981  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Experiences with CoinsMarkets.com? on: January 07, 2018, 10:35:01 PM
So, no official communication from admins of the page but they are working on the fix...

They could do it more elegantly changing at least the front page to some status update instead of a cached broken site for several days.

better communication would help, but im thinking that all hands are busy with servers

CM is over for me. I lost my trust although they will come back.
But if they will not come back, the only thing i couldn't understand is why scamming at a growing business?

I suggest everyone read this post. this post came from third years of my experience in crypto world.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2185903.msg27493176#msg27493176

i can not use coinbase for over a month, just like thousands (millions) other users. but nobody screaming its a scam. im pretty sure CM has same issues with coinbase

oh and how was communication? not the same right...

every single exchange is overcrowded right now. besides btc network is choking as well and - its impossible to operate in these conditions. relax

any info when the site will back online?

i heard on discord it might be 9 days of downtime. you still can access portion of the site and its not the first failure like that. so i might hold screaming "exit stage" (for now). as for domain registration - most of them are year-by-year with automatic restart (like any site on squarespace).
985  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: META token, ICO's alive! on: January 06, 2018, 03:14:27 AM

986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet Hack on: January 06, 2018, 03:10:34 AM
since its not clear where you downloaded the wallet and how you created keys - it might be anything up to rigged qt output
987  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet Hack on: January 06, 2018, 03:08:32 AM
So I downloaded a wallet for a cryptocurrency that I will leave anonymous. I loaded my coins and made several transactions. I open my wallet daily, but about a month after my last transaction, I opened my wallet and find that all these transactions had occurred that I had not made. But the curious thing was these transactions were backdated before other transactions I had made. So transactions I had actually made were no longer in my transaction history, but the currency was still in the wallet I sent it to. But these fake transactions, that were back dated emptied my wallet out. I don't understand what kind of hack this was. Does anyone know.

Thanks

this is a bitcoin forum, you might want to post it in altcoin if this is not a bitcoin-related post

site looks solid (but its still in 2017 lol) its not very clear from white paper how you will maintain promised speeds and fees with growing network. no technical details, paper is just a financial plan with a little mention of mechanics.
989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: January 06, 2018, 02:48:12 AM
Hey, guys! Please sign this petition! Get Ripple on CoinBase!

https://www.change.org/p/ripple-get-ripple-on-coinbase-18f018d0-1c06-4d74-9a69-1639c9649af5

Ripple is the Future!

there is no need in ripple on coinbase. they should scale up at least to be able to handle current traffic (please coinbase!!!). and its very unlikely for ripple to be on coinbase with policies like minimum activation payment or centralization.
990  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $300 to invest - Hit or miss on: January 05, 2018, 09:37:20 PM
I have $300 to invest. Looking for making an insane amount of money. I know its greed, but $300 isn't going to change my life if I lose it.
But if I am able to pick the right crypto and hit the jackpot it will sure change my life and also the lives of people who are dependent on me.

If you're wanting to really make a substantial amount you probably need to look for coins that are in their infancy, ICOs are probably your best bet and then you've just go to hold out and wait and hope you picked a good one. Anything with a low hard cap will be a good shout.
even if you do not turn violently advertised Yeko companies, you can turn to a fairly wide range of information about different projects. And even having studied all this information, a person can make a mistake. Therefore, in any case, any investment is in its way a risk.

and keep in mind things that out of hands of developers like legal status. its very trendy right now, more countries trying to regulate/ban the market

992  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do you know low fee Accelerator ? on: January 05, 2018, 08:48:44 PM
So
I generated Seg-Wit wallet ,, Can i send and receive funds to/from non-segwit adressess ?

The answer depends on the type of SegWit address that you are using.

Are you using a native SegWit address (a bech32 address that starts with the letters "bc")? Then you can send funds to non-SegWit addresses,
but most wallets canīt send to you, unless the sender also uses a wallet that has already implemented bech32 support.

If you are using an encapsulated SegWit address (an address that starts with the number "3") then you can also send funds to
non-SegWit addresses. Additionally, these addresses are completely backward compatible that means that you can successfully receive
funds from every wallet or exchange.

is there any active validator that can confirm address type? saw something like that couple years ago, but can't find it now. and its probably outdated
993  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: bitcoin over quantum machinery on: January 05, 2018, 06:41:28 PM
Yawn.
Every time an idiot wants attention hs/he writes something about bitcoin.

The mathematical techniques used to secure bitcoin did not fall from the sky, neither are they being used in isolation in only bitcoin.
It's also used to secure a whole lot of things other than bitcoin so even if ECDSA is broken, bitcoin wouldn't be the first target.
Also, bitcoin could always be forked to a quantum resistant algorithm.

i don't think you can get any attention with that post. buut with some more info about quantum-resustant algo you def would get all it all  Cool

995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Yes another f*ucking Meme coin! Introducing Bogcoin on: January 05, 2018, 04:55:03 PM
Is the dev for this coin still around?  Has this coin been completely abandoned?  If so, it is ripe for someone to take over.

doge was a meme, but its devs took it veeery seriously. thats why it succeeded. doesn't look like this is the same case, its abandoned already

this is of course old news (mtr article), but i can not really find a lot regarding the topic. anybody else working in this direction?

it is almost 2 years who this kind of article comes out.
i don't care about it..

isn't it like saying 'i don't care about wifi' in 1989?)

hum.. i really think are 2 different complessivity levels

its still very far, but the fact that major players are already competing for the standard write-up means its coming

999  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM ICOs on: January 05, 2018, 04:18:17 PM
unfortunately even successful ICO can turn bad in no time. all you can do is to keep an eye on it 24/7 (rule #1)and catch the dump. or use notifications if ICO is on one of the sites you can pull meta from. it takes a lot of experience to spot a fraud, observe and study is good with small investments. and of course, you can make good cash with scam ICOs - just follow rule #1
