a) my "Reward Address" and "Reward %" was not saved. so i will get my profit on which address?

To the address you paid the 500 crave into to make the MN.

b) can i shutdown my windows computer while Linux VPS is running my MN without stopping my MN?

Yes, once the MN is unlocked

c) if i will not shutdown, can i stake on my Windows Computer with same crave-qt.exe in same folder?

Yes you can, unlock your wallet to "Staking Only" and the arrow pointing up next to the lock at the bottom right of the window should go green after a few minutes.

d) while staking i can see when i should get my reward. with my masternode i cannot see how long reward takes?

It's random, and depends on the number of MN nodes on the network as to how often it happens.

I seem to be having trouble with the new release.  I can't get the masternodes to say "masternode started remotely" like they used to before the update.

I've printed the debug log to the console and looked for clues, it says:

CActiveMasternode::ManageStatus() - Checking inbound connection to 'xxx:yyy'
CActiveMasternode::GetMasterNodeVin - Could not locate specified vin from possible list
CActiveMasternode::ManageStatus() - Could not find suitable coins!
CActiveMasternode::Dseep() - Error: masternode is not in a running status
CActiveMasternode::ManageStatus() - Error on Ping: masternode is not in a running status

But I've started the nodes, they are synced, and in the masternode list.. But I think they'll all drop out?

You can try this command in the controller wallet console :
Code:
addnode vps_ip:port onetry
masternode start-alias mn_name your_password
Ports must be open on the vps, else the masternode will get banned.

Thanks, that said "result: 'successful', I can get to the node/port from the outside (with telnet), but the node still said "not capable masternode: Could not find suitable coins!" - I did do a cleanup transaction to move all the non 500 coin amounts to the reward address, could that have unlinked anything?  I'll try a new TX next perhaps.

EDIT:  I tried a new TX with same result.  Then I rebuilt the crave-2.0.4.1 binary, and all is well again, so something has stopped working with the activation process in the latest release. I'm still using the latest .2 wallet but without reward addresses specified on the controller side, and downgraded to .1 for the nodes.

I'd be happy to help debug it further if I can.

In the meantime I'll downgrade the remaining nodes and should be happily craving away..  Cheers Smiley

I've found normal builds of the "craved" process will stop running with 512MB after a few days, while 1 GB keeps going stably.

thanks for your help, i better will get one with 1GB.

is vultr.com a good choice for my VPS?

I haven't used them before, I've successfully used A2 VPS hosting and BudgetVM - you'll want to get an Ubuntu Linux on your VPS it makes building the code a bit easier.

For a masternode, you could also just use a vps to run your node.  There is also a guide for that, though there is a very small monthly fee.

so i will get a linux server. is 512MB enough or shoud i better rent one with 1GB?

I've found normal builds of the "craved" process will stop running with 512MB after a few days, while 1 GB keeps going stably.  I saw there's also a custom build option to reduce memory use at the expense of having to re-download the block chain due to DB incompatibility.  Maybe going with the 1GB is the easier way Smiley

Here's the info:

Quote
New release: v2.0.3.7

*New new commandline option for wallet database "-dbwalletcache"
Give you control of wallet database cache. By default cache database reduced to 1Mb.
*Blockchain database cache decreased to 10Mb by default
*New build option for more memory usage optimization
For masternode holders. I have added new buildoption "LOWMEM" (disabled by default). If enabled, usage of memory can be reduced by an additional 37Mb (from ~315Mb to ~277Mb with default database caches). But it brokes compatibility with blockchain database and you will need to resync database. The choice yours.

This is an awesome coin guys!  Well done with the regular wallet updates, I've just updated all my nodes.  Waiting for first reward to the new single address  Grin

EDIT: I'm having trouble starting the MNs - they all seem to report:

not capable masternode: Could not find suitable coins!

Even through they are all setup the same way as before.  The nodes are synced and unlocked (several times now, both all or one at a time).  Is there a bug or am I doing something wrong?

so far I just see ya writing on the subject and not key people involved  Smiley nothing shall gets released unless it is fully vetted some have already bet not small amounts in advance that it is (key in any investment for *after* often its way too late)

Is that a "just shut up and wait" ?  Ok, fine. I intend to be a long term PIVX holder but am wary of hidden issues and false promises due to past experiences in BTC land.

