Why have you joined bitcoin?

Obviously to make money, that's why I joined.

But after losing quite a bit from being scammed once, I lost all my faith in bitcoin.

The only reason why I stayed was because of this community. It is like my second family.

What's your reason for joining and staying with bitcoin?

This is my 500th post !!

Thats the only reason for me, and I have done well so far.

No other investment gives you so much joy.
642  Other / Off-topic / Re: TV Series Recommendations... on: June 10, 2014, 12:03:10 AM
The legend of Avatar and the Legend of Korra are both pretty good series, the first definitely because well it's Avatar (don't watch the movie seriously, just don't.) and Korra because it takes place about 70 (?) years after the first series. Each one has 4 books, or will have 4 books (unconfirmed by the creators for Korra which is the newer of the 2).

Last night or the night before 4 eps were leaked from book 3 of Korra, and even though they were in spanish and needed subbed, the series is only getting better with each episode.

At any rate, I watch a lot of cartoons, when I had cable and Westerns so all I can really recommend is cartoons or a westerns channel.

Watched Avatar sometimes back and liked it. Watched the movie a bit, and I would happily pay up to get my time back Grin

Interesting tip on Korra, will look for it.

We have gotten some good recommendations from the Movie Thread... let's get it started for TV Series, as I think a lot of series now are just as good or even better than some of the movies coming out...

The ones that I am following right now are:

Banshee - Cinemax
True Detective - HBO
Shameless - Showtime
From Dusk Til Dawn (The Series) - Netflix Canada
House of Cards - Netflix
Vice - HBO

What other series are you guys watching and would recommend?

Excellent choice. It was fantastic. Waiting to see what they do next year.

A cash prize to the one who finds anything more controversial from my past than the screencap with silver pot in my head (taken from our very own commercial video, which unfortunately went viral 4 years later than scheduled Wink ).

lol... actually it was quite funny....

646  Other / Off-topic / Re: NASA Beams 'Hello, World!' Video from Space via Laser on: June 09, 2014, 10:35:26 PM
I don't have a huge understanding of these kind of physics but I think I'm right in thinking that light is faster than radio waves, so that means in theory you could transmit data a lot faster than your standard wireless connection, I guess it's a bit like fibre optic where they use light to transmit data through the wires.

Both of them are the same type with different frequencies. Laser can be focused more and can be made precise.
647  Economy / Speculation / Re: At THE RALLY when will you sell? on: June 09, 2014, 10:30:39 PM
If you want to make real money you gotta hold alot more than till nearest rally incoming Wink
Right. But many of us want to increase their BTC stash by selling high and buying low.

But some of us are afraid of getting out & never getting the chance to get back in Sad

Theres always the risk, so you have to be bold enough to eat your losses and buy back in. You will always get enough chances.

Bitcoin is the currency of choice in Hell?

If Satan comes out with the announcement we will straight to da Moon!!

Now now don't give any coin creators ideas I can soon imagine a proof of work for the Hellcoin

The coin chosen by demons of the underworld  Grin

What are the odds there  is already a hellcoin out there? They were struggling to find new names for new clone coins.
649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MASTERCOIN VS NXT on: June 09, 2014, 10:25:51 PM
Does anyone still use Mastercoin?  Nxt has a developer community second only to BTC.  In 3 months you will be able to do 5x with Nxt that you can do right now, exciting times.

I bought and sold MaidSafe throught the Mastercoin system without having to buy Mastercoins... I used bitcoins... That means mastercoins are nearly useless...

Except that you paid a lot more buying through bitcoins.

That was used as a pump&dump scam to get rid of their Mastercoin. 20% of total Mastercoin supply was used in 3 hours to buy MaidSafe... That's how much strong hands like Mastercoin.

Also look Mastercoin's volume and orderbook, once you buy you are trapped bag holding.

BTW: I like Mastercoin idea, but the coin itself is not worth investing. Same applies to Ripple idea and XRP.

Regardless it still means you could have got maidsafe cheaper with mastercoin. Mastercoin can try more stunts like this in te future.

What I really dont understand that with so much hate & negativity is why do they still hang around like an old fart in a poorly ventilated room

Its like bitcoin has hurt them in some way and they want revenge .....I would like to quietly point out that bitcoin is a technology and not your abusive farther/mother

well, i can see why someone who "missed the boat" on bitcoin might feel bitter and would want to cope by putting bitcoiners down, so to speak. but i also don't think all of those that you guys might label "FUDsters" fit in that category.

Everybody can get into this market ESPECIALLY NOW !!!  or am i being a nuter again Huh

Even for the last 2 weeks I am up a low 5 digit sum from simply HODL

Its really not rocket science ...To make a $100 trading penny stocks is hard hard work ... bitcoin is investment for the mass's Cheesy

sure, HODL is great for the last 2 weeks in an up trend. how is HODL over the past 5 months? i have no problem with HOLDers, but it ain't for everybody. Smiley
If you can't successfully trade, and most people can't, you have to find alternatives. On the other hand, and maybe I'm just seeing things, but it looks like most daytraders make shitty holders.

I HODL the major portion and play with a small part. That part has gone up several times, so even if end up stuck one side or another, though I quickly cut my loss if I can see its definitely moving one way, I have made a good gain.
653  Economy / Speculation / Re: 10/21 EMA has crossed! Weekly MACD set to cross up! Full Moon in 7 days! on: June 06, 2014, 06:07:22 PM
Still a lot of short term bears thinking the price will go below $650.

My advice is don't count on it to happen.

Very confident it will happen, might even test 550.

655  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 06, 2014, 06:04:02 PM
Whatever the direction this takes, it's going to be brutal

I personally don't think is will take a direction for a few days. Can easily see this consolidating until next week. Although we have been getting weekend pumps recently.

One funny dynamic that i noticed is that frequently, when people begin to describe a pattern, then that pattern NO longer will take place.  It is like someone is relying on people expecting a pattern, and then manipulate to change the pattern...

Maybe that comment is too conspiratorial, but I have seen several proclamations of patterns... that do NOT always play out too well.

Very likely. Bots and the methods they use have just about the biggest R and D budgets in software development and daytraders will be a prime target for them. Put a nice, clear pattern on the charts until a sizeable amount of money is following it and then turn it the wrong way, the daytraders have to get it right nearly every time but the whale only has to get it right once.

Sounds bad for us.

After the last rally I started noticing that, I assumed it might be due to almost everybody using generic bots using the same settings.

Fake wall is back...

Srs guy, if you had just left it at $670 people might have had some "fear" that it was real, but when you follow market price +5 but less than +10 to the nearest 5, ITS OBVIOUSLY FAKE.

Maybe he genuinely wants to sell, and keeps behaving like this to make others think its a fake wall.

If he wanted to sell, why wouldn't he just keep the wall there and see if it gets eaten? Hard to unload 1300+ BTC in this manner, methinks.

He may want it to look fake so that when it goes up others think its fake anyway and eat it. Keeping it steady might have meant price not going up.

Just guessing, might be totally wrong Grin

Is the wall still there?

correct.

I missed it. Was there an apple news?
659  Economy / Speculation / Re: negative interest rates by ECB on: June 05, 2014, 06:54:13 PM
I think this news is more bullish for bitcoin than the eBay stuff

It is, though it still sounds too dumb to be true.

I think this is quite a realistic scenario - when will it happen?

It will only happen when dollar is useless. Then it will does not matter Grin
