So its 12:50 in the morning and am on satoshidice and peerbet... next then you know a message box with the title nsa surveillance pops up on my screen. They know my name, and that I have been engaged in bitcoin related activities. I wanted to take a picture but acted to fast in turning off my computer. went like this: Hey andrew, do you use bitcoin?
yes why?
did you buy illegal substances with your bitcoin?
I didnt reply bc I was in shock that they new my name and that I use bitcoin. I've never bought illegal items but I do mine and gamble. The question is are they remotely looking at my computer now? I need some answers and help. Has anyone else got this message? I live in sc and a man in charleston sc recently was arrested for buying and selling illegal drugs with bitcoin so I figured thats why they are monitoring my state and picked up on me.. I don't know if I should gamble, toss my computer, or wtf to do. And advice would be nice, thanks
did you click on any links from a java chat app on any of the websites you were browsing?

Looks like Moore's law kicks in I hope I'll just be able to ROI and them make a little bit of profit from my late-ordered KnC Saturn before it's time to move onto these guys. A pro tip: don't take preorders, the community here is pretty much tired of the preorder game and wants back to the predictable time of over-the-counter purchase of hardware (like it was with GPUs). So, please, make a certain buffer of ready-to-hash devices before starting selling them, so that deliveries can be made next day after placing an order. +1 on the tired of the preorder game. no more preorders please

I get a trojan alert when running this software, any idea why? The virus alerts that appear here involve: (1) MULDROP.Trojan, for more details see here: http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/threat/encyclopedia/entry.aspx?Name=Trojan%3AWin32%2FClort.A.dr#tab=2but the essence is this: Launches MS08-067 Attack When Trojan:Win32/Clort.A is executed, it creates a mutex named ‘2008-MS08-067_TEST’ and exits if it already exists. This trojan connects to a remote site to retrieve target information, or IP address range data for the trojan to attack. The data is retrieved from the domain address 'gsinvest.gov.cn/*******/VoteModiy.asp'. Next, Win32/Clort.A executes %TEMP%\svchost.exe, attacking IP addresses provided by text from the page 'VoteModify.asp'. It tries to connect to port 139, and if successful, launches %TEMP%\svchost.exe <IP address> The attack attempts to locate vulnerable computers that have not applied Security Bulletin MS08-067. Downloads Other Malware If a target computer is exploited, Win32/Clort.A!exploit executes shell code that instructs the target to download TrojanDownloader:Win32/VB.CJ from the domain 'dabao8.net' as a file named 'cc.exe'. The downloaded trojan is then run. Win32/VB.CJ is a trojan that downloads other malware. When run, it attempts to download TrojanDownloader:Win32/VB.CQ from the domain 'nowbt.net' as a file named 'cpa.exe'. Downloads Adware After TrojanDownloader:Win32/VB.CQ is downloaded it is run. It attempts to connect to the Web address 'cpa123.cn' and downloads adware. (2) WS.Reputation.1 for symantec, the alert they have is for any new program, apparently: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/WS-Reputation-1-is-this-the-best-they-can-come-with/td-p/616601Just to add, all LTC software I have ever downloaded gets auto deleted by my antivirus (Bitdefender). Other LTC miners tend to have more virus warnings. I would say that this is kinda off-putting. Someone PM me or post if they know a recognised LTC miner that, as a downloaded zip or whatever, is clean on virustotal.com. Other alt coins manage it.

Primecoin moving on up to 8th... Anyone know what the last spike in chart was due to?

Quite a few people have posted now saying that they seem to find blocks in quick succession. I've noticed the same thing, but even to the point where different VPS's (same provider) have all found blocks within a minute of each other but nothing for hours either side. In the last 4 hours I found 9 blocks all at the same time across 6 VPS's (around 30 mins ago), and then nothing for the 3 hours before that. I have seen the same kind of patterns over the last few days too (though no normally 9 at the same time!). Has anyone got any theories as to why this might be?
I have seen exactly this once one block was found, on one instance....then a whole load more were found quickly by that isnatnce another that found none never found any I think findinf say 12 blocks with one instance an zero with an identical instance is very unlikely..... somethings going on... I have a few theories and one is really out there.... I get this too. All arrive at once. Go on then, tell us...

so if I just replace the primecoin-qt.exe and the daemon on this windows machine, what will happen with the coins that are already on this machine? Or is it best to send these coins to another account before installing this release on this machine?
We need good Wiki or a FAQ. Same questions been asked over and over again, and you can't point people anywhere. Your coins are tied to your private key(s), which is in wallet.dat file. That file is located in totally separate directory from your Primecoin client, and any re-installation has no effect on it. ^ Wiki is needed, agreed.

I'm quite tempted by Cloudhashing.com, but given all the scams in the bitcoin world I wanted to ask about them first before investing. Has anyone used them before? Are they trustworthy?
Not used them, but there is an interesting thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=173316.0

Sounds like a good idea, as it seems that there is little competition at the moment.

Hello! I honestly signed up to this forum cause people wanted to find someone from Kuwait who's able to install and manage miners, well HI! I'm here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=242239.0 This is the topic that i'm talking about Yes Electricity is SUPER cheap, and NO you don't have to worry about the hot weather, we all own AC's and our indoors are 20 C Oh forgot to mention, I'm a 23 year old programmer from Kuwait(as the title states) . For anyone that's interested, Electricity costs 0.00699691 USD/kWh That's less than 1 cent. Welcome and good luck! I am guessing you could be very competitive, will watch this thread with interest.

99.9% of people that find phones do not know how to do that. Implausible at best.
He was in the restaurant to do a Bitcoin deal. So the guy at the same table as him likely knew how to do it. I think that's where I'd start my investigation if I was him. Wait up. Can we catch the thief? What's the btc address sent from and does the receiving address match any known transaction thread post?

On a serious note, am I right to tell this guy that it's not up to Just-Dice to refund his coins? He seems pretty insistent that it's the site's fault the coins were stolen.
You have no duty to provide a refund. It is his fault for losing his property in the first place. While it is unfortunate- you have no responsibilities regarding the situation. Agreed ^. It does highlight the 'weak link' of 2FA: your phone. Not a place to store passwords, and not good to login to services with 2FA on the same phone as authenticator app, as login may persist for a period.

URGENT!!!!!
Has anyone else just seen a 25% drop in PPS? I'm getting this on every single machine/VPS I have running. Happened in the last 30 mins. Perhaps due to the >8.0 diff increase?
~$ primecoind getdifficulty 8.02573842 Yes pps dropped even more than 25% on my rigs. Yes down from 6143 to 4208
|
|
|
Where did all the blocks go ? Seems like difficulty went up. I have 20 servers, they had near block per hour, and last several hours nothing+1 this is quite concerning. I have > 100k pps running and not a single block in the last 2 hours just doesn't seem right With BitCoin, you would have had an assured remainder of 2048 blocks to benefit from the 'arms race' of quickly pumping up compute power above what the average miner could supply. This seems to be working well as a demonstration of the value of a continuously adjustable difficulty. Difficulty hasnt changed much I think. It was 7.988 just now, and 7.978 just over 12 hours ago. 1 block is now being mined every few seconds.

Anyone know how to fix this issue?
Improving PRIV Key from (immature block)
When I get the privkey info, I go to console on my PC Wallet, and query: importprivkey <PRIVKEYGOESHERE> and I get the following error.
12:11:32 Error adding key to wallet (code -4)
Same error occurs if you have already imported key.