My pleasure. I usually avoid these types of posts because cryptocurrency communities are tribalistic in nature, which usually leads to cultist denial followed up by personal attacks on the messenger. Although, I felt obligated since nobody has brought this up after 427 pages and more than likely the majority here are new to this technology.

So you're saying that once PIVX moves to full time Zerocoin and the initial parameters are retained, the devs could fiddle the coin supply without anyone knowing?  Or would that become apparent because there's a known supply?    Anyway I was just in the PIVX Development slack and asked a few questions, and sounds like there's no real white paper worthy solution to this as yet.

zerocash needs a trusted i don't think zerocoin does or at least Zcoin didn't they used some kind of RSA encryption or something of that nature

https://isi.jhu.edu/~mgreen/ZerocoinOakland.pdf - It's there on page 6 of this doc.  Thanks for the warning about this, any devs care to comment about this issue?

Interesting discussion and ideas:

market is undergoing an adjustment , watching it very close , possible deep entries will be made in due time

haven't been on slack in some time so just signaling presence , very very interesting time for traders (of smarter shade category)

Do you mean for PIVX or the Alt market in general?   Any hot tips?  Grin

Zerocash is much better and upgraded version of zerocoin and why does PIVX implement an older version of algorithm.

"Zerocash improves on an earlier protocol, Zerocoin, developed by some of the same authors, both in functionality (Zerocoin only hides a payment's origin, but not its destination or amount) and in efficiency (Zerocash transactions are less than 1KB and take less than 6ms to verify)."
Zerocash is not trustless, it realize on somebody keeping the network private. That person or persons can also create coins out of nowhere without anybody knowing any better.

Thanks for your response, could you please elaborate on this.

This is a good article that explains the difference between the two algorithms: https://zcoin.io/zcoin-and-zcash/

Does anyone have a link for more information on how to set up and mine PIVX?

You can't mine PIVX, it's a 100% proof of stake coin now.  But it's a good question, and PIVX has a pretty unique take on it:

To get block rewards with PIVX, you can either run a masternode: https://pivxmasternode.org  - or just keep your wallet open to stake its contents.  The amount that comes out can be estimated with this tool, just enter the amount of PIVX you have.  http://pivx.cryptonode.co/

The big deal is: no expensive mining equipment, and no energy waste, because neither of these uses much PC power at all to run.  Also the coin doesn't set a limit on the number of coins, just on the rate of creation.  And that sets up an awesome cash flow tool that doesn't dwindle down to nothing with increasing difficulty.  As the number of PIVX in existence increases the rate of inflation reduces while the coin supply stays fixed.

Also I found the hardware unit that's in the PIVX ads: https://www.posnewland.com/product/all-in-one-smart-pos-terminal-machine-mht-v3/  - that's pretty cool.  It could be used with any Android based till software and I guess will probably use a modified version of the PIVX wallet software to integrate with some POS systems.

can someone explain to me the staking feature and minimum coins needed staking to catch reward in 1 day?

Here's a good calculator:  http://pivx.cryptonode.co/ - you can enter your current balance and down the bottom it tells you what returns you can expect from that amount.

Yes it's a good vibe around PIVX, it will probably do really well.  It's good it doesn't have "coin" in the name and it's a new concept without misconceptions from the get go.

Also I found the proposal for the POS - it's a payment interface only which is the right approach in my mind https://forum.pivx.org/t/pivit-point-of-sale-terminal-proposal/1223

The Point of Sale plan is a bit weird in my opinion - that's a big undertaking if it's meant to be a fully featured one that replaces existing tills (and handles cash and all the rest of it).  A PIVX Payment Terminal yes, but otherwise it's just a never ending project that will always need more done to it to make it useful enough for a business.

To keep PIVX on the first page of the alts as much as possible, post more often  Wink

Almost as useless as trying to find something you saw on Facebook just a few hours ago...  Slack's search is terrible.  Who would think that the rickety awesomeness of BCT could outshine something so new.

It looks ok in the block explorer: http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/PIVX/tx.php?tx=afd6caefb13483e1f2694ef2f0bba33c7e6df63077725f1459407e3a904c7390   - what block height is your wallet at, does it match the live chain?

There's rumours on the slack channel that the devs have got zero coin minting on the test net. Sounds promising  Grin Grin
