface.

Already sent an email to BITMAIN hope to have this solve soon

I would think if you are running that many S7 miners you should invest in some of those long controller cables so you could plug a couple miners into one controller in case one goes down as that is what you may very well have. I believe it was said one controller can run up 9 boards or 3 miners. It would help a lot in trouble shooting a problem.

How can I connect one controller to different boards or one controller for multiple s7?

You should find your answers here...https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1173573.0

May i ask about any guys have get Batch 1 refund ? Huh

Have they paid anyone's promised money back yet for shipping fing late?

Nothing on my batch 1 which was about 3-4 days late getting shipped (after the 10 day "holiday")

Did anyone actually receive compensation for the batch 1 delay?

Nothing here ...yet

Anyone powered his S7 using only 1 PCi-E 6 per board ?
I have powered them with only 1 cable per board for the last 2 days and they were working fine
Just today I read somewhere that it actually needs all 3 cables per board.

That's over 350W DC for 1 cable.  The connectors/pins are only rated for a maxijum of 324W, and those ratings aren't overly conservative given the demanding environments mining puts on them (vibration + high ambient temps).  Plug more cables into them, like now...

Edit: Plus it violates Bitmain's ridiculous warranty terms...

I'm doing 8 total, 2 each to outside boards and 3 to center plus controller. That way I can use 2 dell 750 PSU with 8 cables. Using high quality 16awg cables and breakout boards. No issues. Been monitoring temps of connectors and cables. Avg connect temp is 79F. Miner runs at 55-59c and ambient temp is 69-72F.

That would be 175w per cable on the boards with 2 plugged in. Consumer PSU may not handle this since cables are lower gauge and will heat up more.

I have dell 750 server PSU also...can you PM where you bought your breakout boards

Interesting thing I noticed on my Batch 1 order I received a month late earlier this month.

I decided to change the airflow and vent into my garage for the winter since I live in Texas and we don't ever run the heater.

I chassis-connected all nine of my s7's that were delivered weeks after the Chinese holiday. I had noticed that two of the miners were always a little bit lower on 24 hour averages and seemed flaky. I have two miners that will randomly start throwing a mild amount of errors and switchover to my second and third pools, which I never thought much of to be honest.

When I took them all down from their prior mounts and connected them I noticed the rev dates on the hashing boards. I have seven 1.6 version boards, a single 1.5 and a single 1.4 board, guess which ones I am noticing the weirdness from...

Anyone else notice the flakiness from the 1.4/1.5 boards? After waiting for over a month I guess it surprised me that I got the older rev boards from B1.

Ufo

My early B1 is even worst, V1.3. So much for ordering early. 2 of the boards didn't work, later found out they have loose chips. This board doesn't work with controller with later version hash boards. My second B1 and B3 came with V1.7.  It does hash at 1.62 TH (running it by itself) on average.
This is good information. Do you have to pull the boards to see the revision?
I imagine the rear fan has to come off to pull the boards.
They are not connected to anything internally. Just the external hash connector and the three pcie.
And my middle hash board is not as snug as the other two.

I just checked my Batch 1 which was shipped about the 14-15th and all 3 boards are V1.5 and have had no problem to report. I run at 612 freq and get 4.85TH/s

It seems to me that Bitmain has had time to get things caught up...so I am wondering when the compensation for Batch 1 will start to get taken care of? The longer they wait the higher the BTC they own us is worth.  Shocked

everything is priced in USD... if bitmain owes any moneys, it will be the USD amount..   correct me if I am wrong..

Dear loyal customers,

We're sorry to inform you that we didn't make the shipment of some orders today as promised. When we did the last spot check, we found some issues which cannot be delivered to you directly, engineers are working on it now and shipment should be arranged before end of next week.

Due to this trouble, we'd like to offer you the compensation following 97.5%*PPS payment according to the total hash rate of miners in order, starting from Oct. 11 Hong Kong Time, till the real shipping out date(which is not included), with electricity cost deducted at the price of $0.098/KWH.

The accounting unit is Bitcoin in the calculating, while USD is considered as a foreign currency. The day to day exchange rate will be get from Bitstamp daily average.

The final payment will be after we have collected your payment address, and we will inform you the way to confirm your receiving address with us.

After collect all the necessary info, we'll process the refund by batches, please wait for update patiently.

Apologize again!

F-d by UPS.
changed the delivery to UPS store and they pushed the delivery to Monday.
I called in and they said that changing to local store changes delivery by one business day.
Is this for real or what? anybody else had the same experience?
bummer...

Did you call or do it on the website using My Choice? On the website it's quite clear that it changes the day as they force you to agree to that when making the change.. If you called it's frustrating if they didn't tell you..

thanks.
basically, i did not want to waste part of the day waiting for it.
AFTER i made the change (maybe i did not notice the stuff re date as it was not explicit in any way) for the WHOLE day the web site said delivery estimate-FRIDAY, then I called and they were feeding me the same line ("Customer service says that it will be delivered today").
If the first person firmly said that it will be delivered on monday and if you want it today, we can arrange it to go to the hub, then i would be fine with it.

Bottom line, i am out of maybe 0.1 BTC, no biggie, it just felt unfair, but I'm over it already.

