Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How I handle crypto regret
|
on: May 01, 2018, 03:39:30 AM
|
Regret is an inevitable state of mind in crypto at one point or another:-
why didn't I buy that coin when it was $0.50? why did I sell this coin early? why didn't I take profits on the way up, only to see the value fall 50% in a market crash? (a lot of us in the last crash!) why didn't I buy the dip? why did I FOMO and buy at the ATH and now I'm holding an unrealised loss? why didn't I buy more of this coin? We're all going to make "mistakes" that lead to a feeling of regret and self-admonishment.
I have a couple of strategies here to help me dampen the feeling of regret.
1. I have to realise that regret is largely based on a "maximalist"/perfectionist mindset, which is both unrealistic and unhealthy. We are attached to the notion of maximising profits. But what would that involve? It would involve being the perfect, machine-like investor. Always buying low, selling at an ATH, taking profits at the perfect time. It's an impossible standard to live up to.
Very well worded thread, mate! Love it! The real problem here is actually we can't handle our emotion when we get losses. We only want our trading profit works perfectly based on our calculation and mindset. My suggestion, just keep calm. Crypto is not something can die instantly as long as it still has a value. There is still demand for it if business that runs it still lives there make money for us.

Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What to do if you lose $2,000 in trading?
|
on: May 01, 2018, 02:39:25 AM

Two grand is a lot of money for my pocket. Must be frustrating to lose it but we can always learn from it. Well, it will take time to make $2000 again, more importantly it teaches us to be a patient trader. d.Diversify your portfolio – Never do all in trade. These will gives you room for another alternative once the other coin doesn’t do well. Balance your portfolio composes of your well research coins.
I love this part from this thread. Just like in the world of investment, a famous saying "don't put all of your money" in one basket has helped us to grow value of our portfolio. We can play assets that fall or rise to cover losses and even to gain maximum profit. Unfortunately, there is no any portfolio strategies here.

If you are thinking to start day trading and don't wanna be frustrated, you can sell your coin when it gives me you profit whenever you happen to see it. But I strongly recommend major coins only to trade because of their strong fundamental. You can allocate say 10% or 15% of your portfolio to play with.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After a Bad Sell
|
on: April 24, 2018, 11:34:13 AM
|
So this happened to me twice this week, first I sold Bitcoin Cash and the next day, it started booming and has not up considerably and still going strong, then I sold Golem and boom it goes too.
What do you do in such situations? When you finally sell for a small profit after a long wait but then you realize that you missed on big profit with you bad timing. How do you deal with this? Any tips to minimize this or overcome after such bad timing decisions?
You should avoid selling your coin without doing research first. Otherwise, you will fall on FOMO because of your bad decision making. If you are uncertain, I strongly follow the community of coins you are holding. It will give you insight whether you want to sell or buy more. If you have enough money, subscribing in a trading signal provider is also a good option.

How Is Bitcoin In The Future? The number of altcoin that popping up sometimes for me to think how bitcoin 10 years from now Is it still exist or has been replaced with a new type of better currency ? Many altcoins can now be traded with local currency and other altcoins and are not fixated on bitcoins. I am pretty sure by the end of this year, Bitcoin will continue surging above $20,000+ and I don't think any altcoins can even replace it sitting upon its throne. Been years, Bitcoin is always on the top list with largest market cap over 40% based on coinmarketcap. In matter of fact, Bitcoin is very influential to every coins. Besides, it represents the whole market of cryptocurrencies. Question: 1. What is your Prediction ? 2. And what the reason ?
I am not expert, but let me give you an answer from the expert. 1. I follow what tech giant like Tom Lee who predicted Bitcoin about to reach $91,000 by March 2020. 2. Tom Lee prediction is based on Bitcoin performances after past market dips.

I don't set exit target like -5% or 5% and so forth. I simply find nearest resistance to get my position off. When my target is reached, I will sell it to find other undervalued coins. It is just a simple rule anyway. Buy low sell high. That's it. However, there are still other coins which are worth to hold for a long term like EOS. I don't really care when it falls because I believe it will rise up.

Thank you for giving us the advice mate. Even though it seems pretty basic but so many of us can't control our emotion seeing our portfolio value falling to the floor. When hard time comes, I think it is a signal for us to take a rest for a moment to start thinking what is wrong instead of making panic selling. Just like you said, maybe most of us can hodl Bitcoin and Ethereum because these are strong crypto currencies but other than these might be a different story.

Google is your best friend. So obviously, I cannot teach you here how to trade technically. My advise, don't give up to learn how to be a successful trader. You can always learn from your mistake to avoid bigger loss in the future. To start with, better open a demo account in an exchange that provide it. If you think you are good enough with your trading skill, you may proceed to use real account with real money of course. You can always ask the pros in this forum if you find problem. I believe they will kindly help you.

Bitcoin is still undervalued below $20,000 right now. Well, actually anytime is a good opportunity to jump in the market with fresh cash if you want to hodl for a long term. Even CNBC has reported that Bitcoin will be bigger than Tesla, Skype and Hotmail combined.

Dihapus?

I have watched the chart these days and I am pretty sure, the market has recovered to pursue its path to be bullish in the few month. However, correction might happen a little when regulation and FUD come to knock our door. Personally, think mostly it will show us more green zones.

I was pretty late in the game. Bought my first full bitcoin when it was a little over $900.
Lucky you, I was even started my first journey in the late 2017 when it was going to its highest record then finally dropped in the early 2018. But hey here is the good new mate, the market is volatile so we can jump whenever it gives us deep to buy as much as possible.

I wonder, that the other country didnt accept bitcoin.
Fortunately, I am living in a country which is not really afraid of Bitcoin "invasion" to our traditional financial system. It still exist anyway, because our government doesn't ban it totally. We are only allowed to treat it as an asset. You can have it but you can't use to purchase stuff because it can jeopardize our currency.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - If you had the choice to vote - Commodity or Currency?
|
on: April 23, 2018, 11:20:53 AM

Let's say we live in a perfect world, where citizens still made the decisions on political matters and you as an individual were given the choice to vote on a subject. If the choice were given to you, would you vote for Bitcoin to be accepted as a currency or a commodity? Your governments wants to accept Bitcoin, but they do not want a multi-function and open defined technology. They only give two options on the ballot paper. 1. Define Bitcoin as a Currency2. Define Bitcoin as a CommodityYou have to remember that the definition will determine the future and the taxes that would be applied to the technology. <VAT or Capital Gains> Where will you draw your X ? Let's see what would happen, if people were given a choice. < Both is not a option > This is a very interesting question. If I were give the option, I would be voting Bitcoin as Currency. Simply, because it is a revolutionary currency that is open to maximise in largest adoption. Furthermore, our government should consider that it is time to think that our fiat is now a traditional payment tool. We should begin adopting blockchain technology for our fiat.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is owning bitcoin a crime?
|
on: April 23, 2018, 11:13:25 AM
|
Normally, owning bitcoin and alt coin is totally harmless. Why this should be illegal? I think this could be only considered a crime if you were involved in money laundering and hid your asset in Bitcoin. Another different story, law in your country does not allow everyone to own it because the government are afraid of it to be misused.
