If by exciting, you mean nerve racking.

Perhaps you could say your bullets will buy less gold?

These charts are not helpful.  Technical Analysis is barely helpful.

Look at fundamentals and you'll see Bitcoin is a long, long hold.  Comparing Bitcoin to various iPods isn't even close to what you need to be doing.

What you need to do is this.  Imagine the world before the discovery of gold.  Now imagine a few civilizations are using gold for trade.  Then imagine everything that came after that.

Bitcoin is roughly at the initial stage where for the vast majority of the world, they are before the discovery of Bitcoin.  If you can accumulate 1,000 BTC or so and wait 50 years... there is a distinct possibility that you'll find yourself at the top of a very, very tall mountain.  This would be my plan.

Adjust everything for inflation.

At $1,000 per BTC, sell 100 and buy a new house.

At $10,000 per BTC, sell 100 and buy a new house.

At $100,000 per BTC, sell 100 and open several successful franchises, McDonalds, Taco Bell... etc...

At $1,000,000 per BTC, 100 and purchase an enormous annuity.

Spend the rest in small amounts as needed.

You've got to understand how quickly this can happen.  This isn't a matter of it happening over the course of 5,000 years; it can happen in our lifetimes.  Or Bitcoin will become nothing... and you lose 11 grand in 2012 dollars.

Yes, a couple thousand or so is prudent.

I think there probably is a wave curve for refunds... but we're past the crest of it now.  We're on the downward slope as the end of November approaches, but will climb back up if BFL wants to delay again.  It makes enormous sense to hold on to your order if they're saying they'll be assembling in 2 weeks, but less sense if they can't meet such a deadline.  It will be interesting in that they claim they haven't used pre-order funds to pay for their current operations.  Should there be an avalanche of cancels, that claim will be put to the test.

Do you see how your threat seems a little overcooked now?

I'm so serious that if they delay once more, I am getting a full refund and giving my hard earned money to another ASIC vendor.

And what will you do if they don't want to give you a refund until January 1st, 2013?

They will certainly never see another $ from me if that were to be the case.

That'll show em.

Yeah.  I'm curious about these.  What will they look like?
191  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I RMA'd a 5830 and got back a 6790 on: November 14, 2012, 04:28:30 PM
Yeah.  I've RMA'd a couple XFX cards in the past.  Generally, they try to get you as close as they can, but when you're sending in a 5850 and all they have are 6870's, what else are they going to do but send back a 6870?  Also, the last time I had a card die, it was really just the fan.  So I called them up and explained that the card seems be fine, but the fan wouldn't spin fast enough to cool it, so it would crash.  I told them that if they could just send out a new fan, it would probably work out.

They understood and sent me just the fan, which I replaced and used to continue mining on that card.

The bad thing about their cards is that they're so difficult to overclock.

My Dwolla transfers are always very slow.  Is this the turning over of a new leaf, or do some users still experience the 8 day delays?

Mordor

One does not simply log into Mordor.

That's how secure it is.  One does not simply hack into Mordor.

I so wish I would've stayed in LTC.

Sell the 6790 on ebay for $100, buy a 5830 for $70. problem solved.

Good idea  Wink

And lose 2 weeks of mining, worth more than 30 dollars....

Flow - You plug it in and the BTC flow to their target.
200  Other / Off-topic / Re: ACTUAL Butterfly Labs PCB pics! on: November 09, 2012, 10:13:19 PM
Right.  This is due to curious people testing out the order button to see how many BTC they'd need to spend to make an order.  So people would try to time their order to the market and in the process they'd create 20 false orders.