I have redirected the last 4 miners I have ordered. I have a UPS store in town about 2 miles from my house and have experienced no delay due to it. I have always changed the redirect as soon as I knew the package was in the system so I am talking a couple days at least. I can see how it might add a day if you waited to long or if the redirect is way out of the way or a different UPS distribution area. There use to be a $5 cost to have it dropped off at a UPS Store but UPS does not allow the stores to collect it anymore. I am very happy with the service UPS has given me.
132  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: October 31, 2015, 05:39:59 PM
yeah, looks like the workers are showing up on the dashboard, just no hash yet.
I am waiting for the hash to appear
Thank you

Sounds like you got it then... The slowness of the hash showing up had me all screwed up the first time. You can also set up your account as PPS or PPLNS
133  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: October 31, 2015, 04:32:58 PM
ok aurel, but in the miners settings what do I put for worker and password?
I put the sub-account name ? eg. vortexz.1 ?

ok I have a sub that is aurel so on my miners config page i have aurel_1 for the miner and password can be anything as most pools are.
134  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: October 31, 2015, 04:18:03 PM
where do I get my worker name from ?
what is my worker ?
noob question yes, but I can't see it anywhere on my antpool account

Go to your account settings. I added a sub account of aurel (you may use like vortexz)...add a wallet to mine to there also. Then use that subaccount name (aurel for me) then if you add more than one miner and you want to keep them seperate you can add aurel.1 or aurel.2...ect. (you may want vortexz.1 ) once you have them mining go to your dashboard and check your workers, as the workers are added automatically. If they show up you should be good as it takes a while for the hash to catch up and show anything..maybe 10 mins but if the workers are showing up leave it go for 10 mins. I made the mistake of screwing with it as no hash was showing up and I didn't know it would take a while.

Just switched to antpool from eligus and I'm having a hard time finding where to view my current status. I have 5ths pointed that way before I turn my other 4ths over but I would like to confirm its actually working.

User interface of the miners say they are hashing.

Antpool

Then log in, look at your dashboard and you will see your hash rate on the chart to the right and also your earned coin on the left. Then you can click on workers and should see the miners.

If you don't see anything and you have given it a hour then you may very well not have your pool info configure right in the miners.

And now a question about flashing the new firmware.  I have to be honest, I don't think I've done this since the S1 days which was a simple .bin file to flash them with.  But the new file is a tarball with multiple files in it.  I have tried linking the tar.gz file and it wouldn't take it, then I just untar'd it and tried, still nothing.  The fully uncompressed file has several files in it, so I didn't want to risk just flashing with the .bin file since there's also a script file and a couple of others...

TL:DR - What's the process to flash my S7 with the 600 MHz firmware upgrade?
There is an upgrade tab on n the system section on the web gui.
You browse for file , select it an click flash
I down load the file to my pc first
Very easy.

Ok, yes, I know where the upgrade tab is in the gui, but do I just use the tar.gz file to perform the upgrade?  Maybe the file was corrupted when I downloaded it so it wasn't working.  I'll have to try again when I get home tonight.
Yes just download it from the website with a browser. Tar.gz is the file it uses. Confused me at first too back in the day.
I have a laptop running at the datacenter that I download it to.
Then I can flash them all from the same file.
I use teamviewer to remote control the laptop, very slick product, free for personal use.

I have used TeamViewer since my USB miner days, seeing that I would have to do a hard reboot of my computer everyday and it works slick. I also use it while on vacation so I can check on web cam at home to make sure it's all good.

Thanks for all the replys that i have.

I read here that there was a problem with the internet going down.
I think that was the problem yesterday...

Since 8.00 AM from today, the miner is working as a bad ass with no worries at all.
I did not see wha was the firmware version, but i'll pass my eye on it.

It was posted that if the internet goes down it could over heat the miner due to the fans dropping down and the miner still hashing away. After reading that I now have a Delta fane about 3 inches in front of the intake fan blowing air into it as my internet provider is crap.
138  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 28, 2015, 06:10:40 PM
OK, another stupid question from someone who is getting his S7 delivered tomorrow.  Since I will be using separate power supplies for the hash boards, is there any concern about overheating while turning them on one at a time with the control board psu being the last one to turn on?

I'm just curious since the worry about 'internet connection' issues and fans not cooling, when they're initially powered up is that any concern?

I am powering my S7 with 1-RM1000 and a RM850. I just left both PSU turned off, plugged all cables in and Ethernet cable then turned on the 850 first as it was just powering 1 hash board then turned on the 1000 as it's powering the other 2 boards and the controller. At first it looked to be about a 1TH short of hash so I did a soft reboot and it came right up to speed of 4.8+

Question for S7 -
Bitmain says all three PCIe connectors on each board must be attached.  Does anyone know if miner will work with one open on a board?  In other words is this a hard and fast rule or is this for ideal performance?

I don't think anyone would want to risk trying that since we're talking about a $1600 piece of hardware.

If you lower the freq you could most likely get away with less PCI's plugged in. (Just not sure how low you would need to go)
140  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 28, 2015, 03:28:17 PM
Hello to you all.
Received my ANT7 Batch 1 yesterday.
Also received the PSU from Bitmain.

Yesterday i pluged everything, configured and "voilá"... it was mining...

Everything OK by 2 hours... after that the unit started to beep.. i needed to poert it off.
Connected again... and once again it was mining.

After 2 hours the some problem... the mining decrese to almost 0, the unit started gain to beeb.
Power off and power down again
The unit beeps again and again... works for 3 to 4 minuts until it stops mining

From 21PM yesterday the unit is producing ZERO... its beeping almost shure (i'm in home, and the unit in in my office).
The ANT7 is connected to a swhitch and then the switch is connected to a router.

Im a newbie, and i thought this was power on and let go... i see its more complicated for a 2500€ machine. Angry
Is there any troubleshotting guide?
Help is needed.

Did you configure your pool information on the miner? As it will mine but to Bitmain account. If you did I think I would check the miner status page and watch your temps see what they are. Then if that looks good I would try and use a volt meter and check your voltage from the PSU under load. Watch it the whole 3-4 mins and see if the voltage drops off as the miner drops off.

I would like to see a screen shot of the miners status page.
